Life will not stop being a LOT, but I've got some time tonight to sit down and write. So I've got my big priorities... Work on the next chapter of Perseverance, work on the next chapter of Contained, or work on the next little oneshot surrounding Legacy?
I mean yes, I do have other WIPs I would like to get back to, but I'm trying to focus a little bit. So things like Blade in Hand and my other WIPs that have continued to nibble at my brain for years will have to wait a little while longer, because these are the three I have picked to prioritize.

Lotor returns to classes after midterms, with a few new restrictions. He makes a choice to round off the edges of his nerves. Sendak disapproves.

Sendak takes his anger out on Lotor.
Whaaaaaaaat, not me showing up 5 years later with Starbucks to update this fic. I know, I know, it's been a time. I'm not sure if anyone is still reading it, but if you are, thanks! And if you're new, also thanks!

Y'all are never going to guess what I'm doing for Nanowrimo this year.
I'm showing up to Perseverence 5 years later with Starbucks. Does anyone even remember that fic? My Sendak/Lotor "sugar daddy" abuse-and-whump AU? No? Does anyone still read that pairing anymore?
Ah well, even if no one is still subscribed/has it bookmarked, or plans to continue reading it, at least I'll be able to feel good about updating it again. Plus it's nice to write Lotor having a bad time. I missed it.

Getting into the mood by listening to "Nothing" by Emilie Autumn on repeat, even though it's on my playlist for the actual captivity piece of the fic and Suneater was rescued chapters ago. Still definitely gets me thinking about the story.
Trying to get back in the mindset to finish the next chapter of Contained and get back to updating it. I just realized how long it's really been; of course, I took time off to write my piece for the Problematic Big Bang, and I also lost both my maternal grandmother (after having lost my paternal grandmother shortly before I last updated) and a close family friend who was like a surrogate grandmother to me in the months after I last updated it - that certainly had me in a poor mindset to keep writing. But I really do want to get back to it, so... yeah. I'm re-reading it to remind myself where exactly I left off, and the next chapter is partially written, so hopefully I will be ready to update again soon!

Four years after going on the run with Dabi, Shouto has grown used to living a quiet, unassuming life in the shadows, doing his best to avoid notice. But while he may never be a hero in any official capacity, he's hard-pressed to just let people be harmed in front of him - not when he can do something about it.
Or: Shouto becomes a vigilante, much to Dabi's dismay.
First of the one-shot sequels to Legacy, because apparently I can't stay away. I definitely recommend reading the main fic before reading this one, but if you don't want to commit to 117k words of main fic, there is a very bare-bones summary in the author's note at the beginning of the fic.

Thank you for the super detailed response! This is really helpful.
Question regarding mutual intelligibility in writing: Japanese and Chinese
Hello hello! For a thing I’m writing, I have a question for speakers/readers of Chinese and Japanese, which I hope someone will be able to answer.
I know that Japanese kanji, for the most part, have the same or similar meanings to the same characters used to write in Chinese. Is there much, if any, mutual intelligibility in reading them? If I have a character who is a native Japanese speaker/reader, would they be able to, say, read internet forums in Chinese and understand them, even though they don’t speak the Chinese language themself? I mean obviously they would pronounce the characters the Japanese way, but would they be able to understand the meaning? I’m curious, because I know Japanese tends to mix in hiragana and katakana with kanji instead of strictly using kanji, while (I think?) Chinese just uses the character system and doesn’t have a phonetic alphabet. (If I’m wrong please tell me! I studied Japanese for a few years in high school over a decade ago, and I don’t really know much about Chinese language and writing.)
I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone has an answer! I’m a native English speaker/reader, and I don’t know very much about character based writing systems as opposed to phonetic writing systems, so while this seems theoretically like something that could be possible to me, it it’s not, I’d like to know before I include it in my writing and make a fool of myself!

Time moves on.
Thank you everyone who has joined me on this dark and twisted little love story! From the people who commented every chapter to the lurkers; from the people who dove in headfirst to gleefully read the whole thing to the people who tried it out tentatively, unsure if it would be their cup of tea; you're all wonderful and I appreciate you wholeheartedly.
I'm going to take a little time off writing now. I need to deal with a death in the family (a long time coming; family friend/surrogate grandmother who was 91 and on hospice passed late last night/early this morning; she is now at peace and no longer in pain, so while I will miss her terribly, she wasn't afraid to die and she's no longer suffering, and that's good) and to focus on work, since I've admittedly been a bit distractable between writing, dying family, getting tested for and receiving an ADHD diagnosis, and other personal life things. However, I don't intend to stay away too long! I intend to come back relatively soon with one-shot sequels to this story. Please also feel free to check out my other works, some of which I will be resuming work on soon. Works of note that I plan to resume work on again include "Contained" (an MHA Suneater whump extravaganza, featuring some original villains, the OT3 that is Tamaki/Mirio/Nejire, FatGum, and all sorts of medical whump and horror) and "Blade in Hand" (a Voltron Lotor/Keith/Shiro fic featuring enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, and all sorts of horrifying shenanigans. Mind the tags on that one - it's dark, featuring themes such as forced pregnancy and abortion; I stopped writing it after abortion laws came under serious threat in my country and the fic became triggering, but now that I've had my reproductive system removed and no one can ever force me to become pregnant no matter how hard they try, I think I'm ready to tackle it again). If anyone is interested in checking out those or any of my other works, I would be honored! If not, well, thank you very much for your time, love, and support with Legacy!

Shouto makes a decision that will end any chance he has to be a hero. It's worth it, though. Heroes save people, and surely even Dabi deserves to be saved.
Second to last chapter, let's gooooo. Will Dabi and Shouto finally catch a break, or are things about to get worse?

Endeavor receives some bad news. Shouto returns to UA.
Dabi receives another unexpected visitor.
Two chapters to go! Though I have determined that I will be writing some one-shot sequels, which will be posted... Well, not as fast as these updates have been coming. I do have other fics that I've neglected recently that need some attention. But the first sequel should come out not too terribly long after the last chapter is posted!

Hey does Duolingo have Portuguese? I have a commenter who has left some lovely comments in Portuguese, which I don't speak a lick of. (I know Spanish is mutually intelligible, but I also don't speak Spanish.) I'd like to learn some basics so I can respond and thank them properly! I used Google Translate to read the first comment and post a quick thank you, but I'd like to learn a little more to understand better.
