hi sorry im like. so so mad about media so im putting this silly rant abt the witcher under the cut <3 spoilers for ummm the books or smth but i dont think my mutuals are into this so 👍

So i just hit Blood of Elves (the 3rd book) and met Triss. so not only did she literally SA/take advantage of geralt (as is the fucking pattern in these books w women towards him and the author and the plot treating any time geralt gets in this position as haha funny so many hot women want him :/) but she is um. absolutely fucking horrible. it is so confusing to me how so many fans love her (because even if you've only played the 3rd game, she LITERALLY point blank jokes with him about how people will no longer take advantage of him since he no longer has memory issues, and when he asks who was taking advantage of him, she was just like me :3. like its never elaborated on its just a fucking joke because we <3 feminism in this series!!) but if you've read the books it just becomes more clear how shes treating him. its a really disgusting pattern of behavior where most of his lovers either treat him like a freak and a mutant (which is sure soooo funny when hes treated like that by normal citizens) or just like a sexual object for them to use, with no regards to his consent. and by god triss has embodied both of those so so badly, where shes just nonstop either lusting after him (when he shows literally NO interest in her at this point lmao) or just treating him like shit. shes constantly guilt tripping him about ciri which is so fucking frustrating bc all the stuff shes bringing up under the guise of haha epic feminism moment is handled SO badly. she basically forces femininity on ciri who is like. barely 12 or 13 by this point (if my math is right) and who literally asks if triss will turn her into a boy and who is more than happy with dressing in male clothes. but triss finds this an absolute travesty that ciri literally has a diy haircut (or one of the men did it for her bc its mega crooked) and takes it into her own hands to turn her into a super pretty polished girl like. adjacent to beauty pageants but fantasy medieval. it is um. incredibly frustrating to see all of this and how triss consistently tells geralt his parenting sucks and that ciri shouldnt be with him (despite the fact ciri only feels safe around him and he does a rly good job parenting in his own way. like its not traditional bc he IS a cringefail adoptive single dad but its also like it doesnt need to be and he cares about her safety so much but wtv) and that he just overall sucks as a person. but we r supposed to root for the two of them to get together as in most of the games, she's the primary/most fleshed out romance option. and its like i do NOT expect ppl just playing the games or watching the netflix series to read the books but its also like she is genuinely really bad to him a lot, just talking down to him and it is actually um. very interesting bc geralt as a character is very emotionless a lot of the time (some of this is due to him being a witcher but some of it is just his personality or the trauma hes endured) but the increase of him just being upset or silent and resigned has increased tenfold in just the first 100 pages of this book. its so so frustrating to see esp after seeing how bad yennefer was treated, i really hoped triss would be better. but in every single way she's been worse.

gigi is moaning because she doesnt need a babysitter. you and matty are on your way out, and adam and carly are getting their son situated in the warm lounge where all the little girls are already bathed and in their pjs. you are dressed the the nines, matty's eyes already landing on where you legs meet your skirt more times than you can count. gigi is sixteen and moody.

"mum this is humiliating," she says, sitting on the bottom of the stairs with her chin in her hands.

"oh darling, they aren't here for you. at least this way the little girls wont be bothering you all night."

"what you moaning about, gi?" matty says, not looking round from where he is fluffing up his hair in the mirror.

"she feels she is too old to have a babysitter," you explain. matty rolls his eyes at his eldest daughter in the mirror. "gigi you are a baby. now get in the lounge and play snakes and ladders in your pjs."

gigi storms off upstairs. stupid matty she thinks. he always sees her as a baby and she isn't. well fuck them. she's going out. a message on her phone from one of her friends reads, cool party tonight, you in? and she texts back and says yep

she sneaks out the house an hour later, looking like a mini version of you in her party dress, her black curls exploding around her face. shay is crying in the living room because she lost snakes and ladders and carly is trying to comfort her while adam corrals the rest of them. they dont notice her leave.

