"YN we have alot to do before the next mission," your brother says

"Yes and we have time so stop running everyone ragged if you expect them to fight off 15 meter titans!" You argue back

Not that he takes you seriously 😒 but still

Not only do you hold major control over Levi but also you are the calm Hange needs

"YN ALL THIS RESEARCH ISNT GOING TO DO ITSELF!" Hange screams

"Yes but it can wait for you to sleep for a few hours," you say, pulling your friend from their station

"YN I'm so close to a breakthrough!" Hange exclaims

"That's great but it can wait for you to take a nap," you say full on grabbing your friend and dragging them from their workshop

Literally YNs job is not to fight titans, it's to babysit the scouts 😅

Even Erwin relys on you to keep him sane

"Alright times up, put the pen down," you say, bursting into your friends chambers

"Just a few more minutes," Erwin says, scribbling on some papers

"No! The timer went off and the pen GOES DOWN!" You say going up to grab the pen from Erwins hands

"Just a few minutes YN," he says quickly pulling it away as you glare 😑

"I swear to god Erwin I will set fire to this entire office if you don't put that pen down right now-" you 😡

Erwin 👉🏻😐 you wouldn't dare....

You 👉🏻 🕯 try me....

The pen goes down as Erwin stands up, moving past you

"You are ridiculous," he says

You 👉🏻😊 🤗

But you see YN, your efforts don't go unnoticed...

Because a certain someone is always watching 👀

Kind of creepy but listen, his intentions are good ok

You see, a certain Scout member just so happens to have a MAJOR crush on you

Literally he's hard-core in love with you YN

Jean has always thought you were perfect and an all around amazing person

He respects everything about you from the way you kill titans to the way you care for your friends and family

You've sort of formed an interesting friendship with Jean

While we all know he can act a bit "childish" we also know he is super reliable and helpful

Hrs always there when you need him 🥰

So much so that you sort of, kind of, develop a teeny TINY crush on the man's

Honestly, do not blame you YN 🥵

But you had always thought Jean liked Mikasa

I mean, would wouldn't be entirely wrong YN but he still had more feelings towards you than anyone else

In fact 👀 he'd often get a little jealous when he say you talking a certain someone

"Hey YN!" Eren would say as you turned and smiled

"Hey Eren! What's up?" You asked

"Not much just taking a break," Eren would say sitting next to you

As in, RIGHT next to you...

Less than an inch apart 😑

So leave it to our buddy Jean to waltz right up to Eren and tell him off!

"Aren't you suppose to be cleaning Titan boy?" Jean would growl

"I'm just taking a break and I thought I'd spend it talking to a pretty girl," Eren said as you blushed heavily

Oof Jean was not impressed in the slightest!

"Maybe YN doesn't want to talk to you? She looks busy," Jean said, bending down in front of Eren and glaring at him

You are still just like 👉🏻😃

"Well if I'm bothering YN she can tell me herself," Eren says back, standing up and facing off with Jean

Alright nows definitely the time to interfere YN

Too bad your big brother has that taken care of

"YEAGER get your ass back to cleaning! KIRSCHTEIN pick up a mop, if you have time to talk you have time to clean!" Levi yelled as you giggled at both men

“YN WHY ARE YOU INCITING A RIOT?!?” Levi yells at you

You see, Levi knows Jean had a crush on you

And he also knows you have a crush on jean 👀

And he doesn’t like it one bit

Jean also knows that Levi knows that he has a crush on you

Phew 😮‍💨 it’s like a game of telephone over here

But Jean isn’t deterred

He does everything and anything to impress you

From finishing his cleaning first to helping you clean to killing 15 meter titans

“Did you see that Yn?” Jean boasts as you smile and nod

“Everyone saw that brat,” Levi says, swinging by and killing two more 15 meters right in front of Jean

Oof-

However Jean just takes that as a challenge to win your brother over

So when your ODM malfunctions as you are swinging through the forest, you panic

“Crap crap!” You scream as you fall

“YN!” Erwin and Hange both shout as they race to get you

Fortunately for you, a knight in shining armor comes to your rescue 💅

That’s right, Jean is there to save the day!

