I have this headcanon where after several years of knowing each other, Lee would show gestures of tenderness towards Gaara while being careful to respect his boundaries. He would be very casual about that to make him comfortable, but sometimes he would look right in the eyes to convey all of his affection.

And then at some point, Gaara would reciprocate by putting his hand on Lee’s lower back while walking and other little displays of fondness that are actually big steps for him.

I am very vanilla but I LIKE SMALL GESTURES OF TRUST AND TENDERNESS so yeah I had to draw that
