guys I need you to understand some things about the rewrite:

the reason why it got called a "rewrite" in the first place was that the core idea I intended was the same, and most importantly I really liked the idea of using that specific song and its lyrics. Now, I stopped writing LF in the first place cause I lost sight of the core idea (I didn't plan it out) and fucked up pacing and build-up, and also the new fic isn't gonna be called "losing face" for obvious reasons, so altogether it will be a completely stand-alone fic with a very similar vibe, but with an actual, properly planned out story to tell (the summary itself is like over 3k words and that's just the main storyline planned out)

While it'll probably have less chapters than LF would have had, the chapters so far are significantly longer - one of the reasons why it's taking me so much longer, I mean, hell, look at the word count comparison of both of the first chapters (left side is LF, right side is the new fic):

idk what the tldr is i guess the lesson is that your first fanfiction ever might give you an impression that 800 words is a decent length and then you learn more and at some point write a smutty chapter that's nearly 10x that length or something y'know?

(as in obviously longer =/= better but you know what I mean - my perspective is very different now)

honestly I'm mostly indifferent ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

it's not for me, but like I've got no particularly strong feelings either way. I can absolutely see a lot of reasons for that reading - it all does fit, so it's not a matter of there being no justification, but more so just personally I just don't hold that headcanon

the thing with either of them being trans is that like, I am for some reason oddly attached to Quackity being specifically and strictly a man who's into men, or at the very least masc individuals - maybe it's cause I just started off with that "hc" (I mean it is kinda pretty heavily canon - I don't recall him ever flirting with a woman). Wil being mtf would obviously make all of that very complicated - each time I start to think about it I can't help but think if 1. is there any way for Q to still be into Wil without that invalidating Wil's gender identity 2. is there any way for Q - a gay man - to have feelings for a woman that doesn't invalidate his sexual identity Like, exceptions happen, but mm idk It's obvioulsy completely different if you hc Q as pan/bi/homoflexible/whatever else, but yeah personally I'm just really attached to the idea of Q being strictly homosexual

When it comes to the nonbinary umbrella it's kinda similar (with both being amab) - with Wil it works i'd say, there isn't as much of a conflict with Quackity's sexuality, but again, I'm mostly indifferent and you do you; with Q it just kinda doesn't quite fit for me - idk he just has relatively binary man vibes imo

in regards to other combinations of one/both of them being trans: > Wil's ftm - yeah sure I'm down with that, good for him, I don't actively hc that but like yeah no conflict there, plus I guess it'd explain how he had Fundy - though fantasy mpreg makes it so much funnier > Q's mtf - idk i just don't feel it in the slightest. Especially considering things like the fact that he's short, has longer hair, is/used to be a sex worker (with presumably male clients), is heavily (and at the very least primarily, if not exclusively) into men, canonically has a big ass, etc, so it just really doesn't sit right with me to then have him be mtf - I just want some more representation of those characteristics in men, y'know? > Q's ftm - ok so, it fits. And I really really hate that it fits. It would make so much sense but holy fuck guys I cannot handle that ok - I'm ftm, and if he's cis then I can like at least partially remove myself from all of that... but if he's ftm then holy fucking shit everything just hits so much harder like guys I'm not strong enough to handle the pain of seeing this much of myself in him ok I will simply collapse, like him being seen as an object and sexualised and put down and belittled and pressured to be all submissive and shit just hits so completely different if you see it through the lenses of him being ftm and let me fucking tell you I am NOT ready for the breakdown thinking about it and how similar and in some cases identical to my own experiences it all is would cause m > ANYWAY with them both being trans it's just a combination of my previous thoughts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all my drawings and writing and headcanons etc are strictly and exclusively about characters, obviously, but like, i don't know cause the tags that don't include 'c!' are more niche and less 'accessible', if that makes sense, but then i don't want to alienate people who blocked the "wilbur soot" tag, cause it's very understandable

Additionally it does seem that people are reclaiming the '#wilbur soot' tag? I'm not actively on it though so I'm not sure

Ok, so, headcanon again.

