Ooh how fun!
Aegon tried desperately to not think on whose blood was dripping from it. Of the way his little brother had screamed in agony as their attackers just laughed at the horror that had taken over Helaena.

Reflections on how Rhaenyra lost her beauty
It's amazing how persistently people shout that Rhaenyra has gained a lot of excess weight after three pregnancies and at the age of twenty she "lost all her beauty."
Alyssa Velaryon bore her first husband, Aenys, six children. But, attention, no one is saying that she has become ugly and unwanted. In fact, this lustful animal, Rogar, continued to sleep with her even after Alyssa was forty years old and everyone around her believed that she could no longer become pregnant.
Elinor Costayne was nineteen years old and had three children with her first husband. And she was still an attractive woman. She did not lose her beauty after the birth of three children.
Alysanne Targaryen gave birth to thirteen children. But the maesters tactfully keep silent about the impact that a lot pregnancies had on Alysanne’s appearance.
Daenaera Velaryon bore her husband five children in eight years. Daeron was born in 143, Baelor in 144, Daena in 145, Rhaena in 147, Elaena was born in 150. Daenaera gave birth to her three eldest children, one after the other, every year. And nowhere is it mentioned that Daenaera became ugly.
Elaena Targaryen gave birth to seven children, but it is mentioned that as she grew older she became even more beautiful than in her youth.
Rohanne of Tyrosh, wife of Daemon Blackfyre, gave birth more than seven times, but no one bothered to hound her and discuss her appearance.
Dyanna Dayne, Maekar Targaryen's wife, bore him six children, but again, her appearance is never mentioned or discussed.
Betha Blackwood bore five children with Aegon V and again there was no discussion of her appearance.
Rhaenyra is literally the only woman who has been harassed and abused in every possible way for her appearance. The appearance of all the other women who often gave birth to children did not turn them into the hulking monsters that some fans believe Rhaenyra to be, or were not mentioned at all by the maesters. Do you know why?
All of them were either consorts of kings or were not such important political figures. But at the request of the king, Rhaenyra went against the traditions of Westeros and became the first woman to become queen in her own right, and not as a consort. Rhaenyra's only sin was that she was a woman who had power that no other woman in Westeros had. Rhaenyra never asked her father to make her his heir, but she accepted the king's will and fought for what was rightfully hers. But we all read how the patriarchal inhabitants of Westeros and the Cetadelle reacted to this. I'm willing to bet money that if Rhaenyra had not been Viserys's heir, then in the chronicles the courtiers would continue to talk about her as a hot beauty.
It's really funny that Mushroom writes that Rhaenyra was jealous of Alicent's appearance, but Alicent herself was not as beautiful as her daughter Helaena, and Helaena was described as not as bright and beautiful as most Targaryens, and Rhaenyra as a teenager was one of the most beautiful maidens Westeros. And do you really believe that because Rhaenyra gave birth to three sons, she instantly went from hot Valyrian beauty to ugly one?

