Femme Fatale Guide: Tips For Mindful, Healthy Eating
Be mindful of the foods you keep at home: While I'm not a fan of restriction (especially of entire macronutrients), know yourself well enough to help yourself prevent binging on trigger foods that you start overeating when stressed, tired, etc. My rule of thumb is if I would be uncomfortable having 2 servings of something in a sitting, it doesn't belong in my fridge/freezer/pantry. Keep those treats for socializing or outside of the home.
Discover a selection of healthy meals, snacks, and staple items you love: Physical, nutritional, and emotional satisfaction are all essential to keep your cravings in check. Consider the 5 or so lunches/dinners you love and 1-3 breakfast options, at least 1-2 sweet and savory snacks (like fruit, popcorn, edamame, etc.) to create a simple rotation to keep you satisfied throughout the week. Experiment with different recipes/produce/spices/low sugar & low-fat condiments and seasonings to find what combinations taste the best to you.
Check-in with yourself before eating: Ensure that you're eating due to true hunger rather than feelings of boredom, stress, sadness, etc. If you have the urge to emotionally eat, try to get moving by shaking your arms, dancing around your room, taking a walk, etc. for at least 5-10 minutes before considering getting something to eat.
Enjoy mindful eating: Eat with as few distractions as possible. Take your time to enjoy the food. Take small bites, put your utensils down between bites, and chew slowly. Check in with yourself throughout the eating experience to reconnect with your hungry cues as you get through the plate or bowl of food. See if your hunger is decreasing and how full you feel throughout the experience. Make eating its own separate and enjoyable activity whenever possible.
Have indulgent teas, coffees, and fruit water on hand: Eat if you're truly hungry. But, for the times you're bored or stressed, having a vanilla or cinnamon tea, a cup of cold brew, or a lemon/fruit-infused water can satisfy your desire for some palette simulation
Don't get into a binge-restrict cycle: Allow yourself to eat when you're truly hungry, otherwise, you will overcompensate at a later date. A good litmus test to see if you're truly hungry is to reflect on whether multiple food options could satisfy your current desire for food. If only one food or unhealthy options sound desirable, you're probably experiencing a craving rather than true hunger.
Stay hydrated & get enough sleep: Drinking enough water and a full night's rest are essential to prevent energy crashes that increase your hunger and decrease your inhibitions to give into stress binges or choose unhealthy options. Always keep a glass of water by your side when working, watching TV, etc. to prevent dehydration or a general lack of fluids. Give yourself a loose sleep schedule with an hour or so grace period for your ideal bedtime and wake-up time for the workweek and the weekends.
Ensure you're meeting all of your vitamin requirements: Your body will naturally feel sluggish and more susceptible to cravings if you're not getting enough of certain nutrients on a regular basis. I always supplement with B12 and vitamin D as someone who's been vegan for over a decade. Make sure your diet incorporates nutrients like iron, magnesium, and zinc (common nutrient deficiencies).

Hi!! I wonder if I can ask for a caregiver! Larissa x little!reader, maybe like r has a cold and is stressed w school at the same time but didn't want to bother Larissa, but she finds out anyway and it's just some soft comfort and reassurance? :)
Sick little love
Larissa Weems x little!reader
Tumblr media
A/n: actually wrote this while I was sick, I love it cuz it’s actually so me when I’m sick. I hope you like it!
Warnings: mentions of medication, sick r (just common cold), mentions of food
✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦
You felt like death the second you woke up, honestly! You had so much to do and since your mind and body are apparently so in zinc it also happens that you got sick. Now it wasn’t anything horrible, just a common cold, scratchy throat and maybe a light fever. Nothing you haven’t dealt with before.
When you woke up Larissa was already gone off to work, so that gave you the great illusion that you could somehow in the span of 8 hours get better and not be sick by the time Larissa was back. And also have all your work done, simple!
Everything just got more complicated when you regressed. You could handle being sick while big but while you were regressed? It was absolute hell, plus this took away your ability to get school work done so out the window went that part of the plan.
Your dramatic little mind decided that if you were gonna die (sure, from the common cold.) it would be in bed cuddled up and hidden from the world, with a tone of snacks and your favorite shows of course.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You spent the entire day half conscious, most of the time you were sleeping and the rest mindlessly watching a plethora of different shows and videos to keep you entertained. Was that the most responsible on your part? Maybe not. Should you have called Larissa? Maybe!
But you really didn’t want to bother her if you were just going to spend the day sleeping anyways. Forgetting the fact that you should probably be watching your temperature, getting proper meals and maybe taking some meds you were doing quite good for yourself.
You were absolutely baffled when you heard Larissa come home, did a whole 8 hours pass without you ever noticing? There’s no way. When you checked the time it was only 12pm, Larissa got off at 3 so what was she doing here? Your doubts were cleared up the moment she made her way into the room.
It didn’t take much of a genius to figure out your state. The bed was a mess and your pile of stuffies that was supposed be on the chair next to the bed were all with you, the tv was blasting with some kids show you don’t even remember putting on and the box of tissues next to the bed proved your attempt to control your cold.
“I would’ve asked you to explain why you’ve been absent in every class but I think I’ve seen enough, there comes my next question.” Larissa made her way to you side. Sitting on the edge of the bed and checking your temperature. “You poor thing. Why didn’t you call to tell me, my little love?”
The second she sat on the bed you threw yourself on her. You really really wanted to be held and babied right now. Larissa was quick to pull you into her lap and cuddle you close. “m didn wana bother you” you pouted.
“You could never bother me, sweetheart. I’m here to love and care for you in any way I can, specially if you’re sick and even more so when you’re small.” She cupped your face making you look at her.
