"i'm sorry, what were we talking about?" with any of the septic boys
hi im sorry i forgot about this for like a week
â...rik? Helloo?âÂ
The doctor blinked slowly, becoming acutely aware of something waving in front of his face. Gradually, his eyes came back into focus, just as something smacked into his forehead.
âHenrik!â Chase had suddenly appeared in front of him, grinning mischieviously. âDude, you were super zoned out.â
Henrik picked his glasses off his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. âIâm sorry, what were we talking about?â
The smile faded from his brotherâs face, replaced with a look of confusion.
âDoc, I just got here. Were you talking to someone?â
âI...no, I donât think so. I was...â he trailed off. It was unusual for Henrik to lose his concentration, and even rarer for him to lose his thoughts. He shook his head, as if to shake his memory loose.
Chase tapped his brother on the forehead once more. âHello?â He asked. âThis thing on?â
Henrik chucked, swatting Chaseâs hand away. âNever mind, I am sure it was unimportant if I forgot. Was there something you needed?â

How about "911? I'd like to report a loser." With Jackie and someone else of your choice?
It had become increasingly rare for Jackie to get a full nightâs worth of sleep. Tonight, it seemed, wouldnât be any different. Heâd been tossing and turning in the dark for what had felt like days. Sleep was close, he could almost see it coming. His eyelids finally fluttered shut, when a loud noise caused him to bolt out of his bed. Jackie struggled to untangle himself from his web of blankets, nearly tripping down the stairs. He raced into the kitchen, where he assumed the noise had come from, where a figure was stumbling through their cabinets with only the moon to guide them. The hero grabbed the nearest object to use as a weapon, and flicked on the light, causing himself and the mystery man to wince at the sudden brightness.
âOw, dude! What gives?â A familiar voice whined.
As Jackieâs eyes adjusted to the light, he realized they were not the victims of a robbery like he had thought. Standing in the middle of the kitchen, with a bottle tucked under one arm and a bag of crisps in the other, was Chase.Â
With a sigh, Jackie pantomimed picking up the phone. â911? Iâd like to report a loser.â
Frowning, Chase launched a handful of the potato snack at his brother. âUh, yeah, 911? Iâd like to report an idiot.â He tilted his chin at the spatula in Jackieâs hand, holding back a laugh.
âHey!â Jackie chuckled, waving the utensil in Chaseâs direction. âI had to make do with what I could grab. I thought you were a burglar!âÂ
âIf stealing Henrikâs crisps count as theft, then I am a burglar!âÂ
The pair broke out into laughter, knowing that Henrik would kill them if he figured out they were the ones who finished off his âspecial expensive German crispsâ as he called them. Chase cracked a goofy smile, and Jackie smacked his arm for being too loud. Jackie may not have been able to sleep, but that didnât mean no one else was trying to sleep.

Chapter 1 is going to come down (temporarily)
I was happy with it at the time but I am not happy with it now, and I donât have the time to edit it or give it the attention it deserves currently due to school.
I am going to rework it and work on the next two or so chapters before I repost it. I was hoping to have updates to this story more consistently, but school has proven to be a lot of work this semester so the update likely wonât make it back for a couple months.
However, I donât want to leave you without content (as the main story of chapter one likely wonât change significantly), so until I have more of a direction for the remake I will keep it where it is.
Thank you to anyone who read the current/old version of chapter one, and remember: likes, reblogs and feedback are always appreciated, but never expected.

Chapter One
Months had gone by since the twins had seen their doppelganger on the news, and the two had made little progress on locating the man known as âjacksepticeye.â Every time it felt like theyâd made some progress, something would send them back to square one. At one point, Marvin was fully prepared to teleport them to the Youtuberâs house, but on the day they had prepared to go, Jack had gone to America for some convention, and the magician didnât trust himself to get them that far. The next time they were ready, Marvâs spell backfired, nearly sending him into a catatonic state. He had used so much of his energy just to keep himself conscious, when the next opportunity to find Jack arose, the brothers had decided to do it the old fashioned way.