Wilbur and Quackity never before got to the third base. Not in Pogtopia, not in Las Nevadas. They've been making out quite a bit, and at that point they both know they're gonna end up sleeping together soon. The problem is, during that time, Wilbur already figured out he's a massive bottom. He's definitely gonna bottom. And he's *worried*.

He never did that, he knows it can hurt quite a bit, he doesn't know how it'll feel and if he'll enjoy it. He's anxious as hell, but has some pride left and will not share those worries with Quackity (don't do what he does, not healthy, he isn't mentally healthy).

It finally gets to it, Wilbur is shaking but with his revived body it's not that out of the ordinary. Quackity undresses.

Quackity is trans. Never had bottom surgery. Wilbur did not figure it out before because he's extremely oblivious.

He blanks so hard that Quackity finally notices, and the night continues with lots of talking, and soft touching, figuring it out the way it works for both of them.

That's it.

im the psychotic wilbur anon (forgot to note im paranoid schitzo and i see myself so much in him ANYWAYS) BUT CWILBUR BPD FOR THE WORLD. (< ALSO BPD.) hottest take is that him and quackity are bpd4bpd and a huge part of their relationship is a learning curve figuring out how to navigate communication with each other and each others splits and such. i also think that wilbur tends to black split on HIMSELF more often, and quackity tends to black split on OTHERS more often. i also think that wilbur white splitting on quackity would be a whole nother thing they have to deal with, with wilbur suddenly being like "you are literally god to me and the only person who loves and cares about and understands me you are the greatest human being alive please let me worship you i love you so much" and quackity just being like "woag dude" LIKE. also im so so so for real wilbur has so much paranoid schitzo swag i dont know how to explain that this man is fucking TEXTBOOK paranoia and he has so many paranoid anxiety habits that make me feel insane. i think he always makes sure to lock the door and check the lock like six times when he comes home and he cant sleep at night if hes alone in the house so he barely slept in paradise and didnt sleep right until he moved in with quackity, i think he has really severe paranoia about imposters and intruders and also barely slept and was constantly on high alert in pogtopia and he could only really sleep when quackity visited or if tommy or technoblade shared a mat with him, i think he also has delusions of grandeur that he has to deal with a lot and reality checking him can be really dangerous especially coupled with his bpd because he then SNAPS to black splitting on himself so hard he makes himself sick, ohhhh cwilbur my sickly man i adore you so sorry for being insane in your inbox

The first ask in question

(Ok so as a disclaimer obviously headcanons are personal and there's no wrong ones and you're valid for reading it this way)

With Wilbur I very much agree, but I don't see bpd in Quackity tbh. It more so looks like ADHD alongside shit like abandonment issues, being invalidated his entire life, being generally overworked and having no healthy outlet for his feelings, having trouble identifying said feelings in the first place, etc - all of which are very common in/characteristic of ADHD. I don't remember him ever splitting. His shitty love life makes sense with ADHD too - deficiency of dopamine makes it very easy to mistake the dopamine boost from "new person to talk to" for a crush (believe me). Hypersexuality is also common in ADHD, as well as emotional dysregulation, alexithymia (difficulty/inability to identify one's own emotions), overstimulation, shutdowns, etc, which can occasionally resemble splitting, but is very different, and works through exhaustion and frustration rather than delusions. Various types of paranoia as well as heightened irritability are also very common, especially when your senses are clouded by sensory/information/emotional overstimulation. And especially the splitting outwards part just doesn't sit right with me - maybe i missed a stream or sth but I haven't seen anything like that in him. Furthermore I'd actually say he generally points negative feelings/breakdowns etc inwards for the most part - and when ADHD is being pointed inwards it usually leads exactly to developing/heightening shit like paranoia, rejection sensitivity, hypersexuality, emotional dysregulation, alexithymia, etc. He can snap and isolate himself, but it's very different to splitting. ALSO - very important part - Quackity doesn't exhibit mania episodes. He occasionally exhibits the type of hyperactivity and excitement representative of ADHD, but it's never this state of delirium with feelings of grandeur, delusions, etc. Wilbur does exhibit mania episodes - pretty heavily at that - and the contrast makes it pretty apparent that Quackity's case is different.

