His Past Her Present
- Chapter 6 Preview -
Tumblr media
The firmly smushed heels of Sarada’s sports sneakers dug into her feet as she fled from Boruto’s house. She didn’t stop to fix them until everything from the gate to the roof was out of sight… And then she jogged the rest of the way home.
“Ah, Sarada. Welcome back. Did you have karate practice tod—“
“Hi mom I’m home I’m going to my room to lie down bye.”
It all flew out of her mouth in one rapid sentence. Sarada kicked off her shoes, raced up the stairs, and shoved her face straight into her pillow.
What. Was. That?!?!
When she could no longer breathe, she heaved herself onto her back, heart still racing, arms flopping out at her sides. She smacked herself in the head and wiped her mouth over and over and over again, but the moment she stopped, all she could think about was the very feeling she was trying to rid herself of and how good it felt.
She hated baby drool and slobber, and the thought of eating or drinking after someone else made her gag. But the subtle slimyness of kissing someone didn’t feel disgusting… That moment of pulling back slowly, her eyes rising open like the curtain in a stage play, breathing through her mouth as she hovered over top of him, his hand in her short black hair, her heart pounding over his…
Heat was already pulsing through her insides just thinking about it, tension pooling in her stomach.
She shoved the pillow over her face and make absolutely sure she couldn’t breathe. She needed to suffocate until she died. The worst part of all of this was… Boruto didn’t kiss her.
She kissed him.
Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid!! Why did I do that?!
Sarada knew the answer, but it wasn’t one she liked, and from now on, it wasn’t one that she was certain she could avoid.
To make matters worse, Boruto didn’t like her. He must’ve liked whoever she was in her own dumb stupid ninja dream. Which wasn’t even possible!
Calm down. She took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Let’s just sort this out… think about this logically. Asses the situation and figure out the best course of action. Think. Think. Think…

His Past Her Present
- Chapter 5 preview -
Tumblr media
“Boruto?”
“Don’t talk,” he muttered, taking her hand. Trailing his fingers against hers. “Just let me hold you…”
“…Boruto?” She called his name again, concern evident on her face.
Boruto sat up. Reached out… His eyes closed again. He leaned forward and kissed her a second time, this time more tenderly. Like he’d always wanted to. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back in bed, gladly accepting the added weight onto his chest.
She was hesitant at first, but eventually accepted his kiss, relaxing against him, slowly kissing him back. They were going to have a kid. He was going to have a kid… With Sarada.
He let go of her lips with great reluctance, but there was something he needed to say before he drowned his sorrows in affection his apparent wife. Her eyes were beautiful, sparking with a softened expression he’d been longing to see, one that he thought he couldn’t have because to see it there needed to be peace, and as long as he was alive, peace wasn’t achievable.
But now he was here instead of that accursed nightmare he thought was his life. It didn’t matter how he got here. He just had to stay.
Boruto trailed his hand from the back of her head to the front, brushing her bangs behind her ear with a touch so gentle his fingers didn’t even make it to her skin. “You have no idea… How much I missed you.”
“…Boruto!”
. . .
Boruto sucked in a breath, eyes snapping open. Even though they were supposed to be open already. He was no longer looking at a hazy grown-up version of Sarada, Uchiha earrings dangling from her ears. He was looking at Sarada in a blazer, a bow tied neatly under the collar of her white button down shirt. And she was on top of him. And his hand was in her hair.
“A-A-Are you awake now?!”
He groaned and rolled onto his side, pulling the covers over his head. “How dare you interrupt my dream.”
“How dare I interrupt your dream?! How dare you dream about kissing me??!! You… Moron! Pervert! Idiot! Stupid! You just… You just stole my precious first kiss!”