“Have you had anything for your allergies or fever, my love?” you shook your head, you’ve always hated medicine, they’re hard to drink and if their liquid they taste horrible, absolutely nobody could get you to willingly take any of that. “make sleepy n I hav work!!”
“Oh do you now? Well momma will help you with all your work after you take your medicine and your nap.” you were expecting that half excuse to somehow work. “Come on, little love, we’ll fix you something to eat so you can take them.” There was really no arguing against her now, so you reluctantly followed behind her to the kitchen.
✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦
After you had a light meal and got your meds, Larissa helped you into the bath. You hadn’t regressed that small so she just kept tabs on you regularly and continued on with whatever she was doing.
After about 20 minutes she called you to come out. You giggled as she dried your hair and helped you getting into comfy clothes for even more sleeping, which of course you had no complains about.
“How are you feeling, sweetheart?” she asked while tucking you into bed, “sleepy!” you huffed our like that was your only issue in that moment and she chuckled. “Yes little love we knew that was going to happen, I’m asking about your cold.”
You made grabby hands her way and she complied getting into bed immediately getting attacked with cuddles, “m beters” you sleepily answered, curling up at her side. “Alright darling, rest up, I’ll be right here when you wake.”
You made grabby hands her way and she complied getting into bed immediately getting attacked with cuddles, “m beters” you sleepily answered, curling up at her side. “Alright darling, rest up, I’ll be right here when you wake.”

Health: Misconceptions with Anemia and "Iron Deficiency"
Iron Absorption & Utilization
Simply taking iron supplements often doesn't cure anemia.
Proper absorption and utilization of iron involve many processes.
1/3 of the population has trouble absorbing and utilizing iron; it's considered the most common nutritional disorder in the world.
Anemia is usually about iron dysregulation, not deficiency.
Iron supplements or injections tend to circulate excessively, potentially causing toxicity.
Iron overload strains the iron recycling system and the liver.
Liver plays a key role in regulating iron uptake.
Iron doesn't regulate itself; it's copper-dependent.
Copper is essential for ceruloplasmin, a protein that mobilizes iron from tissues into the blood. Without copper, iron accumulates in tissue leading to inflammation and tissue damage which can develop into others issues like heart or liver disease and diabetes with increased risk of infection and cancer.
Retinol (Vitamin A) enhances iron absorption and influences genes regulating iron metabolism.
Iron Testing
CBC can detect anemia but it can't necessarily tell you the cause.
Serum ferritin doesn't give a true measure of iron stores.
Approximately 70% of iron is found in hemoglobin, around 20-25% is stored as ferritin and hemosiderin in tissues, about 5% is in myoglobin and enzymes, and roughly 0.1% as serum iron.
For accurate assessment, consider all containers of iron including hemoglobin, serum iron, and ferritin, as well as non-iron markers such as zinc, copper, and vitamins A & D.
The only direct way to measure iron stores is to keep removing blood until anemia sets in, then account for the iron deficit and dietary iron consumed during this time.
Sources (meat, liver, and seafood)
Copper: liver, nuts, molasses, oats, bee pollen, shellfish, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, acerola cherry powder, shilajit.
Retinol (Vitamin A): liver, other organ meats, egg yolk, seafood, fish liver oils, dairy products.
Other Insights
Phytates in plants can hinder non-heme iron absorption but vitamin C helps to counteract these inhibitory effects.
Over-supplementing with zinc can cause copper deficiency since copper and zinc need to be in balance.
There are many causes of anemia beyond "iron deficiency", such as vitamin B12 deficiency.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded in 1934 to George Whipple, George Minot, and William Murphy for their discoveries related to liver therapy in cases of anemia.
Other studies have supported incorporating beef liver (which contains copper, iron, zinc, vitamin A and D) into the diet.
The key is to have food that isn't concentrated on a certain vitamin or mineral but provides a mixture of what we need in a way that our body can properly absorb without inhibiting effects.
Men are naturally higher in iron than women and women are naturally higher in copper than men (estrogen levels contribute to the production of copper).
Female menstruation is why iron deficiency anemia is more common among women.
Signs of anemia include fatigue, pale complexion, blurred vision, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, cold hands and feet, scanty menstruation, numbness, insomnia, poor memory, dry skin, brittle nails, vertical ridges on nails, muscle twitches, shortness of breath, chest pain, headache, swollen or sore tongue, unusual cravings, restless legs.

My common cold regimen.
Preventative:
- take normal daily supplements of vitamin d and zinc (I neglected the vit d in the past weeks and I think this is my punishment -_-)
From first sign of symptoms:
- consume insane amounts of ginger infused tea
- take increased dosage of zinc (studies recommend 80-90mg per day; however after that i would stop taking it for a while because chronic high zinc supplementation isn't good)
- rinse nose with warm salt water multiple times daily
- aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen as needed for symptom relief, but keep to minimum
- at night: 500mg aspirin or paracetamol + 15mg doxylaminesuccinate (this is basically the nyquil formula but I take it as pills because I have them around anyway)
- rest and chill as possible -_-
Not medical advice. Some of these actually are supported by studies, some are dubious and personal, and frankly I don't know if it does anything except for symptom relief but it makes me feel in control <3

Happy International Can-It-Forward Day!
Well, technically International Can-It-Forward Day is August 1st, but we're getting started a day early. To celebrate, this week we're bringing to you some books on canning and food preserving from our foodways and cookery collections.
Tumblr media
To start, we have the Ball Blue Book of Home Canning, Preserving & Freezing (1949) by the Ball Corporation, the patrons of Can-It-Forward Day and an early creator of mason jars and other home canning supplies.
The book gets started with a vocabulary lesson of jar anatomy, food descriptions, and common hazards in food preserving chemistry:
Tumblr media
The next lesson gives more in depth information on molds, yeast, bacteria, and enzymes. We thought the little guys were cute!
