Bianca Belair rise to the title and her eventual feud with Io fantasy booking

Bianca Belair has been a rising shining star in NXT for the past year. Her athleticism, her confidence, charisma, and her character. A black female who knows her worth and refuse to apologize that she didn’t come for the independent scene. She’s the roughest, toughest, baddest, strongest... You get it. She’s the EST of NXT.Speaking of indies, she has been running through these “indie girls” that NXT put in front of her. Deonna, Candice Larae, Dakota Kai, and Mia Yim. The best women on the indies that Bianca beat. Therefore, this proves Bianca is the best (in kayfabe). She has yet to receive a title shot despite being undefeated (9-0) or be on a Takeover.

NXT Takeover is tonight. Shayna Bazler NXT Women’s Champion vs the Pirate Princess Kairi Sane in 2 out of 3 falls. Shayna won back the NXT title at Evolution after Marina and Jessamyn interfered and Kairi passed out to the rear naked choke. Shayna would come out with her posse while Kairi will come out her own. Shayna would score the first fall when she catches Kairi doing the elbows drop into the rear neck choke for tap out (after the 4HW interferes). Kairi would score the second fall when either Marina or Jessamyn would try to distract Kairi. Shayna would try to hit Kairi from behind while Kairi is arguing with the 4HW. However, Kairi would move out the way and Shayna would blast her fellow 4HW on accident. Shayna would be shock and Kairi would capitalize with a roll up. 1-1. Kairi would hit Shayna with everything she got and even hook in the anchor. The 4HW would try to interfere again once again and try to get in the ring. But then you see two females attack them. Dakota Kai and Io Shirai. Io and Kairi know each other for their Stardom days and Dakota has previous beef with Shayna. As they attack Marina and Jessamyn, Kairi let go of the Anchor and climbed out the top rope. She prepares her elbow and sinks down. She hits Shayna and goes for the pin. 1-2-3. Kairi Sane is the new NXT women’s champion. Kairi has defeated Shayna and regained her treasure. Her, Io, And Dakota are celebrating as Shayna, Marina and Jessamyn climbed up the ramp. As this all goes down, Bianca, watching the match backstage, stand with her arms folded. She didn’t care who wins tonight because she’s getting the next shot.

The upcoming NXT episode, Regal announce that Shayna wants her title shot tonight and we will ban anyone from ringside. This will be the main event. Bianca goes to NXT William Regal and says:” Mr. Regal, I’m getting sick and tired seeing the same girls getting title shots. I have been UN DE FEAT TED. I have beaten these indie girls you put in front of me. What more do I have to do? Do I have to keep beating more indie girls and this whole division? I’m the best! Not Shayna “my best friend is Ronda” Bazler. Not “wannabe pirate princess” Kairi Sane. ME. ME. The EST of NXT. GIVE ME A TITLE SHOT.”

Regal would respond with:” Okay. Bianca. You will get your title shot soon. But seeing you frustrated right now, maybe you can take that frustration and put it in the ring against your opponent...(hand gesture for her opponent to come out).. Lacey Lane. Bianca, this is Lacey Lane. She was in the Mae Youn-“

“I don’t give a whatever who she is or what she was in. She’s another indie girl right? You making my job here so much easier. You’ll end up with your indie friends are and I WILL GET WHAT I DESERVE”- Bianca then blow a kiss to her. Regal and Lacey shakes their heads in disappointment.

Next, Lacey Lane vs Bianca Belair. Bianca tries to put Lacey away early but Lacey is fast. Lacey tries go for the bicycle knee strike but Bianca counters into a forearm. Bianca would then hit the standing moonsault. Bianca would hit a sitdown spinebuster but Lacey would barely kick out. Bianca would sell them amazingly with her facial expressions. Bianca would then grab Lacey’s face, get right up in it, and tell Lacey: “YOU GONNA LEARN TO RESPECT ME! STAY DOWN! YOU GONNA WISH YOU STAYED ON THE INDIES!” Lacey would then would try to take Bianca down with many kicks including a Capoeira Kick. She would go for the pin but Bianca would kick out. Lacey grabs Bianca to try to go for the crucifix bomb. Bianca gets away and as Lacey approaches her she hits Lacey with the hair whip. She repeated hit Lacey as Lacey wince in pain. She goes to the corner, she shouts “GIMME MY TITLE SHOT”. She spears Lacey and goes for the pin. 1, 2,3. Bianca Belair wins. 10-0. Lacey is now another indie girl that Bianca Belair. But that wasn’t enough, she wants to send a statement to the roster, NXT officials and everyone around the world. She grabs Lacey and starts with a military press towards the top rope into the argentine facebuster (KOD). She would then send Lacey into the turnbuckle. As Lacey lays down, Bianca gets on the top rope and hit the 450. As refs and medical staff tend to Lacey, Bianca shouts “ None of them are on my level. I’m the best. How many more of these indie bitches do I have to beat.”

As Bianca heads to the back, she bumps into someone. “Move out my way!” As she leaves, the person was Io Shirai.

Mia Yim vs Deonna. This would be a fun match to establish both of them. Friendly competition. Technical on Deonna side and Mia’s fastpace style. Deonna won when Mia tried to go for Soul Food when Deonna counters to her Figuawa armbar.

The main event, Kairi Sane (c) vs Shayna Bazler. No groups. No disqualification. No countout. Shayna was more vicious in this match and wanted Kairi to suffer so bad that Kairi wouldn’t want to continue the match. However, after a grueling match, Kairi Sane retains via the Anchor. Kairi beat Shayna to retain her NXT Women’s Championship. Kairi clutches her arm (that Shayna worked over throughout the match). As Kairi thanked the fans and head up the ramp, Bianca decks her behind the head. She stomps on the arm then starts whipping her. Kairi yells in pain. She drags Kairi to the on floor in front of the commentary team. Bianca then, yells at the men to:” MOVE! SEND THIS STATEMENT TO MISTER REGAL” and goes on the commentary table. After she knocks off everything on the table like cameras, she gets into position and hits the 450 on the NXT women’s champion Kairi Sane. She gets up and smile that Kairi is in pain. The show closes with Bianca blowing a kiss to Kairi while raising the title.

Next week, NXT commentary recaps what happened last week. They said what Bainca did should have serious consequences. She caused a lot of hell for the NXT women’s division. Lacey Lane suffered a shoulder injury and concussion meanwhile Kairi Sane luckily suffered bruised ribs. As Bianca as training at the Performance Center, William Regal approaches her.:”What the hell was last week? You injured two of the brightest stars...”. “BRIGHTEST?I 👏🏾THE👏🏾BRIGHTEST👏🏾. What I did last week was sending a message to EVERYONE who thinks I shouldn’t be here or champion because I didn’t come from Stardom or the indies! Keep playing with me, Regal. I will destroy this women’s division. You won’t have to give me a title shot. I will take it. I have to work twice as hard to get half of these bitches get. You did this, Regal. You did this.”

Regal just looked at her and said two words.” You’re suspended”. Bianca looked pissed off and said “You’re only making it worse. Keep playing, Regal.”

During Bianca’s thirty day suspension, William Regal wanted one of the best women’s matches in NXT with the signing of Io Shirai. Kairi Sane has healed up and ready to defend her treasure. She still wants revenge on Bianca and even told Regal to unsuspend her. Regal said he made the right decision and another decision he has made is at NXT Takeover Phoenix, Kairi Sane vs Io Sharai for the NXT women’s championship. Two Japanese prospects who can put on a competitive match for women’s wrestling. Io with her moonsault and Kairi with her flying elbow. Kairi and Io shake hands and gets ready for Takeover. Also during this time, Mia Yim vs Deonna side-feud would be established. It’ll be a respect but prove who’s the best of the two. They trade singles wins back and forth. They both hope to get a title opportunity for the NXT women’s championship. Takeover comes around and the women’s match starts the show, Kairi and Io shake hands as a sign of respect. Both are at a stalemate because they have so much history and studied each other. We get to the finish of this match. “Women’s Wrestling” chants and so much praise. As Io is about to go for the moonsault, you see the return of the hairwhipping loudmouth black bitch in Bianca Belair (in street clothes). She is pissed and sick of tired. She climbs on the apron and forearm Io towards the ground. The ref rings the bell and deems it as disqualification. Bianca gets into the ring and starts beating down Kairi. She grabs a chair and hitting Kairi’s bruised ribs again. “IM. TAKING. THAT. TITLE.”, each word syncing with each blow to the back of Kairi. Kairi tries to fight back but Bianca then stomps on Kairi. Io gets in the ring and takes down Bianca. Punches, kicks, and props Bianca up for the moonsault but as Io goes down, Bianca gets up and hits Io with her hairwhip. She hits her and Kairi with her hairwhip wanting to damage them both. She lays Kairi and Io on top of each other and goes on the top rope. She hits a 450 on both of them. She soaks in all the boos as she poses with the NXT women’s title. She ruined one of the best women’s matches in WWE history. This wasn’t the indie darlings moment. This wasn’t women’s wrestling moment. This was her moment. She deserves it. She earned it. “ I AM THE BEST. SUSPEND ME AGAIN. I WILL HURT ALL OF THEM UNTIL YOU GIVE ME THE TITLE.”, she says. She took one last forearm to Io and KODed Kairi. She then walks to the outside of the arena and takes off.

Following NXT, Bianca arrives at the Performance Center early (wearing her own custom merch she created). During her time off, she’s been training faster and harder than ever. She’s been practicing everything to perfect herself. She wants to outwork everyone in the NXT- make or female. She leaves just in time for everyone to come in. She heads to Full Sail to her locker room where everyone stares at her. “Anyone has anything to say? Y’all can whisper but y’all don’t have the balls to step to me. Now move out my way.”, Bianca says. She heads to Regals office.

“ Bianca..”

“What you gonna do? Suspend me? Fire me? You wont take a shot with me. I’m the rising star everyone wants to see. Black girls look up to me. I can represent the NXT women’s division. I don’t even have my own fucking merch yet. I had to create my own and sell it on my website. I sent a statement to everyone and anyone. I am Bianca Belair. So... what?”

“Bianca, I was pissed off that you ruined a great women’s match. However, I understand your frustrated that you haven’t had your time to shine. So I’ll give you a match tonight. If you can beat your opponent, you will get a title shot at Takeover Mania.”, Regal said.

“Okay. Who’s my opponent? Another indie girl?”

“Get to the ring and you’re find out.”

“When I beat her I will get what I deserve. WHEN I BEAT THESE INDIE CHICKS I WILL GET WHAT I DESERVE. THESE CHICKS WILL LEARN TODAY.”

