The drastic change in temperature by just a closed door was astounding. Just minutes ago you had been bundled in blankets on the couch waiting for Steve to get home. His wide smile and snowflake kissed lashes made you jump up only for him to stop you in your tracks when he flings the small build up off of his shoulders and a shake of his hair. But when his eyes meet you he can't hold back his excitement.
“I've got a surprise for you!”
“What kind of surprise?” you keep in mind that he has yet to take off his shoes as he reaches for you.
“Well, ok so I know you've been wanting to go and look at trees together, but on the way home I saw one and I could not pass it up babe, it's perfect.”
You don't even care that you didn't get to pick it out with him, the second you see this beautiful Fraser Fir your mind races at all of the possibilities of how you can decorate it. This six foot tall, full branched stunner is absolutely the one. You beam at Steve as he stands looking down to you.
“ It is perfect Steve! We have to get this thing inside right now !” You beam.
So yes you froze a little to bring this beast into the living room. Only for a second though as you get Steve to hold it up, while you run to the garage to grab a holiday tote. You had a few that sat in the small space.
This house was fairly new to you and Steve. It had only been a few months of living together and this was the first holiday you were spending in it together. Halloween was shared with friends and Thanksgiving split between families, but Christmas was a holiday you had decided to spend solely together this year.
A decision that Steve had suggested, one that made your heart soar. A Grinch in his own right, Christmas had never been one of Steve's favorites, until he met you. Something about seeing how purely excited you got when it snowed or when you saw a gift you thought someone would love. Everything about this season in Steve's mind began and ended with you.
To see that look in your eye as you stood back and saw the tree in the corner of your shared living room, that made every bad decision in his life worth it. Since it led him here, straight home, to you.
A few more totes brought in and all filled with ornaments, some old and some new. Heavy and willing , you lifted each one to show Steve.
“Alright champ, who's ornaments are we going with?” You look at him a bit off, a strong side eye as you open the lid to the first tote.
“Both , duh ! “ He stares at the totes and then towards you and a small sigh leaves him.
“ They won't match each other ya know?.” You stop shuffling through the mound of decorations and look at him.
“Do they need to ?” The question stuns him.
“I mean.. I guess not, but won't that bother you ? The fact that our decorations don't aesthetically go together?” You look at the totes scattered in front of you and survey that of your six, Steve has only one.
So no you could honestly say you didn't give a damn if his glass baubles didn't match yours. That the garland he owned was gold unlike your silver. As long as he felt that he could set his things next to yours in harmony you really didn't care how it looked to prying eyes.
“ Do you care if they match ? “  He shakes his head as a small blush dusts his cheeks. “ Then neither do I “ you both find that among his few small trinkets you share a few, doubles for if one breaks.
You pull out your ceramic trees and place them along the mantle above the fireplace while Steve strings lights along the tree. A few ornaments get placed across the bottom as he weaves in and out of the branches at the top leaving just enough space for the tree topper.
He starts to play a George Michael record, one he knows you can't resist dancing to. A secret you shared on one of your first dates, coincidentally around the holidays. He recalls you saying how beautifully haunted Michael sounded when singing about his lost love and how you knew that feeling all too well, one you would never know again.
Steve watches as you place small hooks into rings and place delicate glass and ceramic into thick full leaves as he sits leaning against the back of your couch. Listening to you hum sweet melodies, content in your skin. He thinks to himself how lucky he is to have found you this early in life, grateful beyond belief.
“Do you think we should use your star topper or my angel topper this year babe?” Your question startles him out of his thoughts.
“Hmmm? What ?” You laugh having let him drift away for a bit.
“Star or Angel ?” You hold both in your hands and wave them back and forth in front of the tree to gauge his reaction to either.  You had debated for about ten minutes silently yourself, opting to let Steve decide so you wouldn't have to.
He groans coming up towards you and taking them both out of your hands. He holds the star up and then the angel as if he is deep in contemplation.
“I'm going star my love , I've already got my angel this year.” You feel the heat in your chest at his words. They fall from his lips as easily as reciting his name , so fond of you this man is. Yours , he is all yours.
You place a small kiss to his lips that turns into something of hunger, instantly. Buttons become skewed and zippers get pulled down.
How did you get so lucky as to unwrap Steve Harrington?

Part Two
15 days before Christmas Steve Harrington flinches when the Christmas lights strung along the arcade flicker.
Eddie only notices because he makes a habit out of keeping an eye on questionable people when he's out and about.
Watches Harrington recover with a little shake of his head and a roll of his shoulders, as Gareth finishes up his shift, swapping cashier positions with Jeff.
Dustin and Lucas stick around long enough to greet Jeff as Eddie stares, before scuttling off to Harrington's car, pushing and shoving each other the whole way.
Eddie frowns, but decides to put the whole thing out of his head.
He doesn't need his little lamb's adoration of evil high school figures to poison his day.
                                                            xXx
12 days before Christmas and Eddie is starting to realize Harrington is everywhere.
There's a little holiday display the town center has put on. A temporary ice rink surrounded by dazzling lights, hot chocolate stands, and plenty of things to see.
Wayne and Eddie, with their traditional day of Christmas shopping complete, stroll within it, a cup of hot chocolate in hand. They never buy much--can’t, but it’s still something fun for Eddie to do with his Uncle and so and he bounces about with glee as they people watch.
A familiar shriek hits the air, and Eddie turns in time to see Mike and Dustin collide on the ice, while Lucas and his sister skate literal circles around them, laughing.
Unable to pass up on the opportunity to tease, Eddie flies to the edge of the rink, waving his hand and demanding one of the kids do a flip.
"A flip!? Eddie, I can't even skate a circle!" Henderson shouts, at the same time as Wheeler adds;
“Let’s see you try and skate with these idiots!”
“Sorry Wheeler, I think getting on the ice with you might be hazardous to my health.”
“Shut up!”
Delightful banter officially traded, Eddie turns to find his Uncle in a conversation with Steve Harrington.
Grin immediately faltering into a frown, he approaches cautiously right in time to see Wayne clap Harrington on the shoulder.
“It gets better.” Wayne says gruffly, in that tone he uses when he’s trying to give deeply emotional advice without the emotional part.
The younger boy gave a hard nod, muttering something that might have been “Thanks.”
Eddie jerked to a stop several steps away, but close enough for Wayne to see him, to know he was done and it was time to go.
Thankfully his Uncle picked up the signal, and made his way over, so the two of them  could finish out their lap around the town center.
"He’s one of your classmates, right?" Wayne asked, as they turned away from the rink, Harrington back to watching the kids laugh and play around the ring.
"Not anymore." Eddie scoffs. "That's Steve Harrington."
Wayne hums noncommittally.
"As in, the rich Harrington's.” Eddie prods, because come on everyone knew who the Harrington’s were, just as everyone delighted in rightfully shitting on them. They weren’t good people. “As in, the assholes from Loc Nora?"
Another hum.
Then; "People are more than their last name, Eds. You should know that."
Eddie jerks back, stung at the admonishment.
Wayne’s not mad, never is, but Eddie recognizes his Uncle’s disappointed tone loud and clear.
"One of the gifts you got from me was seein’ through people's bullshit.." Wayne continues, before sucking in a draw on his cigarette. "I'm surprised you didn't see through his."
‘I don’t want to see through his!’ Is what Eddie wants to say, but keeps it to himself.
Changed the subject instead, shoulders hiked to his ears, because Harrington having some kind of claim on his new players was one thing, but his Uncle!?
He didn’t care about whatever crap the guy was going through. King Steve has been an ass for as long as Eddie had known him, the kind of bully whose downfall you cheered for.
Sure it was petty, but guys like Harrington reveled in pettiness.
So who cared if Eddie didn’t want to look closer at him now? Harrington wasn’t a lost lamb.
He was at best, an injured wolf, and no amount of sad looks was going to make him any safer to be around.
                                                          xxx
9 days till Christmas and Wheeler is having a tantrum that's delaying Hellfire's holiday oneshot.
"I don't get why he hates Christmas so much. He didn't even know Will when he disappeared!" Mike snips with his arms crossed.
