your boyfriend, suna rintarou, felt betrayed. 

suna rintarou swears to himself that he isn’t jealous—jealous of his little sister. still, he can’t avoid asking himself why you even came over to his family home if you were only going to stay with his little sister in her bedroom. 

he stood and leaned on the doorframe of his little sister’s bedroom, quietly eyeing the two of you as you brushed his little sister’s hair. he was just observing you when all of a sudden his little sister spoke.

“everything’s not about you, big brother.” 

the way his little sister said it sounded sassy, and the fact that it even came out of nowhere made you stifle a laugh as you tried to keep your composure while brushing his little sister’s hair. but rintarou, on the other hand, lost his. 

“what are you even saying?” rintarou asked.

“i can sense it..” his little sister hummed. “i can sense that you’re jealous of me. and you’re jealous because i have all your girlfriend’s attention right now,” she said with such confidence along with a sly smirk. 

“what–” rintarou stopped his words as he couldn’t say anything. i mean, he’s aware that he is jealous of his little sister right now because she has all your attention. but to admit it? right in front of you? he swore he would rather delete all of his social media accounts right now. 

you laughed, finding the situation cute and funny at the same time. ever since you became rintarou’s girlfriend, you also became like the big sister rintarou’s little sister never had, and this type of interaction has been a norm between the suna siblings. 

rintarou still couldn't say a thing, but the dead air was immediately prevented from happening when his little sister suddenly spoke in response.

“i don’t want you to join us right now because this was supposed to be girls only, but if you really want to have some of your girlfriend’s attention right now then we can prolly share. only under one condition though.”

“and what exactly is the condition?” rintarou asked.

“just treat us to some food from the miyas later.”

ding-dong. and with just that one simple sound, the suna siblings immediately stopped their almost pillow fight in the living room. 

rintarou immediately lets go of the pillow in his hand before running through the front door, as his little sister follows him out of curiosity, to open it for you. after swinging the door open to greet you, it seems like the world suddenly stopped for both of the suna siblings 

“oh.” rintarou’s little sister stops before blinking twice. and with her mouth agape, she adds, “oh, she’s pretty…” her words trail off. “really pretty.”

without even batting an eye at his little sister, rintarou nods in agreement as he shares the same facial expression with her—no thoughts, head empty—just way too lost by how pretty you are.

“oh,” rintarou’s little sister breaks the silence. “she can definitely have all my scrunchies.”

“where are you? i can’t find you in the stadium.” 

you don’t want to reply to his message. heck, you don’t even want to open the notification at all. 

it’s been three hours since the match ended and it’s been an hour since you left the stadium, and he just realized that you left just now? ridiculous. 

you stared blankly at the notification until he sent you another one just three minutes later.

“y/n where are you?” suna sent you another one. “why aren’t you reading my messages?”

you were literally about to space out from staring blankly at his messages when your phone suddenly vibrated. he’s calling you, snapping you back into reality. 

you sighed before declining his call.

“at home,” you replied to his message. “i went home early then i dozed off, sorry,” you added.

he immediately replied with, “ok ig i’ll go home now.”

you’re aware that his reply was dry, but like, that’s all? some ok ig is all he can reply? but at this point, you couldn’t even care less anymore. 

around 45 minutes later, you were lounging on the sofa when you suddenly heard the entrance to your and suna’s shared penthouse open. you already know it’s suna. he’s the only other one who knows the passcode to the penthouse after all. 

“why did you leave so early? did you even finish watching the whole match at all?” that’s the first thing he told you when he went to the lounging area. so is that really how he’ll greet you? it made you laugh dryly.

“not even a hello?”

“i asked you first.” he’s clearly pissed off. 

“why are you mad?” you stood up from the sofa, walking towards him. “i was there and i watched your whole match. i know you lost the match, but you don’t have to put your anger on me.” 

“so why did you leave after the match was over?”

“what do you mean? i literally stayed there for two more hours before i left.” it’s true. you stayed for two more hours and waited for him. and for the whole two hours, you wanted to go and still congratulate him for his performance, but you couldn’t. why? because he got swarmed by his fans, begging to take pictures with him and getting his autograph.

you tried squeezing yourself in. you loudly called for his name through the crowd, but all you saw was him taking a glance at you before returning his focus to taking pictures and signing autographs. 