she giggles in the taxi all the way to the party with her friends, drinking cocktails from cans that her older friends picked up. she is starting to feel great. as long as she gets home before you and her dad get back, she'll be golden. you guys will never know.

the taxi takes them out into the countryside, and then pulls up at a farm, where a big barn looms, lights inside, music pounding. there are people outside, leant up against the barn, drinking, laughing, smoking. gigi gets out the cab, grinning. this looks fun. the alcohol is rushing through her veins. she wants to dance. she grabs her friends and they run inside. no one asks her age or for her id.

she is dancing, wildly, her and her friends holding hands and in a circle. the lights are pretty and she can feel the music under her skin. she is having the best time. a couple of her friends break away to go to the loo, and another is making out with someone they just met, and she is laughing at them and while she does, a huge man dances in front of her, blocking her view, nudging her slightly.

"oh sorry love," he turns to her to say. they meet eyes. they both freeze. its her uncle george. his face cracks into a massive grin.

"it's my gigi girl!" he yells, and grabs another person, a girl with long black hair, to get her attention. its gigi's aunty charli who laughs and points at her when she realises who it is.

"omg little party girl!" charli says. gigi rolls with it. they're drunk. they dont have the capacity to have a coherent thought right now about whether she should be there or not. they dance together, charli grabbing her hands and spinning her round. george lifts her up and onto his shoulders, spinning round too, so she throws her hands up and whoops.

"hey man i..." another voice says below her. its someone talking to george. gigi looks down, into a big beardy face. its her uncle ross.

"gigi!" he yells, "what you doing here?!"

he's grinning. she still isnt in trouble.

"partying!" she yells back.

"woooo!" ross says, and joins in dancing with them. when george puts her down, she stands on ross feet to dance like she did when she was teeny tiny, and she laughs when he dips her to the ground like she is a ballroom dancer. except. when she bobs back up. there is another man dancing with them. dancing like a loon. his white shirt sweaty, half open, his eyes bright, his curls wild. gigi doesnt mean too, but she looks at him dead on. their eyes meet. its her dad. what is he doing here?! this was supposed to be a cool party!

"oh no," he says, stopping dancing abruptly, pointing at her "absolutely not!"

"come on man," george says, "let her live a little!"

"dont worry george," she says, "its not living if your dad is at the party"

george laughs and ross says, "isn't that one of our songs?" and matty grabs gigi by the wrist and leads her off into the crowd to find you, mumbling, "just wait until your mother hears this." gigi grins. shes had fun. but she's kind of tired. sleepy. its late. she cant wait to climb back into the cab with her angry parents, get yelled at, promise never to do it again, and then get into her pjs with them in the lounge with a cup of tea and play some snakes and ladders.

he's from around where the deepsea metro is/was. had to leave because of unstable surroundings from an unknown to him cause. he's best friends with Rust and her kids, im gonna be honest i haven't actually thought through how they met and ive just realized this oops. since he spent most of his life underground and now lives in the splatlands he gets sunburnt way too frequently to not be covered up constantly, though he wears thing like tank tops and shorts during splatfest since those mostly occur during the night.

He met wisteria and ember first and then 72. they didnt apoint him as leader nor do they really care to have one but he's the tallest so everyone assumes its him. he's the most softspoken out of the 4 of them but thats a really low bar, he has a hard time making decisions but once he does he will die on that hill

(since its not on his ref like the other three)

72 escaped the metro before agent 8 went through it, he had found a memcake that was dropped after a test giving him just a clear enough mind to think for himself some. he ended up finding his way out after a while of accumulating a couple more memcakes, barely any where his though so hes walking around with memories that aren't his. It also took him a while to get used to the fact he isnt a soldier nor a test subject anymore. If he saw another sanitized mollusk he'd probably hide or run away </3.

