i need to see a trojans vs foxes game for MANY reasons but one of the main one ones is so that neil, kevin, wymack, abby, and renee can see jean playing for a team that makes him happy up close. i need them to see just how far he’s come in only a few months with their own eyes, i need them to see him smile when him and jeremy are connecting on the court, i need jean to joke with neil about his sloppy plays and proceed to say one of his teammates are far better than him, i need kevin to pull jeremy aside after the game and thank him for taking a chance on jean and being the reason he’s smiling again… all of this only being possible because of not only their efforts to save jean, but because jean also took a chance on the trojans. he’s started to let them in and to view them as more than just people to help secure a win. he’s began to see them as his friends, his safety, his team, and he’s just so happy to have not given up when everyone kept pushing him down. the foxes need to see him in this light.

something about jean dying in all the other drafts really gets me like wdym no one would ever have known how soft and caring he was underneath it all or how he had a sister or how he put away the leftovers without asking and cared enough to ask about the safety of someone he barely knew and how he was desperate to love and be loved all along. ofcourse kevin and renee and neil wouldn't have forgotten him but they did not know all the pieces of who he was and what he survived and what he was trying to be, in his heart of hearts. jeremy will know, eventually. but what if he never did? what if no one ever ended up truly knowing him and loving him and saving him? would they piece the deepest parts of his heart by the postcards and magnets and memories of a too soft boy in a too cruel world?

I gotta say i find it insane that Nora has never delved into the fandom's headcanons or fanfics for Jean, Jeremy and the Trojan's and yet the interpretation and characterisations we had for them all this time are scarily similar to how she made them. Like that's crazy to me. There were parts of the story where i was like i have read so many iterations of this in fanfic or even my own drafted fic i was like this is freakishly similar wtf. It's beautiful. We did it. All these years. We kept them alive and added fuel to their fire till Nora came and gave us something real.

im thinking about that one scene in tsc where lucas is like "unsurprising the ravens would recruit a gangsters son" (referring to neil) and cody quickly reminds him no one knew who neil was when he went to evermore so SURELY the ravens didn't know.

the most painful part of tsc for me was this btw. it's about giving up after trying so hard to hold on. it's about jealousy and what ifs and horrible, horrible feelings. it's about what it means to be alive. about what it means to be human.

The thing that really strikes me in tsc is that Jean still believes in the 'Perfect Court'. He seems to truly think that Andrew should join them and that Grayson doesn't deserve a place. He refuses to remove his number, not only out of fear, but because he feels he has earned it.

He says as much, repeatedly: I am Jean Moreau. I am perfect Court.

But the Perfect Court is a fallacy. It was never truly about being the best players or playing for the US National team together — It was about marking Riko as number one, and the others as lesser than. It was about Riko marking his property.

Until Jean learns to let go of that lie, he will continue to cling to his number. I hope we see him remove the tattoo marring his face in tsc2 because I need him to understand that he is so much more than property.

He is Jean-Yves Moreau. He is more than what has been done to him. He is a good man.
