Baby’s last chemo ™

I wanted to make a big post for this one! I am the proudest I have ever been, Groot has taken this like a champ. He’s been so brave, so understanding, been very well behaved for the ladies at the vet and got better each visit! He is so happy just to be alive, and loves everyone and everything with a burning passion.

I want to thank everyone who has helped, shared, contributed, and cared about Groot and us! This was a truly eye opening experience, the generosity from everyone around the world who came together to help. With commissions from around the world, donations from around the world from the anime and figure collecting communities im in. I’ve received a lot of messages and comments of support and people sharing similar stories about their pets and even themselves.

Thank you to everyone who shared the gofundme and Groots information around!!!

This was a rough one, and that hospital stay really threw us off. Without everyone’s help we wouldn’t be here. I am so thankful that everyone came together for Groot. He’s the purest, sweetest, deepest dog I’ve ever met. Getting more time with him is priceless, I spend every day showering him with as much love as I can. I make him a homemade topper weekly, we have a nice little routine. This little adventure brought Groot, Sam and I closer, going on trips with Groot, or out to get stuff for him!

Thank you all!! Groot will be getting a nice steak in a few days once he’s made through the symptom patch (he gets anti-nausea pills for 4 days)!

Well we were all set for Groots final chemo payment after my fiancée got $1600 inheritance from her Grandmother passing. But guess what!! Her insurance just went up by $300, she just had to pay $450 to have health insurance for the month of January. After other bills that keep randomly popping up it’s all gone.

I really wanted to take a small break from comms, but I need to make as much as I can by January 8th. It’s his LAST treatment. $860. I don’t know why things have to be so difficult, and keep getting harder…

So any and all comms welcome, I am pretty broke after spending nearly all of my savings on his chemotherapy. The couple hundred I have left I need to keep for buying him his dog food, food topper, and meds.

Stressful day, it’s raining, bad wind, had to use wood pellets on the ground to even get out of the yard.

Our Chemo was scheduled for a Monday, we had the convo about how Mondays have been working for us so they would continue (vet tech brought it up and said it about the Mondays).

I rescheduled my own appointment from Monday to Tuesday for it. Then we get a text telling us it’s on Tuesday! The paperwork says “Tuesday, December 18” the date is a Monday, we spoke about it being Mondays. So we called and they “fit us in” at 11:30. We get here at 11:20 and he didn’t even go in until 12:20. So now my fiancée is late to work.

The vets and techs are wonderful here, but I’m pretty mad. The scheduling staff need to get on top of things better, this isn’t the first time they’ve changed an appointment on us, this is just the first time I couldn’t reschedule around it. They’ve gotten $15k from us at this point. $5k was for an overnight stay that looking back he probably didn’t fully need, considering the person who would be able to look him over wouldn’t be in until the next day. None of that $5k went to his chemo and I’m getting a little more upset with it as time goes by because I now have nothing left. I emptied my savings, sold my belongings, and money is tight. I’m not upset about doing it all for Groot, I’m just upset at how hard the institution of it all is. It shouldn’t cost this much, they shouldn’t be told to push for more scans and more money etc by the owners of the clinics.

Thank you for the purchases, and commissions, those have helped me keep going! I have one last one I’m working on for my current batch (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE EVERYONE!). I’m going to pain management twice weekly for electro current therapy, on top of the literal 8 medications I take 1-3 times daily. Trying to stay on top of it all, but I feel like no matter how much I do right, factors I have no control over get me messed up.

Still stressed out and fighting BS. But Groot is well, doing great in Chemo, and now has 2 doses left 3 weeks apart (he had his most recent dose on Monday). Gofundme in my bio/all over as usual!

Groot is still doing great bloodwork and checkup wise! He didn’t have a heart murmur this week, so the oncologist came up with a great plan she feels safe doing.

Instead of replacing the Doxorubicin we’ll be taking away the other meds, Doxorubicin is the strongest option! So instead of every 2 weeks and alternating meds, we’ll be doing another 3 or 4 doses of just Doxorubicin every 3 weeks.

This balances out the stress on his body, while still providing him the strongest treatment option. It balances out cost wise a little as well. It’ll be approximately $3500-4000 total for the rest of his treatment now, before it was going to be $5000-5500. It’s still hard on me financially, but a little more manageable.

Any and all help is still super appreciated! Now we have 3 weeks between each appointment to get the money, which helps give me more time to get the funds!

Update!!

Groot is doing wonderful! I am in an extremely tough spot though. We’re going to have to adjust his chemo medication because we can’t afford the ecg he needs for them to feel safe giving him the rest of his doses.