Bianca is in the ring with new gear. She rolls her eyes as fans chant “Indie is BETTER”. She hears Nikki Cross music. You can see Bainca mouth out “I thought I was done with this chick.” Nikki gets in the ring and immediately attacks Bianca. The bell rings and Bianca backs off Nikki. She gets out the ring and Nikki starts chasing her. She runs into she gets back in the ring. As soon as Nikki gets back in, Bianca forearms her. She goes for the pin and Nikki kicks out at two. She does her standing moonsault and then does her kissing ass type. She puts Nikki in a headlock. She does this for two minutes until the crowd wakes Nikki up for the comeback spot. Nikki takes Bianca down and then does something that someone shouldn’t do. She touches Bianca’s hair and tries to pull it. Bianca gets enrage, hits Nikki Cross again and then ties Nikki’s hand into the bottom of her hair. She then slowly sends Nikki into the corner, pull her with her hair and forearms her again. “DONT YOU DARE TOUCH MY HAIR”. She sends her to the corner again and gets in Nikki’s face. “DONT YOU DARE. IM THE BEST. IM THE EST. “ Nikki slaps her, gets her hand out the hair, then goes crazy. Bianca tries to avoid Nikki’s craziness but it was too much to handle. Nikki eventually has Bianca in her DDT finisher. She hits it and she goes for the pin. 1-2- and Bianca kicks out. Bianca rolls out the ring and Nikki goes to get her back in. Bianca blinds Nikki and sends her into the steps. She throws her back in the ring and hits the KOD. She decides that’s not enough and hits the KOD again. She hits the KOD again. 1-2-3. Bianca has earned a title shot. She’s 11-0. She’s celebrating as refs and medical staff checks on Nikki Cross. Nikki Cross nose is bleeding and she possibly has a concussion. Bianca smirks, moves them out the way, and starts railing on Nikki. This doesn’t last long because Io and Kairi head down the ring. Bianca hightails it and heads up the ramp. Io and Kairi challenge her to get in the ring. Bianca taunts and say “You’re both mine”. William Regal comes out and says” Bianca Belair, you been costing major problems in the NXT women’s division. But, you’re also been impressive and destroying your competition. I’ve been watching you shine tonight and you finally earned a title shot. You will have to prepare for the biggest challenge for your life because you will be facing TWO OPPONENTS that want their revenge. Io Shiria and the NXT women’s champion Kairi Sane. This match will take place at NXT Takeover New York. Ladies, good luck” Bianca smirks and stares at Io and Kairi.

The following NXT, William approaches Bianca while she’s done answering fans Q&A. He informs her:” Bianca you now have your Takeover match and title shot. I hope all the problems you cost was worth it because if you lose.... Anyways, you’re right about selling merch. I just saw your Q&A and many of your fans want Bianca Belair merch. They want that shirt you wore last week. They even wanted the necklaces and EST stickers. I want to you send the shirts to WWE shop and we will work on the necklaces and stickers. I want to start this as soon as possible. Also, you will have a tag team match with a partner of your choosing versus your opponents-Io and Kairi. It’ll be a test to see how can you handle them before your takeover match. Now seeing as you need a partner but you caused so many females to be concussed, injured, or they can’t stand your attitude, this would be a tough task for you. Good luck.”

Main event: Io and Kairi are seen in the ring making funny faces and chatting. They’re waiting for Bianca and her “partner”. Bianca music hits and she comes out with a mic. “Oh it’s the Japanese girls that theses no- life marks love. (mockingly yawn). The wannabe pirate princess and the moonsault chick. Io, you’re too busy pleasing theses fans with moonsaults that you can’t win. You was on the biggest stage of you career at Evolution and you didn’t win the MYC. I studied you while I was in the crowd and watched you fail. You’re all hype. A flash in the pan. Meanwhile I been dominating and destroying every female NXT in front of me. So you can go back to Stardom, sweetie. And then we got NXT’s pirate princess- Kairi Sane. You have something I want. You’re in-sane if you think you’re gonna keep that “treasure” forever. You might have beaten me before but I’m more dangerous. I will beat you too at Takeover New York. But tonight, I needed to find a partner and while I have been a bitch to everyone (smirks because she doesn’t regret it), I found someone that can’t stand you too as much as me.” Out comes NXT bougee chick, Aliyah. She has been under appreciated and undervalue and she’s sick of tired of girls like Shayna, Io and Kairi get spotlight over her. The bell ring and Bianca and Aliyah isolates Kairi from Io early on. They take turns tagging each other out after one move to Kairi keeping her in the corner. They attack Kairi’s ribs as much as possible. Bianca has the headlock on Kairi while smirking at Io. She gets aggressive with it and wants to hear Kairi scream. Aliyah runs to Io on the apron and knock her down. Bianca picks up Kairi and hit the forearm. 1-2, Kairi kicks out. Bianca picks up her up but Kairi hits Bianca hard with a brutal strike. They both collapsed and head to their corners. They both get the hot tags and Io goes crazy on Aliyah. Io’s fastpace is too much for Aliyah and she wants out the match. Io toys with Aliyah and tells her to go to her corner. Aliyah goes to tag Bianca. Bianca looked at this and was disgusted:” She can’t do one thing. I might as well did this myself. However this is a tag team match and I won’t eat the pin. Therefore my undefeated streak will still be alive.,” she thought. As Aliyah reaches her hand out, Bianca jumps down off the apron. “ I don’t need this. I have a Takeover match. I have a title match to prepare for. You got this, Aliyah. I “believe” in you.”, Bianca says. As she heads up the ramp, Kairi gets on the steel steps, forearms Bianca in the face, and they brawl up the ramp. They head to the back meanwhile Io hits the moonsault on Aliyah. 1-2-3 Io and Kairi win the match. Io looks for Kairi and she knows something is wrong. Meanwhile Kairi and Bianca are battling towards the NXT women’s lockerroom. Kairi slams Bianca head on the table and screams. Bianca slaps Kairi and grabs her hair. She hits Kairi with her hairwhip multiple times. She then put Kairi on the lockerroom door. She backs up and spears Kairi threw the door. All the girls in the lockerroom look shock and awe. Bianca has gotten so out of control that they wished they had Shayna back. This is Bianca before she wins the title. How will she be after she wins the title. Bianca gets up, looks at Kairi, then look at the other NXT girls. “I DID THAT! WHAT YALL GONNA DO? YALL WONT STEP TO ME! IM THE BEST!”,she says. Deonna rolls her eyes, Mia just glares as her, Lacey Lane, MJ Jenkins just walk out, and Dakota looks concerned for Kairi. Bianca smirks and watches as Kairi sits up hold her bruise ribs. She kicks Kairi down one last time and says “I’m gonna send you back to Stardom.” She then grabs her stuff and heads out. Io comes in shortly after, shocked to what happened at Kairi and says she’s gonna get her revenge on Bianca.

During the next few weeks till Takeover, Bianca is preparing her most intense training for the biggest match of her career. Her latest results deadlifts 450 lbs, finishes the 10-yard reverse ground start sprint in 2.25 seconds, the overhead medicine ball toss with 40 feet, 2 inches. She wants to outdo herself. Anytime she has low results, she push herself harder. It finally hit her while training that she’s competing on Mania weekend. She always dreamed on competing on Mania. While last year she had a OMG moment and showed the world what she had in, she was on the preshow. She knew she deserve better than the preshow. She’s more than that. Meanwhile, her custom merch (in above photos) she created has sold out instantly. She has to make more merch each day due to how marketable it is. She was making the company money. Also, her fanbase was growing rapidly. Of course you have those wrestling fans who don’t get what EST but ignorance is bliss. This week was also special due to tomorrow. Next week is Bianca’s birthday (April 9th). She can’t wait to celebrate but first Bianca has business to take care of. Bianca then heads to the arena where she is set for an interview with Cathy Kelly. She approaches Cathy, scoffs at her, then said “Did you see what I did last week? Or this past few weeks? Or what I been doing on WWE Shop? Have y’all been taking notice? I am taking over. This won’t be NXT. I will be EST as in I run this show. I am Bianca Belair and I am undefeated. Now ask me a stupid question. “

Cathy:” How do you feel that -“

Bianca:”I DONT CARE what you want to know. You will see this SAT-“ She couldn’t finish her sentence because Io and Kairi attacks her from behind. They brawled until Bianca shoves Io into Kairi. “I save y’all the beating this Saturday. I’m done.”

Takeover Mania has come around. Everything was worth Bianca getting here. It was the biggest match of her life and its time to shut her critics up. Time to finally prove she belongs here. Time to prove she’s not all hype and she is the best this company has seen. She has her family coming out to see her. She heads to the ring in new gold and white gear. Gold and white symbolizing her shining bright as a star.Its also a tribute to her husband for supporting so much throughout her career. She demanded Regal for a big entrance so she got pyro and Wrestle Flow to rap her theme song. After she gets in the ring, she enjoy the sound of the Takeover fans. Huge EST chants and some boos. Out comes Io and Bianca rolls her eyes at the sight of her. Io has something to prove to tonight. She has spectacular matches but she didn’t win the MYC. Out comes the dark horse and NXT women’s champion, Kairi Sane. She has her ribs taped but she plays to defend her title and beat that arrogant entitled girl for disrespecting everyone. The match starts and Bianca immediately gets out the ring. She does jumping jacks and pull ups. Io and Kairi stares at her telling her to get in the ring. “Y’all can fight. Yall go.”, Bianca says. She wants them to weaken each other so she can capitalize. Io shrugs and they tie up. As Io and Kairi wrestle, Bianca studies them both. She couldn’t find a weakness with Io while watching her Stardom tapes. She was fastpace, strikes hard, she wrestles any style due to her opponents. She is a superb striker, can perform incredible jaw dropping aerial manoeuvres, and is a swift & gifted technical wrestler. She has to outsmart Io in some form. She shakes out of her thought and see the crowd praising in aw over Io and Kairi. Io has Kairi ready for the 619. As Io comes to the ring, Bianca gets in and forearms her almost out the ring. Bianca soaks in the boos and powerslam Kairi down. She then does the squatting suplex, the running split-legged body slamm, and the standing moonsault to Kairi. What wowed the crowd even more was her hitting the standing shooting star press. Her husband -Montez- encouraged her to use it for tonight. She then puts Kairi in a ground swinging full Nelson and gets aggressive with it. Bianca smirks as she knows she got this in the bag. Kairi screams in pain but the crowd tries to rally behind the crowd. Kairi reverses and gets goes crazy. She hits the hard hitting strikes. She hits the axe kick and Tokyo slam. She sends Bianca in the corner and hits the Sliding D to her. Kairi tries to get Bianca up but Bianca slides out the ring. She tries to run away but Io is right behind her. “Look we can talk this out, guys., right”. Kairi was ready to strike. She punches but Bianca ducks. Kairi decks Io and Bianca smirks. She swings Kairi to the steps and puts her in the ring. She climbs on the top turnbuckle and hits the 450 splash. 1-2-3. Bianca Belair has become NXT women’s champion. “I FUCKING DID IT”, she says. She looks at the NXT women’s title. Everything lead to this. All the hard work, training, and strategy. Now that she has the NXT women’s title, she’s never relinquishing it. It’s hers. She snatched it out the refs hands and holds in it Kairi’s face. She enjoys the fans reaction and soaks it all in. She then blows a kiss to the crowd, smirks at her family, then heads to the back as she says” I never needed you at all.” 12-0

