Top Secret Excerpt from Oliver Stone’s Trump Biopic!
The ending of today’s impeachment hearing was undeniably cinematic que no? Oliver Stone is already halfway finished with the script treatment. Here is a tiny unformatted excerpt. Please excuse the references that Oliver Stone makes to his own work. I’m sure it’s some sort of short hand since he intends to direct it.
Int- Congressional Hearing - Too Early In The Morning
Congressman Schiff bangs the gavel and calls the congressional hearing to a close. Obstinate Republicans continue to shout even though no one is listening. Everyone starts to get up from their seats.
Push in to closeup on Marie Yovanovitch as she gathers her things.  She looks tired from her months long ordeal of being steamed rolled by the President of the United States to serve his own political machinations.
Yet she persisted. Marie straightens her shoulders, holds her head up high and walks toward the exit.
CUT to Matt Joyce watching the hearing on PBS from his living room. He also appears to be exhausted but that’s just the way his face looks. He starts to turn off the television but the sound of a growing applause entices him to keep watching.
CUT back to the hearing. (Do one of my patented weird Oliver Stoneish closeups on Marie) Everyone in the entire room who is not a republican rises up to offer a standing ovation to Marie Yovanovitch.
The UPLIFTING MUSIC swells.
Marie strides out of the room grateful for the acknowledgment of her thirty years of outstanding public service.
CUT back to Matt Joyce. He calls out to his attractive and intelligent girlfriend in the next room of their tastefully decorated bungalow situated in the heart of New Mexico.                                                MATT
Rachel, come check this out she’s getting a  standing ovation!
Closeup on the goosebumps rising on Matt’s somewhat dry skin.
Oliver Stone slow dolly shot focused on a glistening tear in Matt’s eye.
                                             RACHEL
Maybe there is still room for heroes...
Cut to black over the sound of standing ovation.

Have you seen "13th" the 2016 Netflix documentary from Ava DuVernay (Selma, When They See Us)?  I saw it a few months ago and I can't stop thinking about it.  I am not a huge fan of documentaries but this one is so good I am taking the time to write about it.
No spoilers unless you are unaware of what the 13th Amendment is.  12.7 percent of the country’s population sincerely hopes that you know it abolished slavery.
The reason I can't stop thinking about it is because it was one of those films that "unplugged me from the matrix".  If you know me, you know I frequently make jokes or observations that assert that we live in a simulation.  This film is shocking in it's revelations but it's the inexorable and logical case that is made that opened my eyes to a part of reality that previously escaped my full attention.
I won't spoil the case, but know that expert observations and studies are solicited from both sides of the aisle so if you haven't seen it because you think this is just porn for snowflakes you are mistaken.
DuVernay is a director to watch and has been for a while.  If you haven't seen "When They See Us" you should.  Heck, watch them both today.  What's more American than watching tanks roll by Lincoln's stony bony knees in Washington D.C.? Watching important films that educate us on what is actually happening in America. Maybe that is much more important.  I love that we live in a country where a voice like Ava's can be given a medium.  A medium that she savages with thoughtful grace.
If you've seen it, what did you think?

Janet Jackson Is Back! “Metamorphosis” In Vegas
Tumblr media
Janet Jackson showed some boob in a Super Bowl once and was subsequently  brow-beaten into oblivion.  If a pop star were to have a similar wardrobe malfunction today it might turn into a movement, but certainly not a career grenade.  I guess “That’s The Way Love Goes”.
Last night I popped into the MGM Park Theater on the strip in Las Vegas to catch Janet’s residency show and I was not disappointed.  Let’s just start with the venue since it was a large part of the experience.  The theater has less than six thousand seats and the farthest seat from the stage is only 145 feet away.  It was built for this type of show.  My seats were in the second to last row dead center and I felt like I was right there. If you get a chance to see a show here, do it.  And if you are going to see a show there, make it “Metamorphosis”.
Miss Jackson, (f you’re at all inclined to be nasty) waxed nostalgic last night when she let the audience in on a little bit of trivia.  She said when she was seven years old she made her stage debut with her brothers right here in Las Vegas, 47 years ago. Now she is back and maybe this time she can stay.  Jackson played all of the hits and also dug into deep tracks with “Moist” and “China Love”, both of which had never before been played live.
I would like to have a look at Janet Jackson’s fitbit because the woman must have broken it by now.  She is in incredible shape and is still one of the smoothest dance performers I’ve seen.  The dance crew gave a razor sharp high energy performance that made me forget this was a Tuesday night show. The air in the theatre was filled with excitement.  You could tell people were DYING to see this show.  Even the rich folks in the fronty front got up off their asses and off their phones to join the “Rhythm Nation”.
It’s not fair that Janet Jackson has had to wait this long for her chance to shine again.  There were people in the music and television business who reportedly made earnest efforts to destroy her after the Superbowl performance.  Think about all of the music and dance we have missed out on from one of the most influential women in music. I could have much more easily missed out on Justin Timberlake’s “art” in the last 15 years.

