While bullying doesn’t cause suicide, a stressful environment and persistent, emotional victimization can increase a person’s risk of suicide. Together, we can create awareness about the dangers of bullying and give emotional support to those who may be contemplating suicide. If you or someone you know is in an emotional distress or suicidal crisis, please call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

On that last note – here is a comic I actually did for a magazine called Inheritance. It was the first time I had someone specifically ask for a comic about mental illness and depression, so it was a really exciting project for me.
Thank you to everyone who’s still following this tumblr – thank you for being patient! I’m still figuring out my direction as a small artist/human so I’m always guilty about not giving the comics that I promise. You’ve all been so encouraging along the way.

How to Develop Self-Compassion
1. Acknowledge to yourself that you’re having a hard time. 2. Don’t beat yourself up for struggling. 3. Let go of any tendencies towards perfectionism. 4. Ask for support from those who care about you. 5. Make sure you enforce healthy boundaries with others. 6. Drop some commitments, and give yourself more space. 7. Take time to relax, and do the things you like. 8. Learn how to enjoy, and benefit from, solitude.

It is okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth. Even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then. In fact, struggle is a sure sign to them that they are expanding; it is their indication of real and important progress. The only one who doesn’t struggle is the one who doesn’t grow. So if you are struggling right now, see it as a terrific sign — and celebrate your struggle.

7 Tips for Overcoming Feelings of Inadequacy
1. Remind yourself that you are not who other people think or say you are.
2. Remind yourself that everybody makes mistakes at times, has areas of weakness, and things they want to change.
3. Remind yourself of ways in which you’ve grown and changed with time. You’re not who you once were - so celebrate how far you’ve come.
4. Also, the ending isn’t written and the future isn’t fixed. You’re free to change your image, and an old identity.
5. Identify the lies you have believed about yourself – and work on changing them so they’re more accurate and true. Also, don’t reinforce those lies by acting like you think they’re true.
6. Remember that your feelings are not the same as facts. Don’t live based on your feelings … as that will keep you trapped.
7. Hang out with those who see, and who appreciate, your worth. And take their words to heart, and let them help to build you up.