He catches you, carefully swinging to a branch and setting you down

“Are you ok?” He asks as he checks you over intently

“YN!” Hange and Erwin shout as they land next to you

“I’m fine, thanks Jean!” You say as your brother swings by

“YN your lucky there weren’t any titans around or you would have been a goner,” Levi says as you glare

“Well thankfully Jean saved me!” You spit back as your brother rolls his eyes and continues on

Poor Jean isn’t going to get Levi’s approval that easily

Good thing your an independent woman and you don’t need your brothers blessing

So when you get back to base, you confront Jean

“Jean, I just wanted to say thanks for today,” you say, playing with your fingers as he looks at you

Suddenly, you lift your head and your lips graze his softly

Jean rn 👉🏻😐😳

“I like you Jean and I was kind of wondering if maybe…” you say before you are immediately cut off, his lips on yours again

“I like you too YN, a lot actually!” He says as you smile

And everyone lives happily ever after 😌

Because one thing about being in the scouts in that you literally have zero alone time

Every time you and Jean think you can be alone, someon interrupts

Once it was Armin, another time Mikasa, then Eren

Literally there is no safe space

Thankfully you manage to find a safe space behind the stables

That is, until 👀

“HOLY CRAP I KNEW IT!” You hear shouting as you and Jean quickly seperate to see Hange and Erwin staring at you

“Please please don’t say anything to Levi!” You immediately beg

Hange rn 👉🏻😐😏

“Don’t worry YN, your secret is safe with us,” Erwin says as you sigh in relief

“Thanks commander,” Jean responds as he smiles at you

“You two really like each other huh?” Hange says as you both nod

“You really think Levi would disapprove if you were happy Yn?” Erwin asks

You, Jean and Hange 👉🏻😐 really?

“Ok noted but I really think you should tell him,” Erwin says walking away

Sure, you’ll tell Levi one day

It might be on his deathbed but you’ll eventually tell him right?

Well unfortunately for you, things don’t happen that way

You see, Jean is kind of, well he’s a possessive guy

Literally he gets so jealous and so incredibly easily

So when Eren is innocently flirting with you in the dining hall 👀

“TITAN BOY LEAVE MY GIRLFRIEND ALONE BEFORE I REARRANGE YOUR FACE!” Jean yells as everyone looks at him

Everyone including Levi

“This is fine just don’t make eye contact don’t make eye contact… CRAP,” you think as you accidentally look at your brother who is now glaring at you over his tea

“YN, Kirstein my office NOW!” Levi screams as he stops out

Hange 👉🏻🫡 fair well YN

You and Jean enter Levi’s office and sit down

Not only is he sitting at his desk but he’s staring at both of you

“Levi I can explain-”

“It’s not Yn’s fault-”

“I just want to know one thing… why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Levi asks

You and Jean 👉🏻🤨🤨 wait what-

“I knew you two liked each other for a while and I suspected you were dating but I’m just wondering why you wouldn’t tell me?” Levi asks

“I- I just thought you wouldn’t approve,” you say

Levi sighs, “are you happy Yn?”

“Im happy,” Jean says : D

“I didn’t ask you Kirstein! YN?”

You grab Jeans hand and smile, “I am!”

“Ok well that’s all I need,” Levi says, “now get out of here.”

You and Jean stand, quietly moving quickly to the door

“Kirschstein, I’m not done with you yet!” Levi says as Jean gulps

You just smile, turning to kiss you boyfriend

* Shinsou is the type of partner that doesn’t really get jealous. You can be close to your guy friends and he wont have a problem with is because he knows you only love him

*Shinsou finds it adorable when you get upset with him, it’s usually because he isn’t taking care of himself the way he should be, not eating, drinking water or sleeping enough are usually the things you get upset at him for but he can’t take you seriously cause you get all red in the face and have a cute little pout when you “scold” him

*Shinsou is a starer. He will stare at you any chance he gets, whether he is right next to you or watching you from across the class room or the training grounds. He LOVES when you catch him doing it because blush erupts across your face and he just smiles to himself cause he caused you to get flustered so easily

*Now for someone who forgets to eat occasionally, Shinsou always seems to have snacks on him, you guys can been studying and he will randomly pull out some chips or your favorite candy to give to you. The same thing happens when you’re cuddling in the dorms, you’ll mention that you want to go to the kitchen to find something to eat and he’ll get up from the bed and pull things out of his backpack

* We all know that this boy hardly sleeps, so its no surprise that if you have a hard time sleeping or anything, you can always count on him to be up at ungodly hours. You can call him at 2-3am and talk until you fall asleep. You dont like to admit it but he knows that his voice soothes you to the point of falling asleep.

*Now, the only time he gets real sleep is when he’s cuddling with you and you’re running your hands through his hair, twisting it around, braiding it, whatever. As long as you have a hand in his hair, the boy is out like a light

*Shinsou already tends to ignore people he isn’t close with, but man, if you’re around, you’re the only person in the world to him. He will ignore everyone, and i mean EVERYONE, teachers included. All his attention will be on you and what you’re saying/doing and he has no regrets in this.

