I have heard that a few people are actually worried that they won't understand Macbeth when they go to see it in the Autumn/fall.

Can I make a suggestion to you all.That you read the play while listening to this BBC Radio 4 play version that David Tennant performed.... it will make you familiar with the story and what is actually going on.

I have always loved Shakespeare, but as a Dyslexic I struggle too... so I do my home work. I do it so that I can actually enjoy the live performances without much confusion.

I don't know why, but I dreamt last night that Crowley goes over to LA to hang out with Lucifer...

Well , I lied ! I do know why? ....I had mentioned it to someone the other day

They got totally rat arsed about how they sauntered vaguely downwards and ended up in Hell... lol...

They started to realise that The Metatron caused them to fall after all.... playing mind games on them... and decide to go to Heaven to deal vengeance and rescue Aziraphale .

Lucifer had Aziraphale's flaming sword as it was delivered back to him.

Both of them don't want Earth to be destroyed and realise it's only them that can stop it.

Crowley realises he has to go full bat shit Demon mode... to save Aziraphale..... with Lucifer leading the charge... Crowley is OK hanging behind a bit... it's not really his thing Violence !

Then I woke up sadly, so don't know what happened.

But would love it if Tom Ellis as Lucifer popped his head in season 3....

No one should try to work out my dreams.... Told you all before my Angel/ Fallen Angel thingy is decades old. I am surprised we didn't end up with some it wasn't black and white like Wim Wenders - Wings of Desire movie.

I am doing a double Happy Dance.... !!

I managed to book Tickets for Macbeth this morning..... I was so excited.

My I got Tickets face!!

I was very much doing a Happy dance.... I spent 30+ years working in the Theatre Industry, but due to Anxiety and Panic attacks bought on by grief & PTSD , I have bearly left the house in years. And basically, I want my life back!! Good Omens has given me a zest for life.

Before Covid, I was getting much better, my best friend Delaine was helping me, even coming to London with me for job interviews. But since then, I get scared to leave the house... too much time alone.

So we have and are working up to me going to see Macbeth.... it's good to have a goal... and what a goal hey! To be in a Theatre again is a dream.

I rang her, Delaine, (the dearest friend I have), she is away at the moment in France working on her current Art show, (she is coming with me), I rang to tell her we had got the Macbeth tickets , I was mildly bouncing off the walls. ...to say the least.

BUT she had something far more incredible to tell me, than I had for her, she could finally tell me some wonderful news... that she had to keep secret.

The news is that she has been nominated for the actual Fucking TURNER PRIZE 2024!!!...

What a day!! I am beyond proud of her!

So my excitement is beyond ecstatic.... she has worked so very hard. And deserves to have this recognition at long last. Who knows if she will win, but to be nominated and have work exhibited at Tate Britain is just wild. I am so happy for her.

We met while we were both doing Textile Design at West Sussex College of Design in the 1980s, she used pick me up in her Morris Minor car each day... we were the odd ones ... the weirdos..lol.... somethings never change. We still are.

................

I sadly was not ready to go anywhere when Nye happened, and as Delaine was not going to be around. I couldn't even contemplate seeing Michael Sheen perform.

Now, back to the golden tickets.... and Macbeth ....

I booked Row C... C for Crowley... what am I like!

NO park benches are available, though.

I actually adore Shakespeare's work. My favourite is A Midsummer Nights Dream, I have loved the fantastical creatures.. Angels.. Fairies etc... all my life, so Dream was going to be obvious for me.

This is the Lindsay Kemp Company film version from the 80s... I preferred the stage version.... and always wanted to be a fairy in it.... but never was...I was in other shows.. Lindsay said to me years later why didn't you say... hey ho.. no regrets.

The film director Celestino Coronado butchered Jack's performance by dubbing a female singer over his Titania songs... Celestino also filmed a Hamet, in which he cast Helen Mirren in 1976.

I guess Crowley thinks Macbeth is one of the gloomy ones... I am so looking forward to it. There is nothing like seeing Shakespeare live and this production sounds amazing.

Before my passion became all about Good Omens and a certain Demon , I had other interests...lol.

As a David Bowie and Kate Bush admirer , I was led down the path toward Lindsay Kemp, their mentor.... Lindsay is one of the reasons so much happened in the 70s creatively, as Bowie once said, none of this would of this would of been possible without Kemp.

And Lindsay Kemp really was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on Nitrous Oxide. He is part of Queer Theatrical History.

Once Upon a Time......