Dustin is across from him, a furious scowl on his face, as Lucas stands between, a physical barrier between the two.
"As usual, you're talking out of your ass, Mike." Henderson spits, furious. "He was in Will's house with Jonathan and Nancy. That's reason enough!"
As if that makes any kind of sense, but then this isn’t the first argument that went into weird territory like this. Eddie’s always prided himself on pulling stories out of people, earning secrets and truths with a well trained ear and a smarter mouth.
The freshman though, were proving to be a hell of a challenge.
Mike throws his hands in the air. "I'm just saying, we all have way more reasons to hate Christmas, but none of us are acting like the grinch!"
“I know you can only have two good thoughts a day without breaking your brain, but you're being so stupid." Dustin thunders. "Did you ever think Steve might have other reasons to hate Christmas!?”
Eddie almost groans aloud, because of course, of fucking course, this is about Harrington.
The guy was a goddamn ghost at this point, hellbent on haunting Eddie’s entire life.
Didn’t even have the courtesy to die first!
"Guys." Lucas stressed, hands now firmly pressed against Mike and Dustin’s chest. “Come on, we’re wasting time. We can talk about this later.”
“Oh don’t worry about that Sinclair,” Eddie purred, making the three of them jump, as though they had forgotten they had a full ass audience in the form of the rest of the club. “I’m just docking their HP points for every minute they hold up the game.”
“Shit!” Dustin and Milke yelled as one, scrambling to get to their chairs.
Gareth and Jeff snicker, Grant making it known he was over their antics with a look that could have burnt gold.
Eddie clapped his hands once, hard enough for it to echo throughout the room. “If everyone is done bickering,” He announced, slipping into his DM voice, “we can begin our tale…”
He launches into the story he’d planned, and enjoys pulling everyone into it, all thoughts of Steve Harrington left behind.
                                              xXx
5 Days before Christmas and Eddie is panic shopping.
He’s not the one panicking, nor the one shopping, but he has a car and friends who know where he lives, so he’s woken up at an ungodly hour of the morning (10 am) by Gareth, Grant, and Henderson of all people.
“Gareth’s sister took the car again.” Grant explains with dramatic, rolling eyes at Eddie’s exasperated face.
“I’m sorry you planned going shopping five days before Christmas?”
“Well--no-” Grant continues at the same time Dustin and Gareth yell protests.
They talk over each other for a moment, loud enough to make Eddie crave coffee and the comfort of his bed.
He runs one hand through his frizzy, bedhead hair before yanking it out and waving it around to catch his friend's attention. “Alright, I get it! You all decided to do white elephant gift thing last minute, and are now scrambling."
"Speaking of which, you're invited." Henderson tells him with a cheeky grin. "We're doing it on Christmas Eve."
Of course they were.
"Please man? It'll be fun." Gareth pleads, as Grant shoots him his patented puppy dog eyes.
Eddie sighs.
"I'll do it, but!" He sticks a finger in the air as grins broke out, "I'm demanding food and coffee and payment!"
With that he retreated from the door, stomping back to his room.
"Good coffee, too!" He hollers as he throws on clothes, happy chatter breaking out among his friends.
Several arguments and one run to the best to-go coffee shop in town, and Eddie was following his buddies around as they wandered through downtown Hawkins.
Since the mall had burned, shopping options had been rather limited, shops slow to reopen.
It made it difficult to buy things last minute, but Eddie found it was actually kind of fun as Henderson explained the rules they'd all agreed on (hopefully, Gareth added, because the rules had been passed along in pieces.)
"The goal is to get outrageous, funny stuff." Dustin explains as they browsed the local bookstore. "Nothing more than fifteen dollars, and nothing Christmas-y."
Eddie raises an eyebrow. "Nothing Christmas-y?" He echoes curiously.
Dustin nods, serious.
"Yeah. Christmas can be kinda a downer for some people. We came up with this as a way to celebrate without all the holiday stuff involved."
"Some people like Harrington?" Eddie guesses, sinking feeling in his stomach.
There's no way Grant and Gareth would've  agreed to do a gift exchange with Steve Harrington.
Right?
Dustin sighs dramatically, whole body heaving.
"I know you've got a weird hate-on for him, but this time of year is really hard on Steve." He snaps, exasperated. "It's not my place to talk about it outside the Party, but he doesn't deserve to deal with it on his own."
There's that word again, Party.
Capital P implied, just as it implies that it's a group that Eddie is firmly excluded from.
It stings as it lands, an unintentional insult that reminds Eddie that his newest little lambs have secrets they refuse to share.
Nevermind the fact that Steve is clearly included.
Eddie collects secrets like candy, but his poking and prodding had yet to get him a solid answer on the mysterious "party."
Rather than press, Eddie raises his hands in surrender.
"Easy there, tiger. No offense meant."
Full offense meant actually, but Eddie wasn't in the mood for a full blown Henderson Rant.
Dustin narrows his eyes, but takes his words at face value. "You know, you guys would really like each other if you both just got over yourselves."
Eddie snorts, but covers it by playfully shoving Henderson's cap down into his face.
"When hell freezes over maybe. Now look, they have a new science fiction display!" The last part is sing-songed.
Thoroughly distracted, Dustin lets the conversation drop, much to Eddie's relief.
(Because really him? Liking Harrington?
Not in a million freaking years.)
                                                      xxx
It's Christmas Eve and Eddie is staring furiously at Steve Harrington's house.
"No one told me he was involved." He hisses angrily, knuckles white on his steering wheel.
"Oh my god, stop being dramatic." Dustin rolls his eyes as he talks, unbuckling himself. “I told you Steve hates Christmas, so this is how we’re including him!”
Jeff is looking equally uncomfortable, even as Lucas and Mike fall out of the van.
Gareth's car is behind him, Grant with him.
No doubt they too, are staring at the massive house in front of them in horror.
Slowly the elder Hellfire members file out, standing in a clump as the younger members rush forward.
They storm the door like they live in the damn place, fluttering about like moths.
"What the hell." Jeff mutters quietly to Eddie's left.
"Yeah guys, what the hell." Eddie repeats, shooting a glare toward Gareth and Grant. "No one mentioned this part!"
"We didn't know." Gareth defends angrily. "This was all the freshman!"
"Are you idiots coming inside or not!?" Robin Buckley of all people yells, appearing in the now open front door.
Or rather, one of the front doors, because Harrington is rich enough to have two.
"Shit." Eddie mutters.
"It's not weird if we just--leave, right?" Grant mumbles, shuffling from foot to foot.
"It's very weird if we leave." Jeff responds flatly.
A flare of anger ignites in Eddie. It comes from Steve Harrington invading this entire holiday, and Eddie finally has a chance to catch him off guard.
He'd be damned if he let it pass by.
"Brave faces men." He says, tossing his hair back with a jerk of his hand. "We're storming the castle."
Struts forward determinedly, present in hand, fully planning on making Harrington as uncomfortable as he had made Eddie.
Unintentional, or not.
                                                xXx
It's the day before Crapmas, the one holiday Steve hates, and he's somehow been sweet talked into hosting the kids white elephant exchange.
Which was fine--they were welcome in his home anytime and they knew it--but they'd conveniently forgotten to mention this was a Hellfire Club event.
As in, Eddie "the freak" Munson and his crew of three other dudes whose names Steve doesn't know (but who probably knew his.)
"I dunno man, I wasn't the best person to a lot of people." He worried at Dustin this morning, when the brat had sprung it on him. "This probably isn't the best idea."
"Please Steve!? It's too late to change the venue and you promised you'd do a holiday thing with each of us!" Dustin whined on the other end.
At least he had the forethought to not actually use the word "Christmas."
"You did everyone else's, you can't skip out on mine!"
Everyone else's was simple shit like taking them ice skating, or shopping, or making gingerbread houses.
Not hosting a whole ass party with four people who likely hated his guts--and for good reason.
Which Steve repeated to Dustin, staring vacantly at his carefully decorated house.
Once again, his parents had called in designers to come keep appearances, sending along their usual message that they may or may not be home depending upon various work factors.
"We just never know anymore with your father's job honey." His mother slurred on the phone, four years ago. "We'll make it up to you, sweetheart. Promise."