Tumblr media
Of course, can't make a book about canning and preserving without some product advertisement!
Tumblr media
And, lastly, a sample recipe for canning peaches:
Tumblr media
Image transcripts are below the cut.

Image 2: Home Canning Vocabulary for Homemakers
FRUIT JAR is the traditional name for a glass jar made for use in home canning. There are two styles available:
The Mason jar has a screw thread neck and a sloping shoulder. It seals on the top or on a sealing shoulder, depending upon the type of cap used.
The Can or Freez jar is a tapered, shoulderless jar which may be used for either home canning or freezing. It seals on the top with a two piece metal cap.
JAR CAP is the cover used to seal a jar. There are two styles available:
The two-piece metal cap (example, Ball Mason Dome Cap) is a lid and screw band combination. The lid is fitted with a rubber sealing compound, and no other rubber is needed. The lid is used once only. The band may be reused with a new lid.
The one-piece zinc cap is lined with white porcelain. It is used with Mason jars and rubber rings.
JAR LID is a shallow cover of metal.
METAL BAND is a screw thread band that is used with a metal lid to form a two-piece metal cap.
JAR RUBBER is a flat rubber ring which is used as a gasket between a zinc cap and the jar.
COLD or RAW PACK is a method of filling jars. The jars are filled with raw food, then the filled jars are processed.
HOT PACK is a method of filling jars. The jars are filled with hot food. then the filled jars are processed.
PROCESSING is the cooking of jars of food in a water-bath canner or a steam-pressure canner for a long enough time to destroy bacteria, enzymes, molds and yeasts.
LOW-ACID FOODS are foods which con-tain very little natural acid. Examples of low-acid foods are all vegetables except tomatoes and meats, poultry, sea foods and soups.
ACID FOODS are foods which normally contain from 0.36 to 2.35 or more per cent natural acid, and foods which are Preserved in vinegar. Examples of acid foods are fruits, rhubarb, tomatoes, sauer-kraut, pickles and relishes.
VENTING or EXHAUSTING is forcing air to escape from a jar or permitting air to escape from a steam-pressure canner.
VACUUM SEAL is the absence of normal atmospheric (air) pressure in jars which are airtight. When a jar is closed at room temperature, the atmospheric pressure is the same inside and outside the jar. When the jar is heated, everything in it expands and air is forced out, then the pressure in-side the jar becomes less than that on the outside. As the jar cools, everything in it shrinks. a partial vacuum forms, and atmospheric pressure of almost 15 pounds Per square inch (at sea level) holds the lid down to keep the jar sealed. The red rubber sealing compound on Ball Mason Dome Lids, and the rubber rings used with zinc caps. keep air from going back into sealed jars.
BACTERIA, MOLDS and YEASTS are low forms of plant life known to scientists as microorganisms. These microorganisms are found in vegetable (growing) form or spore (seed) form. They exist everywhere —in the air, in water and in the soil. When they are not destroyed by cooking. they will grow in canned food and cause it to spoil.
ENZYMES are natural substances found in all fruits. meats and vegetables. If they are not destroyed by cooking. they will cause changes in the color, texture and flavor of canned food.
BOTULISM is a poisoning caused by a toxin. The toxin is produced by the growth of spores of Clostridium botulinum in a sealed jar. Spores of Clostridium botulinum are carried from one place to another by dust, wind and the soil clinging to raw foods. These spores can grow in a tightly sealed jar of any low-acid food because they belong to a species of bacteria which cannot grow in the presence of air and which does not normally thrive in acid foods. The spores are destroyed when low-acid foods are correctly processed in a steam-pressure canner which is in good working order. Home canners who use the correct methods of selecting, preparing, packing and processing foods have no reason to worry about botulism. As an extra precaution, all low-acid foods should be boiled for 15 minutes be-fore tasting in order to destroy any toxin which could be present if some error were made in processing. Thick masses, such as greens, should be stirred while boiling.
FLAT-SOUR is the most common type of spoilage in canned vegetables. It is caused by bacteria which give food an unpleasant, sourish flavor. Flat-sour is avoided by the use of correct methods of selecting. handling, preparing, packing, processing and cooling foods.
MOLD may change the flavor of the food, but is not considered harmful when a few flecks are present on top of canned fruit, jelly or preserves. A heavy growth of mold is a warning not to use the food.
FERMENTATION of canned food is caused by yeasts which have not been destroyed during processing or yeasts which enter the jar before it is sealed. With the exception of some pickles, fermented food should not be used If pickles be-gin to ferment in the jar and some of the liquid runs out, the pickles should be rinsed and packed in clean hot jars, fresh pickling solution should be made and poured boiling hot over the pickles and the jars processed in a water-bath canner to prevent further fermentation.
Image 3: Here are some tips on destroying the MOLDS, YEAST, BACTERIA and ENZYMES that could spoil your canning and preserving
WE ARE . . . Microorganisms which are found in the soil, in the water, in the air and on all surfaces with which we come in contact. If we are not destroyed by heat during processing canned foods, we cause the food to spoil: and. if the jar is not sealed when stored away we sneak into the jar and cause spoilage.
We, the molds, form fuzzy patches on food. We the yeasts, cause food to ferment. BOTH of us thrive on fruits and tomatoes and also on jams. jellies and pickles. We are easily destroyed by heat so the acid foods can be processed at a temperature of 212°F in a boiling water bath canner.
Our friends, the bacteria, give food an unnatural flavor called flat sour, and they cause food to become soft and slimy. Bacteria prefer the low acid foods—vegetables and meats. Some of them are very hard to destroy, so the low acid foods must be processed at 240°F. in a steam pressure canner.
