I made a thing! I was thinking about this for a few days - because I realized that when I was young, I was also frustrated about being given the same advice over and over - without really knowing what it meant!!

Here’s 5 techniques which I have done before which have helped me grow as an artist, which are good for 5-minute warmups or just straight up challenges for your sketchbook! 

Obviously, these are not the ONLY techniques - they’re just the ones I find most fun! And maybe they’re not the most ‘correct’ ones out there, but it’s better than another comic about practicing more, right?

So... beyond fact checking yourself before you try to get salty at somebody on the internet - just why?

It’s not a copyrighted thing for starters, and so what if multiple blogs want to use the same platform? Is that not basically the whole purpose of this site? To express our creativities in our own unique ways?

And yes, I get that there are distinct exceptions to this rule when it comes to direct and obvious plagiarism, but a concept like soft/sin hours isn’t the thing to be crying wolf about.

Let both of these creators use the concept! Be happy that you may get twice as much content from folks who are still willing to spend time out of their life writing for people like you.

But now there was a wolf in front of him, just sitting there on the path, blocking Bucky’s way.

Not just any wolf either, but the biggest wolf Bucky had ever seen, nearly chest-high and easily two-hundred-and-fifty pounds. With blazing yellow eyes, and a thick and lush golden pelt. Staring at him.

Bucky never encountered this wolf before, but even if he couldn’t see his aura, the pearlescent shimmer of it, he would have known who it was. It was the Alpha, in his true form, Steve’s wolf, or more accurately Bucky’s now, introducing himself to his mate.

This was the first scene I started working on from Watermelon Werewolf, but after not having access to the ipad it was kept on and then almost completely losing the file, I finally managed to pull this together. I have different art planned so this won’t be the last of it by a long shot, but I think this will be the last in this style. It’s been fun, however it’s just not for me 😂

There was a wolf in front of him.

Standing there in the middle of the path Bucky was jogging, as if waiting for him. Bucky had spent plenty of time with werewolves, in both their forms, socially and professionally, and especially now since moving to Lehigh, yet still he could see there was something different about this wolf.

It was smaller than most, slender and lean, with sleek russet fur, but Bucky could see the sharpness and cunning in their gaze, unusual even for a wolf, as it sat there in a perfect stillness, watching him.

I gotta admit, y’all - realism/semi-realism is just.... not always my thing. But it’s still fun to practice and push through all the art block I’ve been plugged up behind for a long time. I keep wanting to tell myself ‘It could be better’, but I’m still extremely proud of this. ❤️

I’m aiming to do each wolf in @bluesimplicity73’s Watermelon Werewolf series, and while I had originally planned to start with Steve, Natasha decided it was her turn instead. 😂 So here she is! And some extras below -

This is more my preferred style, and it gave me a better look at how I imagined some of her markings. I did get kind of lazy though towards the end with shading, so a bit of it is just: “Ehh... looks good enough!”

And for those of you who are caught up, you’ll get this reference. 😏

So yeah, I stayed up all night when I probably shouldn’t have and now my butt is going to bed. Night night!!

GOD, was that a character with potential
