okay so no i have more to say about this –

because they ALREADY had the storyline of jamie being weary of damian’s impulses, but she ends up APPROVING of him in the end!! and his departure is a few episodes jamie left so we’ve lost 2 of the fly team in a short amount of time!!

scott knew from the beginning damian’s issues with authority and impulsivity, but scott said he’d be there to remind him if he ever went out of line. and damian did better under him because he respects scott.

now let’s talk about damian’s ptsd. he obviously has it and you would think it’d be mandated for him to go to therapy FROM THE BEGINNING HE SPENT FIVE (5) YEARS UNDERCOVER!!!!!! THE WHOLE ISSUE THAT MADE SCOTT LET HIM GO WAS BECAUSE OF HIS PTSD TAKING OVER

ugh i’m sorry but scott noticed and should’ve benched him, but instead had andre (who’s a coworker NOT a superior) “keep an eye” on him

if they really wanted his character’s arc to end, it would’ve been much more impactful if he did go through therapy, healed and felt he missed the undercover work.

idk i just really hated how they ended it– it seemed like they just gave up on him and his character. and it really sucks because it was with someone who had mental health issues

(p.s. his and vo’s relationship was so fast and it didn’t seem like anything came out of it?? like no lessons learned?? idk)

so scott is okay covering for jamie (in the first season) and doesn’t feel guilty, but can’t cover for damian??? and now he’s GONE ☹️

i think a lot about winona telling raylan that he’s the angriest man she’s ever known. because you don’t see it really in S1 at first. you see him get normal action man angry when things get stressful, like when he's in the midst of a literal shootout. but even then he's often got a cooler head than most would have in a life threatening situation.

but then you see him interact with his father.

raylan is fucking teeming with rage at every interaction from the get. he is grinding his teeth and twitchy. normally he can ignore people trying to get a rise out of him, make some wisecrack to brush it off, but he can’t help himself with arlo. he'll try to walk away, arlo will say something, and he can’t help himself, he’ll turn right around and spit back at him with as much venom as he can muster.

and then, when things are the nicest between them for that few episode stretch in S1. bo crowder asks arlo if he’ll kill his own fucking son.

the way he sounds so dead inside when he’s got his gun on arlo in his hotel room. when he realizes arlo's betrayal. telling him not to call him son. asking what happens next. and he kills the men who come in with no hesitation. that's when you really see it. that's when you really get what winona was saying.

angry. angry. angry. a pit of it.

do you ever think about what was like for winona in 2010 to finally get the chance to observe her debilitatingly emotionally repressed ex-husband in his native habitat — aka, smack in the middle of some fraught shenanigans with his former coal-mining buddy?

like, seeing how raylan deals with harlan (and boyd) must have answered so many unanswered questions about their marriage!!!!

what an incredible relief she must have felt to know once and for all that she wasn’t the fucked up one in that relationship.