“you literally looked at me when i called your name after the match, you just didn’t bother walking towards me.” 

“wait, yeah, i did see you earlier. sorry.” suna doesn’t sound sorry at all. “still, you could’ve waited for me.”

“rin, i tried waiting for you. i tried calling for your attention because i still wanted to congratulate you even if you lost, you just didn’t bother because you were too busy taking pictures and signing autographs.”

“me just only taking glances at you and not walking towards you as i was clearly,” he emphasized. “taking pictures and signing autographs is already an act of not bothering?” 

“so their attention matters more than mine?” 

“i did not say that, y/n. don’t make things complicated.” you can feel the tone of his voice getting sharper and sharper.

“then why are you making it sound like their attention matters more than mine? you don’t have to take pictures with everyone. you don’t have to sign every autograph they request. you always do this but you literally don’t have to do everything they want. they’re just your fans, they come and go.”

“wait, are you fucking jealous over the attention i gave them? when we literally live under the same roof?” suna laughed dryly, his words making your blood boil. 

“of course i’m jealous!” you snapped, shouting at him. “we live under the same roof but you’re out almost 24/7!”

“don’t you get it?! i’m a volleyball player, so what do you expect?!” suna snapped back. “are you even aware that you’re being selfish right now?”

“wait, selfish? me?” you scoffed. “can you hear yourself right now, suna?” you pointed at your ear. “so i’m the selfish one when all i did was sacrifice everything just so that i could choose you?” you pointed to his chest. “when i literally left my family, closest friends, and career on a different prefecture just so that i could live with you here in tokyo to support you on your own career? when i literally had to skip work multiple times just so that i could attend all your matches? when all i wanted in return was the unconditional love that you promised me when we were in high school?” 

the suna that you’re facing right now isn’t the suna that you knew back in high school. he changed. he changed after being a part of the volleyball national team. but despite the change, you stayed. 

choosing him over everything caused you some damage. you waited and are still waiting until those damages healed. you know it hurts, waiting for the damage to heal for so long, but you also think that if you manage to get it healed, you can consider it as good damage. so, if you will leave him midway through healing, then all the damage will be just damage. but now you know better than this. you need to stop choosing him, you need to choose you.

all the things that you’ve been wanting to tell him just spilled as if a dam burst broken. you can feel tears now streaming down your face. “so suna, let me ask you again, am i the one who’s being selfish?” 

that was the last thing you told him before picking up your purse and then walking towards the penthouse to leave. 

suna just stood on his spot, silent the whole time. realization immediately kicked in when he heard the entrance to the penthouse shut close. he couldn’t move even though he wanted to. he wanted to chase after you, kneel after you, and beg for your forgiveness but he couldn’t move. he knows he fucked up big time. he knows he’s been fucking up for years.

you almost choked on your own spit. his response was unexpected, but you also think it was your fault for saying something so random.

“haha, funny.” you flicked his forehead with a fake smile on your face.

you still doubt him even when he says he isn’t joking, but your heart still can’t help but start racing by the way he’s looking at you.

testing the waters, you nodded and said yes. you remind yourself that you’re just testing the waters even though deep inside you, you’re not.

suna smiled at your response. he started to slowly lean into you, making you lean back and press your back on the couch. 

you are still so confident that he was just playing around, but you are immediately proved wrong when you realize that he’s now on top of you. one of his hands is on your waist while the other is on your chin. not only that but his face is now so close into yours that you can feel his breath.

everything felt so slow as you felt his lips brush yours, but it sooned turned into a fleeting moment when all of a sudden there was a loud knock on the front door. “suna! can you go by our house in the meantime and show ‘samu the proof that i won earlier?”

shit. it’s atsumu.

“way to ruin the moment,” suna tsked as he got off you. “he could’ve just texted me,” he scowled under his breath.

you are left frozen on the couch, still processing what the hell just happened within the past three minutes.