* He will let you win at video games if its just the two of you playing, but you better not get butt hurt when he beats you in every game when you all are playing with others, ESPECIALLY with Denki. Those two will go hours on end beating each other out, sometimes they tie with each other so many times they just give up.

*All in all Hitoshi Shinsou is an all around loving partner, he will always put you above himself. That you can count on.

Jealousy, Jealousy

Tomura Shigaraki x fem!reader

A/N- sorry this took so long! Ive had work and school so I haven't had much time. Hope you enjoy.

Word Count- 1k+ (Kinda got out of hand whoops)

Your laugh mixed with Dabis could be heard from his seat at the bar. He couldn't understand why it bothered him so fucking much, you joined the league with the burnt man so it only makes sense that the two of you were so close. But the way that you would pull on Dabi's jacket sleeve to get his attention, the inside jokes the two of you would share and so much more ignited him with a burning rage. Shigaraki was so lost in his thoughts he hadn't even realized he activated his quirk till he felt liquid running down his arm.

The glass he was holding disintegrated. "Young Master, why does it bother you so much that she's friends with Dabi? They both have equal roles in the League." Kurogiri speaks up while cleaning up the liquor. Scratching his neck, Shiggy sighed in response. "I just want her to be as close to me as she is to him, I hate this feeling. When it comes to her, I just can't win. We have conversations but as soon as he walks in all of Y/n's attention is diverted to him and I'm left in the dust." The laughter in the living area had died down to whispers. "Why dont you just tell her how you feel? Maybe she feels the same" a voice speaks up from the booths. Turning to look at the culprit, Shiggy snickers. "and what exactly would you know about that you blood sucker" Putting a hand to her chest in mock hurt, Toga just laughs and says "More than you do crusty boy." With another bought of laughter Toga leaves the room. Leaning his elbows back on the bar the blue haired male reached for the glass Kurogiri had placed in front of him and took a sip.

After a few more drinks Tomura was feeling less rage towards your friendship with Dabi, that was until the two of you walked in and sat in one of the booths together. Being the person you are you looked over at Shiggy and smiled before turning back to your friend. Every little touch was amplified in his eyes, legs so close they're touching, the burnt bacon bitches arm around the back of the booth behind you, your hand on his arm. It was really pissing the red eyed male off, he just wanted to march right over there, pull Dabi from his spot and decay him right in front of you. He doesn't, instead he sits at his stool and grips his glass until there's was an audible CRACK. He had destroyed yet another glass today all due to his jealousy towards Dabi. The shattered glass had caught your attention, whipping your head in the direction of the sound, you saw glass on the floor and his hand dripping blood. "Shiggy! Your hand!" starting to get up and rush to him, you continued, "what happened?". You tried to get close enough to him to see the damage but he didn't let you get far. He pushed you aside as he stormed out of the bar. From his place at the booth, Dabi just scoffs and says "what the hell happened for crusty to do that" rolling your eyes you start to carefully pick up the glass shards that landed on the floor. You tried to hide the concerned look on your face as you stared at the spot Shiggy had just been standing in but to no avail. After a minute you hear shuffling from behind you, "Ill finish cleaning it up, go look for your "LOver Boy" sis." Looking up at Dabi you roll your eyes and give him the finger. "I thought I told you to stop calling me that. And He's NOT my "LOver BoY" thank you very much."He rolls his eyes in response and goes to continue where you had left off. Running down the halls, you call for the angry leader, hoping he didn't get too far or leave. Looking through each open door trying to figure out where he went, you heard muttering and curses coming from his bedroom. "Of course why didn't I check there first." you say to yourself as you walk down to his doorway. Knocking on the door frame you catch his attention. Scoffing he rolls his eyes, "What do you want Y/N?" he continues wrapping his hand in cloth. "Shiggy, will you please let me help you with that?" walking in to sit on the edge of the bed with him. He was very reluctant but he gave you his hand to take care of. "Tomu-.. sorry, Shiggy what happened? what caused you to break the glass?" you ask as you finish wrapping his injured hand. "YOU! You happened!" he shouts which cause you to recoil from him slightly. "why.. why do you make me feel like this?" looking down at his hands he sighs. "Do you make him feel this way too?" the way he said him had so much resentment behind it, it only took a second for it to dawn on you. "Him? do you mean Dabi?" you ask, wide eyed, blinking at Shigaraki in surprise. The only response that you were given was a snarl of disgust. "Tomura," sighing you continue, "My relationship with Dabi isn't like that, we dont have any romantic feelings towards each other, he's basically my brother. In all honesty, I have romantic feelings for you..." you didn't want to look at him in the eyes so you looked down at your hands. After a few minutes of silence you decided to get up, "Im sorry, I shouldn't have said anything, I leave you be. If you need me to treat your hand again just come to my room." As you turned to leave the room, he grabbed your arm with four fingers. "Please dont go, im sorry I was just in shock. I really like you too, so much so that my jealousy and rage towards your relationship with Dabi made me blind." Smiling down at him you held onto his arm with your free arm. "Tomura, its ok. I'll stay, just please dont feel the need to hide from me anymore ok? I really like you and hope we can be together." Tomura Shigaraki only smiled in response as he pulled you into a hug. He didn't want it any other way and he's so elated that you were finally his.

