I once saw someone say that Colin Bridgerton wears a lilac cravat in the epilogue and that means his season will be s3. And at the time I was like “that’s weird…thats a long shot..idk..”
But after my *cough* 6th *cough* rewatch of the show, I realized that that boy wears a blue cravat the WHOLE time. (The exception being the times he wears a cream/white cravat at formal events). it’s blue. it’s dumb, unflattering, baby blue in every episode. And so why suddenly put him in a lilac cravat? for approximately 8 seconds of screen time? WHEN IT DOESN’T EVEN MATCH his outfit?? He was still wearing that dumb baby blue jacket, and the lilac honestly clashed with it, but the costume designers did it anyway…which means they had intent.
here is a link to an article where the costume designer (Sophie Canale) says they use lilac purposefully, symbolically of first love, and had Kate wear it for the Pall Mall game, their first kiss, and the gazebo scene’s under garments.
and so…maybe the lilac cravat means that Polin’s season is season 3, and maybe not (but hopefully so). But one thing it does symbolically mean, is that by time we are in the epilogue of season 2, six months after the story of season 2….Colin is in love :)
