10/14: went for a 30 minute/ 2.5 mile run and felt pretty okay about it. I was listening to James Acaster and Brett Goldstein talk about movies.
10/16: today! Went on a tiny lunchtime run just to do it. 20 minutes, that's all. Listened to Karri Godliman and Brett Goldstein talk about movies.
Is Films to Be Buried With my new favorite podcast? For the moment!

complaining is a great motivator. went and ran for 25 minutes listening to Talking Heads
when it's this absurdly nice out, though, I would rather be sitting on a patio with a drink than running
but that's also my bad for not quite being on the ball enough to join one of the many brewery run clubs near me, in which case I could have both
It's sixty degrees fahrenheit, sunny, north of the river is full of quiet neighborhoods, and I have no obligations for at least three hours. who could possibly run under these conditions

oops I did it again! I went for a stupid little run!
It was fine. The stats are boring. I listened to an episode of The War on Cars, which is both a good podcast and amuses me to listen to when I'm out on foot around cars. Afterward my watch told me my training status was "unproductive" which I am ignoring.
Looking at my schedule and the weather, not sure when I'll run next.
There's a 5K on December 3rd. My schedule is buck wild the next two months, but maybe I'll sign up anyway.

There were at least two days last week I intended to run then didn't, either because of the weather or feeling overwhelmed about other things I needed to get done.
But I ran this morning! Not long, 26 minutes with lots of walking (by my standards), and listened to most of a podcast.
Need a sign on my wall to remind myself that everything in my life is better when I go for little runs now and then.

i did it
I have not completely failed to run all year, but I certainly haven't run with any sort of consistency. (I have done yoga a few times a week, and I learned to ride a bike this year so I've been doing that now and then.) But my schedule changed this year and I blame that.
It would probably help if I had signed up for any 5Ks. I couldn't do the one some friends are doing next week because I had plans I couldn't move.
I'm not sure this is a great time to try to start a routine again, but my back hurts and in the past it has stopped hurting when I properly exercise, so I'm going for a run this morning even though it's threatening to drizzle and I had planned to wash my hair and see people early. People will wait.
One problem is the Nike Run Club app was still randomly cutting the guided run audio off the last time I used it.
This is a lot of words to psych myself up to put shoes on.

Unsurprisingly, I already forgot to log a run. Wednesday's run, which was supposed to be Tuesday's run, was 10 minute warm-up, 2 rounds of a cadence drill, 10 minute cool down. I can dig it, especially since I had no problem running for the whole warm-up.
Tumblr media
And today's run, which was supposed to be Thursday's run (lol) was the same drill and was very enjoyable. It snowed yesterday but this afternoon it was 45 and partly sunny. 😎
Tumblr media
Supposed to run tomorrow, but looking at my obligations I think I'll continue not quite catching up... Not a great precedent to set, haha

Wiping the slate of December, since I forgot to post about anything I ran, if I in fact ran at all. (Not much tbh.)
Decided to go for a Garmin coach plan, and after a tiny benchmark run a few days ago, really started today:
Tumblr media
I went with Coach Galloway because sure why not.
A ten minute warm-up jog, half a mile of run/walk (90/30 seconds), then a ten minute cooldown jog:
Tumblr media
The goal is to run a whole 5k at a decent pace, so we'll see how that goes — and if I stick with the plan as winter settles in... ❄️

Needed to get back to running after vacation, travel, and coming back to work and rain. Was going to do 20 minutes and cut it a bit short because it started raining and I can only do 40 and raining for so long.

The second 5k is accomplished! And I actually ran this one alone, so it's more in line with my regular runs. It was rolling hills, 40, overcast, and I was tired. So: great! 🙃
Tumblr media
This one gave me an actual medal, though, so that's fun!

I found time for another run! A miracle!
Tumblr media
Also a miracle: I almost didn't go out, almost did yoga instead, and then went out and ran 20 minutes straight without walking. Which I have never done before on my own. Whee!
Listening: NRC guided run about something (it still cuts out intermittently) and the chill running playlist.

Got a run in! The rain held off and the sun came out a little bit, even.

I tried a new-to-me speed run and it went pretty well. It was a progressive tempo run, I guess? I did pause to walk for 30 seconds once or twice in the second half but overall I was surprised to just keep going and increase my effort. Hmm maybe there's something to all this training and pacing.
Listened to the guided run and a "chill running" playlist Spotify made for me. I kind of dig the playlist.

Did a tempo run or something on Friday and forgot to post!

Went into town for a very chill (and chilly) 5K with a friend and her 8-year-old this morning!

Now I have to figure out when I can run this week so Saturday's run doesn't confuse my legs.

Saturday running. Thought I'd go long, and this is up among my longest runs. And I broke my 5k record according to my Garmin!
Tumblr media
Ended up thinking a lot about endurance, which for most of the run got me to delay walk breaks a bit longer. I could feel the endurance in my legs, haha.
Listened to a guided run (4 mile head starts) and an algorithmically generated playlist, and it was nice enough out to wear short sleeves (though I was wishing for gloves during the first half).

Out for a morning run.

Listened to a podcast about walkable, bikeable cities.
Surprise badge!

Also surprise hawk spotted at the end of my run, which was a joy.
