Friday thoughts
Tumblr media
The deepest sadness is the thought that the memories we hold so dearly, just simply fade into oblivion. Like the hot embers of a raging fire. Their heat last for seconds, then they lose all manner of influence or importance. I remember, but the heat is fading.
Everything that we gave so much importance and prominence to in our lives, dissipate into the air like our final breath.
The depth and meaning of it all, only matters to us. The memories are only treasures, if treasured by us, for now, while we can.

Dream.
My dream is that in the end, you will be okay. Before I leave this earth, I want my final view to be of you. In the end, I want the last memories to be of us, when we laughed, when we played, when we went on our adventures, when we smiled. I want to think of the times we spent on your bed, coming up with amazing stories, the times we rode on the motorcycle and felt the wind and road underneath us. With my last breath I want to say I love you always. And I know that my last earthly physical sensation will be your hands holding mine, your lips on my cheek, and the final hot breath in my ear when you say.....
"I love you, don't worry, I'm gonna be okay."

THE ONE: II (hear me out)
Tumblr media
I have had this idea rattle around my brain for YEARS and it needs to be shared. Remember the movie: The One - starring Jet Li... and I honestly don't know who else.
If you haven't seen this... disaster/masterpiece, here's the jist: There is a multiverse of 125 different realities, meaning there are 124 versions of ourselves. When a version of ourselves dies, our life force the connects us all becomes stronger. The less versions of ourselves there are, the stronger we are. So there's Gabriel, who works for the authority branch that oversees the multiverse. He figures out this truth about the life forces and goes on a mission to kill all versions of himself. While he is doing that, he is getting stronger, as well as the remaining versions of himself in different realities. After the 123 kill, Gabriel is caught but the multiverse authorities, but escapes. More importantly, there only 2 versions left: Gabriel (bad) and Gabe (good).
Then blah blah blah...they fight and Gabriel is put into prison. It's a heck of a movie. I love it.
Here's where I would like to pick up. Gabe is stronger and faster than any of his counterparts, due to the fact that there's only one other version. Now imagine with me, what if Gabe has a son. This son would be the only version in the multiverse of himself. So this son grows up and he already shows many aspects where he is way ahead of the growth curve. The multiverse authorities see this, and they begin to train him to be a good guy.....EXCEPT..... he gets drunk with power. He is basically unstoppable. He goes on a rampage to rule the multiverse with an iron fist. Gabe is the only person in the multiverse that can fight him, except, his son is too strong. Gabe is defeated and he knows what he has to do. In order to save the multiverse, Gabe must go and break out Gabriel from the prison universe, and convince him to help him fight his/their son. You can fill in the details, but Gabriel is tricked into the glory of defeating the greatest warrior ever and he agrees to go along, with his own agenda of course. The whole story boils down to the final battle when Gabe and Gabriel are no match for the son. Gabriel sees that there's only one way to win this fight, and if they were going to win, he would have to lose. So Gabriel sacrifices himself (Gabe tries to stop him, but can't). So the final battle is Gabe (ultimate version) and the son (ultimate version).
Anyway. I think it would be a fantastic movie! But then again, I have HORRIBLE taste in movies.

Who is Romeo Santos?
Romeo Santos is a name my daughter and I invented. I told her, that if I ever disappeared, she should look for me under that name. I imagine I'll be on a beach in Cuba, under a straw hat, watching the sun go down. Or maybe in Peru, in some mountain village, fixing up an old shack. I realized that the necessity of having to run and change my identity, would just be an opportunity to do the things I really wanted.
What a thought. Do. Things. I. Want.
Whoever lives like that, good for you. Go on. Live for the rest of us who imprison ourselves.

Isaiah 53 is one of the great Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament, written some 700 years before Jesus Christ. It is known to be the chapter about the "Suffering Servant". Isaiah prophesied, as we know today, that pain and suffering is intertwined with the person of Jesus Christ. It was foreordained before the foundations of the world that the Christ would suffer for us. And here we are in 2024, reflecting on the suffering of Christ still. We must allow ourselves to meditate on these dark details of the last moments of Jesus, we can't separate the cross from the Christ, the pain from the Promise, and the suffering from the Son of Man.
Yes, we know that there is hope. We know that the dawn 3 days later will break the darkness that condemned the world and that though weeping may endure for a night, joy cometh in the morning! But there is something in here right now for us to learn. Maybe, you need to be reminded of the great lengths that Jesus endured for you. Maybe, you've never met this Jesus, who suffered and died for you. Maybe we need to see the suffering to help us understand our own brokenness.
Whatever it may be, don't let this Easter pass by without giving a thought to what Jesus Christ did, because of his love for you.

Into the Ether
How many thoughts, confessions, pleas for help end up on this little text window and get submitted into the ether, without anybody seeing them or acknowledging their existence?
Desperate cries into the night, go unheard.
Moments of desperation materializing in this virtual space.
They go unseen, unheard. And with time, they won't even exist anymore.

Christmas
Christmas came and went.....
and we didn't sit and listen to our old records.
We didn't take a walk while the snow fell.
We didn't take time in the quietness of a late night, talking, sharing, laughing.
Christmas came and went.

Ol' Friend, Time
How strange time becomes the more you pass through it. I remember endless summers. Undying nights of adventure. Timeless, painful moments in waiting. Car rides that seem to last an entire age.
You blink and all of a sudden you find yourself in a different time, a different world, in a different body, in a different state of mind. Those memories are trapped between an odd stasis of faded memories and vivid experiences- at times.
Now, we waste time over work, and mundane chores. Time passes while we grasp to as much rest and sleep as we can. What happened to us?
When time meant nothing, we seemed to have had it in abundance. And now, when time is everything, it's our most precious, yet rarest commodity.
Slow down, Ol' friend. Let's reacquaint ourselves when we had you.
