Cycle - Rinse & Repeat those Digital Particulates.

So I got an early Xmas gift to go with my X-Particles 4. I know, I know... most 3D designers would kill me because it’s not Octane or Reshift, yet Cycles 4D puts a huge fat smile on my face. I keep giving myself these hurdles and excuses to not put work out, but finding the right tools and confidence to move forward is a great feeling. 

You come to a point in your life when enough is enough and you just have to stop being so indecisive about everything and start yelling at yourself  “STOP trying to be the best at everything, choose a damn topic, focus and master it!”

In design, this will never happen, but it’s the journey...

The Blind Futur

Currently wondering what order I should be taking my next steps. Started watching Building a Brand on youtube from The Futur. The award-winning digital design agency Blind created a 12 episode series. It's about Blind working with a client and building a brand from start to finish. The client is looking to move forward and be competitive with all the other brands in their category. 

I’m really enjoying it and want to take tons of notes right now, but I believe I will just watch it once and absorb everything and then come back to it and take notes. Lots of interesting stuff and how their process is. Definitely be back for more! - Vio™

Golden Day - Golden Logo

So my logo has been through numerous rehauls over the years, and it seems each year it just keeps getting better and better. I am sure this is not my final rehaul but it is definitely going to be for the next couple of years. I’m sure I’ll find more imperfections while I am studying at the university. 

I was having some trouble finding out where I should spend my time this week, and I found solace in editing my logo because last year I ordered some business cards and they did not turn out as expected. I am assuming it is because I did not convert the paths properly in Adobe Illustrator. In any case, I rebuilt the same logo from the ground up using proper file paths. I will post a photo of the business card mishap in another entry. 

This past year I was extremely fascinated with the golden ratio and its use within the graphic design community, especially with logos. I felt it was best to try and incorporate this ratio into my design because I saw a lot of potential and opportunity. As of now, I used the ratio for the arms stemming out, and I used the circles found within the ratio to dictate the size of the skull, the eyes, the nostrils and the crown. Overall I am pretty pleased with the new dimensions of the logo, except for the fact that when I downscale the image for social media it looks a bit small & thin. But I will trust the ratio for now and worry about more updates in the future. - Vio™

Gear Tuning

So finally got through chapter one of Adrian Shaughnessy’ book - How to be a graphic designer, without losing your soul. And wow... I am speechless, his vocabulary is tremendous, his words and direction completely blew me out of the water. He really got my gears turning, and my mind couldn’t stop running away on me. I sometimes had to re-read a paragraph five times over just to absorb it all. I truly recommend it to any junior designer just starting out and haven’t got their feet wet yet. I am very confused as to - should I take notes while I’m reading? Should I just read through it once, then go over it, again and again?
