The bit of AI no one talks about: No one needs to play physical Football ever again.

We talk a lot about the "democratisation of Art" (read, "i want art but i can't be arsed to go through the creative process"), but, to my knowledge, no one has talked about the "democratisation" of sports.

Understand, I mean the American sport called "football". The one where people cheer you on for dealing the hardest body-blows you are physically capable of delivering, the one where every player suffers from some kind of chronic physical pain because of the time they spent playing the game, the one where people have straight up become paralysed or collapsed and almost died on live television while their coaches scream at them to get up.

We don't need to put another person through this hell ever, ever again. Why? Because of the amazing strides in computer graphics and AI human synthesis that have been made over the past 20 years. We've been able to accurately simulate the physics of American football in videogames since at least 2002, and now, with games like EA Sports FC24, consumer-grade computers are able to simulate the players with such complete realism that it becomes difficult to tell a photograph of a football match from a development screenshot. Yes, that's a different kind of football, but the principle is the same.

Now, with the advent of "AI" imitation machines, it is possible to tell a computer every statistic it needs to know about a particular player's performance to generate a realistic American football game. It can be as brutal as its programmers want it to be; using the full battery of banned tactics. No one gets hurt because no one is there. Huge expensive football stadiums and sports complexes can be torn down, their funds re-allocated, and their properties developed into walkable cities, parks, and affordable housing.

People can still bet on the outcome of games, they can still riot when their team loses (or wins), they can still shout at their TV screens and pretend to argue ref calls, the corporate feudal state can still make millions of dollars on advertising during games, but no young man ever needs to put himself in danger of permanent disability before the age of 25 ever again. The NCAA and NFL will be completely automated from an undisclosed location locked up tighter than the highest-security US government installation.

haikyuu uses a lot of animal imagery to give us information about the characters and their personalities/traits in a visual way. the karasuno kids are often compared to crows, especially in their fighting style; similarly, the nekoma kids are compared to cats and their character designs often make use of cat eyes or other cat features. kenma specifically is modeled after a calico cat with his half-bleached hair, and in fact when we first meet him he is shown with a calico cat and the cat is used almost as a kind of foreshadowing. the interesting thing about calico cats is they are almost all female, because in order to get the calico pattern they need two X chromosomes. klinefelter males (XXY) can be calico but they are extremely rare. therefore i believe furudate intended us to understand that kenma himself has two X chromosomes, making him canonically trans. in this essay i will -