The first time I actually saw Lindsay Kemp in the flesh was at The World David Bowie Convention at a massive hotel complex in Hammersmith. I went with a friend who was a massive Bowie freak and as I liked adventures, it wasn't really my type of thing, was never good in big crowds but it was one of best decisions I ever made. It was over a weekend, and I spotted that Lindsay was being interviewed. His interview was very, very popular. There were no seats left, so I sat on the floor.

A photo I found years later. and I am not in it...lol

I knew about Lindsay from both David Bowie and Kate Bush. But at Art School I had been guided towards Textile Design & Print and not done Theatre Design as I originally had wanted to at 16 in my first year at Art School. Natasha Korniloff taught there and she was another part of Kemp co/ Bowie history. I later went back and did the Advanced Theatre course and got taught by her.

(The Textile design was not wasted, I needed it for the printing of the Kimonos in Onnagata).

I was spellbound and mesmerised by Lindsay, he was effervescent ... my friend had gone to watch some Bowie video / film. Lindsay had captivated me, and I picked up flyers for the shows at Sadlers Wells later that month. I booked for Dream and the 2nd shows of Façade and Nijinsky.

I saw Dream from the back row of the gods.. cheap seats.. they looked like tiny fairies from up there. I was a student with no grant, so my cleaning job paid for everything , including paints and paper. DREAM was AMAZING..... like a moving masterpiece painting.

They looked like tiny fairies from where I sat.... I was hooked, so much so my design work the next day changed over night. We were doing landscapes in Textiles... suddenly mine was Dream inspired... the tutor was like what happened to you?.. I told him I had seen Lindsay and co the night before...' that explains it!' he said. I saw Façade and Nijinsky the following week from the stalls. I was in LOVE.. I had come home.. Yes. that old cliché Lindsay Kemp had changed my life. ☺...most people day that.

But my passion grew and grew and years later, after my path ended up in theatre. After on Talk Lindsay did with David Haughton at the Baylis studio theatre at Sadlers Wells in 1989, I got very brave and offered my skills to help. I was working at a Costumiers in London for 2 years. I was a very shy, timid person (well I still am, I wear a mask/ put on a facade / act to deal with situations ). So, offering to help out was a massive deal.. I spoke to David Haughton (Associate Director / Performer ), I was far too nervous to approach Lindsay and I babbled so much that I made absolutely no sense whatever..... David H made me take a deep breath and repeat everything I had just said.

That was the day I first stepped into a Kemp Company world. And as you say, the rest is history.

When I was 12, I saw David Bowie on Top of the Pops (UK)...he was either singing Fame or Golden Years recorded on America's Soul Train. I don't remember which.

I was totally taken in by this skinny strange androgynous alien creature. It was first step into the strange world of the Theatrical performance.

I can still remember which friends house I was at. They were normal, liked horses kind of person. I didn't say anything to them. By the time I hit 14, I had a friend who liked Bowie too, and we used to lay on the floor of their lounge putting our heads between the speakers to work out lyrics on the vinyl albums that didn't have the song lyrics inserts. I remember going to the local Woolworths near school to buy the Heroes album in 1977.

(I can see Crowley in this image, mind you I see Good Omens everywhere and in everything these days...lol.)

Well, my passion for Bowie led me to many things in my life, including Lindsay Kemp, his ex lover and Mentor. After I went to see The Lindsay Kemp Company in 1983, I had kind of gone off Bowie due to Let's Dance and getting Sunstroke at his gig in Milton Keynes. David Bowie had become popular with normal people at it felt like he had sold out at that point to me. So as most of my favourite bands had disbanded, it became a Theatrical life for me.

Recently I have gone back to check out Bowie, (post 1987... still can't do 1983 -1987. ) I found a video I hadn't seen, I knew the song but not the video. When you tour in Theatre you miss a lot of things, films, TV shows and music videos etc. Now I finally have time to catch up.

This video really feels influenced by David Bowie's time in The Lindsay Kemp Company...... especially when he performed in The Looking Glass Murders / Pierrot in Turquoise.

Firstly the bed... something Lindsay used all the time in so many Kemp Co shows.

More Kemp Co beds, first photo Flowers, 2nd The Maids, both based on the work of Jean Genet....as is Bowies song The Jean Genie.

And the guy in the colour screenshot really looks like Jack Birkett, aka The Incredible Orlando who was in the John, I'm only Dancing video...and danced in The Ziggy Stardust shows. The Black and white photos are Jack, who was actually blind. He was in a number of Derek Jarman's films.... most notably Jubilee and The Tempest. It isn't Jack in the video, he was too old to trussed up like that.

Many don't realise that the Ziggy shows at the Rainbow were basically done upon the Kemp Company Flowers Set.

The last time David and Lindsay met was the early 1990s in Italy, Lindsay had said to me DB wasn't very friendly toward him...so I wonder if the video and song MIGHT be about that as the video feels that way to me with the imagery.