NXT opens up with all the NXT women surrounding the ring and HHH in the ring. He has the NXT women’s Championship on a podium. “There has been a rising star in the NXT for a little while now. We first saw her at the MYC as a breakout star. Her athletic background showed for the two matches she had and the crazy thing is is that she just started wrestling. She signed to WWE in 2016 as Bianca Blair. Track star. CrossFit. Scholar. And now you new NXT Women’s Champion. The fastest. The roughest. The baddest. All she asked for was one shot and her delivering was a understatement. After all she is UN DE FEAT TED. So let’s bring out the lady.” Hairwhip crackles and Bianca’s music plays. Bianca (with her hair down) and fancy clothes skips to the ring. Deonna rolls her eyes, Io stares at her, Mia plays on her phone, and even Dakota mocks Bianca. Kairi still there... motionless. They couldn’t stand her attitude and the fact she’s NXT Champion is even worse. Her ego gonna get bigger. Bianca climbs in the ring, hugs HHH, smiles so hard and says: “None of you believed in me but I did. None of you wanted me to succeed. Seeing a successful black woman win makes y’all scared and insecured. Especially one that knows her worth. I knew mine so I didn’t back down because y’all cheer for these “indie” girls. I fought harder. I trained harder. I told all of you “I’m better than y’all”. I beat every girl this company put in front of me so far. Me. Nikki Cross. Dakota Kai. Deonna. Lacey Lane. Candice Larea. Kairi Sane. and even Io Shirai. There’s more but I can’t remember all the mediocre names who aren’t ME. I beat all the “best women’s wrestlers y’all claim”. Therefore, that makes me the BEST. ME. IM THE BEST and I will be the best NXT women’s champion of all time.” She drops the mic and stares at the NXT women’s division. She goes to Kairi direction and says “GO BACK TO STARDOM. That’s the only way you can succeed.” Kairi tries to get in the ring but Deonna, Mia, and Dakota holds her back. Kairi is angrily screaming and the girls are taking her to the back. Bianca is laughing up a storm until someone gets in the ring right behind her. She turns around to a smiling Io. “You. Still. Didn’t. Beat.... ME”. Bianca just scoffs and walks out the ring.

Regal put in place Kairi a leave of absense to rest for her rematch so she’s ready. In the meantime, he scheduled two women matches. These matches consist of opponents Bianca beaten recently. Whoever wins these matches will face off next week to see who is Bianca’s contender. These the first match, it’ll be Deonna vs Mia Yim. The second match is Dakota Kai vs Lacey Lane vs Io Shirai (she still haven’t pinned Io). First match ends with Mia hitting Soul Food from the top rope. Mia is celebrating but Bianca comes out and just raises her title.

Next week, camera men and medical staff run to the scene. They rush to see Io clutching her leg. She says her leg is in serious pain. She said she was attacked by someone. Who was it? Was it Bianca? Was it one of her opponents: Dakota or Lacey Lane? William said he will investigate but to protect Io, he will have to take her out the match. He announced that Dakota Kai vs Lacey Lane will be the main event. As this is happening, you see Bianca in the background smirking.

Mia Yim vs Lacey Evans. Yim defeated Evans with Soul Food. She’s still going for that title and Bianca.

Main Event: Bianca comes out and sits on commentary. She’s raising up a storm, giving commentary so much attitude, and boasting herself. Dakota vs Lacey Lane. Dakota kicks and Lacey’s fastpace. Bianca doesn’t like the attention on her so she tries to cause a scene. Dakota and Lacey ignore it tho and the finish is: Lacey trying to hit the crucifix bomb, Dakota counters, runs into the ropes and hits the Kai-ropractor. 1-2-3. Dakota Kai has won. Dakota and Bianca has previous history. Bianca smirks. Then Mia comes out, looks at Bianca, blows a kiss to her, and heads to the ring. Her and Dakota have a staredown then they shake hands. Bianca gets in the ring and says “IM THE EST. WHO ARE YOU? I BEATEN BOTH OF YOU.” Bianca fucked up because next thing she knows she’s being attacked by both Dakota and Mia. Mia hits Soul Food then Dakota hits Kai-ropractor. They high fived as Bianca just stares angrily at them.

Next week (Late April time):

Deonna vs Mercedes Martinez. Hard hitting technical match. Mercedes Martinez wins and she’s gunning for the NXT title.

Bianca is furious. She was embarrass last week. She has to get revenge in some form. This is short because William Regal approaches her about where was she the time Io was attacked. She says she was with the Street Profits in the hallway. She saw the commotion and saw Io laying. William said he will investigate and she better hope “she’s not lying”.

Main event time: Mia vs Dakota Kai. So many kicks in this match. Dakota wins when with three kicks in the corner and a Kai-ropractor. Dakota has unleashed this new side of her. She has been tired of being treated like a child and bullied. She will kick another head off who tries her this time. She wins the match and Bianca just stands on the ramp. She claps slowly and whispers “Un de feat ted”. Bianca vs Dakota Kai is set and the match will happen two weeks.

Next week: William is still investigating. Bianca’s alibi checked out. She was cleared (for now). In the meantime, Bianca wanted a match. While she wasn’t in the ring after her Takeover match, she was training in the Performance Center. So Bianca wanted to do a open challenge for anyone. She wanted to give someone the spotlight of embarrassment. “WHO WANTS TO FACE ME? WHO WANTS TO GET THE BEATING IF THEIR LIFE? I NEED A WARMUP”. Out comes Mercedes Martinez. Bianca is a little shook but tries to shake it off. Athleticism and the toughest match of Bianca’s match. So many rear falls and Bianca can’t believe Mercedes is actually giving her a tough fight. Mercedes is dominating her more than Bianca. However the finish has Bianca rakes Mercedes in the eyes and rolls her up for the pin. Bianca wins, goes celebrate like she just won the title again and skips up the ramp. “IM UNDEFEATED “ she says as Mercedes is pissed. Then you see Dakota behind her and she blast Bianca. They brawl down the ramp and she sends Bianca in the ring. Mercedes hits the FisherMan Buster on Bianca then nods to Dakota.13-0

Next week:

William is still conducting his investigation and reviewing the tapes. The person had all black and covered their face. He puts Lacey Lane vs Deonna vs Lacey Evans. Deonna taps out Lacey Evans

Main event time. Bianca was frustrated. She can’t let what happened last week happen tonight. If she cheats again that means the division is seeing her sweat them. She must keep it together. She’s been training all week upping her game. Dakota been going at a crazier style as of late. This is her opportunity and she will kick Bianca’s head off. The match goes underway and Dakota goes off early. Multiple kicks to Bianca’s face. She goes for a fourth kick but Bianca forearms her. Bianca dominates for the latter half. Dakota kept fighting. She hit Kai- ropractor, goes for the pin, 1-2-2.99. Bianca barely kicks out. Dakota thought she had it. Dakota goes for Kai-ropractor again but Bianca grabs her and military presses her against the turnbuckle. Then as Dakota walks backwards due to selling, Bianca grabs her and hits KOD. She knows that’s not enough. She grabs Dakota again, hits KOD, goes for the pin.1.2.3. Bianca retained the NXT Women’s Champion. She smirks and stomps on Dakota. She leaves and Dakota gets an ovation from the crowd. She whispers: “Thank You”. 14-0

(May time). Kairi Sane is back and all healed up. She wants her title. She wants her revenge and she wants to destroy Bianca Belair. She seen Bianca reck havoc on the NXT division while she’s been gone and she’s sick of it. William Regal makes it official that at NXT Takeover Chicago, Bianca will defend her championship against Kairi Sane. Kairi Sane requested a stipulation: No disqualification. No countout. Falls Count Anywhere.

The next week of NXT, Kairi would have her return match on NXT against Vanessa Bourne. Vanessa just posing before the match, laughing at Kairi and when the bell rings... Kairi snapped to say the least. She pumbles Bourne to a wreck. She went off with strikes, kicks, and three diving elbows to Vanessa. This wasn’t the pirate princess NXT fell in love with. This was a vicious Kairi. The match was thrown out and officials came down to to fight Kairi off Vanessa. Meanwhile, Bianca (relaxing at a pool) appears on the titantron. “And they call me ridiculous. At least I own up to myself 24/7. Kairi you act innocent but deep down you and I know you have nothing about being a true champion. You get everything handed to you because of your stardom days while I have to work twice as hard and finally get what I deserve. You wanna act tough? Well at Takeover you better be tough because what I’m gonna do to you is will be considered ... an ASSWHOOPING. Now carry on.” Kairi just grabbed a mic and shouted in Japanese that she’s gonna kick Bianca’s ass then leaves.

William Regal put in place that Bianca and Kairi would not touch each other time Takeover. They have a contract signing in Regals office. “This is the MYC rematch from two years ago. Both of you have grown from that match but this match has more stakes involve. An undefeated streak, pride, a championship and respect..”Bianca interrupts,” Respect? Respect? No one respected me when I got here. The fans didn’t. You didn’t. She definitely didn’t. You got critics saying I’m not Takeover or championship worthy. But you know what? I don’t need their respect because I got THIS (referring to the NXT women’s title) and no one and NOTHING (looking at Kairi) is taking this from me. I’m suppose to take a pirate princess seriously? One minute she wants to be a pirate and the next she wants to be champion. Give me a break. At Takeover, I will break you and leave you a mess till the point that you wish you wasn’t a wrestler and you rather actually BE a pirate.” Bianca signs the contract and Kairi just glares at her, grabs a mic and says “I beat you once. Undefeated doesn’t matter. I will beat you again and again and again.” Kairi signs and they just glared at each other until Bianca just blows as kiss to her.

Takeover time. Bianca vs Kairi for the NXT women’s title. No disqualification. No countout. This match is more intense then their MYC match. Bianca controls early but Kairi loses it. Strikes and kicks.They battled on the outside. Bianca takes a chair and hits Kairi in the ribs. She place a chair on Kairi’s chair and hits the 450. She puts the chair on the side and goes for the pin. Kairi kicks out. Kairi reaches for a kendo stick and hits Bianca many times. Kairi is going ruthless. She wants Bianca to pay to costing her happiness. She hit her and Bianca runs in the ring. Just as Kairi gets in the ring, Bianca forearms her. She gets the steel steps from outside, and hits KOD with Kairi hitting the steps. 1-2-3. Bianca Belair retains the NXT women’s title. Kairi gave her a fight of her life and that was the most intense match. Bianca grabs her title and is about to leave. She turns about and beats up Kairi. This is until a returning Io makes the save. She beats down Bianca but Bianca gets out the ring. She then gets on he mic and reveal it was Bianca that attacked her. She says Bianca is scared of being second best and that’s why she attacked Io. Bianca just used her husband to cover her. She says that at spoke to Regal and at Takeover Toronto in a I Quit Match (in the main event), she will face Bianca for the NXT champion and prove who’s really the best. Bianca has a temper tantrum as Io helps up Kairi. 15-0

Bianca And Io train so much for this match. They studied so much of their opponents. This match was build as EST vs the Greatest Female wrestler ever. I Quit Match. Bianca plans to prove she’s the greatest female of all time. Bianca even did open challenges for the NXT women’s championship with Mia, Deonna, and Mercedes challenging her. Each match getting more intense for Bianca. She defeated all of them but was those matches enough for her to beat Io. 19-0

NXT Takeover Toronto. Io Shirai vs Bianca Belair as the main event. I Quit Match. , Kairi, Mark Henry, Sasha, Bayley, and Ember are in the crowd. Bianca tries to attack Io’s leg but Io is too fast for Bianca. Bianca gets an upper hand and forearms her. She taunts and bows to the crowd. Throughout the match, the ref ask do they want to quit. They refused. 619s. Forearms. Military press. A preview of their match The finish of the match comes when Bianca wants to outdo Io. She wants to hit a moonsault. She goes on the top turnbuckle. She goes flying but Io moves. Bianca crashes. Io takes Bianca’s hair and uses her hair against her to hook Bianca in a crossface. Bianca frighten tries to go to the ropes. The camera briefly pans to Sasha Banks. She However, Io moves to the middle of the ropes. Bianca tries to get out of it but Io was making it worse for her by pulling the braid harder. Bianca finally says “I QUIT! I QUIT!” and she is DE FEAT ED. She taps out. Io submitted her. Io Shirai is the new NXT women’s champion. The entire NXT women’s division comes out and roots for Io. Io just can’t stop smiling. Bianca gets up and just feels disappointed. She let herself down. That’s until Sasha Banks pulls her up and hugs her:” You did amazing. Don’t let this loss hurt you. Learn from it. You’re still the EST because you main evented a Takeover. Just wait till you’re main evented a Ppv. And maybe one day we can face off”. Bianca smirks and just said “ I never needed you at all”.