72 met Ghost while after wandering around the area for a while, and ended up crashing in his car the whole time on ghosts way back to the splatlands (he thought 72 was like, drunk or something since he was tumbling around and seemed to be not the most coherent). he doesnt blink or breath unless hes actively thinking about it :[.

he had a hard time discerning things for a while but hes gotten better, at first he thought ember was just a weird octoling because she wears the old octoling goggles. we beat the evil soap with friendship in this house!!!

personality wise hes pretty hyper and cheerful which isnt usually your first thought upon seeing a zombie, forgot his age but hes an adult, he was encouraged to pick his own birthday :]

Ember's both a video game and turf/anarchy streamer, she has camera in their goggles for the latter. bad habit of talking in twitch/internet lingo outside of streaming. Once she has eyes on something its nearly impossible to get her to do something else. Very friendly outside fighting, will give you nice words and a pat on the back after a game whether they won or not.

met ghost while playing turf war in a random que, he was, in her words, "a bit to intense to be playing in turf" and told him after the game that he should try out anarchy, he was scared of it since he was new to the area. they ended up teaming up and playing a couple games together, later inviting wisteria and eventually 72.

sorry about that last rambling post, i didnt mean to sound like its worse than it may be, but i got no ... lense to view it through but my own, and the main reason i wrote it out anyway was bc i needed to get it out (even if posting it might be not the greatest idea) .. and bc it kinda showcases, i think, how my stories kinda write themselves, involuntarily in a way? its not like im not putting in any effort- but its like .. i cant STOP it always keeps going and even the dumbest idea stays in some form, its very hard to get everything in place bc theres so much going on all the while i am very slow at making anything, writing or drawing anything, especially anythign coherent is very hard bc not only do i get constantly distracted, i get distracted by my own thoughts suddendly skipping to a certain scene and me having to go throguh imagining in detail NO MATTER how many times i have done it before for the same scene that i already decided on how it goes, when theres a new idea it can take over my entire day bc i cant let go of it-

not trying to sound either like im the only that has that sort of problem, but i think its a big part as of why i start tso many projects without being able to finish them, or even start them bc i constantly have to fight my own thoughts from derailing into another daydream session, thinking of too much too fast than i can ever draw or even write about and not knowing what is worthwhile and what isnt (im telling you i have no idea what is good and what isnt, idk why but for all i know all things i do could be trash, or they all could be bad, maybe the one i thinnk is decent is actually worse than the things i deem not good enough and once i start to think no this isnt good enough i stop having fun making or thinking it bc im trying to do better

honestly its kind of impressive that i can get anything out at all, not to pat myself on the back there but even if i hate how long it takes me, considering how much im having to work just to start working on something at all, the fact that i could post stuff coherent enough for some people to understand AND LIKE is something i should be a little more proud of

i really don’t care what white people have to say about sumeru. i mean this, genuinely and truly, i do not care about your opinion on the matter. this is not something you should insert yourself in. i would, however, appreciate if you sat down and listened to south asian and swana people such as myself talk about this. fellow bipoc, feel free to join the discussion. 

to understand the racist caricature that is sumeru, lets talk about orientalism and the exoticization of west and south asians throughout the ages. the “middle east” itself is an orientalist creation, being named for its proximity to europe instead of its actual region of west asia, and continues to be referred to as the “middle east” to this day. the french and english also had a huge role in the geopolitical breakup of both south asian countries (the biggest example being india) and almost the entirety of west asia. a side effect of this was the commodification of asian women into sex objects, and asian men into several different unsavory categories (too feminine, too scary, or just downright dirty and undesirable) or oversexualize them too. 

 you can see this happening in western media constantly, and may have even noticed the repetitive portrayal of SWANA nations and people. women are always beautiful, but not free, because many white westerners refuse to believe that women can have rights within islam (read about islamic feminism here!). there’s always a camel or something, they’re in the desert, and there’s a snake charmer somewhere. it’s repetitive, boring, and lumps every swana country together despite regional, cultural, and phenotypical differences between people. 