The kind of Partner Dabi is:

Dabi x gender neutral reader (no pronouns used except “you”)

Warnings: N/a

* Dabi may not seem like the type of partner to really give much effort in a relationship but he’s the partner who loves unconditionally because he didn’t receive love growing up. He doesn’t want to lose you, so he loves you whole heartedly.

* Dabi is so protective of you. If anyone so much as looks at you the wrong way they get burned. He’s learning to control that though because you mentioned you didn’t like it very much. (He still does it, just not around you)

* Play fights are a common occurrence in your relationship. Dabi knows how to pick on you in just the right way for the conversation to turn into either tickle fights or into wrestling. (He doesn’t say this out loud, but he lets you win on purpose because he loves seeing you smile.)

* If you dye your hair, he 100% helps you. We all KNOW this man is great at dying hair, have you seen his? Anyway, he will make sure that no dye gets on your skin, he makes sure it doesn’t stain, and that your hair is throughly coved in dye so it doesn’t come out patchy.

* Dabi HATES that you want to fight when it comes to the League. He would rather you just hang back and not get involved because he doesn’t want you to get hurt. If you do get hit, the person that hit you will be either dead or badly injured within seconds. Dabi will most likely have Kurogiri make a portal to you so he can get you out of there with out further harm.

* He loves when you kiss him, the feeling of your soft hands on his face or back or anywhere on his body for that matter makes him melt. He knows he’s not the most gentle guy in the world, but he tries for you. He doesn’t want to be the one responsible for hurting you.

* If you have pains or cramps he will heat up his hand just enough to have that pleasant heat to relax the muscles that are giving you issues.

* When it comes to sleeping Dabi doesn’t care how you all sleep. As long as he has you next to him he’s fine. He does prefer to be able to hold you, but he knows he gets really warm so at times it’s not practical.

* Dabi is so happy to have found a partner like you. He hates that it’s in the world he lives in, and that it’s always surrounded by fights, and uncertainties. But nonetheless, he will protect you with his life.

Levi Ackerman, humanities strongest solider, the captain that rarely showed emotions, was currently working on paperwork with your head in his lap on the couch in his office. He knew he shouldn't be working this late, and had promised on multiple occasions that he would leave it till the next day.

You had brought him tea over an hour ago, mostly to say goodnight but also to make sure he was doing ok. Somewhere between you setting the cup down on his desk, giving him a kiss goodnight and walking towards the door, he had asked you to stay for a little bit, which is what got him to his current situation, running his free hand through your hair as you slept.

He doesn't understand how he let someone break his walls down, he's never let anyone in, the only people besides you that really knew what his life had been like were Ewrin and Hange, and even then it was very minimal details.

Sighing as he finished signing the report he was working on, he slowly moved you from his lap into his arms. He decided the rest could wait until tomorrow, cause how could he let his caring, understanding, and patient s/o, sleep on the couch. He turned out the lights in his office and made his way to your shared bedroom.

It was moments like this, him laying you down in bed, watching you snuggle in and sigh in sleep filled content, that reminded him why he did what he does. To protect those he loves, whether he shows it in public or not. Getting into bed besides you, he pulls you closer. In doing so you wake up a little bit, "shh, its ok my darling, go back to sleep. I love you so very much Y/N, my one and only, the one I will share my life with." smiling as you snuggled closer to him, he thought just how lucky he was to have you. He will never let anything happen to you. This is one side of Captain Levi Ackerman that the Scouts will never see.

Captain Levi, the man who never showed emotions, was hopelessly devoted and in love with you, he would and will do anything to make you happy. Even if it puts him behind on work. It doesn't matter what he lived with in the past, as long as he has you, that doesn't matter much to him anymore.

What’s that supposed to be about baby?