And that’s my booking. Bianca Belair becomes a star. I’ll start on my Sasha vs Bianca feud soon.

Kingdom Come Pt. 6 [Damian x Reader] AU

Pairing: Damian Wayne x Princess!Reader

Warnings: None

Word Count: 1545

MASTERLIST

[F/N] had always wondered what Damian’s home looked like. He rarely visited ever since he became her personal guard, and she never visited either. In fact, the location was kept hidden for security purposes.

Now, seeing the place for the first time, [F/N] was shocked by the beauty of it. The land was surrounded by a magnificent mountain range, keeping it shielded from enemies and any trespassers. There were numerous buildings, enough to be a small village. The largest building—[F/N] assumed it was the main building—stood tall and proud, but it didn’t overshadow the others. There were farmlands with fruits and vegetables, livestock, and young squires training to fight.

“This is incredible…” she breathed, “it’s not just a manor.” She turned to one of her escorts.

“No, your highness,” he chuckled, “we just call it that to keep our secrets guarded.”

“Clever,” she complimented, waving to the women and children running by. “How many live here?”

“I cannot say, for I don’t know,” he admitted, “there are those who lived here all their life, including me. We serve House Wayne, who in turn serve the kingdom. We function as a regular village, we have no use for outside help with the resources available to us here.”

“That’s amazing…” said [F/N]. “How come you never told me this?” she asked, turning to Damian. The young knight simply shrugged.

“My apologies, princess, I wasn’t permitted. Only the king and his council know of this. Not even the queen knew,” he explained, carefully choosing his words.

“Oh…” [F/N] nodded in understanding and kept silent, refraining from asking any more questions. She should’ve known—of course he couldn’t tell her. The Waynes were always known to be shrouded in mystery.

They arrived at the main house and immediately, the soldiers and servants bowed. [F/N] wasn’t sure who they were bowing for; her or Damian, but she hoped it was the latter. She watched as Damian’s father, Sir Bruce, descend to meet them. When he came face to face with the princess, he too bowed before her.

“Your Highness,” he greeted, “I am relieved to see you alive and well.”

“Please, be at ease,” she glanced around, realizing they were bowing for her, “all of you. You mustn’t feel the need to be so formal around me.” Hearing her words, they stood up instantaneously.

“Please, come,” Bruce led [F/N] up the staircase and into the main house, Damian following close behind. She felt uncomfortable being in such a foreign place, but Damian’s presence calmed her nerves.

“I hope you like our facilities,” Bruce began, “it is not like the palace you are so familiar with, but I tried my best to ensure it is deemed worthy should Damian accompany you here.”

“No, no it’s… it’s more than enough,” said [F/N], staring at the spotless floor and beautifully decorated walls. “So much has happened in the last few days that… well, accommodation is the least of my worries, sir.”

Bruce nodded in acknowledgment, but the princess could clearly see he was analyzing his abode, searching for any mistakes his trained eyes overlooked. After all, he too spent a lot of time in the castle and he had familiarized himself with the royal family’s taste.

“You must be exhausted from your journey. I have a room prepared for you. Please, follow Alfred.”

As if on cue, an old butler appeared, bowing graciously before ushering [Y/N] towards a particular direction. Frowning, [F/N] glanced at Damian with uncertainty, reluctant to leave him. She felt secure with him by her side, and ever since the siege he had not left her side.

Damian sensed her concerns and offered a small, reassuring smile. “I’ll be here, princess. You need not worry. Now go; rest. I’ll find you shortly.”

[F/N] nodded and followed Alfred towards her room. He was a kind man, a grandfatherly figure if she had to describe him in a way. He ensured she was comfortable and paid no mind to her silence. Instead, he opted to fill the awkward atmosphere with tales of the childhoods of all Wayne members, from Damian to his brothers to even Bruce.

“Here we are, your highness,” Alfred announced, opening a door to a reasonably sized room, “I attempted to prepare it the way I assumed you preferred it but I was unsure of your tastes. I do hope it is to your liking.”

The princess simply smiled, one of her very rare genuine smiles ever since all that happened. “It’s perfect, Alfred. You did a marvelous job.”

With a satisfied nod, the butler informed, “I have instructed some maids to assist you. They shall be here shortly.”

“Thank you.”

Alfred gave one last bow before exiting, leaving [F/N] alone in this foreign room. She was glad it wasn’t like her old room; it would evoke too many painful memories and she didn’t particularly look forward to having another breakdown.

Now, alone for the first time in a place where she was safe, [F/N] allowed herself to relax. Everything was chaotic, from the destruction of her home to the genocide of her people. She had so many questions. Who was left? What were things like back home? What system had the enemies established? Were people mourning the deaths of her parents, or were they celebrating? Did they prefer their new rulers over her?

So many questions ran through her head at the same time, making her slightly dizzy. She knew that her kingdom had problems. They were powerful, but being plagued with war caused the economy to suffer greatly. Numerous villagers and townsfolk had to be drafted into the army, creating unrest. They weren’t doing too bad with food, but like always there were the less fortunate of society who got the short end of the stick.

But was there enough people to raise an army to go against them? Surely it wasn’t her own people but their enemies, from neighboring kingdoms. [F/N] couldn’t fathom the thought of betrayal. She loved her people. She didn’t want to believe they would betray her.

No, it must be someone else.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock.

“Your Highness?” It was a woman. “We are here to help you bathe and bring you outfits.”

“Come in.”

Three women, dressed in a servant uniform, entered the room. One carried new clothing that was clearly meant for [F/N]. They all curtseyed in unison before quietly moving to prepare the bath.

After preparing the bath, the maids all worked to bathe [F/N], washing all the dirt and scars from her delicate skin. Days on the road affected her, but the maids tried their best to be as gentle as possible. They asked nothing about [F/N] and instead gossiped about the occupants of the estate and village. Once she was fully cleaned, the maids helped the princess into her new outfit and did her hair.

“There. You look beautiful, your Highness,” said a maid with a bright smile.

“Thank you,” [F/N] responded with a blush. It had been a while since she stared at her own reflection. Her [H/C] hair had been done beautifully, and the [F/C] fabric of her dress was expensive, but it wasn’t glamorous. She didn’t feel too overdressed, but it was certainly refreshing to be out of the dress she had worn for days.

“Your Highness,” another maid called out, “Master Damian is here to see you.”

“Oh, please let him in.”

Nodding, the maids opened the door and curtseyed to both [F/N] and Damian before dismissing themselves. Damian closed the door carefully before approaching her, studying her appearance inconspicuously.

“How are you feeling, [F/N]?”

“Better,” she acknowledged, “and cleaner. Thank you for doing all this.”

“There is no need to thank us, it’s merely our job.” They both exchanged a smile before Damian’s face grew serious once more. “Now that you’re ready, please follow me.”

[F/N] raised an eyebrow. “Follow you where?”

“To the war council,” answered Damian, a dark look flashing across his eyes, “we sustained heavy losses but my brothers managed to fill the… vacant positions.”

“And… you want me to be there?” she inquired with disbelief. A war council? She never studied war before, and she certainly hasn’t attended a war council either.

“I don’t,” Damian remarked in annoyance, “but as the last person of royal blood, it is compulsory for you to attend.”

“Oh…” Of course. That made sense. Of course she had to attend.

There were still so many unanswered questions, most of which could be answered by Bruce or the others in this council. [F/N] was scared. She wasn’t built nor raised for war, but in this period of desperation, people can change. She certainly has already. She was nervous, as she knew they would expect her input. If it came to her making the decision, she doesn't trust herself enough to make it, but this was something she knew she had to do. She couldn’t just let her kingdom burn and wither away.

She had to fight.

Swallowing her anxiety, [F/N] clasped her hands together and nodded firmly. “Then… let us not keep the others waiting.”

Whither the WWE Draft. A double-edged sword it has always been for the WWE, especially this year.

On one hand, it’s an awesome way to generate a two-night event on both RAW and SmackDown and an even better way to reset the roster. After all, we can all agree that RAW could use a breath of fresh air after the past month or two of SmackDown kicking its ass week after week.

Yet, on the other hand, this year’s draft comes in the midst of the build-up to the Hell in a Cell PPV in two weeks. Moving superstars around before the PPV might signal a way for feuds to end or for storylines to just disappear. It looks like that even though draft choices are announced, they don’t go into full effect until after the PPV. So there, it’s good news and bad news in some cases. We’ll break down night one below in our SmackDown recap. Still, we’ll get more over social media over the weekend and then on night two on Monday Night RAW.

Overall, for night one, here’s how it went down as The Draft takes our Star of the Week spot this week.

There were some bright spots, but for what seems like every Monday night for a month, RAW is disjointed and not clicking on all cylinders like its NXT and SmackDown counterparts. The main event was very good, as it should be with the talent in it. But, most did not. The two women’s tag team matches did little to impress. A good idea with Lee vs. Strowman was poorly executed. And, do we really need more 24/7 title changes between the same three guys? At least, Mustafa Ali got a spotlight!

Disciple, I am not – Thankfully, we’ve finally gotten to the stage of the Seth Rollins and Murphy relationship where Murphy has decided to not take The Monday Night Messiah’s message any longer. Now, with Aalyah Mysterio by his side, he’s ready to take Rollins down. Got to wonder who Seth will get now to replace him. After all, the Messiah needs his minions. BTW: What is the WWE’s fascination with kendo sticks?

Ali, the leader – RETRIBUTION has a leader now and his name is Mustafa Ali. A curious decision by WWE to have Ali, who’s been blowing in the wind the past few months with no real direction, but this one puts him squarely out front of one of their bigger angles. We know he has the skills in the ring, does he have them on the mic as the leader? I’m interested enough to find out and that’s a good thing considering RETRIBUTION was a laughing stock just two weeks ago.

