What a story of the fallen

From former glory, a bright light

Burnt out and I tried not to

But oh how I cried...damn

Thought those feelings died

When the world still seemed kind

You used to be the kindest of all

But then every note and call

Came fewer and farther between

Got to where we'd only meet in dreams

When my worst nightmare came to life

Didn't even see you there anymore

We fell fatefully out of touch like

We never met to begin with

Whenever I saw your name in print

On the newspaper page I folded

Into a crumpled heap, told myself

Never again would I let myself

Fall for a star rising

Sky high out of reach