(Image: Drawing of molds, yeasts, and bacteria with angry faces)
(Image: Drawing of a man looking through a microscope at a large, scowling creature)
WHAT ARE ENZYMES?
We are chemical substances found in all plants and animals If uncooked foods are not used while fresh. We cause changes in color. texture and flavor If we are NOT destroyed by heat during processing, we cause the same changes in canned foods
(Image: Drawing of two men in a chemistry lab)
MANY FACTORS AFFECT HOW LONG FOOD HAS TO BE PROCESSED IN ORDER TO… DESTROY US
Not only the acidity of the food and the temperatures under which the foods are processed. but also how many of us microorganisms are present in the food and how quickly the heat penetrates to the center of the jai Consequently. to insure we are destroyed. we suggest you follow the recommended methods and times for processing each food as found in the Blue Book. And please remember to check the jars you have sealed before storing them away in a cool dark place ready for use later in the year.
(Image: eight Ball mason jars of various sizes)
Image 4: How to Use Ball Jars and Fittings
(Image: Drawing of two Ball mason jars of different heights with their lids off)
BALL MASON JARS
Examine jars with fingertips for nicks. chips and cracks in sealing surface.
Discard ones unsuitable for canning.
Wash jars in hot soapy water and rinse well.
Do not use wire brushes, steel wool or washing soda for cleaning jars; they are apt to damage glass.
Place in hot water until ready to fill. It is not necessary to boil jars in which food is to be processed.
Seal with Ball Mason Dome Caps or zinc caps and rubber rings. Follow directions for filling and sealing according to fittings being used.
A sudden change of temperature is apt to cause any jar to break. Never put a hot jar on a cold surface or in a draft. Never Pour boiling liquid into a cool jar.
BALL CAN OR FREEZ JARS
To use for canning following step-by-step instructions for Ball Mason Jars.
For jellies, jams, conserves, marma-lades, preserves, see instructions for each section. The sections are listed in table of contents and in the index.
Ball Can or Freez Jars may also be used for canning pick/es or relishes.
Information for use in freezing, read instructions on page 95 at the beginning of the Freezer Section.
BALL MASON DOME CAPS
Examine top and edges of jar: both must be smooth and even. Old jars were made for shoulder sealing: consequently, the top finish is usually unsuitable for top sealing with Ball Mason Dome Caps.
Wash and rinse lids and bands. Cover lids with water. Bring to simmer (180°F.). Remove from heat. Leave in water until ready to use (Image: drawing of water being poured into a mason jar)
Fill hot jar. Leave 1-inch head space for meats, corn, peas and other low-acid foods; 1/2-inch head space for fruits and acid vegetables. Add liquid to completely cover food solids. Leave 1A-inch head space for juices, preserves. pickles and relishes: Ya-inch head space for jellies.
Remove air bubbles from fruit and vegetable packs by running table knife between food and jar.
Wipe top and screw threads of jar with clean, damp cloth. Put lid on jar. compound next to glass. sealing
Screw band tight but do not use force. Band must screw down evenly all the way around.
Process immediately. using and method for product being canned.
Remove jars from canner. Do not tighten bands after processing Test for seal.
Store without bands. right time
BALL ZINC CAPS
Use new rubber rings. Wash caps and rubbers in hot soapy water Rinse. Keep rubbers wet until needed. If zinc caps have been used. boil them for 15 minutes.
Before filling jar. stretch wet rubber just enough to place flat on sealing shoulder.
See step 3 under Ball Mason Dome Caps for amount of head space to leave when filling jars.
Remove air bubbles from fruit and vegetable packs by running table knife be-tween food and jar.
Wipe top surface of rubber and threads of jar with clean. damp cloth.
Screw cap tight. then loosen about inch.
Process immediately. using right time and method for product being canned.
Remove jars from canner. Slowly screw caps tight . quick turns may cause the rubbers to slip.
Let jars cool about 12-24 hours. Check seal .. if top of cap is low in center, jar is sealed. Do not tighten cap after jar has cooled.
(Image: Drawing of three mason jars with a diamond pattern)
BALL QUILTED CRYSTAL JARS CANNING
Quilted Crystal Jars may be used for canning. Follow directions for using Ball Mason Jars. For preparation of caps follow instructions for Ball Mason Dome Caps.
BALL QUILTED CRYSTAL JARS FREEZING
Quilted Crystal Jars may be used for freezing. Follow directions for preparing Ball Can or Freez Jars on page 95. Excellent for Freezer Jams.
(Image: Drawing of two jelly glasses with a diamond pattern)
BALL QUILTED CRYSTAL JELLY GLASSES
Follow instructions given for jelly glasses in Jelly Section. Sealing with Paraffin -use only for jelly. Do not try to process in canner Lid is only cover and does not seal airtight to obtain vacuum seal
(Image: Drawing of a person testing a mason jar lid according to the instructions below)
HOW TO TEST SEALS OF TWO-PIECE CAP
When jars of food are thoroughly cool. 12-24 hours:
Press center of lid; if lid is down and will not move. jar is sealed Remove band, wipe threads with damp cloth, store.
Or tap the center of the lid with a spoon. A clear ringing sound means a good seal Remove band. wipe threads with damp cloth Store in cool, dark, dry place
Check for airtight seal by tilting the jar slightly. If there is no leakage. remove band. wipe jar clean and store in cool, dark, dry place.
Image 5: Canning Peaches...Step by Step
The raw (cold) pack is shown on these pages. When using Ball Zinc Caps and Mason Jars, prepare, pack and process as shown here.
(Note: each step has an image showing what is described.)
Check jars. Be sure there are no nicks, cracks or sharp edges.