so, what does all this have to do with sumeru? maybe it’s the fact that three out of five of the upcoming female characters are in bellydancing costume. or that they erased all culture and meaning from the names of certain characters, al haitham being the father of modern optics and tighnari an important botantist, author, poet, and physician.  or that literally every character, save for dehya, is white as snow. 

that, specifically, can be chalked up to genshin’s rampant colorism / racism and the constant whitewashing of darker skinned characters. in the most recent event, xinyan just had a slight tan, and kaeya gets lighter in every piece of art that’s drawn for him. 

if you’ve ever met an asian person, you know that we come in all sorts of shades, sizes, heights, etc., and this is just not representative of south and west asia at all. the north african elements have also been entirely scrubbed, leaving a glorified jungle mondstadt. 

the issue also lies in the amount and the size of the regions they chose to base sumeru off of. west asia contains 17 countries, south asia contains 8, and north africa contains 7. though there’s been a lot of cultural trade and some things are similar, there just isn’t enough homogeny to get a good feel of what sumeru is or will be. 

tldr; sumeru’s bad. its not just the orientalism (from a chinese company nonetheless?), the colorism, and the racism, but also the blatant disregard for SWANA and south asian people throughout the entire creation process. i’m sick of people chalking it up to ignorance. they could have looked anything up at any time, but they simply chose not to. hoyoverse is not innocent. sumeru is terrible, and i’m afraid that natlan will be worse.

OKAY PERCY JACKSON SERIES THOUGHTS REAL QUICK not in any particular order just what my brain is spewing

okay so like. it was so good. screaming crying throwing up like!!!!

walker leah and aryan are all excellent and i'm so excited to see them throughout the rest of the show

special shoutout to leah because in these first two eps she's had a lot less screentime than the other two and yet she has completely stolen the show for me

the car and then minotaur scenes would have been really good if i had been able to see them

i feel like i was expecting luke's scar to be bigger. this isn't a complaint or anything, just an observation.

percy praying to his mum <3333 there's one thing percy jackson will do and that is think of his mum as a goddess

i really REALLY liked virginia kull as sally, but a lot of the dialogue in her scenes felt a bit clunky to me. idk i know they need exposition and all that, but some of it felt a bit weird. especially their conversation right before she was killed

okay i know a few people in the tag have already talked about this, but sally and gabe felt a little off to me. i know the posts i've seen have said that they downplayed how completely and utterly awful gabe is, and while i do think it was downplayed a little bit, he was still bad enough that i didn't feel like that was a major issue. the part that didn't feel quite right to me was the way sally argued back at him. i feel like what she says to him is kind of what the audience should WANT her to say (because gabe's a dick), but the point is that she doesn't say that, because sally jackson loves percy so damn much that she willingly endures that until she is able to get out of that situation. i swear i'm not going to be like "tHiS iSnT hOw iT iS iN tHe bOoK" much, because it's an adaptation and it's going to have to make some changes and that's fine! but in the book, percy states that he's "never heard her raise her voice or say an unkind word to anyone, not even me or gabe" and keeps on emphasising how she constantly withstands gabe and doesn't move against him because of her love for percy, and i just feel like that's an important aspect of her character. also i feel like sally arguing back at gabe is going to make her finally killing him less impactful. and i think it probably also plays a part in gabe's assholery being downplayed. because the argument they have there feels much more like "oh we're so dysfunctional ha ha" instead of "this is an abusive household". you know what i mean? idk i get that it was meant to be a #girlboss moment, and a part of me was like "YEAH GET HIS ASS", but i do feel like that moment didn't serve sally's character as well, changed the dynamic of sally and gabe's relationship, and negatively affected the impact the story will have when percy gives her the means to get rid of gabe and she takes it. this is a very long dot point i'm sorry.

Sorry if this is is a weird question, but how do you draw so many different shapes and poses so fluidly?