Stoopid, Evil, or Both?
Tumblr media
Here is a fun game to play in these turbulent times.  It’s called Stoopid, Evil, or Both.  The explanation is in the name of the game.  You can play it with your friends or ON your friends.
Here are a few popular examples to get you started.
Donald Trump : Both. Evil because he mimicked a disabled reporter on television. Stupid because he mimicked a disabled reporter on television.  Feel free to cite further examples in the comments because it pains me to talk about this motherfucker.
Jussie Smollett: Stupid.  The man nam- dropped his own show in the victim statement. Also, he is on a show called Empire but couldn’t think of a better way to improve his own.
Robert Kraft: Stupid. He pleaded innocent to charges of soliciting prostitution on VIDEO. Maybe Kraft isn’t stupid.  Wasting the court’s time when guilt is incredibly clear is a smart move to try and reduce a sentence in a plea.  However, if you are going to say you’re innocent then don’t insist that the proof of your guilt be kept from the public.
Kim Jong-un: Evil. According to the Institute for National Security Strategy, Kim has executed as many as 340 people who stood in his way, including family members.  Thanksgiving for that family must be awkward as hell and probably a little lonely. -Un aint a dummy.  Trump admires Kim because Kim plays to Trump’s ego and that is a smart move that others, including Vladimir Putin, have used with success.  Flattery only got Jong only so far though, since he couldn’t convince the U.S. to give him a break from sanctions. So to hedge his bet he and Putin are planning a shirtless promo fun fest this coming Thursday in Russia.

“Game Of Thrones” Provides Heroes Lacking In Mueller Report
Tumblr media
There will be no spoilers here but there will be references made to Season 8 episode 2, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.
I think it’s interesting that this episode would come out, in the days after the Mueller report was released. Did HBO know that we would need this episode right now?  Even if people don’t give a star spangled shit about politics, the amount of pure UGH in the report leaves one reeling and grasping for a tiny root of faith in humanity.
Along came last night’s episode, which I must admit had me in tears. I wondered to myself why I am I extra-emotional about this one.  Well, there are two reasons.  First, it was a brilliant piece of television.  I know several of my friends are finally catching up on this show and if you haven’t seen it yet, now is the time because it’s at its zenith.   Forgive the comparison, but there were moments where I felt a release, as if someone kept me on the edge of orgasm for eight years and then finally let me go. Relationships that had been cultivated bit by bit through painstakingly planned plots were finally bearing fruit.  The whole thing is so bittersweet because although the levity levee was broken and we were all awash in good feelings...we all know what’s coming to Winterfell. Dark dark times.
Meanwhile, back in the United States, I can’t help but feel the dark times are already here.  This isn’t political, it’s existential. I struggle to find heroes in our government anymore.  People say don’t look to the government for heroes, and I say why shouldn’t we?  I wanted to look at that report and see that when Americans were approached by a hostile government, they contacted the FBI immediately. But they didn’t. Instead the sleazy son of the now-President, welcomed their attack on our independence without hesitation and with an abundance of glee.
Speaking of detestable characters, there are no shortage of them on Game Of Thrones either.  People have compared King Joffrey, a petulant child ruler to Donald Trump, but I think that is an unfair comparison.  Joffrey is an interesting character. Trump is not. Joffrey used his time wisely, petrifying his subjects and torturing the defenseless. Trump does not use his time wisely.  I am not referring to the reported 3-5 hours of “executive time” he spends doing jack-shit.  I am referring to the precious minutes of our life he wastes repeating the same things every damn day. Joffrey at least changed it up from time to time.  That’s what made him compelling, he was so maliciously unpredictable.  Trump is nothing, if not predictable.
Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the altruistic heroism we have seen in Game Of Thrones was reflected in our own plane of reality?  Where would the story be in Game of Thrones without the heroes that sacrifice everything to save those in need.  The story of the United States needs to have a few more of these champions of justice or else the “show” just gets boring, and that kind of boring is bad.
