Apologies for the sudden divergence from content theme –  As a small personal project, I made a quick four-page comic based on E Pauline Johnson! A Canadian poet and performer, she toured as both a woman of English and Mohawk nationality. For her dozens of poems regarding the Canadian landscape and its peoples, she helped ennoble the image of First Nations for thousands of readers! This poem, “Trail to Lillooet”, was inspired by her visit to Lillooet in British Columbia around 1903. I’d reckon that this is in part her decision to move to Vancouver after her retirement from the stage six years later. Sadly, she became gravely ill not long after due to breast cancer, and had to rely on friends to raise funds to continue publishing her work. She died March 1913, and had the largest yet funeral Vancouver had ever seen in Stanley Park only a few days later on her birthday.  I wanted to share this with y’all and celebrate this woman who deserves to be printed on our money!

The dress was designed, stitched, dyed , and embroidered by myself. It allows an amazing range of motion while still looking like a sweet noble girl. I owe my binding to @changelingeriecanada - without whom I would have a much harder time being the kind of nerd who runs around the woods for days at a time. Cap-gun is a percussion model by Denix. The less glamorous side of LARP costuming. I love when things get old and worn looking. A crisp perfect costume always looks out of place to me. However, after wearing this big soft tunic for years (and sometimes to bed because it's just that comfy) it's got it's fair share of holes. I've been darning them bit by bit. It takes forever but the sad truth is that this tedious task is stupid amounts of fun for me! Hard perfume locket.

I wanted a way to keep my peppermint halo on me while larping without risking my glass vial of it. I joined Gothic: The Lion Age this summer and since it’s a 3 day all in-character LARP, it’s not always safe to run back to my cabin for emergency meds.

I remembered seeing tutorials on filling lockets with hard perfume, so I made my own using Saje’s Peppermint Halo as my scent. I left it quite soft to allow for easy spreading and hopefully still get that cool tingle instead of just the aromatherapy. I maintain that the sensation is doing much of the work for soothing my head since it confuses the messed up vasodilation. Working theory… Whatever works, right?

The locket I found had plenty of space but it had a glass front instead of engraved metal, because apparently everything has to be shoddy fake steampunk these days instead of actual Victorian style. So I filled that glass front with a miniature portrait of my Character’s favourite pony from her home estate.

I have a small stock of finished bettas that are ready to sell and I need people willing to test shipping options with me! I have to work out the cost of sending them in poly-mailers through Canada Post without costing an arm and a leg.

My test price is $30 before shipping right now while I work out the costs of getting them point A to B.

I drafted out a new pattern for a betta plush and tried it out this weekend. I’m in love!