(I have a drawing style based on realism and I'm having a lot of trouble finding ways to adapt to different poses and expressions in a way that makes sense to me)

Not weird at all!  A lot of my process is breaking things down into simple shapes and making silly mental notes to myself like “ the middle finger is usually always longer than all the other fingers” and “ overlap this line here to make the arm bend look more believable” fjhgsdjhfsdgf

Now, I could spend time drawing out the musculoskeletal structure of everything and all the joints and where everything goes, but that’s extremely boring to me and i’m impatient. So I opt for simple color blocking the silhouettes of shapes. Just enough so I know what I can manipulate, and how. Besides, you can always add details later. Focusing on details immediately is the quickest way to get frustrated, no matter what kind of style you have. Take. Your. Time!!!!

The way I approach it is similar to tweening in animation, or the intermediate frames between two key frames. Y’know, those frames you see when you pause something and the character looks stretched out/disfigured ? Those frames are what create more movement. Same can be applied to the drawing process! Lets look at this lil doodle here:

Sure, the subtle stretch of the circle shows decently enough that these two both have the circle, and want it, and don’t want each other to have it, but it doesn’t really feel like it, does it? buuuuuuuuuuut..

If we stretch it a lil bit and emphasize the STREEEETCH (and the effect of it on the poses respectively), it looks a lot more exaggerated, which makes it more fluid. You get a better sense of the tug of war between these two. Who will win? Will the circle stay in one piece?? Did these two ever learn the concept of sharing???? What matters is you can see the movement a lot more clearly.  Especially in tandem with the first doodle. There WILL be a victor here.

You can apply this to basically any shape! Once you break down your shapes, see how they fit with the movement of what you’re drawing. Stretch and squish and squeeze as needed. Combining curves with straights aids in bringing more movement by allowing some contrast to show where the stress of the movement is the highest/most influential. OH also...

DRAW THROUGH YOUR SHAPES!!! This helps you follow the form a bit easier, which will lead to more coherent movement throughout your drawings!

You can see where i’ve  kept the initial lines and where i’ve drawn the back of the head and how it feeds into the neck, which then feeds into how I “attach” the shoulders to the torso. This also provides consistency, which I find is super helpful in guiding me to where the “flow” of the pose is going or more prominent. You can (sorta) see where I made the right eye slope a bit upwards to follow the contour of the purple circle I used for the initial headshape. The distortion makes it look more dynamic, even when there isnt any real movement going on here. It provides depth and feel and a sense of where these shapes are sitting in relation to other shapes.

(its a messy sketch, but hopefully you can see where I was goin’ with it LOL).

Learning to abuse foreshortening is also a good way to get some fluidity in your poses/expressions. The whole concept relies on making a deal with perspective to elongate, overlap, and compress shapes to “fit” within the composition. It might also help to try figuring out which edges and contours are more important to your composition, and accentuate them as well!

You softly hummed to yourself as you stirred the warm cup of tea in your hand. You were lost in your thoughts and didn't register a presence behind you. A pair of soft hands wrapped themselves around your midsection, causing you to jump up in alarm.

"Steven! You scared the living daylights outta me!" You hit him lightly in the chest. He laughed softly and pulled you closer into his embrace. He nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck and you let out a content sigh.

Mornings like these with Steven were heavenly. He kissed the back of your neck, causing goosebumps to spread. You shivered under his touch and he smirked at your reaction. He started trailing kisses from the back of your neck to your ear, all to your nose, finally landing on your lips. He placed the cup of tea in your hand on the counter, turned you around and placed his lips on yours hungrily.

You giggled at his eagerness and returned the kiss just as filthily.

"Someone's eager."

"What can I say, love. I love how you look in my shirt." He whispers as his hands slide underneath the fabric and traces patters on the side of your stomach. He left feather like touches all over your body, trailing his fingers along the curve of your back before cupping your breasts, lovingly. A finger ran over the sensitive nipple of your breast and you suddered a loud moan. Unable to form any coherent thoughts, you arched your back, allowing him more access to your breasts.