Wash and rinse jars and caps. Leave jars in hot water until ready to use.
Sort, wash and drain only enough firm-ripe peaches for one canner load. Fill water-bath canner handful with hot water. Put canner on to heat. Prepare sugar sirup.
Put peaches in wire basket or cheese cloth. Dip peaches into boiling water 1/2 to 1 minute to loosen skins. Dip into cold water. Drain.
Cut peaches into halves, put and peel. Drop halves into salt-vinegar water (2 tablespoons each to 1 gallon of cold water). Rinse before packing.
Stand hot jar on rubber tray, wood or cloth. Pack peaches, cavity side down, layers overlapping. Leave 1/2-inch head space.
Cover peaches with boiling hot sirup, leaving 1/2-inch head space. It will take 1 to 1 1/2 cups sirup for each quart jar.
Run table knife gently between fruit jar to release air bubbles. Add more sirup if needed.
Wipe top and threads of jar with clean, damp cloth. Put lid on, screw band tight...it must screw down evenly to hold red rubber seal compound against jar top.
As each jar is filled, stand it on rack in canner. Water should be hot, but not boiling. If needed, add more water to cover jars 1 to 2 inches. Put cover on canner.
Bring water to a boil. At altitudes less than 1,000 feet above sea level process pints 25 minutes, quarts 30 minutes, at a gentle but steady boil.
Remove jars from canner. Let cool for about 12 hours. Test for seal. Remove bands. Store without bands.

The cold I have currently is unusual. I have trouble comparing to previous symptom sets, but...
I think normally my throat hurts and/or I'm sniffling a lot, and I don't really have either of those. I'm croaky but not in a painful way, and my nose is conjested but not runny, I'm not blowing it a lot. Occasionally I dry cough or sneeze but like, only a handful of times a day.
I'm having more bowel movements than normal, and they're looser than normal, but it's not to the point it could be called diarrhea. I think this is... not common, but I've had it before.
I think I usually have brain fog, but I don't notice it this time. I'm a bit sleepy, and I wouldn't be shocked if I'm actually functioning below average or having a bit of trouble focusing, but it's not obvious. My last two evenings have been more productive than I've had in a long time.
And the other thing is that there was a very sudden onset. I was with a friend on tuesday, and suddenly my throat was tickling. I had a zinc when I got home, I think maybe it felt different than normal somehow. I'm not sure I even bothered with one the next morning.
I'm not ruling out that it's secretly covid, but I've tested negative two days running, and I don't think it matches my previous covid symptoms either. (Not that I remember those in much detail...)

Boosting Your Immune Mechanism: The Role Of Supplements In Staying Well
Tumblr media
Immunity is a vital part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It aids us to fight against infections, pathogens and harmful chemicals. Stress, bad nutrition or sleep patterns, as well as exposure to toxic substances can cause a decline in our immune system and increase the risk of illness. Fortunately, there are many supplements available that can help improve the immune system and keep our bodies healthy. This article will discuss the significance of immune support supplements in this post.
Immune System: Understanding Immune System
The immune system comprises an intricate network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to shield the body from dangerous pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungal infections. The immune system is composed of two primary parts: the innate immune system as well as the adaptive immune system.
The immune system in itself is your body's initial defence against infections. The innate immune system includes physical barriers, such as the skin and mucous tissues. It also includes cells such as the white blood cells (NK cells) capable of recognize and kill pathogens.
The adaptive immune system activated whenever the natural immune system is not able to eliminate the pathogen completely. It includes specialized cells, such as B cells and T cells that recognize and remember pathogens that are specific to them, permitting the body to develop an effective and faster reaction if confronted with that same pathogen in the future.
Common nutrient deficiencies that affect the immune system
Nutrition plays a critical role in supporting the immune system. Selenium, Vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D are all nutrients that have been shown to be essential for our immune system. Most people do not get sufficient nutrients and this can lead to a weaker immune system.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant is a key component within the body's immune system. It assists in protecting cells against damage and supports the production of antibodies. The foods that contain high levels of vitamin C include fruit and berries with citrus bell peppers and kiwi.
Vitamin D is another nutrient that plays a critical part in the immune system. It assists in activating immune cells, and aids in the creation of antimicrobial proteins. Cold, Flu, COVID Season’s Here: How About Having More Sex?
Just one more reason to get your cuffing season partner ASAP, chile.
Shellie R. WarrenOct. 06, 2021 02:21PM EST
Tumblr media
Here we are. Right on the brink of cold, flu and COVID season combined. And who would've thought that when it comes to proactively fighting these viruses as well as combating some of the symptoms that come right along with them, having sex would be a truly effective, all-natural and totally satisfying remedy?
Before getting into that, though, I think it's important to put on record that while the cold, flu and COVID are all viruses, they are not one and the same. While I'm pretty sure you hear about what makes COVID, well, the way that it is ad nauseum (you can check out some CDC info here), as you're navigating through things like fevers, sore throats, coughing, congestion, headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath and other things that can make being sick an absolute nightmare, it's important to keep in mind that while a cold and the flu are both respiratory viruses, the flu has much more severe symptoms.
Not only that but the first 3-4 days are when you typically catch the brunt of it all with colds and the flu taking 1-2 weeks to fully get past. It's also important to keep in mind that if you happen to have a fever, chills and a load of fatigue, that is usually not a common cold; that's usually the flu; however, if you're not exactly sure, you can always make an appointment to see your doctor (because again, COVID).
Now with all of that out of the way, how in the world does copulation (and/or oral sex) prove to be just about as effective as "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Sit tight. You might just be surprised.