“wow, this is romantic,” you blurted out.

“you’re literally freezing as we speak,” suna said as he tried to wrap his scarf around your neck. “‘it’s not gonna be that cold’ my ass,” he tsked, full of concern.

you gave him a sheepish smile, feeling embarrassed given the fact that you were so confident when you said that to him earlier this morning. you were so confident earlier that you didn’t even wear nor bring your mittens before going out.

after fixing his scarf around your neck, suna’s eyes landed on your hands tucked inside your pockets. after immediately realizing that you also didn’t put on some mittens, he reached out his hands towards you. “show me your hands.”

you hesitated at first, trying not to meet his gaze as he looked at you. sighing defeatedly, you slowly pulled out your freezing hands from your pocket, immediately feeling your body jump when the cold winter wind grazed your hands.

with his gloved hands, suna gently held onto your ungloved ones. you only expected him to rub circles into your hands to warm them up, but to your surprise, he held your ungloved ones to his face before blowing some warmth to your palms.

“wha- hey!” you protested with a blushed face, trying to take your hands from his.

suna didn’t say a word. he held onto your hands even more as he blew some warmth into it.

“never thought you were such a romantic,” you teased, trying to distract yourself from the warmth that has since crept up to your face moments ago.

“oh, shut up.” suna fought back the teasing despite the now already visible tint of blush on his face.

putting your hands down from his face, he continued to keep it warm by rubbing circles on it. immediately after that, he let go of your hands before removing both of his mittens from his.

“here, you dummy.” he flicked your nose with one of his hands as he handed his mittens to you.

“what? no!” you shook your head as you slightly pushed his mittens away. “you already gave me your scarf, you might catch a cold.”

“oh, don’t be so stubborn.” he put his hand above your head before ruffling your hair, leading some of it to cover your eyes, making him chuckle.

“hey-” you held onto his arm with your cold hands, stopping him from ruffling your hair. “fine, okay?” you sighed defeatedly. “but i will only take one.”

“why only one?”

“romantic isn’t it?” you grinned at him.

now that only your right hand and his left hand have mittens on, you’re now holding suna’s ungloved right hand with your ungloved left hand as they’re tucked in your coat’s pockets, equally giving both of your hands the warmth it’ll need as you continue your walk through the city.

“i swear to god, if you end up catching a cold,” suna muttered as he avoided looking at you to hide the tint of blush on his face given the situation you guys are in.

you elbowed him lightly. “dummy, i know how much you love me, but enjoy this for now and complain later if,” you emphasized. “i ever do catch a cold.”

“what the heck, rin!” you elbow at suna who was just looking over your shoulders. “you scared the shit out of me! don’t just come up from behind me and suddenly speak over my shoulders!”

“just sketching on my notebook.” 

suna just hummed in response before sitting right beside you. there was just complete silence after that as he watched you doodle on your notebook without even trying to say something to talk about.

the silence is so loud between the two of you that it is starting to make you feel anxious. what? is he just gonna watch you sketch in your notebook the whole time? you guys should at least talk about something to pass the time, right? you sigh to yourself. any topic might just do, right? 

“hey, has anybody told you that your voice sounds nice? like, it sounds hot. you know what i mean?” you blurt out all of a sudden before fully registering what you just said. what the hell were you thinking? you bite on your tongue as you close your mouth with your hand. that was so embarrassing and such a random thing to ask. you immediately turn your head away from suna. i mean, his voice IS hot, but still— 

“oh, you think my voice is hot?” suna leans his head towards yours and over your shoulders before whispering in your ear with a smirk plastered on his face, “you really think so? y/n?” 

“oh, shut up, rin!” you elbow him once again, to which he laughs. 

“what? i thought you found my voice hot?” he teases you more. 

you immediately turn your head to look at him, darting your eyes at his as you try to suppress the creeping flushed feeling in your chest. “hey! do you want me to choke you or what?” 

“jokes on you, i’m into that,” suna playfully replies, his smirk not leaving his face. 

you roll your eyes. “do you seriously want me to break that pretty face of yours?”

“aw, that’s cute. you think i’m pretty?”