Steven pulled the navy blue shirt over your head and watched eagerly as your breasts bounced. He cupped them again and whispered, "I missed you darlings."

Your face grew hot at his antics and felt his breath fan over your exposed chest and grunted at him, telling him to touch you where you needed him to.

i don't want to sway the votes so i won't do any propaganda for them after the poll starts BUT it's Wu Zetian/Li Shimin/Gao Yizhi from Iron Widow i just love the way their relationship develops so much and as someone whos unable to actually pick up a book and focus on it, the fact that i read iron widow in 4 days is amazing im still proud of that as silly as it is

yknow what ill use this as an opportunity to ramble about them askdgakdjk spoilers ahead but ill try to keep the major stuff out

for context the book has pacific rim style mechas, but instead of being drift compatible or whatever its usually a male pilot and his concubine whose life force he usually drains in order to pilot the thing, but theres a LOT of propaganda that makes girls want to be concubines, or families might wanna send their daughters for the money. im simplifying it a LOT especially cause theres more info u only learn later on as zetian herself finds out but anyway

at the start of the book zetian and yizhi are besties who obviously have feelings for each other. zetian is poor while hes very rich so their friendship is kind of a secret and they meet in the woods which i think is cute, point is its p clear zetian tries to mantain a distance, not allowing herself to admit her feelings. for reasons i wont say zetian decided to become a concubine to one of the like bigger more badass guys even if she doesnt believe the propaganda and knows she might die, she only tells yizhi this the day before

he shows up at her house the next day begging her family to let him marry her?????? which is sweet because he wants to protect her but that isnt gonna work bestie sorry she's a woman w a mission

so anyway she goes to the concubine thing and shes surprisingly powerful "for a girl" which yeah thats a super common trope but shes so much more than just the strong protagonist. shes extremely powerful in every sense of the word imo and i love her so much and i wish the world hadnt been so cruel that she had to become so strong. but anyway the guy she wants to pilot w picks her. MAJOR SPOILER they have to pilot the mecha on day 1 cause they're under attack and uhhh she kills him lol lmao she drains her life force instead which supposedly is UNHEARD OF

so they cant just kill her off cause that'd look bad instead they send her to be the concubine of the strongest guy (all of his concubines die after 1 fight) and thats Li Shimin my beloved my little meow meow hes looked down on and kinda treated like an animal cause hes a criminal and the only reason he gets to be a pilot is his powerful qi. anyway shes forced to live w him and turns out hes just a lil guy. like hes very big and scary looking but hes just a tired man pls he needs a break. she fucking survived piloting w him which nobody expected. so now theres a lotta stuff going on i wont get into but some ppl arent happy w this duo cause they're both very powerful and not exactly happy to serve. and Shimin has a drink problem.

IN ENTERS GAO YIZHI hes back babey!!! and he decides to help shimin w his alcoholism. its funny cause when they first meet his crush on li shimin is so fucking obvious zetian is like "huh i always suspected he liked guys too" but li shimin is just pissed cause this is the guy who wants to make him stop drinking

theres like 1 moment of jealousy that i can remember when li shimin realizes zetian and yizhi have a thing going on but its settled very quickly and they all kiss.

back to the drift compatible thing: at one point in the final battle zetian and shimin need more power and yizhi literally lends them his qi (its extremely rare for a third person to help) and its beautiful and they are so in love and i cant wait for the sequel

okay so sorry to the third person but i dont want to explain tlt lore so im just gonna assume people know tlt lore. anyway the empire just...doesnt make any sense? which is fine, its not about imperialism. but like, its not clear what exactly the empire is trying to achieve, how its enriching the metropole, etc. its not even clear WHO the empire is fighting? like, we see them occupy territory in NtN but we know that the empire is almost entirely devoted to warfare and yet who that warfare is against is unclear. they move the populations around for like no reason?