âMarvin!â Jackie yelled up to the apartment from the street below. âBro, letâs go! Weâre gonna miss our train!â
He was met with silence, but he assumed his brother was already on his way down. Jackie lingered at the doorstep a minute longer, waiting for Marv to swing the door open, before starting down the street towards the station. With each footfall, he heard the distinct crunch of fallen leaves, and with each snap he grew more and more aware that he was alone. Marvin, as usual, had fallen behind, and Jackie was eager to start their journey. He made it as far as the corner, when he heard a crackle from behind him. Instinctively, he turned and swung out his leg. He felt the tip of his sneaker graze something, before it caught in someoneâs hand.
Marvin let out a sharp breath. With his free hand, he brushed the edge of his nose, wiping away the muck that Jackieâs shoe had left behind.
âYour reflexes are great, but youâve gotta work on your intuition, bud.â
Jackie pulled his foot free from his brotherâs grip, causing him to stumble backwards. âI knew it was you,â he pouted, his eyes narrowed. âI was just testing your reflexes.â
The two started to bicker, and Marvin raised his hand, ready to strike. The hero easily dodged his brotherâs fist, chuckling at the attempt. The smaller brother huffed, turning his chin up in defeat. A breeze blew past them, carrying with it a familiar sound Marvin could barely recognize. He shuddered, and tried to shake the feeling it had brought. Above them, the sky opened up, unleashing a torrent of rain. With nothing to keep them dry, the pair started to jog toward the train station. By the time they arrived, the rain had lessened, and their train had begun to board. They managed to slip between the doors just before they shut, and the train let out a sharp whistle. Their journey was off to a strange start, and unbeknownst to them, it would be far from a simple one.
~
Lights off, camera off, game saved.Â
Jack leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms towards the ceiling. His day had been ordinary, the majority of it spent recording videos for his channel. As usual, he had forgotten to eat since breakfast. His stomach growled knowingly as he took out his phone, placing an order for his typical late-night craving.Â
Turning his attention back to his computer, Jack decided it was time to check his social media accounts. Tumblr was his first stop, full of the usual kind hearted posts and talented artwork, and then on to Twitter. His timeline was cluttered with various news outlets and fans responding to his most recent announcement: âYouTube Sensation Jacksepticeye Denies Rumors He Is Londonâs Masked Hero.â
A few months ago, a man in a red hood had been spotted in London, leaving petty criminals beaten and tied up in alleys. Onlookers had managed to occasionally capture grainy photos and video of the vigilante, who the internet thought bore a resemblance to Jack. The Youtuber had realized quickly that he had to make a statement, disavowing the rumors and clearing the air. He couldnât afford to have any more negative associations with his brand, so he addressed it the only way he knew how: with a video.Â
It had been generally well received, with most of the comments positive. Fans had flocked to his support, claiming that they knew Jack would never hurt anyone. Plus, as some so eagerly pointed out, Jack was in Brighton, a good enough distance away from London that he couldnât be popping back and forth too quickly. A few statements stuck out at him, the kind of hateful comments that would usually put him in a bad mood, but this time was different. He knew he wasnât secretly patrolling the streets of London, so he couldnât be bothered by those who claimed he was lying. His mind started to drift, wondering how someone who looked so similar to him could be so nearby, when his thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell.
âThat was quick,â he thought. Jack grabbed his wallet off the desk, and made his way to the door. Excitedly, he swung it open, ready to stuff his face with hot, gooey, greasy pizza. Unfortunately, waiting on the other side was not his cheesy delight. He felt the smile slip from his face, quickly replaced by a look of bewilderment. Standing in front of him were two identical young men. Identical to each other, and identical to him.Â
The longer Jack stood there, the more differences he started to pick out. The one on the right was taller than the other, with coffee-colored hair cropped short on the sides, and the tips peeked out from underneath a grey beanie. His eyes were almost an electric blue, hidden behind a pair of rectangular glasses. He had a fresh cut over his eyebrow, the crimson color a stark contrast to his warm ivory skin. Aside from his height, nothing about him really stood out.Â
On his left was the shorter of the two, whose hair was dyed a dyed a brilliant green. The roots of his hair were the color of chocolate, either untouched by the dye or had simply faded with time. It had been pulled into a loose bun, with strands that escaped falling just above his shoulders. His eyes were similar to Jackâs, a cold greyish-blue that seemingly sparkled in the dark. His figure was distinctly opposite to his partnerâs, a much slimmer, willowy shape that suited his posture. His long coat hung awkwardly off his shoulders, and the collar was turned up to block the wind.Â
Jack couldâve stayed there all night deciding what made each of the three of them unique, but there was the one fact that none of them could ignore: looking at each other was like looking in a mirror. The silence continued for what felt like hours, waiting for one of them to speak up,Â
âYouâre not pizza.â Jack had finally regained his composure.
