Bootleg Felix the cat football⚽️ (soccer for America) sculpture from Argentina
Something I found on Ebay a few years ago, the listing was a bid at the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not much to say, except the seller claiming it was for “shop advertising,” besides that,
interesting to see this cause I’ve never seen any unofficial Felix The Cat stuff ever, so this was a little of a surprise to me at the time of finding this,
But either way, not much to say, looks a little funny, football (soccer) related, probably handmade and painted, can’t figure out what year this came into existence.

Another bootleg of another franchise from the 80s at the time, that being the “Wuzzles,”
This isn’t the only time this company has done this, Remco, there way more examples of ripoffs if you just Google there name, you will find them, there most known fakie is a My Little Pony one,
Called the “Firffels,” just like the wuzzles, there quirk is being hybrids between different animals, like this frog butterfly, a bird fish, monkey elephant, etc,
They even made figures of these, books for the characters, even cassettes reading out the books, let’s just say if they didn’t get sue for selling these, they were sure to make more, plus Disney doesn’t own the concept so knockoff companies could go all out,
Don’t know if anyone was sued for this, all I know is that they exist, and are sorta rare to find nowadays, having a few Ebay listings with large prices.

Bootleg pound puppies right here, pretty techno colored
The listing has been sold sadly, but at least we have it archive here, even so, not much to say, funky colored pound puppy, if I had to guess it probably come out in the 80s around the same time when this franchise boomed.
Either way, let’s hope it’s new owner is happy to have them, what a neat find.

Humming mint
Debuting in 2014, born March 10th in a mint-green colored northern light, living with her friends in the woods, being birds and flowers, but also possibly other creatures as depicted in the artwork of the character,
her personality can be described as curious and gentle, her favorite hobby is singing.
Again another character with not much English information besides what the Hello Kitty Wiki provided, nothing about the creator or who draws the art sadly, besides the character’s once booming popularity, that sadly went down over the years,
If you, again, have more English information on this character then spreading this information would be nice.🌷

Did you know that somewhere in the late 80s (1987-1989,) there was supposed to be one more official Care Bear cousin?
The Care Bear artist at the time “Elena Kucharik” was tasked by the “American Greetings” company to make one more Care Bear cousin, she ended up making a koala character, which had no symbol and was most likely female.
Tumblr media
This character must have been well received because a prototype plush was made for the character,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite this however, the character never got to see the light of day, and was never released, it’s still unknown what happened to this toy product of the character,
However, eventually after many years the character was uncovered along with other unreleased material for many to see, including fans of the franchise,
the Care Bear related fandom taking notice of this character having no name, decided to give the new name “Glow Heart,” which much of the fandom still calls this character by.

More newly found MLP friends(?) fakies found on Argentinian website
Was going through Google photos to look at Fakie My Little Pony merchandise, when I stumbled across a website from Argentina selling vintage MLP Fakes, while looking around and seeing all the authentic Argentinian ponies had been sold out,
I found these guys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
An unknown but newly discovered to me, vintage knockoff, mostly likely not just bootlegging the basic My Little Pony dolls, but also taking the same idea from the “Pony friends” line from the first generation of the 80s MLP toys,
Pony friends being a line of non pony characters supposedly being friends to the pony characters of the official franchise, and some fakes have taken the same concept as well, this one being no different,
Not much else to say, expect the Spanish word “Amiguitos” most likely means “Little friends” in English, which if correct, would make sense for the concept this toy has, being a small toy with animals being friends, where this toy comes from could most likely be Argentina, as I found it on an Argentinian website that also sold other Official products and Fakies from well, Argentina, also the toy camel being yellow with pink hair, unlike what the back packaging art depicts.