I know I promised a snippet... But how about a whole chapter?
1 or 2!
(If both ill post my own snippet)
1. Waiting
I was gonna share the beginning of this chapter... but when I wrote 100 words, I kept going and I finished this bit. Gotta spread the pain I guess? This isn't even the angstiest part in my opinion. ^^'
Rhaenyra's eyes widened as she read the note. The king furrowed his brow. She looked up, but not at him. Her gaze snapped immediately to the queen. Aemond held his breath "Verify this," Rhaenyra turned to Laenor, showing him the letter, "Fly to Tyrosh now." Her husband paled as she whispered, voice so quiet Aemond could just make our the words, "Identify the body and... and bring him home." With a swift not, Laenor sprinted from the room. He didn't even wait for the king's dismissal. Not that he needed it. The king had probably heard her whisper too. His face fell as tears slid down his daughter's face. Rhaenyra fisted her hands in her skirt as she turned back to the queen. Aemond pursed his lips. His mother started shaking her head. She stepped back as Rhaenyra stepped forward. The letter crushed in Rhaenyra's hand, wrinkled paper had been trapped between her hand and the fabric of her dress. She tried to flatten out again, as she approached. "Lord Corlys sent word from the Stepstones," Rhaenyra cleared her throat, taking another step. She paused beside him. The weakest smile he'd ever seen flashed across her face as she squeezed his shoulder. Looking at her, one eye wide and the other covered by an eyepatch, Aemond nodded mutely, urging her forward even as his mother began to tremble. "Sunfyre..." Rhaenyra's breath hitched as she leveled her eyes on the queen, "Sunfyre was seen over Tyrosh. Distraught and writhing in pain." "Stop," his mother whispered, throat bobbing. She shook her head, "You... you're lying." Rhaenyra pursed her lips. His sister took a breath, eyes squeezing shut. "I wish I were, your grace." His mother doubled over, shrieking as Rhaenyra finished, "They found a body, in Aegon's room."
2. Good Dad Viserys
You're gonna end up reading this entire fic in snippets before I finally finish at this point. ^^' Also it's kinda soft... which makes up for the other snippet. Right?
"Can I go back to sleep now?" Aegon grumbled, eyes already squeezing shut as he sprawled out. An arm bumped against Viserys and he blinked. "You were sleeping out here?!" Viserys hissed and Aegon's eyes snapped open. He pursed his lips. Viserys arched a brow. His tone sharped as he asked again, "Aegon... where you sleeping out here?" His tiny nod was accompanied by a small whimper, "Don't tell mother~" Hands grabbed for his sleeve, tugging uselessly as Aegon failed to get a proper grip. "Your mother is the least of my concerns at the moment," Viserys huffed and his son went stiff as he snapped his cane against the stone, "Ser Harrold! See that the other children are not unsupervised!" It took a few moments, with his quick reprimand to the kingsguard that were summoned for leaving a royal child unprotected, but Viserys realized the tugging at his sleeve had stopped. The grip in his sleeve had grown tight as his son sat stiffly beside him. He looked back at Aegon to find the boy had gone entirely still. His fingers trembling. Viserys sighed and reached a hand out, brushing the boy's hair away from his face, "You are not in trouble, Aegon." At least not for this. The boy had not left the reception, after all. It was his guard who would need to answer for this. "I'm always in trouble," Aegon grumbled, leaning in to his touch. Viserys smiled as the boy shifted closer. His lashes fluttered, long, like his mother's. "In this instance," Viserys chuckled, cupping his cheek to turn his head, "You are not in trouble." He arched a brow towards Aegon's abandoned goblet, his nest of wine bottles and the puddle of sick a crawl away from them. "I do have some concerns, however."

Just found your work and loved it! Can’t wait for update
Ok so I promise I haven't just disappeared! I just did a summer course for uni and then got obsessed with Assassins Creed again and then got a new puppy and then uni started again...
Anyway! As a way to show that I have not just abandoned my fics and that I have been working on them - here is a snippet from the start of chapter 5 of Whats a Coup Without a King?
It seemed that becoming Queen had done little to temper Rhaenyras long standing penchant for mischief, nor her apparent desire to drive Ser Harrold into an early grave.
It had also had little success, much to Daemons amusement, in tempering the Dowager Queens own fury. While it took everything Laena had to not fall asleep on her husbands shoulder, the events of the days having taken their toll, Alicent seemed to face no such limitations. The elder woman had seemed to barely notice their arrival, too busy pacing in front of the doors leading to the main courtyard and muttering to herself to care for their company.
Admittedly, Laena probably would have been every bit as angry if she had entrusted her daughter to Rhaenyras care and had then been awoken in the middle of the night to the news that they had left both the Red Keep and their Kingsguard behind.  But Laena would trust Rhaenyra with her life, had already entrusted pieces of her heart to her. She had known since the moment her girls were born that Rhaenyra would protect them as her own simply because they were kin. She was not Alicent, for Laena had never held any reason, been given any cause, to suggest that her children were anything but loved by their aunt.  Arguably, Alicent should have even more trust in Rhaenyra than Laena, should be able to put her faith in not only the bonds of blood but the bonds of a shared childhood. But the abrupt ending of that childhood had left its marks and Laena knew that it was not just the Dowager Queens childhood fear of dragons that was fuelling this fervent anger and worry.
The poison whispered in her ears had left deep, fearful wounds in Alicent, scars poised to split open again at any moment. Such long held fears, such horrific worries, they did not simply go away in a matter of weeks, no matter what words were said, what reassurances were given.