Like more money on his credit card could fix years of ruined holidays.
(At least them being gone was better than forcing Steve to perform in their horrible holiday parties. Dressing him up like a doll, gathering drunk adults around the piano to make him play horrid Christmas songs.
Showing him off like a well trained dog, complete with finger snaps to signal him to move on to his next trick. )
“Steeeeeeve-!”
As always, Steve crumbled under Dustin's badgering.
"Fine, fine!" He’d said. “You're responsible for letting them know me and Robin are gonna be there though!”
Robin, who’d been laying on his couch, poked her head up at her name.
“They’ll know!” Dustin had promised.
Then abruptly hung up, like the brat he was.
Now four half-terrified, half-murderous looking dudes were staring Steve down as they awkwardly stood in his living room, and he had the wondrous realization that Dustin had probably sprung this on them too.
‘Little. Asshole.’ Steve thinks, but plasters the best non threatening smile on his face.
“Hey, uh, guys.” He says with an awkward little wave.
He gets three sets of glares and one impressive looking spooked face back.
Mike and Lucas were already tackling the snacks he’d put out, cheeks full of chocolates and popcorn. Dustin was re-arranging furniture to his liking, and Robin, in-between her four classmates and Steve, glanced at both sides and rolled her eyes.
“Steve, go pull the pizza out of the oven. You lot, come sit down, you look like you’re about to bolt.” Robin snaps, making everyone sans the kids jump.
Happy for the distraction, Steve quickly retreats to his kitchen, overhearing Robin try and get the elder Hellfire members to identify themselves.
Chatter fills the room, slow at first, but it becomes more fluid with Robin’s ruthless prodding. The pizza ends up needing another five minutes, which suits Steve since he hadn’t had time to pull out drinks.
He’s bent at the waist, pulling out various cans when Dustin loudly announces his presence by barging into the fridge and smacking Steve’s ass with it.
With a yelp, cans fly everywhere as Steve drops them, bouncing off the floor and rolling across the kitchen.
“Henderson!” He gripes, standing up as the kid grins at him. He has all his teeth now but the smile will probably always feel cute to Steve. By-product of knowing the little shit for far too long.
“Sorry Steve.” He says dismissively, before stepping aside with a dramatic flair. “Now stop being a total housewife for a second and meet Eddie!”
The sound of cans still rolling ringing in his ears, Steve finds himself staring into Munson’s eyes.
Who looks all too delighted to have seen Steve fumble.
“Thought you were a jock, Harrington. What happened to those reflexes?” He smirks, and Steve feels his face flush red.
“Yeah well,” Steve says, hand reflexively rubbing the back of his neck, “Turns out hanging around kids kinda ruins them.”
This is clearly not the response Eddie was expecting.
Nor is he expecting Dustin to loudly announce that; “Steve once played a D&D campaign with us, but he totally ate it as a cleric. You should give him some tips, Eddie!”
Now it’s Steve’s turn to smirk, because Munson looks completely thrown.
“Is…that a joke?” Eddie asks carefully, looking between the two of them.
Dustin shakes his head. “Nope! You can ask Lucas’s sister, she was there.”
He then glances down at his watch, and gives the biggest fake gasp Steve has ever heard (and Steve once sat through Will and Mike acting in a play for their English class, while Nancy and Jonathan silently suffered second-hand embarrassment next to him.)
“Oh shit, I forgot something! Be right back!”
“Language!” Steve calls, as Dustin shoots out of the kitchen. “And be careful not to trip on the cans!”
Munson, who looks like he’s taken a wrong turn and ended up in the Twilight Zone, stares at him. “Did you seriously play a cleric?”
“Weave Healington was a brave man who sacrificed himself in a time of need.” Steve tells him seriously, just to see the guy’s reaction. “May he rest in peace.”
“Weave Healington.” Eddie deadpans.
Steve, keeping his face blank by the skin of his teeth, nods.
“Please tell me that wasn’t the pizza you just dropped.” Robin says as she flies into the kitchen, interrupting Eddie’s face rapidly cycling through different emotions with a badly wrapped present in her hands.
“Stevie boy dropped the pop, Buckley Bird.” Eddie says, recovering quickly. “I would not recommend drinking out of anything currently laying on the floor.”
“Noted.” Robin says, pausing to stare at the cans scattered about. “Hey Steve, did you wrap your weird eyeball thingie? Or do you want me to do it? I dunno how long the kids are gonna wait.”
Like a dog hearing a whistle, Munson’s whole head tips sideways. “Weird eyeball thingie?”
“Oh my god, it’s this--I don’t even know how to describe it. Like an alternative ouija board? It says it’s a “fortune telling game.” Robin makes the quotation marks with her hands. “It has this giant, ugly eyeball in the middle.”
She leans forward conspiratorially to add; “It glows in the dark.”
“Oh my god, Steve, your gift is Ka-Bala!?” Dustin says, bouncing up like a damn jack-in-the-box. “I’ve always wanted that game!”
“Robin!” Steve hisses, because of course she’d announce that right as Dustin would pop back up.
“Oh shit.” Robin says, shooting him an apologetic glance. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to ruin your gift.”
Steve sighs dramatically, but keeps a small grin on his face so Robin knows he’s not really upset. “Guess I’ll have to go find a new one--which means your punishment is that you and Dustin are now in charge of the pizza. And also picking up all the cans.”
“Curses.” Robin says flatly, before breaking out into a grin herself, while Dustin whines.
“It’s probably for the best.” Eddie says, though the guy sounds weirdly like someone desperately off balance and scrambling to fix it. “You know you weren’t supposed to pick cool gifts, right Harrington?”
Steve raises his eyebrows at him. “Cool? It’s kinda weird. It’s disgustingly neon green. And Robin forgot to mention it’s a board game.”
He pushes Dustin’s hat down as he walks by, and laughs aloud when Eddie follows up by knocking it right off Henderson’s head.
“Hey!” Dustin squeaks, hands darting to cover his hat hair.
He’s ignored.
“Neon green, giant eyeball, fortune telling board game?” Eddie sums up. “Yeah might have to murder Buckley because that sounds rad as hell.”
Steve snorts as he walks down the hall and up the stairs, somehow unsurprised to find the metalhead is following.
“You want it, Munson?” He asks as they hit his second floor, Steve aiming for his fathers office. “You’re welcome to it, I never even opened the thing.”
“What do you want for it?” Eddie asks, following Steve right through the door, before stopping dead.
A typical reaction to someone walking into his fathers stuffy, stupidly expensive office. Like the rest of Steve’s house, it looks as though it was transported straight out of a magazine. Everything is shiny and worse--unused.
“Nothing, man.” Steve said, standing in front of said desk now with his arms crossed. “I mean it, it’s still got the plastic on it. You’re gonna have to sneak it by Dustin though.” He turned to smile at Eddie, feeling like they were sharing a joke, “He might physically fight you for it.”
For some reason this made a hell of a blush streak across Munson’s cheeks, before the guy coughed and swung into the office behind Steve.
“He can try.” Eddie managed finally, voice a shade higher than normal.
As he always did to social things he didn’t understand, Steve just ignored the change.
“Why’d you never play it?” Eddie asks, as Steve scans the shelves of stupidly expensive knick-knacks.
“Someone trying to impress my parents got it for me one Christmas.” He says with a shrug. “They wouldn’t let me open it then, and I forgot all about it until I was digging for something else.”
“They don’t care about it now I take it?”
Steve can’t help the snort that leaves his throat. “They’d have to be around to care.” Then to get the conversation back on track, says; “Okay, I’m thinking the shitty World’s Best Boss trophy.”
He points to the gaudy thing, all shiny from the ass kissing the person who’d purchased it had done in hopes Steve’s dad would give him a raise. Or not fire him, Steve never knew which it was.
"I take it your dad’s not gonna be here to care that it’s gone?” Eddie asks, walking up to stand next to Steve.
Another grin appears on Steve’s face, shared conspiratorially with Eddie when he looks over to the metalhead. “That’s my gift to myself man. I’m gonna see how long it takes before he notices it’s gone.”
