So I saw all the spoilers for Love Alarm season 2 and fully expected the worst when I watched it, but it’s actually not that bad. Yes I agree they could have probably executed it better and I don’t think it was necessary to split it into two seasons because I feel both seasons are kind of weak on their own. But I actually liked season 2 better than the first season because we got more insight to the characters’ motivations and inner thoughts. 

I know when the story relies on a love triangle, there are bound to be a big divide in the fandom and people are quick to shit on the drama if their preferred ship isn’t endgame. I’m not going to lie I’m probably also like that and I don’t think I would have been able to watch it had she actually gotten together with Sun Oh and if I had watched it I would probably be equally passionate about criticizing this drama as I see some people are. 

I will say though, I don’t understand the hate towards Jojo. I don’t see her as the unbelievable selfish character that was just stringing two guys along and taking advantage of their feelings towards her. Hye Young was the one to approach her with his feelings and made it clear he didn’t expect anything in return from her, she shouldn’t feel pressured by any means but even so she still tried to be there for him and make him happy. And Sun Oh was the one who refused to move on despite Jojo setting clear boundaries. Yes she was confused and that resulted in some hurt, especially in the past. But she isn’t selfish just because she doesn’t return the feelings for a guy she dated a while in high school. The only thing she really owed him was an explanation so he wouldn’t have felt so blindsided, but she was also a teenager dealing with trauma and expecting her to have life sorted and being emotionally mature is maybe asking a little much of her. 

Anyway, overall it was nice and cute story wrapped up neatly. 7/10 from me.

i'm halfway through love alarm season 2 and i have sm issues with two of the characters?? here's spoiler warning from me so don't proceed if you don't wish to be spoiled!

kim jojo — she installed the shield with her reasoning that she wants to protect sunoh because she believes that she's a magnet for misfortune. i have no problem with that because i get that she's affected by her childhood trauma and the bs her aunt and gulmi have been feeding her ever since jojo lived with them, but the real problem arises in season 2 when sunoh confronts her about her not ringing his alarm. and she says that she installed the shield because of him. note that the present reasoning is completely different than the initial one (i've bolded both of them). stop pushing the blame to other people when the reason why you installed the shield in the first place was because of yourself (she initially believed that the problem was herself)??? if there are any people that actually agree with what she's doing, then i'm sorry, are you okay???

hwang sunoh — firstly, the way he tries to convince jojo that she still has feelings for him (even while she herself is confused about her own feelings) doesn't sit right with me. i understand that he believes that she loves him because of that breakup which jojo never clarified at all, but forcing your feelings onto someone? no. respectfully, get outta here. secondly, he has a girlfriend and doesn't bother breaking up with her even though he knew from the start that he still liked jojo. (yukjo is too pure and patient for this world omg.) he should've done the poor girl a favour and not even started their relationship in the first place.

i am this close 👌 to dropping this kdrama because 1) of how fed-up i am with the entire scenario and 2) i already know what happens next thanks to massive spoilers all over youtube 😤
