Oh, I love this question. I've been waiting forever for someone to ask this!!!
We're actually really close to finding out more about El's dad. He'll be discussed in chapter 17 so, really, I should say he's just around the corner!
We'll meet El's mother in the next chapter. The scene I wrote with her isn't long, but I'm excited for you to read it. It'll give you more information about their power dynamic and a better understanding of El's personality and decision-making.

Story Synopsis: Elizabeth 'El' Herrera and Matt Murdock have been together for four years but have been friends since college. Yet, their relationship is hanging by a thread, and the two are desperate to make it work. 18+ ONLY.
Author's Note: Well, hello there. A new chapter of 'Dissolution' is finally here. It's a lengthy one, so grab a snack, some water, and maybe even a blanket to cuddle with because there's some angst in this one. Enjoy! 💗

Excerpt from Part 15
“I like it here.” I placed my hands behind me and leaned back. The rubber ropes from the boxing ring brushed against my head as I slightly tilted it back to look up at the ceiling. “It’s a good place to think.”
“That’s why I like it,” Matt said, making me turn my head to look at him. He turned his head and faced me. A small grin crossed his lips. “It’s also a great place to blow some steam,” he said.
I groaned. “Like when your lame professor suddenly cancels an exam you studied all night for and changes it to the following week?”
Chuckling, he nodded. “Exactly.”
I leaned forward, unzipping my boots and letting them drop to the floor. I stood up, stepped through the ropes, and entered the boxing ring. “I still can’t believe my professor did that. I pulled an all-nighter.”
Laughing, Matt turned around. “I know. You called me at one point.”
“I had to vent.”
“And venting, you did.”
I turned around, watching him slip his shoes off. “I never did ask— Did I wake you that night?”
Standing up, Matt held onto the ropes. With a small smile and his shoulders lifting in a half-shrug, he said, “Yeah, but it’s fine. I’ll always answer when you call. No matter the time.”

“We’ve got three minutes left,” I said quietly, smiling as Matt stepped forward, gently taking my hand in his to hold. I felt his thumb brush over the back of my hand.
“We could stay an extra two minutes.”
I shook my head. “No, we said five minutes. Those are the rules.”
Playfully, Matt scrunched his nose and shrugged. “Rules can change.”
I chuckled. “Says who?”
“The person who came up with the rules,” he said smoothly.
“Ok, first of all–” I pulled my hand out from his and pushed my finger softly against his chest “–you came up with the first three rules.” My finger moved off his chest to rest on mine. “I came up with the last two.”
“Exactly.” He nodded. “Majority rules.”
“Majority rules? Really? You’re gonna go that route?”
Matt grinned, his hands landing on my hips as he ducked his face into the crook of my neck to begin kissing me again. “Yup.”

hi it’s me again! so my biggest guess as to what he says is something to confirm that he’s committed to her. maybe a simple “I love you” or even “you have all of me too”. I think it would make sense since just a couple chapters before we got a similar scene with her wanting to say I love you to him.
im also remembering that scene in the tent when she finally whispers it to him but he didn’t hear it (or at least as far as we know he didn’t hear haha). i love that we’ve been getting hints here and there cause it’ll make the moment when we read how they finally get together even more satisfying 💕
ive already started some rereading so ill probably be back to ask some more questions 😅

I'm so glad you're enjoying the small hints and catching onto them. Here's something else to keep in mind, especially from the examples I shared when answering your first ask -- italics. I'd say pay close attention to which words are italicized in those moments because though it may seem like one thing, it's actually not what you think 😉