Eddie whistled, quiet enough to not hurt Steve’s ears. “Fuck the old man, huh?”
“Absolutely.” Steve agreed, stepping forward to fish the trophy down.
“Gotta say man, you’re surprising me. I didn’t expect such a thing from you. Especially since Henderson told me you hate Christmas.”
Steve shrugged as he turned back around, new white elephant gift in hand. “Yeah it’s a thing I’m trying.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Not hating Christmas?”
“Not being a dick. Which,” He shook the trophy, “--means sticking it to the biggest dick in my life. I think I’ll always hate Christmas.”
Eddie snorted a laugh, then looked startled, like he hadn’t expected that reaction out of himself.
Steve grinned at it.
“You uh--you know if you ever want to talk about the hating Christmas thing, I think I get it. Or can relate. Sorta.” Eddie says, and it’s so stilted that it takes Steve a moment to figure out what he’s offering.
He almost asks him if he’s kidding, but thinks better of it.
“I think I’m less cut up about it then the kids are but, for what it’s worth--thanks.”
Doesn’t think he’ll ever take anyone up on that offer, epically not someone who doesn’t know that an entire hell dimension exists under them but--
It’s nice. To have someone recognize that Steve hates it. That there are reasons he might.
He recalls suddenly that the man at the ice rink who’d also seen through his melancholy was in fact, Eddie’s Uncle, and briefly wonders if this just runs through the family.
“Come on, I gotta wrap this and then get back downstairs before Robin and Dustin burn the house down.” He says instead, because he doesn’t want to get in his own head about it. Not tonight, when he knows the kids have gone out of their way in an effort to celebrate the holiday without making him feel like he was celebrating it. “Or worse, they start the white-elephant without us.”
“After you, my liege.” Eddie says with a dramatic bow.
Steve pauses awkwardly for a moment, before giving the world's most careful curtsey back.
(Laughs loudly  as Eddie almost falls on his face in surprise, before the older man scrambles to chase after Steve, out of the office.)
                                               xXx
It’s 12:00 pm, making it officially Christmas day, and Eddie Munson is rapidly re-evaluating his entire life.
Well perhaps not all of it, just the parts with Steve Harrington.
They’re playing the best white-elephant game Eddie has ever participated in, a cutthroat competition that’s filled the house with shrieks and laughter.
Henderson’s gift, cat-paw shaped mittens with “You’ve gotta be kitten me” scrawled on the back is the current winning prize, with Mike’s salt and pepper shakers made in the shape of two pigs “porking” being a close second.
The worst gift is a tie between the eye searing scarf Gareth’s mother had created (complete with bedazzled gems) and an abomination of a stuffed animal Grant insists is an ET doll.
It looked like a deformed llama sat on its ass, and Lucas already scared Mike with it twice.
Eddie’s own gift, ( a mug with Tom Selleck posing shirtless) was jokingly fought over by Robin and Steve to the bitter end, while Gareth was defending the blue circular cookie tin (the kind that mothers shoved needles and sewing threads into, but shockingly enough actually held real cookies) with his life.
Literally at one point, as he laid over it while Jeff tackled him.
Eddie himself had gone for the gold, wanting the trophy Steve had procured. He too, was defending it aggressively against Dustin, who was currently stuck with Lucas’s gift (one of his sister’s pet rock creations she’d apparently tried to sell to her classmates.
It was hideous.)
Now stretched out on his bed, legs in the air as he stares at the Ka-Bala game Steve had snuck into his arms with a wink, Eddie finds he’s the guy’s managed to go from haunting his whole life, to trying to haunt his heart.
Made him want to do the thing he’d angrily been against this entire time--take a look at the guy closer.
See past his bullshit, at the person hiding underneath.
Find out what Steve was talking to his Uncle about, and why his house looked like a Christmas themed tomb.
Why his parents were gone. What the hell made him he pick a cleric in D&D. How he met the kids and why Dustin thought the sun shines out of his ass.
But most of all?
Why the hell had Steve Harrington put a note on the back of the Ka-Bala game?
‘Hope you like the game..’  It read, with the dorkiest little smiley face. ‘I wouldn’t mind hanging out again.’
Below it was a number, and Eddie felt himself go red in the face.
Steve Harrington was a fucking mystery, but one Eddie himself, had been personally invited to solve.
‘Merry Christmas to me I guess.’ He thought, and tried very, very hard not to kick his legs in the air.

I just wanted to thank everybody who has liked, reblogged, or followed me in my journey of posting naughty sex audios. It all basically started when my rommie and I would share this audios between us, but I felt like the world deserved to hear it too.

Dec 3rd: Stolen Pine
Written for @steddieholidaydrabbles
prompt: Mutual Pining | AO3: link | wc: 946 | rating: G | cw: none | tags: idiots in love, 'pine' ing, Christmas tree without glasses, light theft
Summary: Spontaneous tree theft and decorating, paired with some pining.
⍋↟⍋♡⍋↟⍋
They'd hauled in the tree. Eddie kept talking about how the evergreen part was the important bit and continued to explain Christmas's stolen nuances from paganism. Steve nodded and did his best to follow along. That was what he did lately, follow Eddie. Whether it started with a need to assure himself the guy was okay after their Upside Down torments, or if he'd honestly found Eddie intriguing from the get go, Steve couldn't say.
It didn't really matter anyway. He was positive that his feelings weren't going away as he nodded along with Eddie's excited ramblings. He hadn't even hesitated to join Eddie that night without product in his hair, glasses on.
Steve's vision had started to degrade. He'd noticed after his first run in with a Demogorgon. Pretty soon he legally needed corrective lenses to drive. Vanity prevented him from letting anyone other than Robin know. She'd assured him, ‘a boy is allowed to have his secrets. Just not from his platonic soulmate.’ Kinda the same reasoning behind why she knew how utterly hopeless he'd become around Eddie. The type of lovesick that had him helping Eddie with his non-christ related, Christmas tree caper.
continues after the cut
Eddie already knew about Steve's vision after helping Steve through an awful migraine where he just couldn't stand to have the contacts in. Steve'd been so nervous but Eddie just teased him about commiting to an ’Indiana Jones’ look and they kinda just moved on.
Steve hadn't expected Eddie at all that night when he knocked on his door. He'd come late to ask for help stealing a tree off some wooded, government owned property. He took one look at Eddie's ridiculous smile and dancing deep eyes and threw on a parka to help.
Now they were attempting to get the damn thing in a stand in the white-walled, impersonal living room of the house the ‘’Department of Energy’ had provided Wayne Munson with. They managed with no small amount of grunting and sappy fingers. More than once Steve reminded himself not to stare too hard at Eddie through the pine branches. He even liked Eddie's frustrated faces, the downward curve of his lips, the wrinkling of his forehead. Jesus, I'm pathetic.
When they finished he and Eddie stood back admiring their fresh cut theft.
“Wayne's at work for another two hours. Think we can get it done ourselves before he's back?”
“Do you have decorations?”
Eddie sheepishly twisted where he stood. “I picked up some lights, and yeah, there's a box of ornaments.”
Steve stilled, bowled over by the waves of ‘adorable’ pouring off of Eddie. “Uh yeah, I think we can manage.”
The box was one of the few items in a very small storage room Al Munson's name was on outside of town. Eddie had been contacted once as ‘next of kin' to make payments on the thing, and that's when he went to see it himself. Inside were his dad's ‘tools of the trade,’’ some suspicious looking luggage and duffels he recognized from a hair brained scheme or two. What a lame cache, he'd thought at the time. That was before he reached the cardboard boxes in the back. They were his mother's. Winter decorations and clothes that were never brought back out when the seasons changed after her death.
It was one of those boxes he'd picked up and brought to the new place, dragging it out now for Steve. Steve stopped unraveling lights to examine the ornaments. “These look like heirlooms,” he said, carefully picking up a blue, blown glass sphere and turning it in his strong hands.
Eddie loved the care and attention Steve directed at the one piece. The way a tendril of hair fell over his forehead; the consideration on his face. Steve was already in his ‘Clark Kent look’ when Eddie'd shown up to his place that night. Which made sense, it was late, but Eddie loved the glasses on Steve. He liked the superman analogy too. Steve was basically Eddie's superman anyway.