i mean, my very loose guess at whats going on is that tLT is actually a critique of extraction-based economic systems (i.e. every economic system since the beginning of time, call me when your premodern society isnt consuming a fixed and irreplaceable quantity of rock), for allegorical magic reasons the biosphere on the nine houses is fucked so theyre almost entirely depend on mining and such, i guess they ran out of material to extract in the solar system (i mean, it is thousands of years later), and so they acquire other planets to mine (plus farm? unclear) them to smithereens (this seems to be described pretty explicitly in NtN), the necromancy means ecological devastation is at megaspeed, the war theyre fighting is over natural resources. obviously itd just be cheaper and easier to extract from uninhabited planets but maybe they need the billionare descendants as like, labor?

so anyway this is bad because 1) "we will run out of resources to extract one day" is, while technically true, kind of a stupid argument imo. like yes obviously eventually, but like, its not modern luxury or whatever that relies on mining, its like...literally bronze age (technically stone age) technology that relies on mining. and a pre bronze age life sucks. and you could make the argument that while yes we could be using it more efficiently, entropy is against us so no matter what you do youll run out *eventually*. so like, then what? you have to make an argument that its running out *soon*, and those are dubious imo, and

2) real life empires were not about extracting natural resources! i mean they were a little. but they mostly werent. the motivations for empire were/are complicated but like, economy is not just "more natural resources good, less natural resources bad", the economy is mostly social and infrastructural wealth, which is complicated to maintain. so again, bad critique of empire.

3) but most importantly, tLT is run by an immortal superpowered godking, and as such the politics in world are totally alien to ours. like, in our world institutions and incentives overwhelm human motives both because humans alone are very weak, theyre only significantly powerful insofar as they can control other humans (or tech), and then also because humans are mortal so institutions outlive them. but tLT doesnt work like that at all, so its capability to be coherent commentary on earth politics is pretty hobbled? which is why it isnt, its a story about its characters, who are complex and whose actions are important on the scale of the characters we know. like yeah jod killed billions but because of the way fiction works this is not the important thing about jod, the important thing is how he treats people we see, which is much more nuanced and complex (alhtough still bad)

uhhhh i had more points. the state of tech in the nine houses is really silly, i know its tied to the resource stuff but it doesnt really make sense anyway. like, tech helps you get more resources. also the nine houses are very short on labor which prioritizes technology. and necromancy doesnt seem to replace technology that well, its pretty limited, esp cuz a single necromancer can only control like, what, ten constructs tops? also the idea of a war-centric economy for thousands of years is really silly. like its just totally infeasible. its fine! the worldbuilding is meant to be evocative and work on first glance, not be a totally functioning system, and it isnt

i think he would be a really good detective/strategy based vigilante. i don't think he would actively be like. patrolling? i think he would be really focused on bigger projects like dismantling a drug cartel or a criminal organization. he has many ways of finding intel (hes a sneaky lil bastard) and hes yknow. really smart.

he obviously learned how to fight, hes picked up many strategies from the bats, and i like to think that hes spent a lot of his life in various martial arts* (kind of like kate bishop) so he has some sort of background in fighting. but i think that he likes to sabotage things by using elaborate plans (ie. bombing a drug warehouse or exposing a criminal leader's identity to the public) hes kind of like oracle? but not

I can absolutely see him being focused on the bigger things and looking up to Oracle!! And Delphi??? That would be such a cool concept, it's like Oracle got herself a big fan and I kind of love the idea of her sort of tutoring him in a way, like her maybe being one of the only people that knows he's Bernard cause like, c'mon she's a genius like everyone else but like Genius², like easily on par with Bruce and then some!

The idea that Bernard takes on like, a big cyber-crime plot type of thing as his own personal coming-into-his-own story would be so cool, and now it's all I can think about! (Also imagine over time Robin!Tim getting all these little tips from an anonymous source simply marked "-Delphi <3" because Bernard eventually figured out Tim's identity even if Tim hadn't figured his out yet. It's so cute, and the potential-)

He did a little fighting alongside Tim yeah, but I don't remember how that turned out for him cause it's been a while since I last read it, but he could definitely hold his own I would think! He just prefers to work behind the scenes, leaves less room for error if you aren't physically there yknow?

