7 Virtues of Hellenism.

Xenia - This is the pillar that signifies hospitality, generosity and reciprocity. It's typically demonstrated in a guest/host dynamic.

Kharis - This is the pillar that signifies appreciation and gratitude. It entails giving to the gods and and expressing gratitude when you receive something from them.

Eusebia - This is the pillar that signifies reverence and veneration towards the gods. It can be translated to 'piety' or 'reverant conduct' meaning that you show respect for them.

Hagneia - This is the pillar that signifies purifying yourself. It entails having moral, perhaps physical too, purity and avoiding miasma where possible.

Arete - This is the pillar that signifies excellence and brilliance. It entails trying to reach your highest potential and this can be in any field.

Sophia - This is the pillar that signifies the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.

Sophrosyne - This is the pillar that signifies self-control and prudence. It involves being of sound mind and remaining balanced, which can further lead to other positive qualities to have.

Common Witchy Terms

Athame

A ceremonial knife, typically black handled with a double-edged blade. You use it to inscribe your candles or to cast a circle around the altar before commencing a spell.

Altar

A place where you do rituals or spells. It is often a special table or shelf where your ritual tools are kept.

Amulet

Is an object that is carried or worn on a person or placed in a location in order to draw specific energy or luck toward that person or location.

Book of Shadow

A Book of Shadows is a Witch's journal. It contains notes on experiments, information they picked up along the way, spells, recipes, correspondences, chants, traditions and more.

Coven

A coven is a community of witches who gather regularly for religious and/or social occasion.

Divination

Divination is the metaphysical work of finding the truth of an issue by using symbols and objects to interpret messages from the the collective unconscious or from communication with spirit beings.

Evoke

To call or summon a spirit or entity or deity.

Familiar

A familiar is a magic-user's spiritual helper manifest in animal form.

Grimoire

Is a magical manual or a magician's instruction book. It is much more formal than a Book of Shadows.

Hex

It refer to an unfriendly spell meant to bring about mischief.

Invoke

to summon or draw a spirit being into your own body. This is usually done to encourage communication between the spirit world and the material world.

Sachet

A small bag of herbs, crystals, or other objects that is meant to bring about a desired effect; essentially acts as a charm.

Ward

A protective barrier may be maintained by a spell, a talisman, a symbol or some other physical or energy object.

Aphrodite, you've won me over.

I had only worked with Aphrodite very briefly in the past and I think she guided me to healing through my first "breakup", but yesterday she completely won me over.

A friend of mine irl asked me to perform a spell to make her love life a bit more fruitful while we were hanging out with a group. We were at my house so we had all my supplies, so we did some group meditation and a bit of spell work, in which I asked for Aphrodite's blessing. This was 3 days ago now.

This spell was SUPPOSED to help my friend, but the whole time I felt such a warm presence encircling me, ESPECIALLY during meditation, and it ended up working in MY favor. Last night I was working and the cutest guy ever came into my store (I had seen him before and we've chatted but he was a lot nicer/intimate this time) and he asked me for my number!

This is NOT a common occurrence for me and we texted basically all night. I genuinely think that Aphrodite put this man in my path, and I couldn't be happier.

Just wanted to share a cool coinky-dink (coincidence) (or fate!) that happened this week. I've been listening to the Comfy Cozy Witch podcast by Jennie Blonde on Spotify (linked below) , and in the first few episodes she talked about the fox family that lives behind her house in the woods. I thought that was so cool as I adore foxes but NEVER see them as I live in an urban-ish suburban area. I was on a walk with my friends in said suburbs and I SAW A FOX, CLEAR AS DAY. What was a fox doing there??? I obviously freaked out and was giving thanks for encountering this beautiful fox (thank you, Dionysus) and for finding Jennie's podcast in the first place!

I genuinely adore her podcast, it's just as she describes it; Comfy, Cozy, and Witchy. It's just the right amount of anecdotes and the right amount of information, so isn't overwhelming, but is still so so so useful. DEFINITELY check Jennie's podcast out!

All About Eris!

Hey y'all, welcome to my page! My (craft) name is Eris, and here's some fun info about me, both witchy and otherwise <3

I'm 18 years old and have been practicing witchcraft on and off for about two years, but have only been serious in my craft for about 6 months now. I use they/them or she/her pronouns interchangeably.

I started this blog to connect with my fellow witches (both secular and religious), share my experiences and research, and learn from others!

In specifics to my craft, I consider myself eclectic, meaning I don't specialize in any particular subcategory of witchcraft. I do a number of witch-y hobbies or incorporate my craft into my "regular" hobbies. Including:

Full Moon tomorrow!!!

So excited for April's Full Pink Moon tomorrow evening (23rd)! I ran out of moon water a few days ago and have been dying to make some more, and it's finally time! Remember, full moons are a celebration of what has already come to fruition, what you have accomplished, so be proud of yourself! Even if you did not reach every single goal, you've made it to see another moonrise, and that's worth celebrating! Yes, this is a time to reflect on the past, but not a time to dwell and regret; instead, think of how you wish to move forward from here. Come the New Moon on May 7th, we'll be able to set our new intentions for the month.