“They were my mother's,” Eddie said, touching the edge of a carved angel's wing inside.
Steve's mouth made a small ‘o’ shape and he carefully set the ornament back into the nestled layers of tissue paper. “They're beautiful Eds.”
They decorated together, and it was easy. Eddie was warmed just being near Steve but they seemed to naturally work well together, joking and spacing the lights and decorations just right. Steve got Eddie's radio out and they listened to crackly Christmas tunes as they went along.
They finished about thirty minutes or so before Wayne's anticipated return. The men stood back to admire their handy work. Steve took his glasses off.
“Prettier that way,” Eddie asked, breathier than he wanted to sound.
Steve chuckled. “Good both ways, but yeah. One of the only perks I guess? The lights all expand and blend a bit.”
Eddie stared at Steve taking in the tree. If the lights were as fuzzy as he'd said, Steve wouldn't notice Eddie's stare. Truth be told, Eddie always wanted to stare at Steve. The lights reflected in Steve's light brown eyes… Christ, he is so pretty. Eddie's fingers itched to twine themselves with Steve's. He was dying with every little kindness Steve showed him; dying to bite the bullet and confess. He wanted to know if his crush was one sided, but if things took a different turn... Telling Steve could ruin what they had, and then who would help him steal a Christmas tree at two am?
He could live with this for now, watching Steve lit by the glow of Christmas lights they hung together.
“Thanks Stevie.”
“Anytime Eds.”

The annual Christmas fic every fandom has of the "my parent has been pestering me to bring a significant other home so I lied that I have one, can you please be my boyfriend for Christmas" trope but it's Steddie.
It's Wayne who asks Eddie where his boyfriend is (after he moved out with Steve and Robin out of Hawkins a few years after Vecna) and because Eddie is tired of his pestering, he says he's seeing someone. Wayne then insists he brings him home so that (1) he could meet him (2) Eddie could spend Christmas with Wayne and his new girlfriend, and (3) he misses Eddie.
Eddie has no choice and now he panics. Because he's not dating anyone. He's been hooking up with people, but not really settling down. He expressed the concern to Steve and Robin—to which Robin says "why not ask Steve to be your pretend boyfriend for a while?"
And Steve goes with it. Because he's a good friend. (And also because he's been pining for two fucking years, he was meant to move on but he doesn't and it's slightly upsetting him. So, sue him if he wants to indulge on the maybe's that comes with pretending to be Eddie's for a holiday.)
They go back to Hawkins. They reunite with everyone else. And they're surprised with everyone telling them "it's about time you got together!" when they announce they're dating. Eddie's confused, Steve's slightly hurt and desperate to have people shut their mouths because he knew they were saying all that due to the fact that he's very obvious about his feelings.
It's another "Steve fell first, but Eddie fell harder" fic but for the holidays. Mixed with Fake/Pretend Relationship. And a dash of Angst/Comfort, Pining, and Maybe Not Unrequited Love.

You're the home my heart searched for so long
For: helix_stomper Beta reader: @readerofportrait Relationships: Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson, Robin Buckley & Steve Harrington, previous Steve Harrington/Original Character Rating: Explicit Wordcount: 15k Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Tags: Modern AU, Alternative Universe No Upside Down, Shrek References, Anal Sex, Rimming, Friends to Enemies to Lovers, Misunderstandings, Spa Owner Eddie Munson, Famous Influencer Steve Harrington, Dad Steve Harrington, Smut, Massage, Masseur Eddie Munson, Bisexual Steve Harrington Summary: Eddie and Steve used to be friends until high school, when Steve became the school sweetheart and Eddie the local freak. Years later, Steve is a famous influencer and he is back in Hawkins to help promote the local shops including Eddie's Spa; but many things have changed during the years, the biggest one? Steve has a daughter.
This fic is a part of the @steddieholidayexchange
A brief snippet under the cut!
If there is someone that Eddie can’t really stand is fucking Steve Harrington. They used to be friends once, but that was ages ago, before the hormones transformed Steve into an alpha guy with all his stupid minions. The Steve he loved was a little dork who used to go to school with a lovely green raincoat and green rain boots with some cute little frogs, he wore glasses so thick that his eyes looked super small behind the glass making him look even more dorky. He was a good guy, the one that used to sit with him at recess, the one that he used to tell stories to. Not this one. Not the super famous Influencer that is getting on the stage of the little town fair. “He is super famous Eddie! He will help us get more visibility!” Dustin has tried to convince him, but Eddie is still pissed, the only good thing is that Chrissy volunteers  not only to organize the little fair but also to work at the little stand dedicated to Eddie’s Spa, so he is not supposed to see Steve for more than five seconds. The boy will make a live on his social media, trying to promote his hometown and his friends' activity, and then he will go back with some super fancy car to his mansion in Los Angeles, or was it San Francisco? Not that Eddie really cares anyway, Steve can go to fuck himself where the hell he wants to. “Look! He is here! He is really here!” Dustin is too fucking excited and Eddie is so tired to be dragged everywhere. “I see him Dustin.” “Go talk to him! You used to be friends, right?” Dustin asks him, trembling with excitement. Eddie shrugs “That was ages ago, I’m sure he doesn’t even remember me anymore.” Chrissy sighs from the stand, she knows something about Eddie’s past, she knows that Eddie was a dealer and that he had the biggest crush ever on the boy that is smiling at the crowd, greeting them and signing autographs like a movie star.

Steve has been invited over to Dustin's to help him and Dustin's mom decorate the house and tree. Steve asks Dustin for another ornament because there's one spot on the tree that just looks totally naked, but when he doesn't get an immediate response he looks over to find Dustin with this lost sad expression and holding the tree topper in his hands. "Dustin...? you alright?" and then Dustin sniffles a little, looking at Steve.
"I was always too short to put the star on top of the tree... My dad, he... Do you think you could--"
Before Dustin can finish asking, Steve immediately agrees, because he'd literally do anything this kid asks of him at this point.
"Yeah, I got you."
Steve comes around, lifting Dustin upon his shoulders so he can put the star on top of the tree. after fumbling for a few minutes and some laughs later, Dustin gets the star on just right.

I haven't seen this floating around yet, so let me posit;
It's winter in Hawkins, it's cold.
Steve decides to try out growing a beard to see if it suits him.
Eddie completely loses his shit. He cannot handle this. It gives Steve an unfair advantage and looking that good should be illegal.

| have yourself a merry little christmas
| colby brock x reader
Tumblr media
summary: in which colby brock has never liked the idea of christmas. he’s never enjoyed it or wanted to celebrate by decorating. but his girlfriend loves the holiday. decorating the house in anyway she could. but a few words may cause colby’s hate for christmas to melt.
warnings: angst, reader cries, colby says a few means things lol, happy ending though !!
authors note: this is inspired by a steve harrington fic i saw last xmas, but the author has deactivated their account!!! but credits to them for this idea :)
Tumblr media
colby brock has never really liked christmas. he always thought of it as a burden. having to decorate the house and be all cheery for an entire month, just to celebrate one day.
he didn’t understand why he hated it so much; but he just did. he couldn’t get behind the idea of christmas, or decorating, or christmas trees. you name it, colby brock probably didn’t like it.
however his girlfriend y/n, adored christmas. it was her favourite time of the year and it had been ever since she was young. she loved decorating and making the holiday special for the younger ones in her family. she loved the presents, she loved the food and the whole idea.
so when christmas was quickly approaching, y/n couldn’t help but speak about the holiday. she would sometimes speak to colby about it, despite knowing he didn’t love the day. but her and sam would talk about it as sam would listen to the girl yap about christmas.
seen as it was their first christmas together and y/n had come to realise that colby did in fact not like christmas, she made it her goal to make him enjoy it this year.
Tumblr media
y/n had already begun preparing little things for christmas. it was only the middle of november and she had already planned the christmas tree, the lights which she’d put up outside, the gifts she was getting everyone. and by everyone, it meant everyone.
anyone who she would call a friend, or even a civil friendship, would receive a gift from the girl. wether it be bought or handmade, she’d make sure everyone got something this christmas.
but as the days slowly crept round to the first of december, y/n was ecstatic.
