COWARDICE.

❝ tsukishima if he were the male lead of its okay to not be okay. ❞

GENRE: angst

NOTES: inspo from the beach scene of it’s okay to not be okay (no spoilers). this has been sitting in my drafts bc it originally was a hc.

The smell of salt water wafts through your nose as you stand beside him. The two of you stare at the blue waves that continuously crash back into the sea, refusing to look at each other’s faces.

“I want you to leave me alone. I’m tired of this.” Kei says coldly. He abruptly turns to face you, causing you to whip your head towards him. You are finally looking at him since he stormed out of the hospital, though not with your usual adoration or mischief but disbelief and pain.

“You don’t mean that Kei. I know you don’t. We are the same in that way. We push people away when we need them the most. Remember that? You’re the one who said it to me.” You choke out, fear spreading through you. You are terrified because it seems as if he plans to leave you alone again. Since reuniting with Kei, you have become too conditioned to his constant attention for you to ever revert back to being what he once stated as, the loneliest person on the planet.

“I mean it, Y/N. What we had felt like a dream, it was really great but it’s time for me to wake up and face reality. I can’t keep you around when all you do is bring problems to my already miserable life. You’re a nuisance and I should’ve never gotten involved with you and your crazy bullshit.” He then turns, walking back to hospital.

Kei’s cruel words hit you like a ton of bullets to the chest. Your breathing gets more strained as you fight to find the right words to say to him. Your vision blurs and the heat rises to your face. You are crying, sobbing viciously. Your once repaired heart now broke into a million pieces again.

The realization that he just threw you away like you once did to him in your shared childhood sets in. You think about how you have been so willing to help him, comfort him, and be there for him. Yet, he’s so willing to easily give up and throw it away—the trust and companionship you both worked for.

Soon, that distraught turns into anger, seething ferocity, as you shout to him and his swiftly shrinking figure from your line of sight, “You’ll regret this! I’m not someone for you to throw away when you get scared. You’re such a fucking coward, Kei Tsukishima!”

He never looked back at you as you continued to stand in a fit of tears and frustration. You stand there pondering the why’s and how’s while ruthlessly shouting that he is a hypocrite. However, Kei continues to walk forward without ever looking back at you. What you’ll never know is that as you cry, his heart also breaks into a million pieces.

after a lot of self debating, ive decided to put this on an indefinite hold. with the way my personal life is right now, i do not have enough energy to commit myself into writing a series since (to me and maybe others) it takes a lot of time to do so. i want to focus on writing one shots and improving my writing first and foremost. however, i am planning on picking this up again in a couple of months (maybe around like september or november if im lucky).

hihi, my name is jo (or anjo, jojo, aiode). i am 18 years old and my pronouns are she/her. along with that, i am vietnamese, though i can not speak the language fluently (tragic, tho i am learning).

from the multiple uquizzes and personal evaluations i have done, it seems to be that i kin keiji akaashi from haikyuu, nobara kugisaki from jujutsu kaisen, simon lovelace from the shadowhunters series, kobeni higashiyama from chainsaw man, and lara jean covey from to all the boys ive loved before.

if i were to best describe myself i would say im a extroverted introvert. i like bún thịt, penne alla vodka, sushi, the scents of lemongrass and jasmine, cats, rainy weather, hello kitty, dark academia, black sesame ice cream, and green tea flavored anything. i dislike humidity, stink bugs, mint chocolate chip ice cream, banana flavored everything (except banana bread), statistical probability, current gas prices, and the wii fit trainer on smash. my biggest pet peeves are when people use their trauma to justify horrible actions, pick me behavior, and willful ignorance.

if i had to think of my favorite books (off the top of my head), they are colorless tsukuru tazaki and his years of pilgrimage by haruki murakami, you get so alone at times it just makes sense by charles bukowski, and chainsaw man by tatsuki fujimoto. some of my favorite musicians include sergei rachmaninoff, surl, mitski, and the marías, respectively my favorite songs from each are piano concerto no.2 in c minor, op.18: i. moderato, the lights behind you, a pearl, and i like it.

note: hihi! so i finally feel like i’m caught up enough in genshin lore that i can start actually writing for it!! yay!! anyways, i’m sorry if my portrayal of them is a lil ooc, i’m still getting used to writing for them. still, i hope you guys enjoy! :D

the first few times you bring up sleeping next to him he’s probably going to turn you down

you see, xiao doesn’t really need to sleep, nor does he want to

he finds the idea of lying in a comatose state for eight hours in complete darkness to be “weird” and a “waste of time”

and his opinion on the matter doesn’t change for a while

that is, until you confess to him you’ve been having nightmares

these nightmares were like nothing you have ever had before

they shook you to your very core and, rather than the dream just leaving your mind after you woke up, they followed you around for days

once you confide in xiao about these terrors, he grows very concerned

in the past he’s known people who have been plagued with nightmares as a result of a dangerous curse that, more often than not, ended in death

the thought of you, the person he cares about most, succumbing to such a terrible fate frightens him more than anything — not that he’ll ever admit this to you.

and so, reluctantly, xiao agrees to spend the night with you

just this once, to protect you
