"Baby let's go home. You're way too stressed right now. We'll have our own little party, just me and you. We'll watch a couple scary movies together, make some popcorn and eat lots of candy. Whaddya say, sweetheart?" He nods and takes my hand.

We head back downstairs to tell Emma we're leaving. She's in the kitchen talking with her parents on the phone, absolutely fuming at what had just happened. I go up to her "Hey Emma we're gonna go. Y/N is really stressed out right now."

"That's okay, Jenna. Y/N I'm sorry this happened. If you ever need to talk to me, just call. Okay?" He nods at her comforting words and pulls her into a gentle embrace. "I love you both. Drive safe." We nod and head out the house.

- 45 minutes later

Me and Y/N are sitting on the couch, out costumes off and into our pyjamas. We've got popcorn, candy, chips and other snacks at the ready for our horror movie marathon, starting with "Candyman" then after that "Halloween".

Y/N moves his head to my chest. My hand made its way through his hair. "Thanks for getting me out of there, Jenna. Any longer and I think I may of had a nervous breakdown." He chuckles.

"It's alright baby. You're safe now and we're gonna have lots of fun. Just you and me." He smiles, eyes staring at my lips. I lean forward and kiss him tenderly and gently, my hand cupping his cheek as I did.

It was definitely worth leaving that party. The time I get to spend with him is better than any party.

Strongest You've Ever Been (Part 2)

Warnings: Female lead, pet names, lots of fluff, bit of angst, mentions of blood and gore.

Characters: Zayne

Synopsis: You go to war, whilst pregnant.

A/N: Domestic moments with Zayne are killing me. I don't know if I should be writing a version for Xavier and Rafayel too. Btw, I need to know if I should include the other boys in the these fics or not.

The morning sickness was back. Well, it wasn't really morning sickness because you were nauseous almost all of the time and struggled to eat much. Zayne held your hair back as you threw up in the bathroom, rubbing circles on your back and soothing you before bringing you back to bed.

He had gotten incredibly protective over you all of a sudden, not like he wasn't before. You currently had a pillow supporting your back, his arms wrapped around your legs and his head on your lap. He refused to let go.

You looked over his shirtless back as you ran your fingers through his hair. He seemed to ease as time passed by.

"Zayne, are you alright?"

"I should be the one asking you that question..." He looks up from your lap, vulnerability evident in his features. He sighs. You smile at him and keep stroking his soft hair.

"Is something bothering you?"

He finally relents. "I'm...quite anxious..." he starts. You encourage him to go on.

"I'm so elated about the fact that I'm going to be a father but thinking about you throwing yourself in the face of danger has me worried for the safety of both of you." He softly touches your stomach.

"I'm going to make sure I'm alright Zayne, for you, for me and the growing life in me." you pause with a sad smile. "And my squad is almost as protective as you. When we tell them of my pregnancy, I'm pretty sure they're going to watch over me like hawks."

"Still does not reassure me." He mumbles.

"Oh Zayne..." You kiss his hair.

The time to get back to the frontlines had arrived. Zayne had successfully gotten hold of the permission to temporarily serve at the military facility in the current warzone. The both of you arrive at the barracks together, Zayne held your hand the entire way. The Z01 squad immediately welcomed you back, which was running at you so fast they almost toppled over each other, you included. But Zayne came in for the clutch, immediately whisking you away in his arms as Tyler and Eugene fell on top of each other.

"Hey! Mr. Husband! That is cheating!" Tyler complains.

"Yeah, why'd you just whisk her away?" says Eugene.

Zayne just sighs like an exasperated father, arm still around your waist.

You laugh. "We have something to announce."

"That Mr. Zayne's serving as a military doctor temporarily? We all knew that would happen." Jennie whispers.

"I can hear you, you know?" You say pointedly.

The squad quietens down.

"Okay, I'm pregnant. I will continue to serve my position as General, I have run it over with Captain Jenna and the other HQ officials. My Evol will still be used in order to protect you, be rest assured about it. There will be slight changes in the scheduling for troops directly under me--"

"Wait wait wait slow down!" another squad member exclaims.

"Yes? Any questions Ms. Davidson? You stop.

"You've just going to speed run over the fact that you're pregnant and expect us to go 'oh yeah makes sense'?!" Jennie throws her hands up.

You look around, confused. Zayne just stood slightly enamored by the authority in your voice.

"I don't understand..." you start.

"Well! We're going into war, you're pregnant, you're also the General, you have a heart disease and I'm pretty sure the entirety of the squad is concerned. But. WHO CARES WE NEED TO CELEBRATE." Eugene proposes loudly.

"You deal with a very energetic bunch." Zayne says, a small smile on his face.

"I know...but we have to get started on the plans and drafts--" you start saying but Zayne just moves away and pushes you towards them.

"Have fun."

"What no! Don't go! You're coming with me!" You grab his hand then look expectantly at your squad. Never having seen you so vulnerable before, they just cheer and half-carry, half-drag the both of you to the mess hall.

The morning after, a stillness had settled in the military settlement. You hadn't seen Zayne since the morning as he had gotten busy with tending to the wounded. The Metaflux ratings had spiked. Squadrons went into the containment zone under your lead and you waited until the worm hole appeared again. This time, you were more prepared but also scared. You ordered your soldiers into formation and almost in queue, the Wanderers appear. You could see many of the hunters stood closer to you, poised and ready. With a surge of gratefulness in your heart. You charged into battle.