Summary- in which you call them by a pet name for the first time

Tsukishima Kei

You and Kei hadn’t been together for long, you had meet at the museum on chance, you had just started working there and got lost your first day. Now we all know Tsukishima isn’t the friendliest of people, especially when it comes to someone new, but it was different this time. He approached you first, mostly because he knew people shouldn’t be in that part of the museum, and second, he was itching to be snarky

It didn’t work out the way he was expecting, you were actually really nice and apologetic about ending up lost. He saw how distraught you looked and decided to help you. From that day on you considered him a friend. He was the one you’d go to with problems when it came to your exhibits, or something going on with guests, etc. as your friendship progressed, you ended up catching feelings for him, and he caught feelings for you as well. One date turned into two which turned into three which then turned into losing track of how many you’ve been on

That’s how you now find yourselves spending nights at each other’s apartments. Currently you were over at his, lounging on his sofa, with a book in your hands, and your feet up in his lap. You both do your own thing but in each others company. You had your book and he had some paperwork he had to finish so he was leaned over your legs to reach the coffee table in front of you both. The only sound in the apartment was the scribbling of his pen on his paper and the flipping of the pages in the book as you read them.

After a while you decided that you wanted some tea but didn’t want to get up and get it yourself. Kei had finished with the paper he was working on and had leaned back to give his eyes a break, he was rubbing your legs with one hand while the other was rubbing his temple in an attempt to get rid of an oncoming headache. Sitting up a little bit you smiled at him, “hey Kei?” He hummed in response, “Can you make me a cup of tea please?” You said smiling at him innocently. Sighing he agreed, as he was walking to the kitchen you decided to try something out, since you two hadn’t been together for long, you hadn’t really explored the world of pet names, so why not today?

“Thank you baby!” You exclaimed just as he was about to leave the living room. The sudden outburst made him freeze in the threshold. You couldn’t see his face but the tips of his ears turning a bright red was a dead give away that you had caught him off guard. “Whats that supposed to be about “baby”?” He asked as he turned to face you again. Giggling you sat on your knees as you leaned over the back of the couch to look at him, “what? Do you not like it?” Smirking he just shook his head as he went back to the task at hand.

Calling out from the kitchen Tsukishima took a play from your book, “what kind of tea do you want babygirl?” You could hear the smirk behind his words without having to see it. Shocked you dropped the book you had picked back up, “umm ginger peach please.” You replied. You were still a little shocked by the time he came back to the couch. “What? Do you not like the name?” He said with a slight smile as he placed the two mugs down on the table away from any important papers he may have out. Giving him a pointed look he put his hands up in surrender as he sat back down. “I didn’t say that i didn’t like it, i was just caught of guard is all…. I love you Kei.” You leaned over to give him a sweet peck on the cheek, but he turned to capture your lips with his. Placing one hand on the back of your neck and the other on your crossed legs, he leaned his forehead against yours. “I love you too Y/n,” smiling he moved away and pinched your cheek, “and don’t you mean,”I love you baby?”

Its safe to say that pet names will always be a part of your relationship from this point forward, but neither one of you had objections to it, it just made your relationship stronger.

Suna Rintaro

Having a relationship with Suna was nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. It was obvious that he loved you, anyone could tell just by the way he looked at you, (and the unholy amount of pictures he has of you stored in his phone). there were many things different about him compared to past relationships but the one thing that stood out to your friends for some reason was that he only called you Y/n and nothing else really. But to you that was ok because you didn’t need to be called babe or baby or any other kind of pet name to feel validated in your relationship. But you did want to try calling him a pet name just to get a gauge to how he feels about them.

Laying down in your shared bedroom with your head on his chest as he was scrolling through his social media you decided to put your little plan into place but wanted to build up to it. “Rinnie? Can we put on a movie please? I wanna cuddle as we watch something…” you said softly as you pressed a kissed to his bare shoulder. He placed his phone down next to you and pulled you closer, kissing the crown of your head he replied, “Of course we can Y/n, any preference to what we watch?” Nodding your head “no” as you buried your face closer to his neck he chuckles. ‘Cute’ he thinks before he mumbled “Let me go so i can make some snacks and bring it back to the room, put something on and then we i get back we can make a little fort or something ok?” But you were very reluctant to let him go. “You need to let me go…” “NO!” You exclaimed as you started peppering kisses all over him. In retaliation, Rintaro flipped the two of you over so you were pinned to the bed with him on top. “She’s adorable” was all he could think, he was so lost in thought that you had to kiss him to bring him back down, “earth to Suna, hello, are you there baby?” You asked waving your now free hand in front of his dazed face. “Hi, yes im ok….” He responded but then his face went into one of surprise, “Wait wait wait, what did you call me?” He gasped. Looking down at you with that sly smile, he teased, “What’s that about? You never call me pet names?” feeling your cheeks bloom with heat from the intense stare of your lover you shrugged your shoulders the best you could, “i dont know, i just wanted to try it out, we’ve been together for a long time, i wanted something other than Rinnie, unless you dont like it?” You questioned. Leaning down he started pressing kisses up your neck, along your jaw and finally to your lips, “what if i said i loved it and was just waiting for you to make a move with the names before i did? Hmm?” He implied between kisses to your ever growing warm face. “I love you Suna Rintaro, with my whole heart, your fucking adorable.” You laughed out as he started peppering his kisses faster. Once he was satisfied with the amount of kisses he had given you he pulled away, flipping you guys back over so he was under you. Straddling him, he put his hands through your hair has you put yours down on his chest. “I love you too y/n, always will baby.”