Borusara Week 2024
Tumblr media
Sarada’s Day | Hokage | Rebel
It's the last day! And finally time for a one shot I'm decently proud of x) Post Time-skip in cannon, fluffy, and a little hint of angst.
It had been three weeks since he left on that stupid “atonement mission,” and three weeks since Sarada felt fully focused at work. It was the last day of March, her birthday, and she couldn’t even take time off to celebrate.
Documents towered to her shoulder in a stack least 200 pages high, waiting for a signature. A higher stack of at least 300 pages high waited for a stamp. Three important meetings needed to be arranged. There were 30 new documents to review. It all had to be done before the end of the day. She could get it all done without a problem if she could organize her schedule and just. Focus.
In hidden grass village, there is a food shortage and a report of bandits stealing frequently. Konoha's assistance is requested.
Stamp. Sign. To a pile on her left on the floor.
D rank mission completed by team 32. Lost ca...
Capybara? Rubbing her eyes still didn't produce clear results. And that was when she realized... It was because her eyes were wet with tears. Her head throbbed and pounded, her stomach cramped and ached... She had to do her work. She had to. But as tears dripped down her cheeks and onto her desk, all she could think was... She just wanted to see him.
Whenever he noticed a large stack of papers on her desk, he'd stand behind her chair and rub her shoulders. Whenever she was too overwhelmed to handle things and got snappy and stressed, he'd walk behind her desk until she caved. She'd curl into the small space at his feet, hide from all her unwanted visitors, lean her head in his lap while he played with her hair. Let him stamp things that needed to be stamped. Was that a fair thing to do as Hokage? No. But she trusted him to do it because he was Boruto. And because a mere five to ten minutes was all she needed to feel human again.
Where was he? When was he coming back?
Thinking about it every day made her heart do that stupid annoying thing where it raced too fast for far too long, spreading numbness all the way down to her fingertips. Her vision blurred. The pen fell from her hands as she held her head to get a grip.
She didn't want to think of Boruto as the type of person to avoid her out of embarrassment, but the possibility did cross her mind and linger there for longer than she would've liked for it to. She shouldn’t have hugged him goodbye. He shouldn’t have kissed her forehead.
She was Hokage, and that meant she didn’t have time for him in the way that they both wished they did. That’s why she didn’t advance their relationship any further. That’s why she always held back.
She took a deep breath in and took her eyes off of the door, gritting her stomach to bear with the pain, trying to fix her migraine with medical ninjutsu. Come on Sarada. Focus. Focus... Focus!
After grabbing a clear file off of the top of the stack, her computer screen went black. And just before she could move the mouse, she caught a glimpse of her reflection. Her hair was disheveled, her eyes sunken in, glasses slightly crooked on her face. Perhaps that was what Shikadai hesitated to say. She looked like a hot mess, minus the hot.
The oversized hokage hat could fix that. Her hair, her eyes, all of it. She could just hide. And then, on top of concealing her appearance, she wouldn't have to worry about what reaction her idiotic hormone ridden brain would have to seeing him if he did happen to show up.
Just as she set her hat on her head, she noticed.
There was a clear glass vase of red roses on her desk that hadn't been there seconds before, and there were only two people that could flicker in and out of her office without her noticing. Neither of them were there, not on the ceiling, not under her desk, not behind any of the stacks of paper or even just outside the window. The fresh floral scent chose that particular moment to enter her nose... And the throbbing in her head grew worse with the pounding of her heart.
Calm down. It's your birthday. Maybe he just came back to give you flowers for your birthday...
And then. There was a box of chocolates sitting on top of the clear file she'd placed there moments ago. How was he doing this completely soundlessly?! This was not fair.
The crocodile tears stinging her eyes were also not fair.
Sarada picked up the box and inspected it hoping to find some sort of note, only to notice... There was a silver ring on the fourth finger of her left hand?! She abruptly dropped the box and fanned out her fingers, staring, touching it to make sure it was real. It was very real. And cold, and round, and smooth, and imbedded with tiny diamonds that ran in a spiral around the metal.
"Yo."
Sarada's entire body was so tense that she banged her knees on her desk out of startlement. "Idiot! What is... What did... How is..."
He really owed her an explanation for this, but she wasn't sure whether to yell at him, pull him down by the loose collar of his white t-shirt and force him into a kiss whether he wanted one or not, feelings be darned, or sob harder because this was all some cruel prank.
She hid her face. She had to. She was really crying now, curse her stupid emotions. Fat tears dripped over her cheeks, the metal of the ring heating as she tensed her hands.
"Sorry it took me so long," he said sheepishly. "Himawari wouldn't let me go until I could do it all without making any noise..."
Sarada tried to stop her quivering by telling herself to relax, but the built-up stress in her body decided that now would be a good time to escape, and her muscle system blatantly refused to shut down.
"...You okay?"
"Of course I'm not okay!" Her swollen throat had a lump the size of the Land of Fire. Her voice sounded like a sad cross between an underwater donkey and an angry sheep. The trembling was doing nothing for her headache or her cramps, and every second she spent in this confusing situation was another second lost in completing her work. "...Idiot! Stupid! Dummy! What... What even is this?"