Sex Lowers Your Stress Levels
There's nothing good that comes from being stressed out all of the time. That's why I'm such a huge supporter of people being extremely proactive when it comes to balancing out the stress triggers that are in their life. That said, I'm pretty sure it comes as no shocker to you that when you are stressed, it can compromise your immune system (more on that in just a sec). When that happens, your body can actually produce flu-like symptoms (ugh). That's the bad news. The good news is when you have sex, it raises your endorphin and oxytocin levels which are both feel-good hormones. Sex also has the ability to lower your cortisol (your natural stress hormone) levels as well as your blood pressure — and when it comes to managing stress, that is always a good thing.
Sex Boosts Your Immunity
There is absolutely no way that you can fight off viruses that lead to sickness if your immune system is shot. One way you can do that is by checking out the article, "Ready To Try 10 Quick & Easy Immune-Boosting Hacks?" on our site. Matter of fact, one of the points in it happens to give sex a big ole' shout-out. While it's kind of a long and scientific tale, the main reason why sex is so great for your immunity is because it helps your system to produce the kind of antibodies that are able to fight off viruses, bacteria and other germs that could lead to you not feeling very well. So, if you've not been making sex much of a priority these days, here's a really solid reason why you should definitely consider doing so.
Sperm/Semen Is a Multivitamin
An article that I wrote for the site a couple of years ago that received quite a bit of traction was, "Do You Swallow? The Unexpected Health Benefits Of Sperm". While I know that going down/giving head may not be everybody's cup of tea (check out "Sooo...What If You HATE Oral?"), there's absolutely no way around the fact that sperm and semen (the fluid that carries sperm) are literally like a multivitamin. They're packed with protein, vitamins B12 and C, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium, citrate, sugar, sodium, melatonin and more with a teaspoon of it equaling to around a stick of gum (five or so calories).
Since sperm/semen also contain oxytocin and progesterone, not only can they help to strengthen your immune system, they can help to get — or keep — you in a good mood too. Sperm/semen also have a great reputation for helping to decrease depression-related symptoms, speed up the healing process of wounds, fight aging signs, reduce inflammation and increase your overall lifespan. Plus, since the cold nor the flu can be spread via sexual fluids (sperm, semen or vaginal fluids), that's one more reason to consider giving sperm/semen a shot (pun intended); especially as a "intercourse alternative" until you're up to feeling better.
Kissing Increases Your Immunoglobulin A (IgA) Levels
If you like to kiss a lot and you rarely ever get sick, there could be a correlation between the two. Something that is located within the mucous membranes of your lungs, sinuses, stomach, intestines and bodily fluids are antibodies known as Immunoglobulin A (IgA). These are cool because they help your body to get better at fighting off illnesses.
So, when you and your partner exchange saliva, you are actually increasing each other's IgA levels. There are even studies which cite that having sex 1-2 times a week can significantly boost your IgA levels too. Crazy, huh?
Orgasms Can Clear Up Congestion
Are you someone who fakes orgasms? If so, this is a good reason to quit — right here and right now. Believe it or not, experiencing an orgasm can help to clear up a clogged up nose! While scientists and medical professionals are still trying to unpack exactly why this is the case, what they believe is, going through all of the phases of an orgasm — excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution — can work together to help to clear out your nasal passages. And since a stuffy nose is one of the most annoying things about being sick, this is definitely some pretty good food for thought.
Orgasms Are a Natural Pain Reliever
Remember how I gave a shout-out to endorphins earlier in this piece? Another benefit that comes from them is they're a natural painkiller. So, whenever you are touched or touched, that helps to stimulate the release of them. In fact, there is plenty of data to support that sex helps to reduce the discomfort that is associated with headaches and even migraines. Sex can help to soothe body aches too. So, if you happen to be someone who tries and avoids sex when your head is pounding, according to science, it's something that you actually should be totally open to running to instead of away from. Let me tell it, it beats the hell outta Advil and NyQuil. Maybe that's just me, though.
Certain Positions Can Reduce the Chance of Spreading Germs
Even though viruses like colds and the flu cannot be spread via sexual fluids, they can when someone coughs or sneezes (which is why still wearing a mask during this pandemic is so important). That's why you can definitely still run the risk of getting your partner sick if you decide to have sex while you are contagious (which is around two weeks with a cold or COVID and 3-7 days for the flu). Still, if you want to be able to get into some of the benefits that sex provides after the first few days of falling ill, the key is to get into positions where you and your partner aren't exactly face to face like spooning, doggy style and/or reverse cowgirl.
Sex Improves Your Quality of Sleep
One way that you can definitely make yourself vulnerable when it comes to catching a virus is not getting enough sleep ("getting enough" means sleeping no less than 6-8 hours every night, not every once in a while). That's because a result of sleep deprivation is a weakened immune system and, as we already addressed, the worse off your immune system is, the more susceptible you are to falling ill. I think we all can attest to the fact that a good round of sex can produce some of the best sleep EVER. That's because sex increases hormones like oxytocin, prolactin, progesterone, endorphins and dopamine — all of which help you to feel really good as they relax your system and calm your mind as well.
Like I said, virus 2.0 season is right in our faces (pun intended); that's unavoidable. But if you're open to having more sex than usual, you literally increase your chances of avoiding them. I can't think of a more gratifying, pleasurable and rewarding way to do it either. I really can't.

How to have self control with things like food and stuff❤️
Hi love! Here are some of my tips:
Hope this helps xx

What is an aluminum alloy window?
Tumblr media
Regarding window materials, aluminum alloy is often overlooked in favour of wood and vinyl. However, aluminum alloy has many benefits that make it an excellent choice for energy-efficient windows. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at what Aluminum alloy windows are and some of their benefits.
Aluminum alloy windows are made from a combination of Aluminum and other metals, such as iron or copper. This makes them more durable than pure aluminum windows and allows for a more excellent range of designs. Aluminum alloy windows are also available in a variety of colours and finishes.