Well, let's have Richard 2, pretending to be Marilyn Monroe... sing to David... wishing Mr Tennant a very Happy 53rd Birthday ..... still a toy boy to me lol!! Hoping that he has had a Fabulous day.

Before I started on my arty Crowley T shirts and got totally distracted, I was trying to do a drawing a day in my sketchbook... but once the T shirts took over I forgot about the sketchbook.... basically it inspired the T shirts. Here are the DT ones I started... none are finished , all works in progress. I must try to get back to the drawing.

This was the first one.... like this image was the first T shirt.

I have loved Rotring pens since I was 16 in my first year at Art School.

I also love Dip pens and Indian ink.

I had to buy the Radio Times to draw this the weekend he presented the Bafta film awards.

Today it is a good day, as when I awoke, I had this delight to wake up too....how marvellous is that.. I feel like I got a gold ☆.

Plot Lost!

When I hit the year of my 50th birthday back in 2013... I embarked upon an artistic project of taking a self-portrait every day.... it lasted 4 years in the end, 2013 - 2016. It was all smoke and mirrors, I don't look that good in real life. It's amazing what you can do with makeup and wigs.

I recently looked back on this project. There I discovered I was already channelling the DT Crowley and the Good Omens TV show before it even existed...lol

Some of the red wigs, there were a lot more photos, but you can see them on the videos.

Crowley really is not sure... lol... don't worry dear, I have lost the plot! I am rambling!

The videos got better, year by year so starting with year 3.

Well, my 60s look from 2014. Lol.

As a Theatrical costume person, I had a box of sunglasses and wigs to play with, along with loads of make-up.

Back in the 80s, I wanted some sunglasses that Boy George and his mate Marilyn wore in many colours... with side bits that remind me of Crowley's now... I had to wait until they came back due to Steam Punks.

I like Crowley's better than the 80s now.

(Question... Why does Crowley's snake move up and down his face in season 2... has it sauntered , vaguely downwards?)

Each day I never knew what I was going to do... I really believe ideas hover in the ether... and that's why at times people have similar ideas or influences. Don't ask me how or why... it just is!

I used many angelic things , such as feathers and wings, I also had the fake tattoos on my face... stars and black feathers with crows. Black feather and Angel necklaces, Beelzebub and Eric eyelashes, Then we have Eve eating the apple, I don't like red apples lol. We have a globe, the 1941 hat... Good Omens was so going to appeal to me, wasn't it?

I want that hat.... always wanted a hat like that, since I saw David Bowie's hats in The Man who fell to Earth.

I asked Daniel Ash of Bauhaus/ Love and Rockets/ Tones on Tail if I could use his music to use on the YouTube videos, which he gracefully allowed. Always be grateful for that. Thank you, Mr Ash.... My original Crowley influence, but that essay is coming.

Year 4 of the arty project is on my arty FB page, but I used a friend's music, which I am not so keen on now, and I need to redo with Daniel Ash music... as it works better for me.... and keeps to the theme.

I got carried away and got very arty with this one.... which is a mish mash of the images.

The 15th of December last year 2023, was the moment when I finally succumbed to watching Good Omens for the first time. I had deliberately avoided watching it... as I was very over Angels and Fallen Angels and deep in a mire of depression. I also didn't have prime. I went dog sitting overnight for some neighbours around the corner. I decided to finally watch it as they had all channels. I watched both seasons in the 18 hours I was there..very little sleep. I knew it would be a dangerous slippery slope being Angel based. Of course it was even better than I could of imagined.

I went home and started watching the YouTube clips the fandom had compiled. I bought the book, I am not a big reader... Dyslexic. So I listened to the audio and read along with it.... this kept me going for nearly 2 weeks.

Then 2 days after Christmas, I lost a long term friend suddenly from a cardiac arrest . He was one of my Lindsay Kemp Company family, and I was so upset.. I was in a Fuck it mood and decided I needed to sign up to prime... I needed Good Omens...I needed David and Michael to lift my spirit. Then, a week later, we lost another Kemp Company member to cancer, which was expected...2 in a week. It felt like the late 80s and early 90s when we lost 5 Company members to the dreadful disease Aids... Needless to say Good Omens became my safe place . Maybe it's my religion now it seems far more logical to me.

And now, exactly 4 months later, I have just finished watching them for the 10th time...is that normal or too many times?

I cried again at end of season 2... it's happened everytime I have watched it. I think it won't happen again, I know it's coming, then that tear in Crowley's eye gets me every fucking time. I AM such a bloody softy.....and the floodgates open.

As silly as it seems, this silly story of 2 fictional daft winged creatures has got me through some very dark moments in the last few months.

