A certain concept piece that i took to far for the first area in a game that me and two friends were trying to make. Sadly on a hiatus for now (and foreseeable future). We kinda concluded that, after this, we should try organize the palette better, changing some colors. Maybe, intead of a 32x32 char. sprite, we could make it smaller too. Also, these crystal-coccon are too much lol.

Lets recap

2014 - It all started because my TV broke. Shifted the focus of videogames and movies to the internet. Decided to try pixel art and animation out of my self-considered failures on other fields of art. (Lol)

2016 - By the end of 2014 i’ve started a piece that would be just a tentative on isometric perspective, decided to add some animations and it just grew, until i completed it in 2016.

2017 - Made some more tentatives on pixel art stuff.

2020 - Started with another bigpiece and decided to participate in some weekly challenges and finally made an avatar of myself

2021 - Started with more drawing challenges.

Ill mantain the focus of this blog as a pixel art archive of my work i just want to concentrate all my progress in one post.

Imaginary timeless outskirts 2020 Gabriel C. F. Sena

Notes to myself (and to you): Color still needs improvement, are too muddy 'cause lacking contrast. A strong light impression is needed. But,... my line work and dithering are better (i think) hehe. Shirtless guy and lil' empress are boring designs, but im happy with the others. The cropped feeling of the character, like they were cut and paste there, was intentional, so proportions and light differs from the scenario on porpose to give them some game-NPC-feeling

Inspiration came from some research done on chinese architecture and MapleStory's NPC studies. What do you guys think? :D

Exercising differents color palettes for skin tones. I think the colors are a bit muddy, too grayish. I think Colors are my weakest point so it's this piece is nothing more than training to get better at it.

Pokézil is a late joke on the Pokemon Fever started by Pokemon Go. I decided to make a nationaldex using chracters and mascots from the massmedia, be it tvshows, advertisement, pop culture in general. So it's kind an inside joke, very regionalistic to be sincere.
