JUST SOME THOUGHTS! I don’t really like the “go from the top up” advice on drapery/clothes - if you’re having difficulty try it like this!
YES I see the typo… I’m so sorry folks… I was in a frenzied rush to make this…… and I’m too lazy to fix it……

on pen names: i think they are a very valuable tool, particularly to separate one's own private life with their professional life, or to enable everyone to look at an author's work with fresh eyes. they can be helpful when you're writing in a different genre for the first time, or if you've significantly departed from your earlier work.
what they AREN'T for is deceiving people into giving second chances that aren't deserved, or evading accountability by hiding behind an ***ambiguous*** name.
i feel sad for the authors i've seen on twt the last few days that feel they've had to prove themselves and reveal their legal identity because of two (that i have seen so far) deeply strange cases
tldr: pen names are good! brownface and bullying is not!

It's such a wild experience to go from the WCB book 2 draft, that currently has 37K+ words and almost 100 pages, to the TSFS draft that's barely 10 pages long and has like 4K words. It's like aww baby draft next to big boi draft, baby draft is still freshly new and big boi draft has seen some things

Hi! I was on Instagram recently and stumbled upon Nisreen Shehada's account. Before October 7, Nisreen posted very aesthetic, well crafted baking TikToks/videos (which looked delicious!) Since October 7, she has been sharing her daily life in Gaza.
This is the first reel of hers I saw. It's so important that she is not only documenting her daily life right now (for public record, for memory, for history) but that she is doing it in a format that is so familiar to anyone online right now.
Tumblr media
I think that even well intentioned people can sometimes unintentionally dehumanize groups fighting for justice amidst tragedy. It is vital that we view Palestinians not just as victims or impoverished or assume life has always been this non-stop nightmare. Literally, Nisreen is like so many people I know. Like so many people you know! Just a regular lady who loves baking! Just your friendly neighborhood dentist! Aperson who loves their families. A devoted cat mom. A very stylish dresser.
I love that her page shows how people are living day-to-day now. And I love that it shows her finding moments of joy even in the darkest of times. ❤️
Tumblr media
Please give her account a follow.
Edit to add: I've made a separate account for archiving videos and posts from regular people in Palestine documenting daily life. You can follow it @watermelllonarchive

Webzine submissions open for writing!
Tumblr media
Dear writers on tumblr, pour yourself a drink on the house. We've been asking for editors for our webzine in the last few weeks (you can still sign up here). We are focusing on going into different worlds. Now, we can announce that we are accepting writing submissions for it!
Who can submit writing?
All writers can submit writing to our zine, whether you have already published other works. Or have previously shared other writing pieces on [tumblr] or Archive of our own (or similar platforms). Our editors will pick their favourite pieces for each category based on different criteria, the most important thing is how well the pieces fit our theme Portal to Another World.
What kind of writing can I submit?
We are open to any form of writing! You can submit any form of writing from poetry, prose, flash fiction, a short story, song lyrics or even a non-fiction essay. As long as it fits the theme and is unpublished. Our theme is Portal to Another World. Unpublished in this case means it isn't published in print or online. You can't submit excerpts from your WIPs when they can't be understood outside the context of your WIP.
Will you compensate me?
As much as we would love to pay all contributors, we don't have the funds. We discussed this on our server and decided we want our zine accessible to all readers. Understand this is a passion project, so you will not be compensated for your writing. The finished zine will be shared as a free PDF download with a pay-what-you-want option on our KoFi. The little money we make from the zine will be used to fund future projects of writeblrcafé (e.g. a second zine) and boosts for our Discord server.
Where can I submit my writing?
Just fill in the form below! You can submit your writing as a PDF file. The word limit for prose is 2500 words. The limit for poetry is 50 verses. You can only submit one piece of writing. If your piece of writing is longer, feel free to submit it. We will decide on a case-to-case basis. We hope many of you take this chance to collaborate on our webzine, which will be compiled in a compelling design.
Submissions for artwork will open soon!
Please reblog this post to spread the word in the writing community!

At 36K+ words, we've officially entered the third act in book 2 of Where Camellias Blossom
Tumblr media
This 1st draft is coming together and we're getting closer to the darkest hour of the trilogy. I did some timeline and outline work today to figure out the order of things cause I had gone a bit astray, however it all seems like it's gonna fit as it's supposed to by the end of the book.
And I can smell the end approaching. I can almost feel it. Let's fucking go.

sometimes you just have to write 2300 words on your phone at one in the morning
but like, why? last line tag!
twelve copper coins from @avrablake two silver coins from @autumnalwalker half a gold coin from @antihell
still on the star wars fic. I'm trying not to let it get derailed by a the new versions of it I didn't mean to start developing in my head.
You've always loved rain.
As a child you'd sit inside the mouth of a cave and watch it melt the landscape around you, bleeding the rock and painting the ground. You loved to be out in the wet, to climb over slippery rocks with perfect balance and fear nothing.
Thunder was equally loved. On Retevya, rain and thunder never mixed. You'd either be drenched or surrounded by the claps and crashes of the stormy air. Lightning sometimes joined, a fantastic display across purple skies that delighted you, but the thunder stopped as soon as the rain started.
The first time you experienced a storm with rain echoed by thunder and lit by lightning was the night your brother died.
this doesn't even make sense with the personal history I've made up for her but whatever, I'm not writing this for ao3. yet. I'm slowly losing my fascination with second person so this could start being in 3rd present soon enough. we'll see.

How to draw Black characters. Because it's way too obvious when you drew a white person and gave them Black skin.