the thing about tv!sally. the thing is. is that the flashbacks are so clearly from her perspective.
the reason people are claiming that sally would never yell at percy like in ep7 or that she would never show frustration with her child is that in the books -- and the beginning of the show -- we only ever see sally from percy's perspective. and in his eyes? she is an angel, the perfect mother who could never do anything wrong.
but the flashbacks in ep7 are not from percy's perspective, they're from sally's. and she remembers every bit of the difficulties and the frustrations and the almost insurmountable challenges that come with raising a neurodivergent child as a poor single mom, let alone raising a powerful demigod who attracts epic monsters that want to kill him. so yes, sally is, arguably, more 'human' in the show than the books -- because of course she is, when she isn't only ever seen through the eyes of her ride or die son.
I will defend book and tv sally jackson until my last breath and after

Ok so first chapters out… Can I see that response?? Bc i have questions.
For MoS Au - how powerful is each empire individually and then each alliance?
Bc I understand if Fwip and Sausage r messing with Jimmy as one ruler but he has the Ocean Alliance? And from what you’ve said it seems like those kingdoms r powerhouses? Especially Lizzie and the Ocean Empire bc they seem to be good at the whole war/conquering stuffs.
Just wondering if there’s something i’m missing or if Fwip and Sausage r just unaware of that.
So I typed out a whole answer to this and then realized that a lot of it is going to be covered in the first actual fic of the series which, in a bit of good news, I'm in the process of editing the first chapter and it will be posted before the new year. (EDIT: probably not before the new year but very, very soon after)
That being said, I've saved the answer I typed, after you've read the first chapter, come back here and ask follow up questions and I can use that to answer them. Does that sound good?
(I can also just post the response if you would rather)

suddenly struck with thoughts about the devastating concept of Jason Todd
because he was good. because he had a bleeding heart despite every reason not to. he loved school and was good at it. he was the first to be adopted, with little pretense of guardianship. he did everything he could to be a perfect Robin and live up to an impossible ideal. he only ever wanted Bruce and Dick to like him.
because he met Bruce in the same place and on the same day that Bruce's parents died--the single defining moment of Batman's existence. and he made Batman laugh. he hit the Dark Knight, Terror of Gotham, with a tire iron. he wasn't afraid of the man who turned fear into a weapon.
because he couldn't save his mother from herself, but he tried. because he was too good not to try and save the woman who gave him up. too good to play the Joker's game. the crowbar didn't kill him, the bomb did. he died knowing he wouldn't make it and tried anyway. he died a hero.
because other Robins have died, but none of them put an irrevocable tear in the mythos of Batman. because Jason Todd always dies, in every universe. he dies for the sins of his father. he was put to death by popular vote, sacrificed by the crowd. doomed by the narrative and doomed by the audience. the boy who only ever tried to prove he was good enough--wasn't good enough.
because he has every reason to be angry. because he didn't ask to be murdered, didn't ask to be brought back, and when he did everyone acted like he was better off dead. Bruce tried to kill him and nearly succeeded. he's blamed for his own death and blamed for his resurrection. he can never come home because the house is haunted by his own ghost.
because he's been the hero, the victim, and the villain. because his family and his writers and his universe don't know what to make of him. they don't know how to look his tragedy in the eye. and how can you?
it hurts to look at the hero who cannot be good enough, the victim who will only ever be angry, the villain who can sometimes be right. the audience hates to feel complicit and, in this exceptional case, they are.