It has kicked started my creativity again, which was null and void in the depression. I am glad I decided to watch it 4 months ago as it the show,has become almost my best friend.

David and Michael are the soothing voices in my head now. Mind you, their prose, also known as Gaiman's English, is my current fluent language.....along with sarcasm.

Just say I know how Crowley feels right now.

Off to finish crying....😭 maybe by the 20th watch of both seasons, I won't cry anymore.

Yeah right! 🤣

So thank you @neil-gaiman for the restoration of some sanity during this bumpy time... instead of being a Sanity Assassin ... and for being the genius to put DT and MS together.... ❤ but I would not expect anything else from someone brought up in the South Downs area of Sussex like me.😉

If you follow me on Instagram (suezanskeltonartist, you can watch progression there), you know I paint my own Crowley T shirts...just for myself...NOT for sale as the hours they take cost the price of a piece artwork painted on canvas. I have been doing this since the early 80s for personal use... Band's etc. It' s my thing...one off wearable art.

Well , today I managed to pour BLACK bloody fabric paint all over my arm chair and phone and even got it on my yellow t shirt...what a bloody mess...I was more worried about the T than anything... Crowley above armchair and phone...took ages to clear up....but managed it...there was a lot of swearing..lol

Where was Crowley when I needed him to do this for me!

These are still works in progress...it takes ages to build up the layers..the blue one is a hoodie and I had to devise a new way to get my line drawing on it. ..I have 10 pieces on the go as they have to dry...I work a bit on each.

My passion for Angels was around along time ago...( a previous post that explains.)

I bought this book 27 years ago, if I really could be bothered I should re- read looking for all Fallen Angels shouldn't I?

But there are about 4000 entries, it's so detailed.

In a time before most of us were NOT on the Internet , which I believe doesn't have everything on it, and some books do.

Maybe we would have a better guess at who Crowley might be... but I don't really care I will leave that to @neil-gaiman tell us... I really don't want any spoilers before Season 3, I hope it comes out week by week and not in one go. As once it's out... that's it... OVER... no more Good Omens.

Yes watching Good Omens yet again ...

There is a line when they ask ...

'Creatures of Hell.... you have heard the evidence against the demon known as Crowley, what is your verdict?'

"GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!"

Reminds me of a line in Kate Bush song.

It comes from her masterpiece The 9th Wave from 1985.. Side 2 of The Hounds of Love Album. I ADORE it... it was considered very weird and strange back then....and still is to many folks now.

The line comes from a song called Waking the Witch... very apt for Season 1 G.O.

"What say you good people...

GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY !"

Everything I watch the scene, I hear Kate's song in my head.

In many ways, Good Omens opens the files on the hard drive of my memories frequently.....

God only knows what else I will post about my personal triggers from Good Omens...lol!

I was lucky enough to see it performed live in 2014, I had wanted to see Kate perform live since her previous tour in 1979 when I was too young to go.

I love Kates wings as the blackbird part of Waking the Witch as she is in the water, it reminds of Crowley being pulled to hell in Edinburgh.

Kate has become very popular since Stranger Things, but I remember her first appearance on Top of the Pops in 1978.

Kate and David Bowie guided me to Lindsay Kemp as a teenager... somehow, we all find a path if we follow our dreams. I did meet Kate numerous times backstage at Kemp shows as she often came to see Lindsay and Douglas McNicol, who danced with her a lot around 1982....during The Dreaming era.

I wonder if sometimes Crowley/ Crawly left his Angel wings on his snake persona and scared the Ancient Aztecs. I am having another weird 5 mins in my head.... it wanders while I paint my Crowley t shirts and as I am planning the next ones... I went off on the idea of a winged serpent ....

"The Aztec feathered serpent deity known as Quetzalcoatl is known from several Aztec codices, such as the Florentine codex, as well as from the records of the Spanish conquistadors. Quetzalcoatl was known as the deity of wind and rain, bringer of knowledge, the inventor of books, and associated with the planet Venus."

Look the winged serpent bought rain and was the inventor of books... Crowley had that book when he set the nebula.... obviously another thing that attracted Aziraphale to books.

Also there was a winged serpent in Ancient Egypt...

"Wadjet, is often depicted as a winged cobra. These wings serving a dual purpose as a protective embrace and being capable of creating the breath of life often connected to the image of the Ankh that she is often depicted with. Both of these uses are vital in surviving the afterlife."

I am having a weird musing time..... tangents are us! I know Crowley is fictional, but I love to think he created mischief all the time. I like to think his nature is more Puckish Mischief like Puck /Robin Goodfellow in A Midsummer Nights Dream.
