#yj him is so boring istg
Text
Anyway so there’s something so interesting about Kon’s fear of responsibility and how it’s been reflected from how no one really wants him. Lex Luthor wanted a toy, essentially, an object that was good for the cameras and did what he wanted - he manipulated and abused him and he didn’t care even enough to give Kon a proper NAME. And then we have Clark, and like, I understand Clark’s reaction, how he essentially refuses to have a relationship w Kon for the longest time but the fact remains that Kon was a lost person with the experience of a toddler and the mind of a teenager who’s only ever experienced manipulation before and like this is someone who’s supposedly equal to a god, who’s supposed to be this paragon of righteousness and even he doesn’t want him, even he just sort of leaves him with Ma and Pa Kent, and yeah, they’re amazing, but the fact remains it’s still just someone else who doesn’t care enough to try and build a relationship with him.
And it’s like- Kon is selfish and irresponsible yet he’s also the friend who cares for everyone and scolds them even while he’s reckless. He’s a reflection of how the people around him have treated him while also trying to like not be that! He’s only ever experienced selfishness and abandonment and surface level relationships but he wants more, he wants someone to love him unconditionally and I believe HE WANTS to be that for someone too, so that’s why there’s Kon “Mom Friend” Kent alongside how he’s self centered and reckless and has some issues w commitment.
And like, I don’t mean to say Clark is at fault there, because Kon’s very existence to him represents a violation, his DNA was taken without his permission to make someone who’s there to replace him and who literally did just that for a while. It’s understandable he’s hesitant. But like, Kon didn’t ask to be made, he didn’t ask for any of that, and it’s like he’s just getting the brunt of the consequences anyway.
It’s just so interesting idk
