i think the thing that makes me the most emotional in life is the realization that everything i have and everything i see has been touched by other people. someone designed the logo of my favorite tea bags and someone decided which paintings should go in the calendar hanging on my wall. someone built the roof above my head and someone paved the street outside my house. someone made this pair of glasses specific for me, someone picked the pear i ate with my lunch and someone designed my favorite sweater. every book i read, every song i listen to, every film i watch, tens, if not hundreds of people had to be there to make it happen. even if i am alone, i am always surrounded by other human beings - a fact that makes my heart squeeze in on itself everytime i remember it.

Today I’m allowing myself to take things slow. I’ve been feeling really stressed and anxious lately and I really wanna make a step towards actively working on my mental health. Also the fact that it’s been raining for three days straight doesn’t really help.

Beginners who are learning Japanese!!!

Hello kind people of the langblr community, I’m looking for a study buddy for Japanese. I’ve taken an introduction course a while ago and now decided to self study bc it seems like I won’t be able to take any classes in the near future bc of corona. I know hiragana/katakana and like basic introductory sentences and how to form affirmative/negative simple statements and questions.

I’d love to have somebody who’s also at the beginning like me (or hasn’t started yet, that’d be also fine) to keep motivation each other, exchanging questions and just generally chat about the grammar, vocab, progress etc. Also just to have someone to hold one accountable.

I use genki 1 to study and I’d be nice if you’d also use it (that’s not mandatory tho).

If this sounds like you’d be interested in it hit me up!

(If there are actually a couple more people interested in this I thought of maybe creating a discord or sth like that, would anybody be interested in that? Hmu!)

(I'm a German native and can speak English obv a little Spanish and Russian just in case someone’s curios or maybe also learning these languages🤷🏻‍♀️)

and I'm like

well actually I wouldn't be doing homework regardless, these things serve as a distraction but they don't distract me from doing my homework they distract me from the fact that I am not doing my homework

learning japanese is just: *forgets kanji reading* *doesn’t know if は or が* *tries and fails to read names* *misuses (in)transitive verbs* *changes to polite speech at the last second* *hates katakana words* *mistakes hanzi for kanji*