The shorter of the two let out a breath. âAnd youâre not us, and yet you have our face,â he replied, pushing his way into the house.
Jack turned on his heel, grabbing the intruder by his shoulder. âH-hey hold on a minute! You canât just come in here uninvited!â He reached out to pull him back, but his body felt like it had been frozen in place. The man turned to face him, his eyes now glowing a bright emerald color. Jack couldâve sworn theyâd been blue before. From behind, the taller one sighed, then lifted Jack by his shoulders like he was weightless. He heard the door click shut behind them. He could feel his heart pounding in his ears as the tall stranger carried him into the living room, setting him down gently onto the couch. Slowly, his arms started to loosen, and he noticed that the shorter one of the pair had sprawled out across his favorite armchair. The other was perched awkwardly on the edge of the couch, watching Jack with an intense fascination.
âWho are you?â Jack demanded once his mouth could move again.
âIâm Jackie, and thatâs my brother Marvin,â the taller one spoke quickly. âThis was all his idea. He wanted to barge in here so you couldnât turn us away I just wanted to talk to you like normal people but no, this drama queen had to do it the illegal way!â
The shorter one, Marvin, sat up and pointed an accusatory finger at his brother. âIf we had done it your way,â he hissed, âweâd still be standing at the door like two idiots! Who in their right mind would just let two strangers into their house?!â
They started to argue, their voices slowly growing in volume, before Jack stood up, interrupting their bickering.
âBoth of you, shut up! You still havenât really answered my question: who are you? Why are you in my house?â
âOh right, yeah,â Jackie laughed awkwardly, scratching at his head. âMarv saw you on the news and thought you were me! Which is weird, since we donât have any other family, and you look like us.â
Marvin rose to his feet, brushing his hands off on his tattered jeans. âYeah, thatâs about it. Now weâre here to get answers.â
âAnswers to what?â
Marvin started to pace the room, his feet barely making a sound as they hit the ground. âOh, just some simple questions. Like, where were you born, whatâs your real name, are you under the influence of any demons, who are your parents?â
âWait, what was that middle one?âÂ
âDemons. Do you know any?â
Both Jack and Jackie turned to look at Marvin, the same expression of confusion on their faces.
âMarv, why the hell are you asking him about demons?!â Jackie exclaimed, giving his brother a puzzled look.
Marvin ignored the heroâs inquiry, and took a step closer to Jack. His duplicate flinched as he approached, watching as Marvâs hands started to spark. His eyes shone in the darkness, and Jack sat motionless, watching as his copy circled. He blinked, and suddenly, Marvin was inches away from his face.
âI will ask you again: do you know any demons?â
Jack swallowed, struggling to find his voice. âN-no, what the hell?â He finally managed.
The answer he had produced did not satisfy the magicianâs curiosity. In the blink of an eye, a flame leapt up in Marvinâs hand. Jack could feel the heat on his face, beads of sweat starting to roll down his forehead. Marvin cleared his throat.
âJack, I donât know how else to ask you. Where is the demon?!â His eyes, this time the color of murky water, radiating an emotion Jack couldnât quite identify.
âThere is no demon! What the hell! Demons donât exist!â Jack had had enough of the interrogation, though his voice was torn between fear and outrage.
Apparently, his response had finally been correct. The fire in Marvinâs hand dissipated as quickly as it had appeared. He held it out to Jack in surrender.
