Hard to pick one…
HAPPY LANDINGS
A seagull and a goose landed near the pier on 34th street, one on a pylon and the second in water. Their landings were very different, the first silent and soft and the other labored and heavy. I wondered which bird had more fun. My money’s on the goose, which felt an abrupt slap as it hit the water and soaked itself in the wake. I’m sure the gull took great pride in its elegant landing, but I’ve chosen a favorite. Funny, I could swear that the two glanced at each other briefly and compared notes on landing style. I just walked away, my ferry was there and I needed to activate my digital ticket to get onboard.

I like the imagery in this one…
ALL ABOARD!
The eight wheels of a locomotive, powerful, aligned and on track. Unstoppable when set in motion.  Wheels of steel.  Form, awareness and action coming together with a purpose.

Eight of Disks
What’s the thought behind such power?  Who’s the engineer that created such wonder?  What inspired it? Necessity to travel inspired the engine but there was ingenuity too.  The iron horse arrived at noon, on the dot, straight out of the sun, belly full of fire, steel hooves making the ground shake.  It screamed its approach but was also strangely civilized by virtue of the intelligence that created it.  You could see divine grace in the whirlwind of invisible wings that drove its impossible weight along elegant serpentine curves.   The spirit of the engineer possessed  and inspired the train.  It took all the strength in his broad steel arm to steer but eight stars and eight furnaces powered him.  Pistons labored, releasing short explosive bursts of propellant energy.  The engine and the engineer were one; blood, steel, muscle and fire.  Eight furnaces full of StarFire fed them.  When the arm moved the wheels followed, when the muscles flexed the wheels picked up speed and when the man stood up the train approached, huge and monstrous. And yet everything was on schedule and under rigorous supervision.  Elegant ladies in fancy dress walked along the aisles and men in handle bar mustaches tipped their bowler hats and smiled. Children ate cotton candy and let pink balloons slip out of their little fingers. Only in the distance did one lone bull elephant dare to raise its head and trumpet a challenge to battle.