And I can definitely see the yellow and black color scheme working for him (we love that shirt, fashion disaster as it is he makes it work!!) Maybe over time he starts developing his own tech, and like it's not nearly as good as any of the bats stuff but it's not something to snuff at either! He might not have incredible shock-absorbing gel between the layers of his costume or anything like Bruce, but by God this computer runs just as fast as anything in the batcave (AND its yellow, so take that Batman)

far from it to be my style to post about hashtag mental health issues on main but like. look. ive& been psychotic as far back as i can tangibly remember (hallucinating at 10-11, cognitive symptoms and episodes by 13-14). its been a part of my life so long that like... in a lot of ways im used to it and coping with symptoms and my life grew around a lot of the symptoms. like a tree trunk growing around a foreign object as a sapling. something that pierces directly through the middle but doesnt really impact the trees ability to stay alive in any meaningful way.

so like in a lot of ways im used to being in my own head. my partner is good at recognizing that things that are distressing to me in episodes dont process whatsoever as distressing to me a good chunk of the time. when im acting visibly distressed it actually means my level of distress is at like, 200%. its fucking unmanageable. if im visibly distressed its worse than anyone could conceptualize because typically otherwise im just numb to a lot of it or its just default my reality that its not distressing in any meaningful way until after the fact.

but like im ngl just because ive spent all of my teenage years upwards trying to take up literally the least space possible to exist and never show 80% of my "unacceptable" symptoms to 99% of people does not mean it makes it any less uncomfortable or awkward to like. be the token psychotic in some groups. to have to be the buzzkill and shit thats like hey sorry heres my hyperspecific request of the year because im fucking insane.

its miserable in a fresh new way of like sorry to have to remind everyone that its not actually a funny character quirk or joke my brain literally does not exist in your 'reality' in any meaningful way and the further outside of it i am on a given day the more unpleasant youre going to find me to be around. ignoring the insane person talking aimlessly in public doesnt actually help me it usually just reinforces that youre not real and never will be if its a bad enough day.

its never intentional. like nobody is ever doing this on purpose. especially again because i spent so much of my life being very good at hiding it. but like... it sucks so much to be masking half the time and be a little too good at it so when you stop being able to people are always levels of uncomfortable or upset. it sucks when you cant articulate anything properly and nobody really knows how to understand what youre asking for. it sucks when you have multiple severe memory conditions and cant trust your own memory and everyone immediately questions your memory when you ask for anything or point anything out. like of course im just going to fucking fold.

i dont know where im going with this or if this itself is even that coherent i know it sounds super vague but it really isnt about anyone specific im just babbling about like years worth of garbage. i got so fucked over by fakeclaiming culture because unfortunately when i started really displaying symptoms i was a teenager trying not to kill himself and being fucking insane loudly in virtual public when that was apparently an "obvious sign of exaggerating" so i had to learn to shut the fuck up and now everybody loves to forget how much im fucking unwell because god forbid you think too hard about what youre saying around others.

thank god for my partner who is literally the first person in my entire life whos ever tried to understand and genuinely knows how to talk to me when im in a particularly bad delusion or hallucinating or whatever.

man. im tired. i found out this last month i probably need to get a cane when i move out and i still feel like im going to be appropriating shit because severe knee and upper leg paint and severe balance problems cant be that bad. i hate having memory problems so bad that i so easily can be told that i dont know shit and Y is actually what happened and i usually cant actually argue against it even if im so sure thats not true.

i just dont have the best social skills at times and english is not my native language (+ internet language is a whole different thing) so i worry sometimes that i said something that came off as insincere, but asking if you got an ask also seems kinda pushy ? i dont know how it looks like when creators get asks, basically just need the assurance that things just get lost sometimes and i didnt accidentally insult your entire family by translating things wrong
