Boston's famous for its donuts. After all, the franchise chain Dunkin' Donuts was founded nearby, in Quincy, in 1950. At the beginning of April I was in Boston for my work. A good opportunity to try the local donut specialties. During my little research I couldn't help but try the delicious, gigantic donuts of @unionsquaredonuts . A wonderful yeast dough, fluffy, a bit greasy and very aromatic. The Signature Donut, Maple Bacon, with huge pieces of bacon, was a dream. The equally enormous Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch was just as delicious – fragrant crunchy hazelnuts in a mild buttery caramel. A bite of a donut. My love for pastries is infinite. Sometimes, I just travel for donuts. There was a day, where I went 30 minutes by Taxi in Kazakhstan, just to try the one and only donuts in town. Holding the whole world in my hands: A plate of #vitellotonnato with huge capers.🐄🐟🇮🇹 The veal was slow-cooked, tender and juicy - covered by that classical vitello sauce, containing anchovies, tuna, capers and a lot of mayonnaise. Even in Munich, I find little reminders to beautiful travel memories, like the @bamihouse1976 . The restaurant's ambience has a remblance to street food stalls in Vietnam. As it is all about the food: their Bánh mì and Phó is delicious! Bánh mì is a crispy, fresh baguette, spread with liver paté, Vietnamese sausage (similar to Bavarian Leberkäse), fresh coriander, hot chili sauce. A really heavenly pleasure. The crispy bread that has absorbed the juices of the vegetables and the paté makes a perfect match: Fresh aromas meet hearty fleshy ones. Absolutely comfy food to me! The second is probably the most famous Vietnamese soup. It consists of a broth in which bones, beef shoulder, cinnamon, black cardamom and star anise are cooked. Coffee, Paper Cups, Sustainability? Coffee per se is not a sustainable product. We ship millions of tons around the globe and raise our fingers for paper cups? Of course, they are shitty, sometimes there's just no other way to consume it (e.g., traveling). The question arises, how extreme am I and do I address 100 % perfection to myself and my fellow human beings, when it comes to sustainability? Or is it generally about mindfulness and attentive consumption? Am I a machine to be optimized or a living human being that tries to meet self-imposed standards as best as I can, without being a dogmatic hypocrite? I think there are worse things than the paper cups that the media like to thematize so passionately? Of course, I should not enjoy that coffee to go every single morning... However, sometimes there is no other way. Shit, but well, I try to do it better next time. For myself, I rarely drink coffee outside my home or my office.
