4 Legal Ways To Get Free Textbooks.

1. Open Culture:  Not a large a selection, but high quality texts. If you just want to skim a book to brush up on a course you took in ninth grade, download one of these. I have yet to be disappointed.

2. Book Boon: Provides free college-level textbooks in a PDF format. Probably the widest range of subjects on the web. The site is also pretty.

3. Flat World Knowledge: The worlds largest publisher of free and open college textbooks. Humanitie texts are particularly difficult to come by, this site has a great selection in all disciplines.

4. Textbook Revolution:  Some of the books are PDF files, others are viewable online as e-books, or some are simply web sites containing course or multimedia content.

5. Library Pirate: I’ve always had an addiction to torrent based pirating. When this site opened a few months ago, I went a little overboard. After dropping two hundred on a paperback spanish textbook, I downloaded the ebook version illegally. I also got a great Psyc text i’m obsessed with.  It will be interesting to see how this site grows- they already have a great selection.

While there were definitely good parts, I think I finally know why this season 1 felt weaker than the first Castlevania series to me.

While I agree Erzesbet is interesting thematically, her as a character felt flat. Castlevania was driven by the fact that Dracula was such an interesting antagonist. But Erzesbet is all about just…domination. It’s very one dimensional…at least for now. They might expand on her character a bit next season who knows.

The pacing felt rushed. I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am disappointed this series also fell for this bad habit I’m finding in a lot of shows these days. I wish we could have some more time for Richter to truly grapple his inner demons and then power up. I wish he had more time with Juste to truly discuss about being a Belmont. I wish we didn’t meet Erzesbet right away, and we focused on Drolta first to give our main characters time to grapple and fail etc. with each other.

Once again, there were a lot of great things about Nocturne. This is just me verbalizing what was bothering me and processing what I just watched.

My favourite thing about the D&D movie is it never stops trying to be a D&D movie even down to the most minute, unsung details. There's initiative order gags (I'll go last!) there's rolling a 1 gags (setting off the trap on the bridge by inexplicably just walking up to it) there's stat gags (nobody had high enough Intelligence to be in danger from the Intellect Devourers). Almost every spell is identifiable, from Xenk using smite to Sofina whipping out Finger of Death. Simon's character arc is about his self-confidence being tied to his mastery of magic because Charisma is the spellcasting stat for sorcerers. The era of movies based on games being afraid of their source material is over.