One of the enormous benefits of aluminum alloy windows is that they are highly energy efficient. This is because Aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat and cold. As a result, aluminum alloy windows can help keep your home or office cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills over time.
In addition to being energy efficient, aluminum alloy windows are also very easy to maintain. Unlike wood windows, they will not rot, warp, or swell over time. And unlike vinyl windows, they will not fade or discolour from exposure to sunlight. Aluminum alloy windows also have a smooth surface that is easy to clean and keeps dust-free.
What are the disadvantages of aluminum windows?
In a very extreme climate, some advantages may work as disadvantages, such as:
Conductivity - Aluminum windows are excellent conductors of heat and cold. This means that if you live in extreme climates where temperatures fluctuate frequently, your aluminum windows will be less effective at regulating the temperature inside your home or office. In severe cases, this can even lead to condensation inside your windows.
 2. Expansion and Contraction - Aluminum is such a malleable metal that it is susceptible to expansion and contraction when exposed to extreme temperatures. This can cause your windows to warp and become difficult to open and close.
 3. Lack of Insulation - Another disadvantage of aluminum windows is that they offer very little insulation against noise pollution and extreme weather conditions. If you live in an area with a lot of traffic noise or bad weather, consider another type of window that offers more protection from the elements.
 Conclusion:
Aluminum windows are a popular choice for many homeowners due to their affordability and durability; however, there are a few disadvantages to aluminum windows that you should be aware of before making your purchase.
Nonetheless, If you're looking for energy-efficient windows that are easy to maintain, aluminum alloy windows are a great option. Not only do they offer superior energy efficiency, but they are also very durable and available in a wide range of styles and colours. So contact a local window dealer today to learn more about aluminum alloy windows and see if they're suitable for your home or office.

What is Sea Moss? Benefits, Nutrition, and How to Prepare It
Sea moss is a spiny sea vegetable that’s primarily harvested for use in health supplements and as a thickening ingredient in commercial foods. If you’ve heard about sea moss supplements, you may wonder how you could use them and whether there are other ways to consume sea moss. The newest hidden weapon in your health arsenal may just be the seaweed you stepped over to get into the ocean the last time you were at the beach. Sea moss has been around since the waves first lapped the shore, but it's enjoying a surge in popularity because of its powerful immune-boosting nutrients.
Tumblr media
Sea moss is rich in natural minerals, high in iron, omega 3s, and antioxidants that make it an all-around immunity booster and weight-loss aid, which is why companies are harvesting it from beaches as far off as Ireland and the Caribbean, and consumers are adding it to everything from smoothies to acai bowls and rice and beans. It would be hard to identify one particular plant that has all the vitamins and minerals your body needs, but sea moss comes close: It contains vitamin B2, vitamin B12, calcium, chromium, magnesium, zinc and other nutrients, and has been used as a natural medicine to treat or reduce flu-like symptoms. please go here to this link https://www.theseamossharvest.com/ and know about Sea moss history, Benefits, Nutrition, and How to Prepare It. This article examines the potential benefits and downsides of sea moss, including its nutritional content and how to prepare it.
Sea moss, scientifically known as Chondrus crispus, is a type of algae or seaweed. It grows in waters along the rocky Atlantic coasts, primarily between North America and Europe. It’s an edible sea plant similar to other seaweeds, algae, and other familiar leafy sea vegetables like kelp or dulse. Sea moss grows in a number of colors, such as various shades of green, yellow, purple, red, brown, and black. The most common varieties that grow in the warmer waters are generally red and often called Irish moss (2Trusted Source, 3Trusted Source).
Sea Moss Benefits: Now, if you're wondering more about why sea moss is beneficial to your life, then consider reading our elaboration on the some benefits of using topical sea moss, and taking sea moss supplements such as the one featured above from Elm & Rye... Some supplement companies sell it in raw form, as a gel or powder, or as an oral capsule or gummy. Companies also sell sea moss as a component of supplements combined with turmeric, bladderwrack, and burdock root, claiming this combination benefits overall well-being, especially immunity, thyroid, digestive, and joint health. Sea moss has a long history of use as a food-thickening agent. It’s the only natural source of carrageenan, a thickener that manufacturers use in foods like ice cream, cottage cheese, nondairy milks, and even baby formula
How to prepare it: You can prepare sea moss in a number of ways. Many health food stores and online retailers sell sea moss in its raw, dried form. You can prepare a gel from this at home. educate me abt ragworms professor monty idk what the fuck those are but it cant be a worse learning experience than finding out crabs relations to insects or w/e it was that horrified me when u told me
ragworms! family Nereididae! they're a type of polychaete (poly-keet) worm, which are worms that have lateral outgrowths on each segment called parapodia, which is why lots of marine worms look like they have "legs". The parapodia have bristles made of chitin on them, called chaetae (kee-tay), so polychaetes are also called bristleworms sometimes.
Ragworms are mostly marine and live on the sea floor and typically burrow in sand/mud, especially those that live at shallow depths so they can burrow to keep cold and wet when the tide goes out.
There's over 500 species of Nereididae. Here's Neanthes fucata, which is almost always found sharing a shell with a hermit crab!
Tumblr media
They have four eyes but two of them are big funny anime looking ones
Tumblr media
Usually when im looking at pictures of them though I usually look at Alitta virens, sometimes called King Ragworms coz they can reach 1-3ft long. I usually look at them because when I do visitor day stuff at the univeristy they have a big bucket of them and they won't let me just start grabbing handfulls and I'm mad about it. But they're also very pretty in the right conditions! Many of them are pretty with the right light.
