Astrea is a witch that has no powers. She was kidnapped and brought to a prison of evil experimented on, tortured both mentally and physically, and abused. Obviously, we know she is strong from the start, I loved to see her grow and develop into this powerful woman who would destroy the world for her people.

Ciaran, this smoking hot part vampire part witch blonde viking arse kicking god is the MMC. Ypu knows he is a badass from the first time we meet him. The more you read, the more you love him. He is a good person and does what he can to help, which just makes you "awwwwe"

Shadow is as dark as his name, and hides alot of himself as he feels undeserving, it is not his fault he was in the prison of evil too, but you know their is someone special hiding in his shadows.

We meet Ava and Holy hell yes, I want you, the world needs you, you adorable yet terrifying beautiful pixie and the snippets we get from her, just has you begging for more.

Drago, he rolls up his shirt sleeves at one point and that's me gone, only the smoking hot powerful men do that and I am here for that. The sleeve roll is "show me you are powerful, withoit showing me you're powerful" YES.

Also if you can pick a favourite character out of the 5 of them let me know because I keep going back and forth.

I can't wait to see shadow, Ava and Dragon in the next book as it is already on amazon to pre-order, woo hoo.

Sundial by Catriona Ward and it got me at the first page. It's about family, but the main focus is between a mother and her daughter. It is beautifully written, can't go into depth without ruining it for everyone else.

It is a thriller/horror, like Wards other book "the last house on needless street", if you enjoyed that book, you will enjoy this one.

So while it is a who dunnit. There is so much more, they odd relationship between Alec and Cooper, they just meet but they have this connection, he is drawn to her and her to him. You see this dying town become more fractured, suspicion, accusations killing off people and businesses in an already struggling area. Secrets revealed, failings admitted.

If you love a good crime story, you should give it a shot.

The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward.

This book is scary, sad, well written, it is a horror book but not Leather face chasing you with a chainsaw kind of Horror. The book is about a murderer, revenge, a stolen child. The book is told from a 4 P.O.V. Ted lives with his daughter Lauren and his cat Olivia. The next door neighbour Dee. The Last house of Needless Street, is right next to the deep dark woods.

It is hard to talk about without giving too much away plot wise. I was itching to finish it, to have theory confirmed, find out the bits I have missed. It is definitely worth a read. This book breaks your heart, while making you say "no, no, no please no".

Near the Bone by Christina Henry.

Mattie is a young woman who lives off grid in the middle of nowhere with William, Mattie has to walk on eggshells, do what she is told and try her best not to upset William, or she suffers.

One day Mattie is out checking rabbit snares and finds the mutilated body of a fox, with 2 giant footprints next to it, she tells William and they go back to see if they can work out what animal it is.

While out looking fir the animal, they come across a young man, also out looking for something. This meeting changes Matties world, when he comes back with 2 friends, there is no going back.

Mattie is strong and fierce, mentally and physically. She knows how to survive against monsters.

Definitely a good read, you will fly through it.