The love you felt for the man below you was something unexplainable, he was amazing in every way possible and even though you didn’t need the pet names to feel validated it was nice to hear. The man you had feelings for ever since high school, the man you had been friends with for years, and finally were able to call your own not to long ago. He did everything he could to make you feel loved even before you were together, making sure you ate, slept, etc. Coming out of your own thoughts you looked down at Suna and smiled before you blurted something out that caused him to falter, “hey baby, i think i want to marry you…” pulling you down for a hug he whispered, “i want to marry you too Y/n L/n.”

I didn’t read the tags 😭 I don’t need to be crying at work right now

iwaizumi hajime.

iwaizumi exhales in the palms of his hands. "how long?"

"a month or so, maybe," you look ever so calm, watching people enter and leave the airport, fiddling with your fingers occasionally out of habit. while your actions might look like some sort of obsession with observing people, they're actually subtle attempts to avoid looking at iwaizumi.

"was it hard?" he doesn't sound angry, or disappointed, or sad. it's not pure numbness, but his words aren't intoxicated with emotions either. "thinking about breaking up?"

"i tried not to overthink," you reply, still looking at the people, their luggage, noticing everything that the attendants are doing at the check-in counters. it's hard to keep up with everyone's actions in the multitude.

you've always associated airports with bits of romance. you've seen people break up on airports and kiss their lovers goodbyes until the last boarding calls. airports, according to you, are no different than hospitals. people visit both the places, but you don't know if they're coming back. although, not everyone thinks of airports as a place so gloomy that it stirs your stomach, but you've taught yourself to think that way in the past few months.

you've played it in your head multiple times, how you would break up with iwaizumi. you settled upon doing it last week, but never got a chance. days passed, you felt your chances slipping through the cracks of your hands and suddenly, the words fall off your lips amidst hundred other people waiting for the boarding announcement on the airport.

"hajime, you're not dying and neither am i. you're pursuing your dreams and if the situation calls for us to break up, i'm no one to refuse," while it seems like you're offering him some comfort to cope with the situation, those words are for yourself. you want to believe that he will come back to you, or you will find him again, even if it's after years, after the sweet memories that you share disappear over time; even if it's just one minute before you die, you want to believe you will meet him. after all, those will be the words that will convince you to look forward to every single day that is now going to pass without a glimpse of him.

"you know we don't have to do this," iwaizumi says it as a matter of fact. there's a stern look in his eyes, as if he has known you long enough to know the words that you mean and the ones you don't. sometimes, you think if you've given too much of yourself to him that now, he resembles a faint image of yourself in the mirror. it's like a single soul living in two different bodies, perhaps that's why, it feels like you're losing little pieces of yourself as you watched him prepare to leave for the States.

and so, you mirror the exact same look at him. "we do,"

"what if i fall in love with someone else? what if i come back with a family, a kid?" there's a hint of sorrow behind his hurtful words. thinking about iwaizumi next to someone else is painful, it's like taking a knife to your heart, but at the same time you know he doesn't mean his words.

just like iwaizumi, you've also known him long enough to know the words he means and the ones that he doesn't.

"i don't know, perhaps i'll congratulate you?" you manage to reply with a bitter laugh. "and also hate you for not inviting me to your marriage,"

you honestly don't know how you'd feel about iwaizumi starting a family with someone else. of course, you'd be happy for him, but will also carry a heart that aches at the site of him standing next to his other love, someone that's not you; and of course, you would still love him, even if you lose the rights to call him yours.

even though you're holding onto the words that you both will meet again, this could be the last time you see him. you know it already, you both have different lives, separate goals, and loving was never about staying next to each other even if it means giving up on what you've always wanted to do in life. it's surprising how you've both lived as strangers until you met each other and suddenly, your life without him seems impossible.