Tumblr media
colby’s eyes slowly opened, squinting due to the lack of sleep the boy received last night after coming home from a meeting at silly o’clock in the morning.
he noticed the empty space in the bed beside him. y/n wasn’t there. which was strange and unusual as usually the girl was the last one to wake up between the two off them.
he reached for his phone checking the time, which read 6:37am.
what was y/n doing? there was no way she chose to be up at this time in the morning. it’s not like she had anything special going on today.
colby gave himself a minute to fully wake up, stretching his legs and arms and closing his eyes one last time before sliding out the side of the bed.
colby walked downstairs, rubbing his eyes tiredly. this is why she was awake so early. he thought.
the whole downstairs of the house was now silver with christmas decorations. tinsel, little trinkets of decoration, a christmas countdown which had rotating blocks so you could change it every morning.
“y/n?” colby called out. there were a few moments of rustling and a box being put down.
y/n came into view from the kitchen door, adorned in fluffy socks and a big christmas jumper that was many sizes too big for her.
“what’s going on?” colby asked, “why does the house look so ‘christmassy’” colby shuddered at the word as though it was bad for him to say it.
“it’s the first of december, colbs!” y/n beamed, “it’s finally christmas time!”
colby strolled into the kitchen, looking at what y/n was doing.
she was baking. baking christmas cookies. and she might as well be feeding the entire state with the amount she had made.
“what are all these for?” he asked.
“christmas cookies! i’m gonna take them to the nursing home,” she explained, “i’ve done it every year!” she pulled a rack out the oven and placed even more cookies on the side. “you don’t think i’ve gone overboard right?”
“what? no? i think it’s sweet, y/n,”
“okay, good. i mean if i’ve made to many they can always have two each, or maybe even three!”
colby placed a hand on his girlfriends cheek, “hey, calm down. it’ll be fine, i promise you,” he spoke softly, “but maybe just also calm down on all the decorations, yeah?”
y/n faltered at his words, “you don’t like them?” she asked disheartened.
“no, i-i do. just… just not use to it, yeah?” colby answered quickly, not wanting to upset her.
she nodded in response, looking back over her cookies once more. “right, i’m going to let these cool down, then get ready and go out to give them to the nursing home and then come home and decorate the tree!” she planned.
colby sighed, trying to hide his slight annoyance that he was coming to terms with. he loved the girl, but he hated this christmas spirit she had.
Tumblr media
y/n had arrived home after successfully handing out her christmas cookies, 174 cookies to be exact, (she now realised she may have gone overboard).
y/n walked through the front door, taking her shoes off, leaving them next to colby’s.
as she strolled through the house, she arrived into the living room where colby was sat with his laptop.
she stood behind him, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek.
“hey colbs,” she smiled.
colby looked up to look at his girlfriend, he smiled back at her and kissed her lips. “how was it?” he asked.
“good! they were happy to see me again! said i should go see them more often,” she told colby.
“bless them. they probably don’t get many visitors so they’re probably pleased to see you!” he answered, to which y/n nodded.
colby turned back to his laptop as y/n had walked away into the corner of the living room.
she opened a box which held various christmas tree decorations. she’d used the box for as many christmases as she could remember, it even had some of the baubles that her parents had bought when she was a toddler.
y/n slowly began decorating the tree, adding the lights, the baubles, the tinsel and so on.
but it took her quite some time due to her being an extreme perfectionist and if things weren’t equal on the tree, she’d restart or take the last few things off and then redo them.
so to say it took y/n a long time to decorate the tree was an understatement. she was an hour and 45 minutes in and she still hadn’t finished.
colby was still sat in the same spot on the couch, growing slightly agitated with his girlfriend.
she was talking to herself, muttering and whispering ideas. and as harsh as it sounds, she was really getting on his nerves. he was just trying to edit a video for the channel, but y/n couldn’t be quiet.
her voice broke him out of his thoughts, “colbs? which do you think looks better? the silver bauble or the gold bauble?” he looked up, glaring, but y/n was too carried away to even notice the change in his demeanour.
“i don’t know,” he shrugged, “silver?” colby answered, looking back down at his laptop.
y/n turned back to the christmas tree, deciding wether to go with her boyfriends advice or not.
Tumblr media
y/n had officially finished decorating the christmas tree, after nearly two and a half hours, she only had one job left to do which was the star on top.
but the tree seemed to have quite a big height advantage on the girl, so she turned back around to colby.
“colbs, can you help me put the star on?” he tried to pretend that he hadn’t heard y/n, hoping that she would leave it and work the problem out herself; but she didn’t. “colbs?”
colby’s head snapped up, “what?!”
“can you help me put the star on, please?” she asked sheepishly.
“look!” colby began, placing his laptop off of his lap, “i’m trying to work, okay? but you are just constantly talking or asking me something about christmas or the decorations! when i don’t even care! i’m sick of all this christmas shit, y/n!”
y/n’s eyes glossed over at his harsh voice and choice of words and her bottom lip quivered.
“oh,” she spoke quietly.
colby could see what he had done. why did he get angry? why did he yell at her? he made her upset and he could tell.
y/n turned around and placed the star down back in the box, then turning to walk out of the living room, “y/n! wait- i didn’t-” but y/n shook her head and walked out of the room, heading upstairs.
colby shook his head and sighed, “fuck,” well done colby, well done.
Tumblr media
y/n had been significantly quieter that day. when colby came upstairs for bed, y/n didn’t speak unless colby spoke to her first. she hadn’t even left the room due to how embarrassed she felt.
but the following day, y/n was still asleep when colby woke up. so, he quietly got dressed, trying not to wake y/n up, knowing it’d be an awkward encounter for the couple. plus colby also wanted to go food shopping as they began running out of food in their fridge and should stock up before everything runs out in the stores.
so while colby was out, y/n had gone about the house and took down each decoration. she didn’t want colby to feel annoyed by all the christmas things.
she just wanted to warm him up to the idea of christmas, but from what he said last night, it clearly wasn’t working.
taking down the christmas tree was way quicker than putting it up, y/n came to realise.
once everything had been tucked back into their boxes, y/n had gone back upstairs to just lay down in bed. ever since colby said that, y/n had felt a lack of energy. she was hurting. she was so excited for her first christmas with colby, but it wasn’t going the way she hoped.
sam had stopped by the couples house, dropping off the other laptop they shared for editing videos. the boy let himself in as he’d been allowed a key to the house, due to his frequent visits.
“colby? y/n?” he called out.
y/n walked out of her room grudgingly, walking down the stairs. “hi,” she said.
“hey,” he answered, “are you okay?”
he could tell something was up. she wasn’t being cheery like she had been on the lead up to december, or when she spoke about how excited she was for it to be december soon enough. she nodded.
“where’s all the decorations?” sam asked, looking around the house, “i thought you said you were gonna decorate on the first, and it’s now the second?”
y/n looked down, trying to come up with an excuse, “oh, i just had a really busy day yesterday, i didn’t find the time to,” she lied.
sam nodded, not believing her in the slightest. “i was coming to give colby this, but i’ll just tell him to drop by before he comes home,” y/n nodded, “call me if you need anything, yeah?”
“yeah,” she muttered, “bye sam,”
“bye y/n,” he turned back around, closing the door behind him.
sam hopped into his car, pulling his phone out of his pocket and going to message sam.
stop by mine later, need to give you the other laptop and also need to speak to you
Tumblr media
colby had just arrived outside of sam’s appartment. he stepped out the car and walked to the house, opening the door.
“sam!” colby yelled. the said boy walked out from the kitchen and to colby, “you alright?” colby asked.
“yeah, just need to ask a few things and also give you the laptop,” sam answered, walking back into the kitchen, colby following his trail.
“yeah, what’s up?”
sam sighed, “why is your house not decorated?” sam asked. colby furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, “i mean, y/n wouldn’t stop talking about how excited she was to decorate and how she was gonna do it on the first, but when i stopped by earlier there was nothing,”
“wait- what do you mean, there was nothing?” colby asked, slightly puzzled.