Lee vs. Strowman – An exhibition match? WTF is that?! What a waste of our time. Especially with the draft starting this Friday on SmackDown, it makes no sense to do things like this and worse yet, end them in double count-outs. This only solidifies that Lee or Strowman are moving to move this feud along. Now, having said all that, the spot off the ramp was pretty cool.

KUSHIDA vs. Ciampa – Loved the opening match between KUSHIDA and Tommaso Ciampa! That is up until the point where The Velveteen Dream needlessly interfered. I get it, their feuding, but let’s not bow down to the lowest common denominator. Have him attach AFTER the match. DQ finishes are lazy, especially in this day and age. The new attitude of KUSHIDA is really awesome to watch and I’m looking forward to a rematch between these two or if they want a triple threat with a clean finish. Even the new look works for KUSHIDA with the jeans. Gives him an EDGE.

Ready to Fight:

Ember vs. Io: What’s better than Io Shirai getting ready to take on the returning Ember Moon? Well, how about adding Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai to the mix! And speaking of additions. That was a pretty sweet video re-introduction of Toni Storm to the NXT American audience. Things are looking up for the women’s division in NXT, a division that was already one of the best going in the biz! A welcome sight to see Moon getting over in the main event too after battling all the back, missing over a year, from that Achilles injury. There’s a good moon a rising folks!

Dexter & Ridge – It seems like we got a pair of NXT bad asses, one good, one bad. Dexter Lumis and Ridge Holland are taking no prisoners these days. Holland has his sights set a bit higher after his attack on Adam Cole at NXT:TakeOver 31. Or should we say HAD his sights set on Adam Cole. After trying to catch Danny Burch from his over the top rope leap after their match, Holland got stretchered out with ankle, knee and tendon injuries. Tough break there for a guy who was about to get a big break. It would’ve been nice to see Holland and Lumis team up at Halloween Havoc in a spin the wheel, make the deal match.

Hated it:

Short stuff – What’s up all the short matches? Austin Theory with a pair of them, plus Holland, Lumis and Shotzi Blackheart all went less than four minutes. Seems like a bit of forced stuff trying to get everyone in there instead of quantity.

Roman ups the stakes – Not only do we get Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso, part 2 in a Hell in a Cell match, but this time, for the first time ever, it’ll be an I Quit match too! Roman is making sure that if he beats up his cousin again, he’ll have to say it to the Tribal Leader’s face.

Fiendish Friday Night Fight – Kevin Owens against The Fiend in his first match on SmackDown was exactly what we expected. Two guys that don’t exactly look like they should be able to do what they do, but they do and giving us our money’s worth in a main event while they do it. Have to hope that these two, along with Alexa Bliss, end up on the same show after night 2 of the WWE Draft so we can see it again!

What they got right:

Seth Rollins moving to SmackDown – The Monday Night Messiah gig was getting old. Will it get new life on Friday night’s? Or will Rollins join up or take on old friend Roman Reigns and the Universal Championship?

The Miz & John Morrison to RAW – The Miz on USA Network makes perfect sense considering his two shows there including Miz & Mrs. that returns next month. Plus, the two were getting stale and becoming pushovers on Friday night.

Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston to RAW – This will bring some new energy to Monday nights, along with some fun. They should’ve brought all 3 members of The New Day to RAW though.

What they got wrong:

AJ Styles – He must really not like Paul Heyman, right? Why trade him to SmackDown a few months ago only to draft him back? Makes little sense.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio to SmackDown – Once Seth Rollins said he was glad to not have to see the Mysterios again, you knew they were getting drafted to Friday nights. Too bad, the paternity storyline is tired! Murphy joins them too after a Saturday morning draft announcement.

Breaking up The New Day – Hated it. For obvious reasons, the trio of Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston should stay together on the same show. Sometimes, you just don’t have to change things. Makes me think The Street Profits are headed to Friday night and a switch of champions could be in the offing.

Woods & Kofi return – Xavier Woods missed almost a year with an Achilles tendon injury. Kofi Kingston missed almost three months with undisclosed injuries at Extreme Rules: Horror Show. Both are back to take over the tag team division and it was oh so good to see the Dynamic Duo back together while Big E takes out Sheamus. Kinda cool to see them get right back at it with a title victory over the SmackDown Champs, Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura. Can you say 9-time Champs!

Dragon

This is what I’m working on right now for Camp NaNo! It’s been a concept since…freshman year? Maybe sophomore year? But now I am finally bringing it to fruition! It’s about a magic kid with anger management issues who’s destined to die saving the world, because I’m super original. It’s also very much about found family, because I’m a huge sucker for found family stories and of course I’m gonna write the kind of stories I love to read! It’s the longest time frame I’ve ever covered in a story, with the main storyline lasting from when the main character is nine to when he’s seventeen. It’s also been interesting to experiment with the PoV in this project. I didn’t plan this, but with a first-person past tense PoV, I’ve wound up writing the thing sort of in retrospect for the main character, so even though it’s a very close PoV the narration doesn’t always line up with how the main character feels at the time. (Mostly a lot of “I was very petty and stubborn,” because the guy is very petty and stubborn.) Anyway, the project’s supposed to be around 15k words, though so far it’s looking like it’s gonna be longer, and once I finish rewriting until I’m happy with it, I’m planning to put it online somewhere. Probably Wattpad, but who knows. I’ll link to it on this blog when it happens! (Many times. No one will escape.)

SABM

This is the story Leo’s from! SABM is such an old working title I don’t wanna admit what it stands for because it’s A) Very Bad and B) not even remotely relevant to the story anymore! I need a new working title. Anyway, it’s about this kid, Lydia (she’s actually the main character, contrary to popular belief), who goes to a magic boarding school! Because, again, I’m super original. She winds up roommates with another kid, Leo (yes, here he is), who’s very very friendly and immediately absorbs her into his friend group, where he meets Jenna and Michael, who you all may or may not remember, and their mentor/friend Olivia, who you probably don’t. The bunch used to have another friend, Zu (I gotta change his name), Leo’s old roommate, who was more or less bullied out of the magic school, so he’s definitely a victim but also highkey turned into an asshole and made a lot more victims, so it’s kind of about how being mistreated doesn’t give you license to mistreat others. The main story is about Lydia’s struggle to feel accepted into the main friend group, mainly because she doesn’t share this history with Zu with the rest of them and because while she thought she wanted to leave home, she misses it but doesn’t want to admit it, and there’s a side plot (which frankly can barely be called that since it’s just as large as the main plot; maybe a co-plot?) about Leo trying to deal with Zu’s leaving and becoming highkey an asshole. The idea is to play those plots against each other so it’s about how letting go of the past is important if holding on is harmful, but holding on is important if letting go is harmful, but the line between those two is far from clear and far from decisive. And magic factors into all of this, I swear. I want this to be a webcomic but at the same time I Do Not have the dedication required to actually sustain a webcomic, so while I am very passionate about this project, who knows what will become of it.

Spirit Woods is a story of gods, demons, and traitors. I conceptualized it in seventh grade, sort of, but it’s utterly and completely different now to the point where I have written three drafts, all of which I would consider first drafts as you’d never guess they’re the same story. And so much has changed since the last draft that the next one will probably be another first draft. This project seems fated to keep changing immensely and as a result never be completed. We shall see.

Dakota Chase is about a superhero kid named Dakota Chase who reads minds (originally he also had super speed, and the name stuck once I took that away) and how that affects his life as, like, a relatively normal teenager, in which Cody’s superpowers are highkey an analogy for queerness while his actually gay brother has a parallel arc with his actual gayness (though the superpower analogy one gets. Darker) (it’s a happy ending don’t worry (and the brother lives happily ever after with his giant dork of a boyfriend)).

Blood and Water/Voices/whatever else I called it is my first NaNo story from freshman year about a prince and a princess fighting over the throne and it’s about moral ambiguity and casual sexism and grief and strength and actually was a decent idea with really strong themes but mostly is an Embarrassment and I wrote eight entire pages about the prince trying to sew that had no relevance to the plot what am I doing

Nova is about a bunch of queer space pirates rebelling against a totalitarian space government and it was the first time I actually tried to be all thematic and statement-y and it went Badly and when I tackle this idea again I’m gonna focus more on just. Queer space pirates. Who doesn’t love queer space pirates

Dragonrider is (hopefully) gonna be a high fantasy western about a kid named Reck who learns to ride dragons and then maybe goes on a quest?? I gotta read a bunch of westerns before I make too many major decisions since I don’t know about the genre conventions yet. All I know is A) Reck’s parents died and his older sister had to take care of him because I love writing about non-traditional families and the character dynamics they bring, B) dragons came to the American West because of the gold rush, since dragons hoard gold and that just makes sense (plus lizards in a hot, dry climate makes sense), and C) if my pseudo-historical American West can have dragons it can also have queer and non-white characters treated respectfully (read: the main trio are a Mexican trans dude, his lesbian sister, and his nonbinary dragonriding coach; the story’s conflict is not centered around race, gender, or sexuality)

Anyway I’ll probably post this and immediately go “[INSERT MAJOR PROJECT HERE]. HOW DID I FORGET [INSERT MAJOR PROJECT HERE]” because I have So Many WIPS all of the time but have at least a sampling of all the things I’ve kind of made

Here’s Why Interstate Health Insurance Won’t Fix Obamacare

Congress has a new healthcare plan to replace Obamacare. It may go nowhere since many Republicans aren’t happy with it… and the problems it tries to solve will remain.

Worse, anything that gets past the House and Senate may not matter if insurers refuse to play in 2018. The big ones haven’t committed yet.

If the new plan doesn’t fly and Obamacare collapses—as seems likely and which I’ve written about before—what’s Plan C?

President Trump listed several ideas in his speech to Congress last week. Among them was this:

The time has come to give Americans the freedom to purchase health insurance across state lines—which will create a truly competitive national marketplace that will bring costs way down and provide far better care.

That sounds practical and conservativehe. Just reduce regulations, and the free market will provide.

Often, that’s true. This time, it’s not.

To find out what the problem is, look no further than a deal Citibank made with South Dakota 37 years ago.

Credit Card Loophole

When you read the fine print on one of your credit cards, you’ll likely see the issuer is a bank in South Dakota. It might be Delaware or Nevada, but probably South Dakota.

Why are the big banks issuing credit cards through South Dakota subsidiaries?

Back in 1980, with both inflation and interest rates at double-digit levels, banks were getting squeezed on credit card loans. State usury laws capped the interest rates they could charge borrowers, but not the banks’ own cost of funds.

Legendary Citibank Chairman Walter Wriston found a loophole.

A 1978 Supreme Court ruling said banks could set consumer loan interest rates based on the state in which the bank was located, instead of the borrower’s state.

Wriston had been asking New York legislators to raise the usury limit so New York-based Citi could charge higher rates nationwide.

When they refused, he looked for friendlier politicians… and found them in South Dakota.

That’s why your credit cards come from South Dakota. Citibank literally picked its own regulator and wrote its own law. Delaware and Nevada later made similar moves, but South Dakota was first.

