Happy Birthday!

(Platonic! Patrick Hockstetter x Reader)

(Imagine: It's your birthday and all Patrick got you was a $1 happy birthday card. Idea from shesasecondarycharacter)

"Well... It's something I guess." I didn't really know what to say other than that. I mean, what else could you say in this situation? I sucked at saying thanks to nice gifts, so how would I say thank you to this? I look at Patrick and back at the card, silently, as I study it, trying to find something to comment on- anything, just to break this awkward silence. I look around the card, noticing the little creases and bents at the edges of the corners, knowing he must've had this not too long ago. The card itself was simple. It said 'Happy Birthday' on the front and on the inside, it said 'Hope you have a Happy Birthday!', though, there was no sign of Patrick's writing aside from the messy signature, ink smearing around it. But that was it. No message, no picture, nothing. Nothing really from him other than his signature. I didn't really care to be honest, not getting the best gifts on my birthday was to be expected, but not knowing what to say was the hard part. Since I had nothing else to say I just looked back at Patrick. He just looked back at me blankly, expecting me to say something else. Instead I just kept looking back at him and broke out an awkward smile. He raised an eyebrow, obviously confused and asked, "What, you don't want it?" I shake my head and said, "No- no, it's not that, it's just.. uh..." I stop there, not knowing what else to say I just look back at the card hoping something would pop into my head. It wasn't until a minute passed by when Patrick then gasps and claps his hand over his mouth. He then asks in a dramatic tone, "Don't tell me, were you expecting something else?" I roll my eyes knowing he was just faking it. He stops his dramatic gestures and just gives me a smirk. He then said in a low voice, "Well sweetheart, after knowing me all these years, it shouldn't come to you as a shocker that this is all your getting from me." He then leans in slightly to tuck a strand behind my ear. "Especially, on your birthday." I just feel myself getting irritated and getting the feeling to swat his face away. He then pats my head and turned around slowly walking in front. He stops and looks behind to say, "Though since I do feel bad for you, I can get you something at the arcade if you'd like?" I perked up hearing this and nodded my head very quickly, rushing to get next to him. He chuckled and wrapped his arm around me. I feel a little happy at the gesture but still felt the urge to swat his hand away like I usually do. I decide against it and start to smile a little. I guess this won't be such a bad birthday after all.

Well, that's it! This is my first fanfic imagine and I hoped you like it. It would be super helpful if you gave some advice or some criticism, (not too harsh though, I'm fragile T_T). I did feel Patrick was a little ooc but I still feel like I did an okay job on his character. Thanks for reading, bye bye!