More information and products here!
Now first what or who is the “Butterrick” company?
Found on “Wikipedia” site:
The Butterick Publishing Company was founded by Ebenezer Butterick to distribute the first graded sewing patterns. By 1867, it had released its first magazine, Ladies Quarterly of Broadway Fashions, followed by The Metropolitan in 1868. These magazines contained patterns and fashion news.
History
19th century
In the spring of 1867, E. Butterick and Co. began publishing Ladies Quarterly of Broadway Fashions. In 1868, the monthly magazine The Metropolitan began publication. Both magazines were aimed at women and served as a means to sell Butterick paper patterns via mail order.
In 1873, the two magazines were merged into a single publication, The Delineator. The magazine served as a marketing tool for Butterick patterns and discussed fashion and fabrics, including advice for home sewists.
By 1876, E. Butterick & Co. had become a worldwide enterprise selling patterns as far away as Paris, London, Vienna and Berlin, with 100 branch offices and 1,000 agencies throughout the United States and Canada.
20th century
In 1903, the company built the Butterick Building at Spring Street and MacDougal Street (now Sixth Avenue) in Manhattan. The building, which still stands, is 16 stories tall and has an additional two stories underground. Parts of the building interior were designed by Louis Tiffany, and it housed the second largest printing plant in the world (second only to the Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C.
In 1926, S.R. Latshaw was president of the Butterick Publishing Co.
One of Butterick's subsidiary companies was the Ridgway Company, which they purchased in 1909 and published the pulp magazines Romance, Everybody's Magazine and Adventure.
After 1950
In 1961, Butterick licensed the name and trademark Vogue Patterns from Condé Nast Publications, Inc. and purchased its pattern division. The company was purchased in 1967 by American Can Company and became a subsidiary renamed the Butterick Fashion Marketing Co. In the 1970s, sewing lost popularity and sales began to suffer. In 1983 Butterick's management group headed by Bill Wilson and John Lehmann purchased the company from American Can Company. William Proctor Wilson was the first chief executive officer of the privatized Butterick. In 1988 management sold approximately 60 percent of the company to Robert Bass's Acadia Investors. In 1988 Wilson was succeeded as chief executive officer by John Lehmann. In 2001, The McCall Pattern Company acquired Butterick and Vogue Patterns, and it still continued printing and marketing sewing patterns in and under all three lines as of the middle of February 2016. These continued to be sold from fabric and sewing-supplies stores like Jo-Ann Fabrics and Hancock Fabrics; Walmart commenced to offer them as well.
Now, another thing to note is some sources say it now goes under the name “The Knitting Mills Company” and it has been said they ceased production in 2017 or 2020, but there are still some patterns sold by other companies online under the same old name “Butterrick”.
But let’s step back a bit to the 1980s, back to the “Care Bears” boom and when these patterns where made and released, the patterns were first released it seems in 1983, and many character patterns were released even after 1983, but the most popular to make were of course the bears, so many homemade bears have been seen since and many have been sold second hand on places like Ebay, you can even buy the patterns itself unused,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even so, more then plush patterns were made too, like ornaments, costumes, and much more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of the plush pattern being well, a just pattern, people could use or make whatever they felt like at the time without it being close to the character or making a new character entirely.
Many features you may see in these plushies include:
Different types of
Eyes, felt/fabric, google eyes, plastic eyes, usually.
Tumblr media
Noses, plastic or felt usually.
Tumblr media
Bows.
Tumblr media
More examples of these patterns being used:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the 80s there were licensed Butterick sewing patterns for pretty much every Care Bear / Care Bear Cousin.  As a result, you can often find homemade vintage Care Bear plushes on eBay!
I love them because they’re each unique and made with love. <3

On today’s show we call life is more official merchandise that just doesn’t look right.
Yes this is real and is related to a basketball team based in Japan called the “Happinets” who also have a mascot who’s a pink frog “Bicky,” and Bicky’s girlfriend, another pink frog but with yellow hair “Lana-Chan,”
And apparently had a promotion with the Ginga series, otherwise, no words just, you have to see this with your own eyes to understand.