We’re honestly okay switching to the other medication as it’s supposed to be less stressful on his heart. While still being a strong treatment option. The quote for that is $3k for the rest of those doses, with 4 other doses of different types with it. We’re estimating about $5k total. Which we just don’t have at this point. We have been denied for personal loans, CareCredit Card, Scratch Pay, Wells Fargo. My fiancée was approved for a $300 loan at 26.90% interest from Sunbit, which obviously isn’t worth it. We’ve reached out to every foundation we’ve seen, I’ve sent in to weratedogs, Paws4, BowWow and a few other ones I can’t remember the names of at the moment. We’ve all joined numerous Facebook groups to share. We’ve even gotten to a point where last week we asked long time neighbor/family friends (who are very well off) for the possibility of a loan with a notary and payment plan, they read the message and ignored us…we’ve never asked them for money (until last week for a loan).

So that’s it we’ve really exhausted what we can at this point. I’ve sold a few things but of course it’s not enough, the commissions have been super helpful though! Thank you so much! As well as thank you to everyone for sharing!! Shares help..I feel like we just need to get it into the right hands. Of course I’m still going to be doing commissions and selling what I can as well.

SO FOR ME:

I’ve had a super busy week, I apologize if I haven’t gotten back to anyone with comm updates yet! I’ve had an appointment almost everyday this week for my own medical issues. Then Groots chemo, and I was meant to have an important doctor appointment tomorrow, but it was rescheduled. There was a mass shooting about 45 minutes away from me, the suspect is still on the loose so businesses are locking doors, and rescheduling appointments. -My absolute condolences to the victims and I truly hope he’s found soon.

I had electro current therapy AlphaStim on Monday and it ACTUALLY HELPED MY CHRONIC PAIN! Like surreal, I can do a couple in office visits that my insurance will cover. There’s an at home one Quell that I think would be life changing for me, but it’s $150 up front for the band and 2 replacement packs. Then it’s $25-50 a month per replacement pack. Which i obviously can’t afford while emptying everything to my name out on chemotherapy. (I would rather be in pain than let Groot down).

I appreciate the kindness and support/understanding right now! It’s a really tough time, especially after the hospital blow, and now hearing about the medication stuff. Gofundme in bio and on my profile as always, no pressure to anyone! Times are hard all around and I don’t want anyone exerting themselves for me.

We’re at a point of desperation now. That hospital stay again ruined me. Mom got a $1700 loan, we’re waiting for the check to reach the vet. Paid another $620 out of pocket and now I’m scared. The $1700 should buy us 2 maybe 3 treatments. That’s 3 weeks…

Today the Vet tech/assiatant came out to give me his discharge paper and told me to give him something extra super yummy from her! Said it’s such a huge improvement and difference from his first visit to now. They’re super happy, and he’s doing great! They have a little routine, and he was even going up to the vets and rubbing against/bumping them while wagging his tail!

Everyone is rooting for him!

My fiancée is applying for loans, we’re looking at credit cards and applying. Sending the gofundme to the list of foundations. They’re entirely overwhelmed though, long wait lists, limited funds, strict requirements. We’re sending the gofundme to social media pages, I sent it to the Weratedogs gofundme application, they only share 1 gofundme a week though.

Selling things, doing commissions, just everything I possibly can! I am so incredibly grateful for all the help and support so far, please no one feel bad if you can’t help, and no one feel like I am dismissing all the help so far! Important PSA : Save Groot!

I honestly have never posted anything like this before, on Tumblr or any other social media site, but a very dire situation has come to my attention that needs and deserves recognition.

This beautiful boy was diagnosed with cancer.

Because of the overwhelming medical bills as well as ongoing treatment required…. Groot’s wonderful, amazing, caring, loving, generous human named Autumn needs help.

She has already held fundraisers, sold a bunch of her stuff, took commissions, accepted help from her friends and family, and both Autumn and her fiancé spent whatever they had in their savings.

(The most recent bill was an unexpected hospital stay that was over $4,000. But because of that hospital stay, Groot is currently back home, right where he belongs by Autumn's side.)

All of this has kept Groot alive and thriving.

Thanks to all of Autumn’s efforts and refusal to give up on her precious pup, Groot is successfully beating cancer.

In fact, his veterinarian as well as the oncologists caring for Groot have given him a very positive prognosis. They have praised his strength and the journey he is conquering step by step.

They are confident that Groot will thrive after overcoming this difficult obstacle in his life.

However!

While Groot has taken his chemo treatments very well, he still requires several more rounds.

He needs to receive approximately 12 more rounds of chemo over the course of the next 3 or so months.

Because Groot is such a strong, lively, tenacious little warrior who still has a long life ahead of him, I am asking for everyone to please spread this around!

I completely understand if you personally cannot donate. Times are tough, and everyone is struggling in one way or another.

Autumn also understands this.

She has told me multiple times just how extremely guilty and sick she feels from seeking help. She is doing absolutely everything she can, even applying for loans and credit cards to cover the extra costs on her own.

Autumn is not the kind of person who expects others to contribute/donate to her. She is under immense amounts of stress and dealing with so much currently, yet she still remains unbelievably considerate, sensitive, thoughtful, and understanding towards everyone else and their situations.

And that’s exactly why I’m posting this. Autumn and Groot need and deserve our help!