"will you be happy without me?" he asks.

"i'll try," you reply.

he nods, checking his watch before standing up and fixing his shirt. his eyes settle upon his backpack before travelling back to yours. "we still have twenty minutes, in case you want to change your decision,"

"i've decided,"

"okay," he breathes out, shooting you a smile while trying to choke in the tears that are starting to fall down his cheeks. "don't forget me," he adds a reminder, as if you're ever going to do that.

you met iwaizumi in middle school as a classmate, almost a stranger, someone you never properly talked to until he became the only student you knew beforehand in your class when highschool commenced. now, he is singlehandedly the most important person in your life. he's someone who loves you to moon and beyond, someone you've hurt many times but also is someone whose arms are like a second home to you.

you don't think anyone could compare to him, or the effect he has on you. no one can replace the moments you share with him, it's not like there's another person in the world who could make you feel the same way he did. you won't forget him because it's not like there's someone out there who can shadow his presence in your life.

like, there's not another iwaizumi hajime in this world because there's only one of him, and you're beyond lucky to share a few chapters of your life with a man who makes you feel like the happiest person alive.

with the boarding announcement going off, iwaizumi takes a last look at you. his eyes look the brightest they've ever been, overflowing with love so as to remind you that he loves you, and will continue to do so for years to come, that the distance that keeps on increasing between the two of you as he walks away doesn't mean anything because he'll always be there for you no matter what.

that you were the first for him and he is sure that you're also his last, and that you don't have to worry about him falling for someone else because even though he's going to a far away place, he's leaving his heart with you.

"hajime," you call, rushing to the line waiting in to pass through the metal detector. "i don't care if you come back with a wife, kid, or kids, or if you even come back. all i know is that i'm rooting for you, and i will continue to do so, and if you ever decide to come back, i'll be right here,"

you cup his face and plant a last kiss on his lips. "let's try to be happy without each other,"

and now, iwaizumi is twenty-seven, standing in front of flower wreaths at Narita International Airport with a white carnations, filtering through the small crowd that clutters the memorial of people who had passed away in an accident, fallen victims to the flight that went up in flames just a few minutes after it's take off.

iwaizumi spots your picture on the granite along with several others, placing the flowers amidst several others. a single tear rolls down his cheeks, "i'm a little late, aren't i, love?"

"what do you think is the right way to ask someone out?" osamu's sudden question draws out your attention from your english assignment.

you take a moment to think, and while he thinks you're sorting out the most appropriate answers to his question, you're lost looking the answer to just one question that's plaguing your mind : should you tell him, or not?

"uh, who is it for?" you settle with the conclusion that he's asking that question out of curiosity. after all, you both are at an age where romance gradually becomes an integral parts of almost everyone's life.

out of all the years that you've known osamu— which is for around seven years for now— there has been only one time when you've seen him pursuing someone, and that was your best friend in middle school; and like the good friend you were, you helped the two of them confess to each other. you would walk to school and back, watching them holding hands, make plans without you because they were dating and it was understandable. you didn't mind, not at all, for you weren't in love with him at that point.

looking back now, you wonder if things would've turned out different if you hadn't helped your friend, or if you had realised your feelings a bit earlier. back then, you found it amusing to watch two people in love act like idiots, not knowing it'd all come back to you with a much larger impact.

"someone i like," he replies in his classic monotonous voice, as if he couldn't care less about not telling you who he has a crush on. it's exactly how it was back in middle school. had it not been for your friend, you wouldn't have known she was the one osamu had been planning to ask out all along. "goes to the same university as us, might even be in your biochem class,"

and your mind traces over the image of every single person in your class, crossing out the names that don't seem to fit osamu's taste in romantic partners. it's not the first time you're doing this. in fact, you've gotten used to figuring out whether he would be interested in someone just by looking at them. it's something you've learnt as you got better at hiding your feelings.

you've known him long enough to know who he might date yet still, couldn't bring yourself to believe that you could possibly have a chance with him.