Day 6: Hand Holding | Burden | Alternate Universe
An unknown force moved Sarada’s hands against their will, lifting the golden necklace high into the air.
What is happening?!
"Love!" The voice left her lips, but she didn't intend for it to.
"Courage!" Boruto raised his fist in a similar fashion, the blue gem on his wrist glowing brightly in the dimly lit room.
"Hope!" Mitsuki's hand followed shortly after, the gleam of the ring on his fourth finger shining bright green. Perhaps he did understand the implications of a ring after all…
But suddenly. A cold rush overtook Sarada's body. Her legs floated into the air, skin glowing. She wanted to make everything stop, but her limbs remained locked in place, completely resistant to her protests.
With a bright flash of light, her long pink dress transformed into a short red miniskirt. Her limbs stretched, her waist narrowed, her short hair suddenly grew long, luscious, and billowed in wind from an unknown source. A thin blue silky scarf flapped around her neck... And then.
"Love." Cold metal hugged the crown of her head. "Courage." Golden shoulder pads and a chest piece fell into place. "Hope!" In her hands, a dull red light shone increasingly brighter until it transformed into a pink bow, a heart shaped arrow loaded and ready to fire.
With an air of confidence that wasn't hers, Sarada eyed the evil mirror, drawing back the bow’s string until it reached ear. "Magical, shoot!"
Tried and true, the arrow carved a path directly into the reflective glass until it was in shards on the floor. And with a smile that she was certain made Boruto's slack-jawed face dust with blush, a rush of heat transformed her back to her normal self.
And once again. She was completely mortified.

Day 5: Sunset | Smile | Protect
"Going to track down Sarada-sensei's boyfriend?"
"'S not her boyfriend," Boruto growled, hands shoved in his pockets as he ambled to the bus.
"Jealous, Boruto-sensei?" Iwabe chided, elbowing his arm.
"Of course! No one can have Sarada... Especially not him."
"Huh?" Inojin raised an eyebrow. "Sensei, you know this guy?"
"Yeah," he said, putting a smoke into his mouth and lighting it up. He took a moment to suck in the good old cloudy air and breathe it out again before replying. "He's my brother."

Day 4: Spring | Home | Promise
"Boruto..."
Boruto's fuzzy vision hazed into focus. He blinked once, twice, and looked up to a smile playing on her lips against the backdrop of dark branches and pale pink flower clusters. Her hand gently toyed with his hair, a soft sparkle set in her eyes.
Cherry blossom petals floated down around them like snow, blanketing the area in pale pink. A breeze rustled the trees, filling his lungs with fresh spring air.
His body felt like a cloud; no sword, no cape, no weight on his chest. Other than the weight of one of her hands, lovingly running her fingers over the black marking that characterized his attempted death over and over in a soothing motion as if she was appreciating the fact that he was still alive.
A gust of wind blew a wayward petal into her hair, stopping just near her temple, decorating her like an accessory. Boruto reached up, uncurling his lax fingers and brushed it to the side. Her smile softened as she closed her eyes and leaned into his hand.
Her skin felt like the cotton of the white T-shirt he used to wear. Touching it left a slight tingling sensation on his fingertips, even when his hand pulled fully away.
Boruto closed his eyes again and his brows furrowed. He didn't know how this was possible, he just knew that he missed her terribly. Seeing her here like this, playing with his hair, his head in her lap, all of it felt like heaven. "Sarada," he whispered, a tear leaking out of the edge of his eye.
"Mm?"
Her voice was soft, the way it sometimes was when they were alone together, when she wasn't mad at him. The way it got when she comforted him, the times when she was the only one that could comfort him, because she was the only one that understood all of the things he was going through.
He couldn't go back to her. He couldn't face her... And yet here she was.
His heart wrenched in his chest, and before he knew it... He was kissing her.
It was over as soon as it started, his heart pounding, blinking slowly. He should've remembered some sensation on his lips, but there was nothing. Just air and all of the overwhelming feelings that came with what he'd done. "I..."
"What is it?" she said gently.
Boruto bowed his head, more tears dripping off of his face and onto her lap. This was wrong. He knew it was somehow wrong, but... His face contorted as tightness crawled up his throat. "I missed you. So much…”

