“I love you so much,” Tim breathes into her hair. “I love you too,” she whispers, and in the aftermath of her words she feels the tension leave his body along with his shaky exhale. Lucy tightens her arms around him, holding him up and keeping him close, drawing out their goodbye just a little longer. They’re slow to separate, taking a half-step back as they lazily begin to untangle their limbs. Tim slides his hands up to cradle her jaw, and Lucy lifts her eyes to his, finds them shimmering with tears as he gazes down at her. “Thank you,” he murmurs, tipping forward to press his lips to her forehead. It’s so excruciatingly similar to that night and yet it feels so different this time, the gesture filled with hope rather than heartache. “For what?” Lucy wraps her hands around his biceps, fingers digging into his skin as she holds him close. Tim leans back just enough to meet her eyes once more, and in his watery gaze she sees hope and gratitude and adoration and boundless love. “Giving me a second chance.”

Still, after that moment, she’d still planned to get it removed. It took her a while sitting with his words before her plans changed. It wasn’t until she realized she’d forgotten to continue the countdown, until one day she ran out the door without bothering with the concealer and then one day she realized she never went back applying it again, until she noticed that when she stared at it in the mirror the tattoo was suddenly sparking strength and gratitude for her survival instead of grief and no longer a surprise to see. She remembers when they had looked at the other victims, before she was taken. They had seen the tattoos etched on their skin. Those tattoos had still been fresh and dark, never fading the way hers had begun to. She feels a sense of tribute to those other victims, a sense of power over her own life, to be a woman who actually gets to live with the tattoo. A survivor.

Hello everyone! 👋
Just popping in with a(nother) request to please spam our inbox with quotes from any and all fics! Every submission is welcome and will be added to the queue (we shuffle it every time we add new quotes to mix things up!)
We've been posting 3 quotes per day, but we may have to reduce if we don't see more submissions come in (with this schedule, we'll be completely out of quotes in 11 days...)
Thank you, and happy reading!! 💕

I move through the world with the heartbroken (my longings stay unspoken)
The first time Tim spoke to Lucy again after the parking lot was six days later. Somehow, they had managed to avoid each other until today, and he wasn’t sure if he should love or hate it. But he couldn’t dwell on that too much right now, not when he knew she’d just come back from an intense standoff with a suspect that left said suspect dead and her with a bullet in the vest. Again.
And even though he wanted, hell, needed to keep his distance from her because he didn’t deserve to be in her presence anymore, he couldn’t stop himself from checking in with her anyway. Because he would always care and worry about her and love her with everything he had. It’s why he walked away in the first place.
You want the best for the people you love, and he wasn’t what was best for Lucy.
“Are you okay?”
She stuttered to a halt, turning her head slightly to glance up at him.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
He could see that she wasn’t, though. She was clearly still rattled about what had happened earlier that day. Or maybe it was him she was skittish and uncomfortable around now, not that he could blame her for that.
“Lucy-“
“I said I’m fine, Sergeant Bradford. Don’t pretend like you suddenly care about my wellbeing.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You know exactly what that means. You don’t get to worry about me anymore. You walked away from me, so you have to live with the consequences. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back out on patrol. Sir.”
Before he could even utter a single syllable in response, she had turned on her heels and was gone.
Well shit.
keep reading on AO3.

She reached out a hand to his cheek as she spoke, her fingers cupping his jaw, and this time - this time - he felt something. A spark. A warmth. Something like static, travelling from the tip of her thumb to the skin just above the corner of his lip. Her eyes widened slightly, and he realised she must have felt it too.

I want to write, but I also don’t want to, like, actually have to write. Why can’t the words just write themselves?

The fact that every time someone says something negative about a fic, it’s on bloody “anonymous” because these cowards aren’t even brave enough to reveal who they are.
If you don’t like something, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT AND MOVE ON. No one wants you to read anyway if all you do is leave negativity behind. I’m so damn tired of this shit.
We write fics for free, show writers some love and respect for putting their works out there. It’s a lot more than just clicking a few buttons to hit post - we put our hearts and souls into these stories, so please just be kind.
Is that too much to ask?

She stares at him with a look he never wants to remember – pain and heartache, fear, and a tiny bit of hope. Hope that he won’t do it. But he does.

The truth is, Lucy kind of has a crush on Tim. It sounds so juvenile to say it that way, but it’s also fairly accurate. After all, how can she not? He’s hot. Not to mention the fact that beneath his gruff exterior is a kind and caring heart. It’s not like it’s serious or anything, and she has no doubt it will pass once she’s not riding with him every day. But she likes him. So when he tells her he doesn’t think she has what it takes to be a UC, Lucy decides she absolutely can’t pass up an opportunity to simultaneously prove her point, mess with him, and maybe test the waters just a little.

We all know the running gag on the show is Tamara walking in on Tim and Lucy kissing, but I find it hard to believe she never walked in on anything more than that.
Could you write something where Tamara walks in on a more M (or E if u really wanted) rated scene and it just be extremely awkward between everyone?
Oh gosh, anon, I'm not sure I can do this to poor Tamara. While I see the potential for humor here, I feel like more than anything it would just be awkward and uncomfortable for her to actually walk in on them, and I'm not sure I want to traumatize her like that.
However, I do have a chapter of this fic in which Tamara walks in on the aftermath. So maybe that counts?
