It is truly unbelievable to me that I get to make this post today. Back in February I would NEVER have conceived of reaching this goal.

I am just completely blown away. This would not be possible without the amazing support of this community. When @deadeyedfae pushed me to try giving art another chance I figured I'd try for a week and then lose motivation entirely. I started to find more of myself in my art and that has been the most invaluable happiness I could experience in what has been a very turbulent stressful past few months. The advice I've received from fellow artists has helped improve my work so much (thank you so much @bubbleverseart , @kaylasartwork and , @welldrawnfish !!!!!)

But above all I finally feel like I've found an online community that I can genuinely call home. Some special shout outs to @skelotom @sixfoothalfling @sunification and @paintedbytosia for your advice and uplifting comments and messages. They helped me alot especially with the mess that is my life right now. I'm sure I missed some people here but please know I appreciate every single one of you so so very much. Your the reason I'm able to keep moving forwards even when times are rough.

Thank you. Thank you so so so much. You've all made me happier than you could possibly ever know. I hope to improve even more and to be more active in the community that I hope to consider my family.

hi just wanted to say I also have autism diagnosed at 5 years old though I don't have dyslexia (I don't really know what it is either though I am pretty sure it has to do with reading stuff though I could be wrong) but rather I have adhd just wanted to share

I want to be open and clear with people that we self ID (the autism, not the dyslexia).

Autism is one of the few things we're willing to self diagnose because, well... To be perfectly frank, our mom was intentionally neglectful of that aspect of our healthcare. Despite thinking we showed signs, she purposely didn't get us tested as a kid.

Now, as an adult, we've been repeatedly failed by the healthcare system for a number of reasons. Most notable being that only a few people in our state are actually willing to evaluate an adult, and it costs thousands of dollars.

If no one else will do it, you gotta put in the research and do it yourself.

Dyslexia is a bit broader than people tend to realize. It affects our ability to: translate symbols into meaningful sounds, recognize and repeat the "cadence" or "flow" of sentences, spell, form proper sentence structure, memorize, and just generally process information.

I probably forgot some things, but you get the gist.

I should also probably note that we were very lucky to be in a situation where we were able to get specialized tutoring in school. We would be struggling to read picture books without it, and I'm not exaggerating.

A lot of people aren't so lucky. Another example of broken infrastructure and systemic inequality.

One of these days I'll try to limit my response to a paragraph lol. I could probably make it through... one ask, maybe two.

Littles are child alters.

An alter can be any age or even fluctuate between ages (called an "age slider"). An alter's age isn't necessarily dependent on when they form either. Some alters age with the body, some remain static, and some are older than the body. It's all very situational and based on self perception, but you can assume: If you can think it, there's probably an alter out there somewhere who experiences it.

We personally like using the term "littles" instead of calling them children because they have a unique relationship with age. They have very different life experiences, access to knowledge, and just general understanding of things to an actual child. But they have a similar range of emotions as well as similar desires and needs. Also, it distinguishes them from being actual, literal, separate people.

This, this genuinely hit me so hard in the feels.

When I first drew myself I was super nervous and had butterflies in my stomach when I posted. Cuz, like, I was showing people the real me for the first time ever. Then when I woke up to your drawing of me it was like... oh, someone actually saw me. She understood, she knew what I look like, beyond the abstract nature of pixel art. It felt so powerful, but made me feel so vulnerable at the same time.

And... I can see that perfectly in your characters. I mean, they obviously have the romantic connection on top of it. But even having a friend see you, having anyone see you for you. That's a feeling I felt as a trans person, and I'm sure you and many others have as well... but, idk... I feel like it's deeper for a system. Because of how I and many other alters present in headspace, we fundamentally can't change our outward appearance to reflect us (and because we share a body it wouldn't be fair to try).

So, I guess, I kind of thought it would be impossible to be seen for who I really am. That is... until it happened.

I'm not sure how much of this made sense. I always have a hard time translating my feelings into words.

Juniper and Valerie are a stand in for things i don't feel like i can express myself, they are both me and neither are me, they are all my friends and my romantic interests, my fears and my desires. Considering all the things we talk about that people are always whining and complaining about in other spaces, "terf gets mad bi people exist" wasn't even on our bingo card lol. Especially considering how little we talk about our own sexualities.

If you're curious, she left a comment on our lumity LVW post complaining about the prominence of the bi flag... Which we were like, ok some people are weird about not conflating the two, especially for holidays. It's depicting a sapphic couple, one of whom is bi, but maybe she doesn't know that. Maybe she's still learning how to interact in queer spaces. Maybe she can be reasonable. We always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But then the first thing we saw when we looked at her blog was "F*ck off my page if you're bisexual" in her bio. Followed immediately by a bunch of biphobic and transphobic posts. So we noped out real quick x)

Remember kids: Don't engage. Block, delete, and move on. Saves you the headache. We're only making this post to mark the occasion, particularly because we thought it would come a lot sooner lol.

Suffice to say, we will not be bringing attention to any future hate. Giving bigots a voice is what gives them power. Cut out their tongues. Let them die in obscurity.