“i stopped by, and there were no decorations. like at all. it looked like your everyday house. no signs of christmas, at all,” sam explained.
colby thought about it for a moment, taking a seat at the kitchen island. “shit,” he muttered, placing his head in his hands.
“what?”
colby sighed, “i got angry yesterday, when y/n was decorating. she kept asking me questions and i was really rude and i yelled at her. i saw her face, sam. she was nearly crying, i mean she probably did cry, but she kept it hidden from me,” colby explained, “fuck! i feel so awful, sam,”
sam shook his head, “you should have heard her before. she rarely spoke to you about it cause she knew you hated it, so she’d talk to me about christmas things. but she was so excited for it, colby. you’ve messed this up, bro,”
“i know…” he sighed, “i just- i’m not use to it, and i know that doesn’t excuse it, because it doesn’t, i shouldn’t have gotten angry,”
“glad you realised that!” sam answered.
Tumblr media
tomorrow was christmas. the day y/n was once looking forward to, but now didn’t even want to hear anything about it. she’d gone to bed quite early on christmas eve due to working all day.
colby had said he’d be up to bed in a few hours as he had a few things left to catch up on, like meetings and editing things and so on.
but colby didn’t come to bed until 3:27 in the morning.
colby spent six hours decorating downstairs. decorating the house how y/n had once made it. making it christmassy. how a house should be.
he even went shopping to buy all the food he would need for the dinner the next day. especially as the boy had invited everyone and everybody round for christmas dinner.
he had been so busy that time went quicker than he thought it had. he didn’t even notice when the clock struck 3am how long he’d actually been busy for.
and as he reached to put the star on the tree, he remembered what he said that day where he ruined y/n’s christmas cheer. but he hoped this would bring it back.
sure, colby still didn’t understand the whole christmas idea, but if it made his girlfriend happy, then he would learn about the christmas spirit.
when y/n woke up that dreaded morning, she noticed that colby was missing. she assumed he’d left as maybe he felt awkward, or that he’d gone to visit sam early.
but when y/n actually came round and fully woke up, she noticed the smell coming from downstairs. y/n furrowed her brows in confusion, so she stood up out from her bed and walked out of her room.
as she looked down the stairs she realised what colby had done.
the entire house had become ‘christmassy’. colby had redone all of y/n’s decorations and exactly how she had done them. everything was the same.
“colbs?” y/n called out.
colby rounded the corner of the kitchen, a smile playing on his lips, “d’you like it?” he asked.
y/n rolled her eyes playfully, running to him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“i love it, colbs. thank you,” she whispered.
“no, thank you,” he said, placing his hands on her face, making her look at him, “i was horrible to you that day. you were so excited about christmas and i ruined that, i’m so sorry,” he apologised.
y/n leaned in to kiss colby’s lips gently, planting a soft kiss to them. “i forgive you,” she replied, “but pleaseeeee can i give you your gifts now? i’ve been waiting for months to give you them!”

⍋↟⍋⋆꙳•̩❅‧͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆⍋↟⍋ The end of November crept up sooner than Eddie'd expected. Anyone around and available was invited to go tree cutting with the Byers. It was a whole thing involving saws, a Christmas tree farm, and copious amounts of hot chocolate. Eddie got some cut greenery himself, with the thought that it wouldn’t hurt to have a little solstice spirit.
After what felt like an impossible task, finding a tree that Will, El, and Joyce all liked (Hopper and Max being the indifferent parties), they finally chose one. After all of Max's sass and sarcasm, wandering the hillside for the perfect pine, she and Lucas were elected tree cutters. They both came away sticky with sap and the others promptly stuck crap they found to them. They ended up covered in pine needles, old receipts, and candy bar wrappers much to everyone else's amusement. Hopper, Eddie, and Steve hauled the tree back down to the farm's outpost to be wrapped and strapped to the roof of their SUV.
Eddie knew his arrangement with Steve wasn't one they necessarily wanted to share with the family. It was frankly, a bit more sexual than he wanted to explain. Steve had mentioned something similar on Black Friday. But Eddie had always been flirty with Steve… Stopping now would be suspicious, he thought smugly. So Eddie stayed flirty and found himself rewarded. Passing cocoa, brushing hands, getting tugged back into the trees for chocolatey tasting kisses... Eddie felt full of crackling fire that Steve kept building.

Steve had driven, and there was an understanding that they were headed back to his place that night. Eddie hopped in the passenger's seat after 'goodbyes' and profuse 'thank yous' to the Byers-Hopper fam for including them. It was a bit of a drive to get back to Hawkins, part of why they had 'carpooled’ together.
When they got on the road again, Eddie began to fiddle with the stereo, and Steve staunchly insisted on no Christmas music until December officially began the next day.
Eddie held his hands up off the console in surrender. "Wasn't gonna baby girl.”
After a long drive with Eddie and Steve approved tunes, they reached Steve's place. He pulled the Beemer into a detached garage not far from what appeared to be the home it belonged to. Eddie followed Steve out of the garage as he closed the door behind them. They used the stairs on the outside of the building to climb up and enter Steve's 'studio' apartment above. Steve entered first and briefly stood awkwardly at the door while Eddie walked in. Looking around, Eddie was just thankful the bathroom had a door. There was a small fridge, stovetop, and microwave with some cabinets along the back wall that counted as the ‘kitchen.’ The sad excuse for a kitchenette very much looked to have been slapped together and attached to that wall as an afterthought. There was no way the small shower/toilet space was up to any sort of building code either.
Eddie looked around, and while Steve appeared to have kept it clean it was… "So fucking ugly."
"Yeah. Apparently the owner finished this space as a room for his son when he was a teen." Steve ran a hand over the plaid wallpaper. "That was in the 80s. Guy left it exactly as his son had it." Steve's smile looked forlorn. "But it was furnished and cheap and wasn't the back of my car. So…" Steve gestured around the space.
Eddie kissed her on the cheek and poked around while Steve took off her boots and jacket. He saw a few femme pieces that hung in the open wardrobe, a couple of tops and way in back what looked like a sundress. Eddie felt as though his heart strings had been directly tugged, and hard at that.
He turned back to look at her, sitting on the bed, watching him. Her hair brushed her shoulders, all bounce and shine. She is such a sun kissed babe… Eddie already thought Steve was beautiful. One hundred percent Earth angel vibes. Now why the fuck am I wandering around when I could be wrapped around her right now? He kicked off his own shoes by the door and shrugged off his coat, onto the floor. Eddie waltzed over, straddled her legs, and sat onto Steve’s lap. He kissed her with the fire burning in him still. The fire they built up that evening from all those small touches out in the crisp, piney air.
Steve worked her hands up under Eddie's shirt and touched all the scars he never did. She worked the shirt off, over his head, and began kissing his chest. She rested her lips against his nipple before pausing and looking back up at him. Big brown eyes through long lashes.
"Christ, baby. What's that look supposed to mean?"
"Mmmm just wondering how sensitive your nipples are. Do you like them played with?"
"Angel, I'll get 'em pierced for you if you like, just don't stop kissing me?" He already ached to have her keep going. Steve batted her eyelashes and licked his nipple. Her tongue was pointed as she played with the hard tip. Circling and practically flicking it. "Fuck," Eddie murmured. It was definitely working for him. Steve seemed to like his response as she lightly sucked it, carefully setting her teeth on his nip to pull back gently. He moaned, and she bucked up against him. So this is turning her on too.
"Can you take me tonight gorgeous," she asked.
"I can try…" Eddie hesitated. He wasn't prepped to bottom, but Steve hadn't seemed to care that much before…
Steve read it on his face. She laid a hand on Eddie’s cheek. “You can go do whatever you think you need, but I don't… um don't worry about being… ah, pristine?"
Eddie giggled and got up off her lap. "I don't think anyone has ever called me pristine, princess. But I'll be back with you in a minute."
He watched her blush deepen when he said princess. She seems to really like the right gendered terms. Good to know. He did a quick clean in Steve's terribly tight bathroom and came back out to see her standing, waiting for him. Nude. She held a condom up.