The result wasn’t all bad. Today, credit cards are widely available in every state. Your interest rate may be higher and your spending limit lower if you have poor credit, but you can probably get a card.

If you think enabling more Americans to take on more debt is a good idea, we have the perfect system to do it. But what we don’t have is competition between states.

In theory, banks in any state can issue credit cards. But good luck getting one that isn’t from South Dakota, Delaware, or Nevada. Those are the choices the banks give us.

Separate Risk Pools

A state-based national market for credit cards isn’t exactly the same as one for health insurance, but it’s similar in some ways.

Instead of usury limits, insurance companies face state laws mandating certain benefits that raise costs and reduce profits. It’s one reason health insurance premiums are higher in some states.

So if we let insurers sell health coverage across state lines, people can bypass all that and buy in a state whose insurers best suit their needs. Sounds great, right?

The problem is that health insurers will likely do what the banks do with credit cards: congregate in whichever state lets them do what they want—which is to insure only healthy people.

The result, within a couple of years, will be separated risk pools. Young, healthy consumers will buy stripped-down, low-priced policies from states that allow them, while older, sicker people all cluster in the few states willing to cover them at a reasonable cost—if any will.

Sound familiar? Something like that is why Obamacare isn’t working.

This is where the credit card analogy breaks down. No one has to have a credit card. You won’t die without one. But everyone will get sick or have an accident sooner or later.

So… it’s been a while. It’s 1:24 am right now. Yeah, yikes. I just spent literally 45 minutes or more searching for the goddamn email to this account because I couldn’t remember it aghhhhh that was annoying. But don’t worry, I’m learning from my mistakes and I’m writing all my emails and accounts down now lol.

I should’ve kept this going. I wish I would’ve documented my senior year which was basically the fucking point of this blog to help me gather my thoughts and memories through such a crazy time. And it was crazy. Good, bad, ugly, and very ugly. I have some good memories and I’ve done things this year that I’m not proud of and I never thought I’d do. I wish I could erase some things but that’s the tricky thing about time. It’s linear right now in this tiny, human, 2017 perspective and I can’t change it. All I can do is learn, grow as a person, and move on I suppose.

I’m gonna do a review of everything I can remember of the highlights. Starting off with my teachers: I ended up really disliking Mr. and Mrs. D by the end of the year. Mrs. D gave me hell this year, partly my fault but unnecessary grief on her part. At least I got Hamlet and Siddhartha from Mr. D and I wrote a 10 pg paper about parallel universes that I’m very proud of. Nonetheless both their classes were struggles. I liked Latin a lot in the beginning and Mr. Du of course but honestly I kind of dreaded the class being the only senior. It was kind of pointless at the end besides the credit. I did get some useful knowledge out of it honestly, so it wasn’t a waste I guess. Bio was great I looked forward to the class pretty much every day. Mrs. A was such a sweetheart, so caring and funny and smart I loved having her and being able to have a chill class during the day. She made me feel comfortable enough to talk during class and ask questions, something I never really did during high school. I’ll definitely miss her. I weaseled my way into Mr. F’s class somehow and I had Liz so I didn’t wanna die as much as I expected to lol. Art class was kind of up and down. Ms. C filled in for Mrs. S for a few months and I grew to really like her and was sad to see her go. I wasn’t really looking forward to Mrs. S coming back to be honest because of how strict she can be with some things but she is really a nice teacher and she likes me a lot. She encouraged me and complimented my art work a ton throughout the year and I’m really grateful for that. I entered my self portrait into scholastics and I won the gold key award!!!! I’m proud of myself and Mom and Dad and Grandma and Papa and Mrs. C of course were thrilled and were all there to support me that day. Mrs. W was suuuuch a sweetheart, I really loved her this year. I’ve never been able to say I liked math class, liked my math teacher, and most unexpectedly- understood the math I was being taught. She really did make such a difference for me this year I’m so so so grateful I got her this year she was so understanding of my vertigo and helped me make up all my assignments and stand up to guidance when they gave me trouble. I’ll miss her a lot and won’t forget her impact.

So in the beginning of the year I was dealing with all the stupid drama with “O”. I’m mad at myself for acting the way I do when I’m in situations where I don’t want to talk to people anymore, I don’t know why I can’t just be up front. I really hope I can work like that because it really ate at me the way I treated her. She was making me uncomfortable and it was a sketchy situation but no one deserves to be treated like that and I need to fix that about myself. But that ended around the end of November when I finally started to post on social media again. I hung out with Timmy, Kate, and Laura practically all the time in the beginning of the year. We had Laura’s birthday party in November which was fun. However, September through about December was kind of a blur. I lost my drive to seek out spirituality and was disconnected from positivity. I was focused on bad decisions involving substances that I never thought I would go near. It was honestly a pretty dark time. I was depressed and looking back I’m just disappointed in myself. I lost sight of things that were important and healthy. It did continue on for a few months but I’ll get to that.

Halloween was probably the first instance since the summer when I realized the friendship between me and Laura faltering. In the summer she was going through one of the worst times in her life and I completely understand that. But she pushed me away and didn’t listen to me and she pulled some shitty stuff over me that I never thought someone would do to me, especially her. I was hurt. Then when the really bad stuff happened to her I sucked it up and I was there for her because being there when she needed support was more important than whatever I was feeling. So we were on good terms again but it was different. On Halloween when she was just being weird about our costumes was when I felt that tear again. It sounds dramatic but I don’t know how to describe it, that’s just what I felt. Then things kind of went smoothly between us for a while.

Christmas came around and I had a really nice holiday. I don’t think there was any fights and I just had a fun time. I took Timmy to the Christmas party and it may have been later that night or the next day I went to my first house party. It didn’t last that long but yeah. Then on New Years Eve I went to my first REAL party at the same place, it was crazy. I really did have a lot of fun and I danced the whole night. But enough of that, onto other stuff. In January I turned 18. I didn’t have a huge party or anything but I hung out with my family and I went to a couple places with Timmy that night. Trump got placed into presidency officially so that was pretty depressing obviously. I had the scholastics awards later that month and unfortunately more bad stuff happened with Timmy. It was a rough time, I just want the best for him.

I drew a lot in February and took a lot of cute pictures. I was getting back into a positive mindset and I was happier this month. I started watching Koi again. Spirit week for my senior year actually went well. I participated and took pictures every day, can you imagine? Tell that to freshman year Carina and she’ll laugh in your face. I was in the art banner group so I contributed something and it felt nice to say that for once. I went out of my comfort zone, even if it was just a little and dressed up each day. I cheered on gym day with Timmy and we won! I felt included for once.

March was another pretty good month, I was still pretty positive and getting back into a spiritual mindset. I forgot to mention earlier about going to clay- the best thing ever! Me and Liz really reconnected this year and we went to clay pretty regularly since about October til it ended and I really really enjoyed it. I picked up throwing and I was pretty decent at it. I went a lot during March and made a lot of pottery. It was my happy place and I’m really glad I had a positive space for myself to express myself and hang out. The whole St. Patty’s day parade fiasco happened. This is when I started feeling disconnected from Laura again.

In April it pretty much continued from March, clay, koi, and pretty good vibes. It was a really art based month and so was May. I drew another yoongi portrait which turned out to be my bed art piece yet. I’m still extremely proud of it. I love drawing him so much. When I realized I wasn’t going to get into temple I shifted my focus into CHC. I visited it and pretty much forced myself into thinking it was right for me. I was wrong, but we’ll get to that.

A few days after that I went on the art club trip to the Barnes foundation which was so freaking fun!!!! The art was so pretty and I had such a nice time I loved it so much. May was like the month of flowers for me lol. I ran the art show again and had a great time setting up and showing off my art. I was positive and surrounded my self with spirituality. I started watching Dakota and Claire who I really connect with. I’m glad I found these beautiful souls.

To side track: Laura started basically just ignoring me for weeks at a time around these months for a reason I still don’t know. I don’t know if I did something or if she was going through something… I was upset about it regardless. I felt like I was losing my best friend and I didn’t know why. I still don’t. After everything we’ve been through I don’t want to lose her. I love her as a friend and I just don’t know what changed in a year. I’ll get back to this.

June snuck up on me FAST. This was it. 16 days and I was done with high school. Shitty freshman year, rollercoaster sophomore year, blurry junior year, and my indescribable senior year. It was all coming to a close. The trip to Hershey was a blast, I had a lot of fun and I was dead by the end of the day. I hung out with Timmy for the day because Laura and Kate didn’t show up. This was when things were still super weird between me and Laura. We were talking but it was just weird.

My last week of high school finals came. I studied kind of lol but kind of not but passed everything nonetheless. I said goodbye to the teachers that I’d miss and that was it. I’m getting a little emotional writing this now. All the graduation and class day practices came which was a blur. Some of my last moments with my class. Baccalaureate happened and Laura actually came to dinner with my family and I after. It seemed actually normal for a second. Then came class day. I walked with Timmy and I felt pretty in my dress. I got loads of pictures with my friends and I got to talk to Rachel quite a bit. I really do love her, she was my first friend and is still one of the kindest people I know. Jenn sent me a graduation gift around this time filled with Mexican candy, a lovely letter, and a beautiful necklace. I don’t know what I did to deserve her honestly she is so kind and positive and I’m so grateful to have met her.

Graduation day. I made my cap an hour before heading to the school, I might as well be rushing for the last school event. We loaded the buses and headed to the high school. While waiting in the line I got to see Mr. H. I got to hug him and tell him how much I missed him and he said the same and told me to keep in touch. I should’ve emailed him but I feel weird to do it now considering what I’ll get to in a bit. We walked past everyone and walked into the gym. I found my family while walking to my seat and tried not to get emotional. The ceremony was honestly a blur. I got my diploma and soon the hats were thrown. I turned right for my family and they were so proud. I gave lots of hugs took lots of pics and soon the night was over. That’s it. High school is done. It didn’t really hit me until a week or two later. This chapter is closed.

Then summer started a few weeks ago. Things were the weirdest they’ve been between me Timmy, Kate, and Laura. It was like we split in half, we just weren’t talking and they’d ignore us. Me and timmy didn’t and still don’t know why. Eventually we hung out but it was still just super fucking weird. We hung out 3 times this summer, it’s just not what I pictured it to be.

Speaking of that. College. So no surprise my anxiety got the best of me. Sort of. I’ve just been so overwhelmed with the thought of leaving from the money situation, me having no life skills, being away from my family, having a stranger for a roommate, having a public bathroom, not being able to make my schedule- I just blew up a week ago today. I cried by myself, hyperventilating and just full on panic attack on the guest bed. I couldn’t do it. The next day I broke down in front of my mom. She got of the phone about financial aid and I just crumbled I was a sobbing mess on the kitchen table and just let it all out for once and I told her what I was feeling. This morning it was brought up again. Tomorrow I was supposed to go for my orientation day but I just broke down again when my mom brought it up and then she broke down. I felt guilty honestly. I don’t want to disappoint my parents but I want to lead my life the way I want it to go. My dad came in and I just broke down a slobbering mess again and told them everything. He took it well and agreed that I shouldn’t rush into everything. I don’t know why I let things bottle up. I don’t know why I expect him to take everything badly when he’s so understanding and so is my mom. I love them so much I’m crying. They always support me and I’m so grateful for them I love them so much I love them so much I love them so much I love them so much I love them so much. I don’t know what I’d do without my parents they’re my rock. I’m crying in the bathroom right now it’s 2:56am and I’m trying so hard to see to type.