"well, i can't tell you if i don't know the person," something about you makes osamu believe that you're a cupid. you're good at reading people, welcoming, albeit not so good at reaching out to strangers, but you are likeable, more than likeable, actually.

he has seen you set people up, including himself, and excluding yourself. the reason why you're not interested in pursuing someone anymore is beyond his comprehension. you have your fair share of knowledge about relationships, have dated a couple of guys before giving up altogether. it's not like your relationships didn't work, but it always seemed as if you were better off without them.

even while dating, it looks like your eyes are looking for someone else while being in someone's arms.

he sighs, putting down his phone. "just tell me what you like, people aren't much different after all,"

"uh, well, i hate public confessions and people who confess through calls and texts," which stands true for most the people out there. public confessions are more of a show off and confessing through texts is just, not enough. "also, i like to stay at home or be at some cafe so like, arcades, amusement parks and places like those aren't up to my liking either,"

you notice the smile on his face, along with the dreamy eyes and make him look prettier than he already is. frankly, the idea of osamu doing everything you like to ask someone else out hurts more than it should. you're probably not the only persons with those likes and dislikes. you know you should be happy for him and the person he likes because in the end, osamu is everything you, or anyone, could ask for.

"what about flowers? lilacs?" he asks, getting back to his phone.

"what are you doing, congratulating someone on their graduation?" his lips instantly curve into a frown, and you know in his head, he's snickering about how he is not the best when it comes to picking flowers, and that you shouldn't make fun of him for this. "i'd say tulips, they're a better gifts for first dates and confessions,"

one day, back in first year of university, osamu asked you why you don't seek relationships anymore. thinking about it now, you never gave him an absolute answer.

on some days, the answer would be academics, other days, it would be sadness looming over your shoulders after watching your ex with someone else. sometimes, you would excuse it by saying it's a waste of time and when asked when you're drunk, you'd say it's because you already have someone in mind, someone who can't be yours, no matter how much you try.

on some days, you wonder if osamu ever thinks about all the answers, or excuses, you gave to his question. there are times when the worlds makes compels you to believe that osamu likes you back, but then you realise that if he did, he wouldn't have asked out others all this time. you did drop hints regarding your feelings for him, and he failed to catch on for he for too busy looking at everyone except you.

"i wonder why you don't date anymore," the question arises again, flooding all the memories back into your head.

"i did have someone i liked, but he likes someone else," and you realise you can't lie to him anymore. "so, i gave up," osamu finds it amusing how you say those words with a smile, and he finds it despairing knowing that now, you've simply learnt to live with pain while pretending to be okay.

he shoots you a comforting smile, "i hope that wouldn't be the case for me,"

"me too," and you smile back.

he gets off your bed, picking up his jacket while offering soft apologies for the state your bed is in because of him. sometimes, you feel like there should be a warning for everyone who dates him : caution, this man doesn't know how to keep the bed clean. there are nights when you go to sleep thinking about how you're probably the only one who can keep up with this habit of his, and then wake up realising that it wasn't a problem to anyone it now so, it wouldn't be in future either.

it's like oscillating between the possibility and impossibility of him and you, caressing your little heart with false hope.

"ah, what should i say while confessing?" he shoots another question, making you snicker in annoyance.

"c'mon 'samu, you're not asking someone out for the first time,"

"just tell me,"

and you allow yourself to get lost in thoughts again. for a brief second, you consider telling him to not confess. the reason? your feelings, but again, you and him aren't meant to be together in the first place. it's just like how the saying goes— cupids must not fall in love— and you did the forbidden, knowing it would hurt you ten folds more every time you tie his threads with someone that's not you.

"i don't know, just give the flowers and ask if they'd like to go out with you or something," he chimes a faint thank you before leaving your room, and then your apartment. this time, you don't walk up to the door to see him off, neither do you wish him good luck, and surprisingly, osamu doesn't seem to notice your minute absence either.

it's fine, you tell yourself, one of you has to start getting accustomed to the other's absence. while the process has already begun for you, you hope osamu gets used to it as well. you need him to stop reaching you out for relationship advices because you don't know how long you can compose yourself before shattering once again. you try to distract yourself with essays due next month or even further, reading chapters that haven't been taught in class, reading research papers; just anything that can keep your mind off osamu.

you don't want to think about him, or what he's doing. maybe, he's buying the flowers, making preparations or calling his crush and asking them to meet him at their favourite place. even better if his crush confessed while he has been preparing a proposal of his own, it would be cinematic. you don't want to think about him at all, but the more you try, the deeper he engraves inside your mind.

the evening rolls by with you still sitting at your study desk with a bunch of papers lying around a not one complete work. there are rain splatters on your windows and you hope the off-season showers haven't ruined his confession. you can't wish for the other person to like him back, so you just wish for his happiness; whatever makes him happy, even if it means pushing him away.

and when you manage to drag yourself to the kitchen to grab something to eat and make yourself feel better, the sound of your doorbell hits your ears. the rain hits harder, you muster up the energy to walk up to the door.

there's osamu standing with a love sick smile and slightly wet hair, along with rain splatters on his shirt, and the bouquet of tulips in his hand. "will you go out with me?"