Finnish Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Urumi/PurePlastic merchandise🐶
Something interesting about the Japanese series “Sliver Fang” or “Ginga Nagareboshi Gin” is that in it somehow got really popular in Finland and the North in general, but for Finland it got many Finnish translation releases,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and to this day it’s very well loved and known there to my knowledge, So it wouldn’t be so farfetched for merchandise to be made and sold there,
Such as:
PurePlastic’s/Urumi’s plush line, these plush were made to release in Finland, they could also be shipped to other Scandinavian countries and South Korea, making them a little hard to find, though some characters are easier to find them others, there still pretty well loved even popular around the Ginga fandom and again since they had a county exclusive release there a bit hard to find along with being very wanted making them pretty pricey, but there high quality makes the item the worth the price for many.
Tags (two different known swing tags, green is the first release of a line of classic characters that appear in the 80s anime, and the blue tag is the line of more modern characters that appear in the 2000s anime and even in comics.)
Tumblr media
Plush of both lines
Classic (2020)
Tumblr media
(Puppy Gin, older Gin, older Riki, John, Akame, and kurojaki)
Modern (unknown)
Tumblr media
(Weed, Yukimura, Tesshin, Jerome, George, Hougen, Kyoshiro, Mel)
There have also been one more plush and even merchandise made by them, some of this merchandise (not plush) would come free with purchased item/items or only with specific items or circumstances not just with any item, such as:
Akakabuto plush (2023)
Tumblr media
Keychains (2020-2023, All classic and modern characters along with The First Wars spin-off, some single character keychains (not chibi, nor “The First Wars” spin-off, nor art and character fighting move keychains) coming as free items for preordering the plushies)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shirts (“Bear dogs” 2023, classic and modern, “Legends” 2023, classic characters,) Bags (shoulder bag 2021, classic and modern characters, shopping bag 2021, modern characters, The First Wars spin-off bag 2021, was free with certain orders for a limited time, modern characters,) badges (Gin and weed 2021, Riki and Yukimura 2021, John and Andy 2021, Ken and Kagetora 2021, Orion and Sirius 2021, Rigel and Bella 2021, two “Strive For Justice” Ukraine fundraising badges 2022, classic and modern characters) stickers (Weed 2020, was a free gift in some Urumi orders, Bella 2020, was given as a free preorder bonus with “Sunset” or “Wardogs” cups/mugs, classic and modern characters) magnets (weed family and allies 2020, Gin 2020, John 2020, GB 2020, Orion 2020, classic and modern characters) Fidget Spinner (Gin 2023, was given as a free preorder bonus with Akakabuto plush, classic character) Mask (2020, translation from Finnish is "Remember to social distance!" or "stay apart," characters are Orion, Sirius, Rigel other characters I can’t Identify, modern characters) Umbrella (date unknown, The First Wars spin-off characters on it, modern characters) Buckets (2020, Given out for the opening of a new Urumi shop, The First Wars spin-off characters on them, modern characters) Cups (“Legends” mug 2020, classic characters, “Gin, Shiro and Riki” mug 2020, classic characters, Sunset mug 2020, modern characters, Wardogs mug 2020, classic and modern characters, “Monsoon And Brothers” mug 2020, modern characters,) Postcards (“Year of the Boar“ The First Wars spin-off card 2020, another The First Wars card 2019 this time of the main series instead of spin-off,) and Posters (some of these images have appeared in other merchandise, like “Northern Lights” 2016 (modern and classic characters) art which appeared on a keychain (2020) with the same name as the art piece but without the top words on Keychain, “The Legend” poster 2016 (classic characters) it’s art appearing in Keychain (2020) with the same name, Sunset poster 2017 (modern characters) which it’s art has appeared on a mug (2020) of again the same name, not all art got this treatment only appearing as posters it seems, like, “Thoughts” poster 2016, watercolor poster 2017, “Next Generation” poster 2016 (modern and classic characters) (though similar it’s a different item and it’s not to be mistaken for Northern Lights 2016 art,) “Mother And Son” poster 2017 (modern and classic characters), “Kyoshiro Challenge” poster 2016, “Summer Day” poster (date unknown,) “Run” poster 2017, “Rest” poster 2017, “Monster In Paradise” poster 2016.)
Tumblr media
Honestly it’s clear to see how much Finland loves this series, Urumi definitely has a large category for any Ginga fan, though the plushies are still the most well loved, it’s still interesting to take a look at other items as well.
Thanks to the GingaMerch website for all this information, without you this merchandise wouldn’t be archived and out there for collectors to see, again thanks to them for all this important information, if your a Ginga fan or just interested for whatever reason, go check them out, there amazing!

Not sure what companies made these sadly, either way these plushies are the only three to be fruit related with the character,