Okay I’m trying to calm down. This is so raw. I’ve been so overwhelmed with emotions and this is the first time I’m really just letting myself express them and just cry?? Like not over a stupid tv show but actually cry about things happening in my life and letting my parents see and help me through my problems. I think this is good. I’m confused about my life right now and what decisions to make but I think my soul is trying to guide me in the right direction and I’m trying to be more free and trust in my gut and stand up for what I want to do. Honestly, at this point I don’t want to go to college at all. I’m in a mindset that I’ve never been in before where I just want to live a free-spirited, happy, lowkey, spiritual life. I don’t want money, or status, or a huge job or house or any of the material stuff that used to cloud my brain. I just want peace in my lifetime. I want to fill my soul with spiritual happiness. However I can’t just abandon my parents hopes completely. They’re already so fucking understanding of how I feel about letting me take off a year and figure things out. I guess I’ll at least give college a chance but I just want to go to community college or something. I don’t want a fancy life or wealth or whatever. I know they want what they think is best for me which is college and a good paying job and a husband and a white picket fence but that’s just not me. I know they only want the best I do. And I know they’re gonna think they’re failures if I turn out otherwise because my mom already blames herself and it is tearing me up inside that she thinks that but it’s not anything to be ashamed of for me to want something different than the herd of society and I just want them to see that. I want a simple life where I can just make enough to get by and be happy and comfortable with what I’m doing and travel the world and who knows if I’ll get a house or kids or even a spouse. I don’t know what the future holds for me. But I just want them to be happy for me and accept my decisions and lifestyle and not think that they’ve done a bad job as parents because of how I am. As much as I feel their support right now I feel pressured to be someone I don’t want to be at the same time.

I don’t know. I’ll probably continue that talk some other time when I father more thoughts but I feel overwhelmed again and my chest is tight and I just need to breathe. I’ll be okay. That’s enough of that.

This is so fucking long lol but what do you expect for not writing for a year Carina? So to wrap things up: this year was insane. I probably missed a lot of stuff. I’m dealing with future plans right now. I really hope I can work things out with Laura, I talked to her a bit tonight and told her about what I just talked about so that’s progress I guess? I built a better relationship with my parents this year and it’s only growing stronger. I want to work on stuff with my brother too because I’ve been the worst sister to him and he doesn’t deserve that. I need to treat people in my life better and I’m working on that. I’m in a wild emotional state and I’m trying to calm down. I’m trying to get myself to read more so I can read spiritual books and educate myself. It’s just been so hard to read lately? I don’t know why. I want to surround myself with positivity from here on out. Quit bad habits. Be around positive people or at least positive voices. I just want to be happy for once. This can be my chance to turn myself around. I hope it works out.

Portman: Bipartisan Regulatory Reform Will Create Jobs & Raise Wages

Introduced the Bipartisan Regulatory Accountability Act With Senator Heitkamp Yesterday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) delivered remarks on the Senate floor urging his colleagues to act on the bipartisan Regulatory Accountability Act he introduced yesterday with Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). Portman said that this bill represents “a great opportunity to break through the partisan gridlock and to get something done that actually creates more jobs, raises wages, and makes a difference in people’s lives.” The legislation is designed to make federal regulations smarter and more effective so they better support businesses, families, and jobs and modernize the federal regulatory process that hasn’t been significantly reformed in 70 years.

“Mr. President, I rise today to talk about legislation to give our economy a shot in the arm and to help raise wages for Americans all across our country. When I’m back home, whether it’s at a small auto body shop or a big steel plant or whether it’s at a soybean farm, I hear the same thing, which is people come up to me and say, ‘Hey Rob, all of these regulations coming from Washington. You know, I’d like to hire more people but I’m spending too much time and money trying to keep up with these regulations.’ I think that’s true with every member here, whether Republican or Democrat, when you’re back home talking to people, they get frustrated. Sometimes it’s local and state regulations as well, but a lot of them are coming from the federal government.

“One example would be a company called Whitacre Greer Brick. It’s a small family owned business in Alliance, Ohio, just outside of Youngstown. They told me recently that complying with one regulation is now costing this small company almost $1 million bucks that they don’t have. They’ve had to go out and borrow the money, and that’s been difficult for them. The cost of just complying with this one new regulation is about 10 percent of their annual revenues. Otherwise, that roughly $1 million bucks would have been invested in plant, equipment, and people. In other words, they would be able to create more jobs and modernize their facility if not for that compliance cost.

“They are not alone. It is happening all over Ohio and across the country. Costly regulations are causing companies to pull back on expanding jobs and creating more opportunity for the people we represent. So, look, regulation has its place, no question about it. We need regulations. I think everybody acknowledges that. It has a proper role. We need reasonable laws to protect health and the environment, prevent dishonest business practices, but let’s make sure as we regulate more and more that we have smart regulations, regulations that make sense and that don’t affect these small businesses as I talked about with this brick company in Alliance, Ohio.

“The reality today is that a lot of federal regulations are more extensive in scope, more expensive to these companies and therefore these workers, more unpredictable than they have to be to meet whatever the policy objectives are. So Congress writes a law and we have certain policy objectives and then the regulators take that and change the spirit of the congressional law instead of meeting that objective in the most cost-effective way possible. So, I get that from my constituents and the question is, what do we do about it?

“The other thing I hear about is the fact that regulators aren’t accessible. People don’t feel like they have any influence over it. And by keeping new businesses from starting, small businesses from growing, regulations are just making it harder for people to be able to make a living.

So how did we get here? Why are our regulations so expensive and so burdensome on workers and jobs? I think a big reason is the way the federal government goes about writing regulations. Too often, the process is unaccountable to the people. Too often, it’s based on sloppy or even bad information. The current law that gives us the basic framework for all this process is called the Administrative Procedure Act. This has been around for a long time. But guess what? It has not been reformed in any significant way in 70 years. So the APA, Administrative Procedures Act, is something I have studied in law school, as did other people here in this chamber. It’s something that you would expect would sort of change with the times, but simply hasn’t. And that doesn’t make sense.

“Imagine if we didn’t update our healthcare laws for 70 years. We’re talking right now about updating healthcare laws that were passed several years ago. Imagine if we didn’t update our immigration laws for 70 years. Imagine if we didn’t update our criminal laws for 70 years. You know, the world changes. It doesn’t make any sense not to update our regulations policy because we live in a growing and dynamic economy. Things are changing. And we have changed a lot in the last 70 years. We didn’t have things like microwave ovens or color TV’s. Our economy was 10 percent of the size it is today. We’re still using the same regulatory process that was put in place for a totally different kind of economy. By the way, in those 70 years, we have also learned a lot about how to regulate in a way that is more cost-effective, more efficient, and we need to put that into practice. So a reform of our regulatory process, in my view, is long overdue.

“So far this year, we have taken some steps here in the United States Congress to give small businesses very specific regulatory relief by rescinding some of the recent regulations that the Obama administration had promulgated. And we have done this about ten times now through what’s called the Congressional Review process. It is estimated this has saved the economy a total of $65 billion in regulatory costs and about 45 million hours of paperwork. And I have supported these Congressional Review Acts, most of them, because I think that they make sense. But this is just a handful of recent regulations. We have only addressed a few of the symptoms, not the underlying cause. We still have to deal with the underlying problem of the way regulations get made. If we don’t do that, the regulatory burden will just continue to increase. And by the way, this should be true whether it’s a Republican administration or a Democratic administration, the same rules ought to apply.

“All of this is why yesterday Senator Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota and I introduced bipartisan legislation called the Regulatory Accountability Act or the RAA, which would put in place some really important and very reasonable safeguards on the regulatory process to get better outcomes. Every president since Ronald Reagan, Republican and Democrat alike, have agreed with the idea that regulatory agencies should estimate their costs and their benefits is something that we all accept, so they put this into what are called Executive Orders, saying that you have got to go through a cost-benefit analysis. It’s just common sense. It’s the same way, by the way—your family does, families in Ohio do—when you’re making a decision. Whether you are going to buy that car, whether you can afford to send your kid to college. You figure out how much it will cost and what the benefit will be. That cost-benefit analysis certainly ought to go into regulations. And although every president from Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama have agreed on the need for that, it’s never been put into law.

“The first thing this legislation does is very simple. The Regulatory Accountability Act, the RAA, says that there should be a law—we should codify the practice so that businesses have the predictability of knowing that regulations are going to continue to use that commonsense cost-benefit practice. The Regulatory Accountability Act, the RAA, would then take the next step of requiring regulatory agencies, once they have figured out the costs and benefits of these proposals, to choose the most cost effective way to achieve a policy objective. Let me repeat that. To choose the most cost-effective way to achieve a policy objective that is the one we would come up with here in Congress in law, that the regulations that the people in the regulative agencies would have to do that in the most cost effective way. Common sense, right? Not done now. So this is a big change that’s an important part of this legislation. Again, it’s the same thing people do every day in their families when you’re deciding where you’re going to go school or what brand of milk that you’re going to choose, you know, you go through that kind of analysis. Let’s find the most cost-effect way to accomplish that goal, one that costs less and has the least impact on the ability to create jobs.

“As I said before, a lot of these regulations are really expensive. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, from 2009 to 2014, just 2009 to 2014, in those five years, the federal government published more than 80 major rules a year. Every year. A major rule means it costs the economy more than $100 million a year. Eighty a year for 100 million bucks a year. For these major rules, the RAA would let stakeholders ask a court to review the cost-benefit analysis used by the regulators so that we ensure that agencies are using the best information possible, not relying on faulty information or making mistakes. That seems fair to me, that we should have some process ensure they’re doing the right thing. Again, this really makes sense given the huge impact of these regulations.

“The RAA would make regulators more accountable also by bringing the public into the process. When folks talk to me about regulations, a lot of times their concern is they feel like they’re cut off from the process. Although they can come to me or their other elected officials and say we’re concerned about this law or that law, they have no access to the regulators. They’re not elected. They don’t feel like they’re accountable. They can’t complain to them, and there’s no influence if they do. So under the RAA, agencies would have to listen to public comments and proposals before making a decision. Again, this is an important change. Instead of waiting until after the decision has been made and potentially triggering years of litigation, the RAA would just move up that process. An ounce of prevention, my colleagues, is worth at least a pound of cure.

“It’s a lot better for our companies and for job creation to put some time into the effort up front to get it right than to have to fix it later. And I think it’s better for the regulatory process and better for a smart regulatory process in terms of taking our laws and putting them into practice. So the RAA requires agencies to choose the most cost-effective regulations, creates more accountability by involving the public, and ensures we’re using better information and takes existing practices and puts this them into law. Ultimately, this is going to mean smarter rules and better outcomes and gives us a better environment for creating more jobs with better wages. The RAA is going to free up more resources particularly for small businesses to hire more people, raise wages and purchase more equipment. That’s going to boost economic growth and benefit all of us.