Eddie bit his lip. "You're negative."
"Yes."
"And I trust you."
"Sounds like a question.” Steve laughed and shook her head. "It's not a problem."
Eddie stared longer at the circular package. "Wait." He walked over to her and relieved her of the prophylactic, tossing it onto the nearby desk. "I want to, bare."
Steve's eyes widened a little as their arms worked around one another. They pulled each other in closely, chest to chest. "I've never been in without one."
"Even girls?"
"Especially girls," Steve chuckled.
Eddie took in a deep breath and pulled out of Steve’s embrace. He began to strip the clothes he still had on. “That's a perk to this whole exclusive hookup deal right? So let's go for it.” Eddie bent over, braced on the bed. “Like this okay?"
Steve’s eyes raked over him, slack jawed. “Uh, yeah. If you’re comfortable?”
Eddie laughed. “I don’t want you to comfort me angel. I want you to fuck me.”

It's starting to snow by the time Steve gets home, white flakes floating in the headlights of the beemer like balls of cotton. It crunches under his feet as he sloshes towards the front door.
Even with Christmas more than two weeks away, they've been swamped with customers lately, the cold wind and unending snowfalls luring people inside. Now, away from the buzz, the world seems quiet. Peaceful, covered under its white blanket.
Except Steve still hasn't learned to trust that peace. Even after more than a year, even with El assuring them time and again that it's over, they've won, … he still flinches at sounds in the night, looks for escape routes and things to fashion into weapons when entering a room. He isn't sure he'll ever stop.
He shakes his head to chase away the thoughts as he scales the steps to the front porch. He isn’t sure where they're coming from. Probably a combination of stress and the looming depression that always hangs over him at Christmas time, when all of his friends are with their families and he's left in this big, empty house, alone. He’ll take a shower, heat a microwave meal, and see what's on TV, that will-
The front door is unlocked.
He's certain he turned the key not once, but twice before he left.
Steve slides into the dark entrance hall on silent feet. He passes the umbrella stand, eyes scanning his surroundings, and his hand finds the hilt of the nail bat. There's a creak from overhead, like feet on floorboards.
The attic.
The hatch is gaping open as he creeps upstairs, the foldout ladder down.
He holds his breath and inches his way upwards, rung by rung, bat clutched in one white-knuckled hand.
"Hello, Steven," growls a voice, and he abruptly comes face-to-face with a grimace full of too-large teeth.
Steve yelps, slips on the ladder, and goes sprawling on his ass. The nail bat rolls off into the shadows.
"Oh, shit!" Another face appears behind the monster. One haloed in a mane of dark curls and crowned by a fuzzy Santa hat. "You okay, man?"
"Fuck," Steve curses, clambering to his feet and rubbing at his sore butt. "Eddie? What are you doing up there?"
Eddie rolls his eyes and flashes him a toothy grin. It tugs at the scar on his jaw, the one he claims looks totally metal but hides under his hair most of the time. The one that Steve wants to map with his lips.
"Picking up that drill Wayne wanted to borrow. Told you I'd swing by after my shift at the garage."
Steve settles down on the dusty floorboards and frowns. "Wasn't that at noon or something?"
Like he doesn’t know. Like he hasn't memorized all of Eddie’s shifts. Only stopped dropping him off and picking him up every day because Eddie told him to stop. No satanic panic mobs left, no need for a bodyguard.
Eddie cocks his head in confusion and glances at his watch. "Why, what time is i- … whoops. Guess I got side-tracked."
He shakes the monster- which, upon closer inspection, turns out to be a life-sized nutcracker. Its red-cheeked, too-wide smile mocks him and Steve just barely manages to not flip it off.
Instead, he looks over the cardboard boxes around Eddie, all in various states of unpacked-ness. String lights coiled in thick tangles, dusty elves and reindeer and sugar canes.
"Dude," Eddie says. He's pulled several colorful baubles from somewhere and is looping the strings over his ears. It looks ridiculous. It looks adorable.  "You never told me you're hiding Santa's village up here."
"Didn’t even know we still had this," Steve mumbles, pulling the nearest box closer. It contains the huge neon letters spelling MERRY XMAS. "It's been forever since we got them out. Way before-"
He trails off. The words hang unspoken in the stale air.
"I always wanted this, y’know?" Eddie says. His fingers are tracing Rudolph's shiny nose. "The whole shebang with the lights and the decorations and the music. Only so much you can do at the trailer."
Steve hums vaguely, watches the way Eddie’s eyes crinkle, how the tip of the Santa hat flops into his face, and represses the urge to brush it back, trace those dimples with the pads of his thumbs.
Eddie is looking at him with big, expectant cow eyes.
"Huh?"
"I said," Eddie repeats, sways into his space. "We should totally do it. Get all this stuff out. The biggest, brightest, gaudiest display in all of Indiana."
Steve bites back a laugh, ignores how his stomach flutters at Eddie’s huge, excited grin.
"I dunno. Sounds like a lot of work for just me."
"Yeah, about that …" Eddie’s smile dims and his gaze drops. "I've been meaning to ask …"
He starts to pick at his cuticles, so Steve habitually reaches for one of his hands to stop him.
"Ask what?"
Eddie sucks in a breath, and the next words rush out on the exhale, all at once.
"So Wayne sort of took the holiday shifts because a guy got sick, so it'll just be me, and I thought …since you'll also be … alone, y'know, maybe we could …"
"Eds," Steve says. The flutter in his stomach is turning into a hurricane. "Are you asking if I wanna spend Christmas together?"
"What? Nah!" Eddie winks at him. "As if you'd deny me, please! I'm asking if we can get your ridiculous light show out."
Steve snorts a laugh, chest warm and tingly and bright. "What, all of it?"
"Hell yes, all of it," Eddie throws his head back and cackles, almost losing the hat. "It's gonna be our year, big boy!"
They stay up in the attic for a long time, bickering and joking and unpacking boxes upon boxes of sparkly decor. Outside, the snow continues to fall.
Steve hopes they'll get a white Christmas.

ohhhh my good dude you have made a Mistake. adopt a jock? whumpverse? merry crisis?? time loop??? you have given me a bounty of choices and buddy I'm about to feast.
starting with number 13. Joyce! tell me your damage! [gleeful]
(feel free to delete or ignore any or all of these, by the way. especially if they get overwhelming, 'cause I don't know how many I'm gonna send; I'm extremely excited for at least half of these, but that doesn't mean I wanna bowl you over with it!)
I'm excited you're excited lol, its a lot of fun to share little tidbits!!!
This one I made after I read the Xmas comic (wherein Hopper warns Steve off of coming in for dinner with the kids, because Joyce was mad at him over the demodog in her fridge.)
I wanted to play with the idea of a Joyce who was damaged by the way she's constantly treated as The Local Crazy Lady amidst the events of S1 and S2, who is still protective and wound up-- and her relationship with Hopper making her realize what she was actually doing was being the kind of adult she always hated. Treating Steve poorly because of his parents and not wanting to hear out his side of events.
(Also a side serving of Hopper having a second chance with Joyce but also this weird, pseudo father figure thing with Steve and that all his wavering on the matter is doing is hurting Steve.)
Snippet:
Monster’s existed long before one had kidnapped her son and Joyce hadn’t needed to see Jonathan’s face to know Steve Harrington was happily following in his father’s footsteps.
That’s the funny thing about small towns, after all. How high school haunted them all, long past when it should matter, when you should have grown past it.
How it haunts your kids too.
Joyce didn't get to see the side of Steve the same way the kids did. Didn't really hear about the relationship triangle and the part her eldest played in it, because she was far too busy making sure everyone was safe.
That the bills were paid, the lights always on and gas available for the cars. That the government didn't snatch away her son (and later, her daughter) for some gruesome program that they were allowed to break laws for.
Joyce had a lot of regrets--how long it had taken her to stand up to Lonnie, to remove him from her home. The fights she'd had with Jonathan, and how her eldest had taken over as a pseudo parent, stepping up without ever needing to be told to.
They had love though, and each other, and now…
Now she had Jim.
She just hadn't expected that having Jim, meant she also had Steve.
