She will be missed. Sadly, I have to agree with her that the Magic community here isn't what it used to be. Honestly, that's how the whole website is. It's dying and it's so sad to watch. This is the website that I made some great friends on years ago, discovered my sexuality on, and discovered how big the world really is. I'm going to miss this judge. And for Tumblr, it's still here, but I still mourn for its loss. The soul of Tumblr is gone and this is just a shadow of its former self. You can tell me that it's just a website. But it used to be so much more than that. It was a safe haven for me, a magical gateway to countless communities. I've returned years later and that no longer seems the case.

You can tell me it's just a website. But what it was... it was everything to me.

The End of the Show

Hey all,

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Sorry that I haven’t been around much and let things just kind of drop here. That was never my intention and I’m sorry if any of you feel like you’ve been let down by my absence. That said, I’ve been doing this for a long time. I started this blog at the end of 2012, and eight years is a long time to do anything.

In case you didn’t see where this is going yet, it’s time for this blog to come to an end. I know that I’ve made a difference to the community here, and I would have loved to keep it up, but things change and it was finally time to admit to myself that this chapter of my life was over. (Also, let’s be fair, the Magic community here isn’t what it once was anyway.)

I’ll still be around and still be a part of the magic community. You can keep following me over on twitter (@JqlGirl) and I can still answer a question or two for you there from time to time. As for your more regular questions, Cranial Insertion (which I also stopped writing for last year) is still going strong and publishing weekly Q&As. Additionally, there are plenty of other resources out there for you to use. I’ll try to put together a list of the ones I recommend soon.

As for what’s next for me, I can’t say anything other than to watch my twitter next week for an announcement of a new project. Beyond that, I’ll just keep on keeping on with my work on the Commander Advisory Group and hope that eventually I’ll be able to judge an in-person tournament again some day.

All these young kids are never gonna know the feeling of booting up the original minecraft, of being so proud of your first house, of not being able to swim fast, of watching the OG MCYTs, hearing all the song parodies, and everything else. They won’t get to know how special that was, but it’s still so cool to see SMP’s and new MCYT bringing kids to this game that was and is so special to ppl my age. It’s nice to see a resurgence.