“There are some critics who suggest that this bill will somehow kill the regulatory process and prevent new regulations from being issued. But clearly they have not read this bill. The reason this bill is bipartisan is because it gives the American people a voice in the regulatory process and it makes it more effective for both our economy and for our health and our safety. That’s the kind of commonsense regulatory process that hardworking taxpayers expect and deserve from their government.

“We’ve had a lot of support for this bill, from workers all over the country, and from a wide variety of industries including organizations representing truckers, farmers, electricians, manufacturers. It is a bipartisan bill and again it is bipartisan because it is a common-ground bill, it is a middle-ground bill.

“I first introduced the RAA six years ago, and it has passed the House of Representatives five times. By the way, on one of those stand-alone votes, 19 Democrats in the House supported it. Some Democrats who serve in the Senate today have supported it in the past because they were House members then. And by the way, that’s when the regulatory burden was less of a problem than it is today. I’ve always had Democratic cosponsors of the RAA when I’ve introduced it here in the Senate.

“I am happy to have Senator Heitkamp, Senator Manchin and Senator Hatch as the original cosponsors of this legislation in this Congress because this idea is needed more now than ever. It’s a great opportunity to break through the partisan gridlock and to get something done that actually creates more jobs, raises wages, and makes a difference in people’s lives. It is what I think the American people are looking for. That’s what my neighbors in Ohio tell me. They want us to be getting stuff done that actually helps them and their families, and is certainly an example of that. I urge my colleagues to join Senator Heitkamp, Senator Hatch, Senator Manchin and me in supporting this legislation that will create a more stable and reliable regulatory process to give the people we represent more opportunity. 2018 NFL mock draft: Bills’ blockbuster trade shakes up 1st round

What happens if the Bills make a big leap into the top five?

Editor’s note: This mock draft was updated to reflect the draft order after Week 15’s games.

After 15 weeks, the Buffalo Bills have managed to have a winning record despite the clear fact that they need to find a top quarterback for the future.

Armed with an extra first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Bills could package picks to leap higher into the first round to find their signal caller. But just how much would they have to give up?

Let’s use the framework of last year’s trade between the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans as a loose blueprint. That’s the trade that netted Houston its quarterback of the future in Deshaun Watson. The Texans gave up the 25th overall pick in the draft and a 2018 first-rounder for the Browns’ 12th overall pick.

If the Bills need to move high into the top 10 for a quarterback, it will cost more. It would cost both of Buffalo’s first-round picks this year. The Bills would also need to throw in a second-round pick this year or a first in 2019. The price might seem exorbitant, but that’s the cost of a quarterback.

1. Cleveland Browns: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

New general manager John Dorsey said in his introductory press conference that his job was to find a quarterback for the Browns. That should tell you what he thinks about DeShone Kizer, who has had a maddening rookie season. He could like Rosen, a traditional pocket passer with a good arm and a quick release.

2. New York Giants: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

The opinion on Mayfield is all over the place. On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Mayfield will get drafted higher than people think. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports followed that up by saying that "teams are all over the draft board" on Mayfield, but he could rise after team interviews. If Mayfield does rise, he could jump this far up the draft board, giving the Giants a successor to Eli Manning.

3. Indianapolis Colts: Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Inching up the draft order, the Colts would have a difficult decision to make picking between Barkley and an offensive lineman. Although protecting Andrew Luck is a priority, Indianapolis needs to become more dynamic in the run game. Barkley can be a player who balances the offense and gives Luck an excellent target out of the backfield. It’s not ideal to wait until the second round for a tackle or guard, but there should be good blockers after the first round.

4. Cleveland Browns (via Houston Texans): Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

Whether you slot him into safety or cornerback, there’s a starting spot for Fitzpatrick on Cleveland’s defense right now. That says as much about Cleveland’s defensive backs as it does Fitzpatrick’s talent.

5. Buffalo Bills (via San Francisco 49ers): Sam Darnold, QB, Southern California

This is how high the Bills may have to move to get a quarterback. It’s unlikely the Browns and Giants would trade down because they need quarterbacks. Although there is a danger in trading up for the third quarterback off the board, it’s a necessary move for the Bills. Darnold struggled at times this season, particularly early on, but he can make some impressive throws. More than any other quarterback prospect in this year’s draft, he knows how to throw to his open receivers.

6. Chicago Bears: Arden Key, OLB, LSU

The debate here would be between Key and North Carolina State pass rusher Bradley Chubb. Key is more natural at working in space, which makes him better suited for Chicago’s defense. The predraft interview process will be critical for Key’s draft stock.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bradley Chubb, DE, North Carolina State

This is one of the bigger no-brainer choices in the top 10. The Buccaneers badly need a pass rusher on the edge, and Chubb is considered by many to be one of the draft’s top players.

8. Cincinnati Bengals: Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

It was tempting to give Cincinnati a quarterback because chances are Marvin Lewis might finally be gone, and a new coach might not want Andy Dalton. But this pick sticks with needs, and Smith is the type of sure tackler Cincinnati needs.

9. Denver Broncos: Connor Williams, OT, Texas

You can make a strong argument that the Broncos should take a quarterback. But consider that they play against pass rushers like Joey Bosa, Justin Houston and Khalil Mack twice every season. Having a good offensive line is paramount, and Denver particularly needs an upgrade on the right side. Williams is the draft’s top offensive tackle and could start for Denver straight away.

10. New York Jets: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

Imagine the charismatic and mobile Louisville star with a big arm making plays for the Jets. Jackson could help rejuvenate a franchise that has relied on 38-year-old Josh McCown this season.

11. Arizona Cardinals: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

As long as Bruce Arians is coaching the Cardinals, this is a pick that's hard to change. Allen needs work as a passer and needs to become more accurate, but he's a perfect system fit.

12. Oakland Raiders: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

The Raiders may have used their first two picks on defensive backs last year, but they still need help in the back half. Pairing Ward with former college teammate Gareon Conley would give Oakland a solid pair for years to come.

13. Washington: Vita Vea, DT, Washington

Regarding Washington in mock drafts, for some reason I think the team will sign Kirk Cousins to a contract after the season. Anyway, with quarterback out of the way, a defensive tackle is Washington's top need. It's not really a reach to take Vea here because in the games Washington has been without Jonathan Allen the team has had trouble stopping the run. Having Allen and Vea up front would give Washington an impressive duo.

Why the first ever draft pick said no to the NFL

14. Miami Dolphins: Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame

This obviously isn't a fun, sexy pick, but it would be a smart one. Nelson is one of the best players in the draft and could help improve a Miami offensive line that is a mess.

15. Los Angeles Chargers: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame

Joseph Barksdale has been a problem at right tackle for the Chargers, and McGlinchey could start his career on that side of the line. Having him along with 2017 picks Dan Feeney and Forrest Lamp on the inside will help the Chargers finally field a solid line.

16. Green Bay Packers: Harold Landry, OLB, Boston College

The Packers need to get better at rushing the passer, and Landry can come in immediately and be a factor. He's quick off the edge and should fit well in the team's 3-4 defense.

17. Baltimore Ravens: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

Is Joe Flacco a bad quarterback now, or does he just lack good wide receivers? If you think it's the latter, drafting a good receiver in the first round is a must. Sutton is a big target with good athleticism.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Orlando Brown, OT, Oklahoma

It might not make sense to give up on Germain Ifedi after just two seasons, but he's been a liability for the Seahawks. Brown could get lined up at right tackle, playing opposite Duane Brown.

19. Detroit Lions: Billy Price, C, Ohio State

Price has the ability to play left guard or center, and in his first season at the latter he took home the Rimington Trophy. With the top pass rushers gone, the Lions could turn to Price to help bolster an offensive line that has some decent pieces.

20. Dallas Cowboys: Derwin James, S, Florida State

This deep into the first round, it would be hard to pass on James. The Cowboys could line James all over the field at multiple linebacker spots, in coverage and even as a blitzer.

21. Tennessee Titans: Sam Hubbard, DE/OLB, Ohio State

Hubbard can line up at several different positions for the Titans, and his versatility gives him some extra value in the draft. With Derrick Morgan, Brian Orakpo and Erik Walden all over 30, Tennessee needs to add some youth to its pass rush group.

22. San Francisco 49ers (via Bills, from Kansas City Chiefs): Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

Marquise Goodwin is a solid player for the 49ers, but he doesn't profile as being a No. 1 receiver. Ridley, the draft's top wide receiver, can be that lead wideout for Jimmy Garoppolo. After getting two offensive skill players in the first round, San Francisco should take at least two offensive linemen in the second and third rounds, if possible.

23. San Francisco 49ers (via Buffalo Bills): Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

For the 49ers there's a great risk in dropping back this far. This team desperately needs guard help, and Price and Nelson just came off the board. That could lead them to the draft's second-best running back in Guice. The LSU back has excellent vision and knows how to pick his run lanes.

For a team in the process of rebuilding a roster, trading a top-five pick for two first-round picks and a second-round pick could help accelerate things for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

24. Atlanta Falcons: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

Wilkins is a nice fit for the Falcons as a defensive tackle who is able to hold up well against the run and create pressure up the middle against the pass. His playing style is a nice fit on Dan Quinn's defense.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

Arguably the best non-FBS prospect in the 2018 draft, Goedert has the size of a tight end and the skill set of a wide receiver. With 67 receptions for 1,068 yards this season, Goedert's game should easily translate to the NFL.

26. Los Angeles Rams: Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn

The back half of the first round is where the value for cornerback should be, and that's helpful for Los Angeles. Considering that Both Trumaine Johnson and Nickell Robey-Coleman are free agents after the season and Kayvon Webster ruptured his Achilles on Sunday, this is looking like the biggest need for the Rams in the offseason.

27. Carolina Panthers: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

At this stage Ferrell is too good of a player to pass up with the 25th pick. The Panthers need a good defensive end, especially considering Julius Peppers is in the twilight of his career.

28. New Orleans Saints: Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas

The Saints could go into the offseason needing another linebacker even though they've brought in several players at the position. Jefferson is a player who can work on all three rounds thanks to his athleticism and football smarts.

29. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jerome Baker, LB, Ohio State

On Sunday night the Steelers clearly looked like they were missing Ryan Shazier. With his NFL future in question, the Steelers could look to add another speed linebacker to their roster. Baker isn't as good as Shazier, but his game is based on speed and tackling.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

With Terence Newman's age and the somewhat disappointing career of Trae Waynes, the Vikings could be back to looking for a cornerback early in the draft. Jackson is a ball hawk who has seven interceptions and 19 pass breakups this season.

31. New England Patriots: Austin Bryant, DE, Clemson

The Patriots have been a patchwork at defensive end this season. Adding an edge defender like Bryant would give the Patriots a 4-3 end who can play the run and pass.

32. Philadelphia Eagles: Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State

After Jason Peters was lost for the season in October, it was apparent that the Eagles need better depth at offensive tackle. Rankin could assert himself at the Senior Bowl as a first-round pick.