Day 3: Boruto's Day | Scar | Jacket
(Flash forward)
Her eyes drifted to his scar, the one he got protecting her. She traced it gently in the dark, blinking slow. "Hey, Boruto..."
"Hm?"
"This... Have you ever regretted..."
"Never," he whispered, kissing her forehead.
"You didn't let me finish," she pouted, curling her hand into his unbuttoned shirt.
"I didn't have to. I never regret anything I've done with or for you. And besides... You said it yourself, didn't you? Scars are proof that life is short, and you're glad you're alive."
She smiled. "Thank you for not dying on me."
He smiled against her lips. "If I died on you, I wouldn't have gotten to experience one of life's greatest pleasures."
She rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine, I get it. Kiss me already, idiot."

Day 2: Eyes | Teasing | Distance
"Boruto... You're here."
"It's rare of you to want to speak to me directly. What is it, Eida?"
She leaned onto the rail of the wooden deck, scanning the field surrounding the house she lived in with Kawaki and Daemon, Mitsuki and Sarada always on standby. A breeze blew her looped blue hair gently to the side, her turquoise eyes set on the horizon. "You have a bit of time now, don't you?"
"...I suppose you'd know better than I would."
"To you... What is love?"
Boruto’s hardened gaze trailed to the wooden deck under his boots. "Love, huh... I'm guessing you don't mean the family type?"

Free Day | Hug | Stupid Boruto
It was supposed to be nothing more than a normal Saturday. Sarada got dressed that morning in her usual clothes, spun a shuriken towards her target board without her glasses for extra practice, brushed her teeth and hair in the mirror and set to work on breakfast before her meetup with Boruto and Mitsuki in Kaminari Burger.
Just as the water in the electric kettle reached a boil, a strange flash of light behind her made her flinch. She spun around to see no one. Nothing. Had Boruto somehow snuck into her house to play a prank on her?
If he had, she wasn't going to fall for it. His only goal was attention anyways. If she just ignored him, he'd eventually get bored and come out of hiding and ask her what she was doing. Then all of a sudden, a warm hand slid onto her shoulder and almost made her burn herself. "Excuse me?!"
"Sorry..." The voice was so strikingly similar to hers... And there was only one person who could manage to imitate her this well in a henge.
She opened her mouth to scold Boruto when she realized something very important. Boruto would never apologize for a prank. Lifting her eyes to meet the owner of the hand, this time, she froze. It was, in fact, her. Or at least, it felt like looking at an older version of herself in the mirror. But her parents never had a child other than her, and this was clearly an Uchiha.
Short raven hair, metal framed glasses, heart shaped lips and pale skin. A jacket resembling Boruto's but much too large and hanging off one bare shoulder, Uchiha earrings, a black choker with a metal ring adorning the center, a tube top with short black shorts, flared socks and platform heels. Rather than wearing a Konoha headband, her ninja insignia was pinned to the front of her jacket. Sarada blinked. "Um... Hello?"
"I was trying not to scare you... Well... Me... I... Just..." That was when her future self, or whoever this was, looked towards the ceiling to prevent tears from leaking out of her eyes…