Tumblr media
Here's a video of a very blue one!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE9ANz33LYU
But also the reason I'm not allowed to put my hands in the ragworm bucket is because they bite! Many fishermen dig up live ragworms and store them to use as live bait attest to this. They also say if you get their blood in any cuts on your hands apparently it stings quite a lot, its common anecdotally among fishermen but I've yet to find anything scientific on what it is about their blood that might cause that.
But yeah they bite! They have eversible pharynxes (can push their throat out of their mouth) and they have teeth inside! Their teeth aren't made of calcium but with a type of protein and zinc which makes them tough but not too heavy, supposedly.
Tumblr media
Hope you enjoyed my post on why I should be allowed to put my hands in the university ragworm bucket

What is the best way to get rid of acne?
Tumblr media
What exactly is acne?
Acne is a frequent inflammatory skin disorder. Many business listings there are numerous forms of acne, but the most prevalent is 'acne vulgarism,' which is the acne that causes pimples. Oily skin is common with this form of acne, and the skin can become uncomfortable and heated to the touch. The oil becomes stuck in the pores of our skin, causing inflammation and spots.
What are the causes of acne?
Acne affects almost everyone at some point in their lives, and it isn't just confined to teens; adults are also susceptible to acne.
Acne in teenagers
Hormones are the most prevalent cause of acne in teens. The thickening of 'sebum' might be caused by hormonal shifts as we progress through puberty.
Our skin produces sebum, which is natural oil. When sebum is overly thick, it is difficult for the body to push it up and out of the skin, resulting in clogged pores and pimples business listings.
Acne in adults
Adult acne can be caused by imbalanced hormones, but it is most commonly caused by dietary variables that lead to sebum thickness, excess bacteria, and inflammation. The thickness of sebum and the likelihood of acne can both be reduced by changing your diet.
Acne due to a poor diet
Our skin suffers from a poor diet and vitamin deficits. Toxins will not be expelled through the intestines in a timely manner if we don't eat enough fiber, and they will be pushed out via the skin, adding to inflammation and acne.
Nutrient shortages can also cause hormone abnormalities, which show up on the skin as pimples and irritation free listing.
Acne prevention
Diet
As teens and adults, our nutrition plays a critical part in acne control. We all know we should consume our fruits and veggies, but for acne sufferers, this is especially crucial. Fruit and vegetable nutrients and fibers have a very pleasant and relaxing impact on the skin.
It's also crucial to consume the correct oils in your diet. Inflammation is caused by consuming too many Trans and hydrogenated fats. Other oils, such as cold-pressed oils, nuts and seeds, and omega 3, on the other hand, have an anti-inflammatory effect and can help reduce the incidence of acne.
Face cleansing products made from natural ingredients
Using natural cleaning products that are kind on the environment. Get into a washing practise that helps to keep your pores free, which helps to prevent pimples from forming. Choose items with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
 Acne-friendly foods
Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, which aids in the regulation of testosterone levels in the body. Too much testosterone can lead to blocked pores and heavy sebum. Magnesium and good fats are also found in pumpkin seeds. Magnesium is required for the proper management of insulin and the regulation of blood sugar levels. Acne can be exacerbated by blood sugar levels that are too high or uncontrolled.
Fresh fruit
Vitamin C is found in fresh fruit, and it aids in the treatment of acne in a variety of ways.
Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant and aids in skin healing and restoration. Vitamin C is also required for the synthesis of collagen. Simply boosting your Vitamin C consumption can have a significant impact on the health of your skin and other collagen-dependent bodily components.
Fruit also encourages the formation of beneficial bacteria in your stomach, which has the greatest impact on the health of your skin as an adult. Inflammation can be controlled with a healthy gut and gut micro biota, decreasing some of the detrimental impacts of acne.
Beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds
Blood sugar surges can be avoided by eating protein with each meal or snack, such as beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds. When your blood sugar levels rise, your body produces a chemical known as 'insulin-like growth factor.' When we have too much 'insulin-like growth factor,' our skin glands create more oil, which can contribute to blocked pores and acne.
High fiber diet
Fiber is necessary for removing toxins from our bodies through regular bowel movements, and this process helps prevent toxins from being pushed out through the skin, which can lead to acne.
Fiber also feeds the healthy bacteria in the stomach, which assists in toxin clearance, and it has an anti-inflammatory impact on the entire body, including the skin. You should consume 7-9 pieces of vegetables and fruits each day, and whole grains rather than processed grains should be consumed.
Acne supplements that work
Antioxidants
Antioxidants are substances that scavenge free radicals. In our bodies, 'free radicals' are unstable atoms that may harm cells, cause sickness, ageing, inflammation, and acne.
Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and beta-carotene, as well as Selenium, Vitamin A, and lutein, are the finest antioxidant vitamins.
Antioxidants have been demonstrated to assist in the reduction of inflammation in a variety of ways. Because acne is an inflammatory disorder, the more antioxidants you consume, the better. Antioxidants help decrease inflammation. Collagen is a protein that forms the major structural and elastic component of our skin, and these free-radical scavenging minerals are essential for collagen formation in the skin.

Omega 3
Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for overall health, as well as the health of our skin. They have significant anti-inflammatory properties in the body and are essential for skin health. Daily omega 3 supplementation has been shown to alleviate acne in studies; however, algal oil is the vegan counterpart, has the same active components, and is a far nicer choice for the fish and the environment.
Turmeric & Cur cumin
Turmeric's main ingredient, cur cumin, has a multitude of anti-inflammatory properties. Cur cumin reduces inflammation on the skin and in the stomach by targeting the biological cause of inflammation. Reduced intestinal inflammation promotes the growth of probiotics, which helps control inflammation further down the immune system, resulting in positive effects on the skin and throughout the body.