THAT BEING SAID I don't have bpd, so for a perspective from someone who does, here's a rant from @octobre-ackedia: <<On so many levels, Quackity doesn't show bpd symptoms. Not all abandonment issues are borderline personality disorder. I don't think I need to say it, but bpd takes over the entire life of a person, it's not just trauma. And I don't really have much to elaborate on with the ask, mostly showing Wilbur's bpd traits but that's for an entirely different rant, and I need to chill out. Quackity doesn't black split on others. It was not shown a single time. He slowly loses trust in people, he builds walls, but that's not splitting. He doesn't start to irrationally hate everyone around himself, think that people are just cruel and bad, and more importantly don't care about him, suddenly becoming aggressive towards them. He backs off a little bit more with each disappointment in people around him, ending up not so much hating, as avoiding human relationships. And he doesn't have a favourite person, not even Slime who was just so perfectly there to be an example of that. Quackity learnt how to trust the guy, building a friendship, but never became truly "obsessed" with him. He grieved his death, tried to save him, but FFS, that's not a favourite person, that's how human relationships work (or more so, hybrid relationships haha). He doesn't get manic. You could say he becomes strongly confident, hypersexual or overworking himself, but the important part in it is the reasoning. He doesn't start believing he is some sort of a saviour for the world and can build a perfect country, or that he doesn't need anyone for that. He starts a project and might go overboard with it, but it's never this... aggressive as with bpd. With the 9 most visible symptoms, he has maybe 3 of them, which are all clear reactions to specific situations. Unstable relationships? Schlatt became an abuser, Karl and Sapnap abandoned him, he never really influenced any of that happening. The abandonment issues and feeling of emptiness are simple reactions to that trauma. His moves are calculated, he doesn't really show any mood swings, he has a quite clear image of himself, he doesn't experience any suicide ideation or shows extreme examples of self harm/putting himself in danger. And what about the part of splitting when he pushes people away after getting scared of becoming too close? He always stays, in the end. Even when he tried so hard not to get attached to Slime. Where's the white splitting? Where's anything, really. I still stand with the headcanon of them having to navigate a hard relationship, with both of them experiencing severe mental issues, but it's not bpd4bpd. Q is my depressed ADHD bitch, who struggles with trauma.>>

Also I'd say Wilbur's heavily autism coded too - as a bonus it does frequently "strengthen" bpd cause of the type of trauma autistic people experience. Q I see as very much ADHD but I also low-key hc him as somewhere on the spectrum too, though I'm not as heavily set on that

Tldr while Wilbur absolutely clearly has some severe mental issues, Quackity's seem (to me at least) to be more easily and consistently explainable by a combination of ADHD (maybe low support needs autism) and some (pretty damn severe (canonically - looking mainly at all the abandonment + sa hints)) trauma

They're both wordsmiths. They're both politicians that are good with their words, albeit in slightly different ways. The two of them working together for a common goal is LETHAL, especially when involving wordplay and manipulation (even with the negative connotations, but c'mon. When you're good with words, that's just kinda how it goes). Quackity's a conman, Wilbur a skilled writer and poet, and both of them have a history of giving speeches and otherwise public speaking skills.

That being said, they're super good at manipulating their outward presentations, particularly with how they speak to people.

The kicker?

They can't do that nearly as well with each other. They have decades behind them of manipulating their words, of pressing things into their outward shells to appear certain ways, but they just cannot hide how fucking stupid they are for one another.

Insert an old post I saw a while ago that was just "Get yourself a man who despite his lifetime of repressing his emotions can't hide how smitten he is for you." Because that is also them, both of them, at each other.

referencing the poker hc, they not only know the manipulation tactics too well, but also each other. It's just a constant "Wilbur you're not getting me to agree through affirming the consequent. We're not getting a 5th box of dino nuggies. Grow up" and "Quackity I know exactly what you're doing. You're not making me believe that doing the laundry was my idea all along." but also lots of "Wilbur you were overusing this logical fallacy already in pogtopia. i told you that then, and i'm saying it again now. it's not working" and "Quackity i know you can talk around the subject so good you made Schlatt forget that he was asking you why you smell like me, but you're not gonna distract me from the anniversary plan I clearly saw on the table and how it clearly had a 'shibari class' on it"