Bridging the Gap
- Chapter 6 out now! -
Naruto walked inside and was immediately assaulted by his oldest. "Daddy!"
"Oh, Boruto!" He patted him on the head, too tired to pick him up. "I'm home!" His tired eyes focused on dinner missed the look of disappointment on his son's face. "Smells delicious... Ah! It's this late already? Sorry for making you wait!"
"Dear, your shoes."
"Oh, that's right. My bad." Even after all these years, he still sometimes forgot to take his shoes off at the door. Old habits die hard, as they say. Luckily, Hinata was around to correct them.
Boruto crossed his arms. "Jeez dad, you're gonna get dirt in the house!"
"You're one to talk little mister," said Naruto, recalling all the times Boruto tracked substances through the house that he or Hinata ended up having to clean. "Did you wash your hands?"
"I washed my hands a long time ago! Why'd you take so long to get here?"
"Hm? Oh. I have exciting news," he said, going over to the sink before sitting down at the table. "Kakashi says I don't have to study for the chunin exams anymore! I get to study directly under him... So I can take over as Hokage!"
Hinata's eyes widened. "That's... That's great news!"
"Hm? Hokage? You mean like old-man Kakashi?"
Naruto laughed. "Old man Kakashi, huh... What has Konohamaru been teaching you?"
"I'm learning a new jutsu!" Boruto said proudly, standing up on his chair.
Hinata gently put her arm on his. "Boruto, don't stand on your chair at the dinner table. Let's say thanks for our food before it gets cold."

His past, Her Present
- Chapter preview -
It wasn’t like she was concerned, or even mildly interested in that obsessive perverted idiot stalker. Well… Perhaps, now that she knew about how his dad helped her father onto the right path in the past, there was a single seed of curiosity. But there was no inkling of romance, as Cho-Cho had so gracefully insisted there was. Sarada just wanted to know...
Who was he confusing her for? What did she mean to him?
Suddenly, she was out of dishes to put away. As she hung the towel back on the stove and climbed the stairs to her bedroom, she decided.
Tomorrow, Sarada was going to clear up any understand Uzumaki Boruto had about her. Whether it was because of their father’s pasts or not, this… Whatever this sinking anguished feeling in her chest was could not go on.

His Past Her Present
- Chapter 3 Preview -
He didn’t realize how nice it was to be around someone who truly knew him for who he was until she hugged him. The hug that started everything. The hug that made him feel reluctant to die, even if he finished everything he had to do for the sake of the village. Because he wanted to keep living. For her.
He remembered her arms, wrapped around his waist, her face tucked into his shoulder, feeling at home, safe, secure and warm for the first time in three years.
He missed her so much.
Over time, his feelings built up into this intense burning desire to be around her whenever possible. And every time he left, he found himself going back to her first.
She was the only one. The only one who remembered all of the silly things he’d done as a kid, all of the pranks, the missions, the only one that scolded him in a way he wished his parents would. And when he saw her acting like normal Sarada around him, teasing him, getting angry at him, he finally felt like Boruto again.
But now, she’d forgotten all of it. Even if she decided to see him as more than a stranger, it would never be the same.
He stared at her for the entire class period. All through the day until lunch time. She was clearly weirded out, but he couldn’t stop.
His chest felt like it was being ripped open and someone was scooping out the insides. Or rather, he wished someone would scoop out the insides.
If he’d died in Konoha and ended up… Wherever this was… He’d truly never see his Sarada again.
- New chapter will be up around midnight! EST -

Info to use in fanfics
Tumblr media
Kawaki’s birthday is 5/13. Kawaki obviously likes taiyaki. Extra text talks about his eye and his karma and how he can use shinjutsu and that he swapped lives with Boruto. Naruto and Hinata are trapped in his timeless “space.”
Sarada likes black tea flavored things (e.g. black tea scones, black tea cookies, black tea macarons… these are some of the things I’ve personally eaten). “For some reason” she is immune to omnipotence and retained her memories. Due to Sarada’s opposition to the village’s decision to execute Boruto, she is still a genin. Other stuff is just talking about her chidori and the fact that she’s Sasuke’s only kid.
Mitsuki was Boruto’s former best friend :( and now he’s risking his life to save Kawaki.
Himawari is confirmed to be training under InoShikaCho to be a ninja
Sumire kept her memories like Sarada and works for the scientific ninja tools ppl. Her tag says she’s a sharp minded scientist
Shikamaru opposes it but he’s under the process of becoming the 8th Hokage.
And that’s the jest of it :D
