The aliens look at each other. Not in confusion. They are mortified. Their many eyes glance back on my screen. I seem to have started several wars, two of them are almost over as I just sit and wait for my enemy to surrender. I control two thirds of the galaxy already.

"Guys, it's just some game. You should try it. Stellaris is pretty fun!", I say with an exciting grin.

A war just ended.

"It...sure seems like it," says Ik'thar, the ship's navigator, with a nervous grin. The people from empire I just invaded do look similar to his species now that I think about it.

I put police stations on all the new planets I have conquered to increase the stability. Can't have people rioting now. My fleet just finished its repairs.

Onto the next war.

My colleagues look at my war goal with worry and disgust: Conquer.

They hope it may quench my thirst for war crimes. Maybe violence truly is in human nature. Some just don't intend to cross the line towards "real" action.

I bet that Shexka will tell our captain. Hope they don't fire me.

Or worse, actually want me to help the military.

“Guys, it’s not what it looks like! It’s just a video game we Humans play sometimes back home!” You attempt to explain in futility, as the rest of the crew are getting more convinced you’re an undercover military elite, rather than the ship’s engineer.

Today, author Uju Asika talks about what she learned while tackling Second Book Syndrome and gives advice on navigating it.  There’s something immensely powerful about completing your first book. For a brief moment, you feel invincible. After all, pretty much everyone you meet thinks they have a book in them, but not many people actually sit down to write it.

I wrote my first book, Bringing Up Race, in the midst of a global pandemic. Writing my next book, a picture book for younger readers, was a much less stressful experience. So it was actually with my third book, aimed at grownups again, that Second Book Syndrome kicked in.

Plot vs. Story: Why the Difference Matters

Is there a difference between plot and story? NaNo participant Hedi Mohammed walks us through this question and talks about how knowing the difference can help you in your writing.

You may be wondering why this is a question at all. While it might not be an obvious problem, many writers tend to mash together the words “plot” and “story” and use them interchangeably. How accurate is that assumption?

It turns out that there is a notable difference between them, and knowing it gives you an edge over plot bunnies, characters acting out, and all kinds of other problems!

What is a Plot?

A plot is a collection of events that happen in a certain order in a story. More importantly, plot is what your characters respond to; it’s the combination of this action and reaction that moves a story forward. Therefore, the plot is considered a building block rather than the whole.

What is a Story?

On the other hand, a story is more than the sum of its parts; it includes the plot events, characters, worldbuilding, themes, and wording of your book. All of these different building blocks come together to form a complete, well-written recount of the story you want to tell.

Why is Knowing the Difference Important?

As you can imagine, trying to force the idea of plot, a building block, being equal to the entire story is a recipe for disaster.

By equating the plot to the whole story, you might find yourself focusing primarily on what happens in the world of your characters. This can make you accidentally compromise on other equally important parts of your story, like better characterization, without you realizing it.

Remember that plot events mean nothing without the reactions of the characters to them. There are many sides to a good story; events can be seen as heartfelt, cold, or scary depending on how characters react and how you set the scene.

How It Helps You Improve Your Writing

Simply knowing the difference between plot and story can clear up a few of the issues that writer’s block can stem from, like not knowing which direction your story is taking. Additionally, you can:

Prioritize different parts of your story. By moving away from the plot every now and then, you start to notice other areas that may need more work.

Improve the characterization of your characters. With the relationship between plot and characters in mind, you can develop your protagonist(s) and antagonist(s) alongside the events that affect them.

Explore more creative ways to make use of your worldbuilding/themes. Develop your mood in less common ways, or take advantage of simple sentences to make punchy statements.

Stay motivated and power through writer’s block. If you consider writer’s block a mystery to be solved, then you just made a breakthrough!

Here you go, a tidbit of information for your writing needs! While the misunderstanding may seem small, resolving it can have an incredible effect on your writing process.

Somw more things i realised that other people may have already pointed out but I'm to lazy and tired to check:

- M!Halloween!Grima puts more emphasis on the bond between Robin and Chrom than his female counter part

- Wedding!Robin wears blue, purple and pink roses. As pointed out in the comments blue roses stand for unrequited love. Also blue is Chroms colour and purple is Robins so you don't even need to know much about flower language to look more into that.

- In the Forging Bonds event with Fallen!Chrom they also used M!Grima eventhough they could've used F!Grima too.

- In todays trailer for Brave!Robin they used Brave!Chrom, Brave!Lucina and F!Morgan in his showcase. Although you could argue about Morgan being Robin and Lucinas daughter here, we know IS doesn't want to solidify too many pairings. If it was more about good bonds they could've just as well put Lissa in there but they picked Morgan which could still present them as one family. Might be reading into this too much but that's what we're here for

Let’s talk how about Chrom and Robin’s bond evolved over time

With everyone clamoring over the new emblem I wanted to take a look back how we got here with their relationship and why I think at this point Chrobin is the intended or inferred Chrom pairing when it didn’t used to be.

In 2012 we got Fire Emblem Awakening, and as Chrom was related to Marth, his inferred pairing was Sumia a pegasus knight as a nod to Caeda, Marth’s canon wife. Granted because part of Awakening’s charm is you could pair anyone up, you didn’t have to pair Chrom up with Sumia if you didn’t wish to. But to IS she was the intended choice.

She had special scenes with Chrom and was the most likely to end up paired with him if you weren’t gunning for a specific wife for him

And you see her here in the opening with Lucina

Robin is you, the avatar, they don’t even have official art, just them with a hood

They had a canon design what we all know now but it wasn’t really used. And that should have been it as far as IS was concerned. Awakening was their last hurrah. And then FE blew up.

Robin’s canon design is now getting used, both the male and female version are now in Smash Bros. Then we have Warriors and Heroes and the Awakening cast shows up more. But not Sumia. Perhaps it’s because she’s not popular or the people flocked to Cordelia instead but she is the pegusus knight everyone loves. Sumia isn’t even in Warriors or the base FEH she gets added much later to FEH only with other less popular Awakening characters.

It’s here when FE became more maintstream I believe that IS changed their tune on Sumia being the intended wife and retconed it. I fully think Sumia was dropped and they no longer had an intended pairing for him all because she just wasn’t popular. Him and Robin were close of course they always were, obviously some would see it as friendship others would see it as something more the usual nothing really changed there.

And then 2022 ten full years after Awakening’s release…this happened
