update on this i've been doing soul searching and i think the reason i like it so much is because it would never apply to me

im aromantic asexual and a cis girl

plus romance tropes i like are all rlly unrealistic: enemies to lovers, forbidden love / dangerous risky love, fast moving, among others

so yeah these are all things i could no way ever relate to

... but i still feel like i want and need them

im currently obsessed with only MLM romantic relationships in media

we actually need to stop splitting hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc in school by gender

because like..

assuming everyone is hetero ???

assuming everyone is allo ???

assuming everyone is cis ???

and it also divides people by gender which i hate. i hate the idea that boys and girls can't be friends unless their romantically interested in each other, or their relationship has to be light hearted and impersonal aaa

my robotics team which is supposed to be all LGBTQIA+ friendly and great and wonderful splits by gender for hotel rooms and its started to piss me off. might consider bringing it up but i kinda dont have power and am also might be too anxious to do it lol (but i swear ill try eventually)

(you know its bad when the aromantic asexual cis girl (me), who isnt even really affected myself, has problems with it)

wondering what fellow queer tumblr users think of this lgbtqia-related oppression lesson from school!

so the other day in school we had a quiz on different "i's" of oppression. there are 4 total (ideological, interpersonal, institutional, internalized), but here are definitions of the two that are relevant:

institutional: oppression from institutions (ex schools, companies, government); when ideology about superior groups gets embedded into organizations

internalized: beginning to believe in one's own inferiority; people oppressing themselves pretty much

so the prompt was: "An adult male has no personal photos at work. His coworker asks him why he doesn’t decorate his cubicle in order to make it more comfortable, but he fears losing his job and hides photos of his husband. What i of oppression is this?"

I thought this is institutional oppression because his workplace isn't a safe place for this guy to openly be queer. It's not that he feels ashamed of himself, he just wants to protect the security of his job.

however. the teacher's answer was that it is internalized oppression because he is creating these fears himself or smth

As someone who is aroallo I find it interesting (in a negative way) that everytime a non-canonically aspec character says something that either implies or states they aren't interested in romance, a relationship, or so on people default to headcanoning them as aroace, never aroallo, or just aro, or some other aromantic identity that isn't asexual.

Like... they didn't mention sex at all? They didn't say they weren't interested in that? It's fine to headcanon them as asexual but so many of these people are saying that whatever they said means they're canonically aroace which.. no it doesn't... once again they only mentioned romance how does that make them asexual? Why are you literally equating aromantism to asexuality? Why are you saying those things can't be separate? Those things can be separate, do they know that? Do they remember aroallo people exist?