âSorry, we had to be sure.â
Jackâs face was blank, still perplexed by the events that had quickly spiraled out of his control. âYou had fire. In your hand.â
Marvin nodded.
âAnd...he picked me up like I was made of air...!â
Jackie nodded.
âSo, can I ask a question now?âÂ
The twins nodded.
Jack cleared his throat. âI guess what I want to know is, what are you?â
The pair exchanged a glance, deciding how to explain themselves. Before Marvin could stop him, Jackie pulled his mask out of his pocket and set it on the table.
âIâm Jackieboy Man.â
âAnd Iäžâ Marvin flicked his wrist, as a cat-shaped mask started to cover his faceäž âam Marvin. Just Marvin. Iâm not fancy like Jackie-boy here.
Jackâs eyes flicked back and forth between the two, before he doubled over with laughter. His eyes began to water, and he wiped the tears away with the back of his hand.
âWe share....a face...â He managed between fits of laughter. âBut we clearly donât share creativity. What kind of name is âJackieboy Manâ?â
âI thought it was cool,â Jackie mumbled, crossing his arms defensively.
âSure, itâs cool if you donât give a shit about having a secret identity! You need a better name, like based on what you can do or something. What can you do?â
Jackie shrugged. âIâm fast and strong, and sometimes lightning shoots out of me. Marvâs really the cool one, if you ask me.â
âNo one did ask you,â Marvin grumbled from the corner. He opened his mouth to say something sassy, when Jack interrupted his thoughts.
âHow old are you guys?â He asked.
âWeâre 25.â
âSo youâre four years younger than me...â Jack scratched absentmindedly at his beard.Â
â...and?â Marvin prompted, annoyance in his voice.
âYour age lines up with Chaseâs story, and with mine.â
âWho?â
From around the corner, a familiar face poked out.
âYo, whatâs up guys?â He grinned, tipping his hat in a mock salute. âNameâs Chase. Pleased to meet ya, bros!â

From The Ashes - Prologue
Very few things surprised Marvin anymore. For as long as he could remember, nothing had gone as he had hoped, and today was no different. From the second he woke up, something felt unbalanced, but the feeling was so faint, he didnât pay it much attention. Instead, he went about his morning like usual. Coffee, a quick breakfast, see if Jackie was home (he wasnât), then check the news to make sure his brother hadnât done anything stupid. Setting his coffee down on the table, Marvin flipped on the television, browsing the channels until a familiar face caught his eye. He watched in shock as his twin, who he had tried so hard to keep out of the publicâs focus, stood in front of a camera and announced his presence to the world. He was aghast, torn between being furious at his brother and being afraid for his safety. He contemplated all the ways he would absolutely murder Jackie for his idiocy, when the idiot himself walked into their apartment.
âMarv!â He whined, slamming the door behind him. âI need coffee! Do we have any left?â
Before the hero could blink, he found himself face to face with his brother.
âHow could you be so dumb?!â Marvin hissed, grabbing a fistful of Jackieâs suit. âWe have to keep you secret! How could you forget?â
Marvin looked up at his brother, watching as confusion swirling through his pale blue eyes. He was rarely angry, but when he was, he knew Jackie could feel the rage radiating off of him.Â
âWhat are you talking about?â
Without breaking eye contact, Marvin jabbed his finger at the television. âTell me you didnât reveal yourself on live TV!â
Jackie freed himself effortlessly from his brotherâs grasp, and made his way towards the television. On the screen, he watched as his face spoke to the world.
âI am not the masked hero,â his reflection promised. âI am not who you think I am.â
At this point, Jackie was baffled. Glancing around the screen, he noticed the news ticker scrolled to a new line: Jacksepticeye speaks out against rumors that he is the hooded vigilante.Â
âItâs not me,â Jackie whispered, pointing at the name. While he was glued to the program, Marvin had snuck up behind him.
âItâs not you? Then how does he have our face?â
âI donât know.â
They couldnât take their eyes off the screen. They had always had so many questions about why they were the way they were, and now, they were one step closer to an answer.
Now, all they had to do was find him.