You took down enemies with a grace that had your squad feeling proud of having you as their Captain. The Wanderers did not mindlessly attack this time, they stood in a formation, led by orders. You didn't like the behavior. Aiming at another wanderer, you shot before it impaled a soldier. You were scared about overexerting yourself so you stood at a distance, using ranged weapons only.

Before a wave of nausea hit you and you dropped to your knees on the ground. Tyler shouts your name from the side whilst fighting a wanderer.

"Captain! Are you aright?"

You take a deep breath, look up and shoot at your target, still on your knees. You shout back at him.

"I'm your General on the battlefield."

You hear Tyler grunt but still spare a look to smile at you. You sign 'don't get distracted' at him and once again do your graceful dance.

You squat down behind a destroyed house, gun to your chest and listening for the threat. A wanderer roams slowly looking for you. Eugene, Tyler and a senior member of the squad named Amir are all close.

"Target at 2'o clock. Get ready." you whisper.

"Roger."

"General, are you sure you're going to be okay?" Amir asks.

"I can fight Mr. Zhafran. Be rest assured. If I do drop, I'm counting on the lot of you."

"You're scaring me Gen.." Tyler says, looking like he was about to cry. You sigh.

"You can hug me later, just focus on the target at hand right now."

"...Roger." Tyler says, his voice breaking as he sniffs.

Zayne can feel anxiety creeping up on him. While his face betrays no emotion, his steady hands show no sign of shaking, his mind wanders.

'What if you come back hurt?'

'What if you're too tired to come back?'

'What if--'

So many 'what ifs' eat at him. Unable to take it anymore, he walks out of the infirmary and looks into the containment zone. He can see silhouettes of people, bright flashes of Evol and can hear lots of screaming. The ground is bloodstained, some mutilated bodies lie close. The stench of sweat, blood and rotten flesh wafts in the air. He immediately regrets coming outside as his fears become more deep-rooted. The sight was nothing he wasn't used to but thinking about you in this same situation...

He is brought out of his spiraling thoughts by his phone vibrating in his pocket. Its Dr. William.

"Yes, what is it Dr. William?"

"Just called to check up on you. Are you busy?"

"Not currently and I'm fine. Is there anything important you wish to talk about?" he asks.

"Let me ramble, nothing important. You know, you could have at least thanked me for helping you get that permit. You just rushed out of the hospital like you were being chased."

"Thank you." Zayne says, deadpan. There's silence on the other side.

"I can almost see you rubbing your nose bridge in anxiety in my mind's eye." William says, his voice gentler now. Zayne sighs.

"Your wife is one of the strongest women I know. Going into war while pregnant. She's going to get one of those fancy military awards for sure when she comes back. Have you seen her fight?" William says with an excitement in his voice.

Zayne smiles to himself. "I have yes. I was frankly impressed by her skills."

"Yeah you see? Everything is going to be just fine." William reassures, ever the cheerful guy.

"I'll have to take your word for it."

An announcement goes off.

"The squad on the Eastern battlefield has been wiped out. All military trained medical personnel are requested to come to the safe camp in the containment zone immediately. There has been a flux of wounded and casualties in the eastern squad. I repeat--"

Zayne feels his heart drop.

"Oh no, I'll call you later. Go!" William hangs up.

Zayne almost drops his phone while bolting. Rushing to meet the other doctors, Zayne follows them into the containment zone. When he reaches the eastern battlefield, he immediately gives out orders to start with their healing. He can see the immense massacre and subconsciously looks for your face. It wasn't long before he saw your face, his only reprieve was you weren't wounded.

"Zayne!' you say, while fending off a wanderer. You shoot it between the eyes, pull out a dagger from inside your boot and chop another's neck off. A third arrives, you drop to the ground and use your feet to kick up into the wanderer's face. You then use your Evol to jump high into the air and drop kick the wanderer, your Evol enhanced strength effectively buries the wanderer neck deep into the ground. Zayne watches, awestruck before hurriedly resuming his duty. Troops appear around the doctors, protecting them as they help wounded hunters. Zayne reassures himself that you're going to be alright and continues with diligence.

"Standby team, get into formation and come to set co-ordinates immediately." You order.

"Get the stretcher ready. We need the defibrillator, carry patient into the camp immediately. Make sure to sterilize the surroundings." Zayne instructs.

Together the both of you help bring a moment of peace to the battlefield. Its almost the end for this day.

There's a quietness that you cannot bear after the immense amount of screaming. Nobody talks. A lone wanderer appears from the very edge of the battlefield. Everybody gets ready. You are starting to feel extremely exhausted and can barely keep your eyes open. Losing balance, you steady yourself on a nearby hunter.

"General..." they say, holding you steady.

"This is the last one remaining?" you ask, feeling sick to your bones.

"Yes ma'am. You should sit down for a while, we will be able to take care of it."

You put your hand on your stomach. No matter how much you want to step onto the battlefield with your soldiers, you did not want to make Zayne more worried about you than he already was.

"Okay."

You had collapsed. Zayne immediately came into the infirmary after his latest patient was stable. He would only be able to stay for 15 minutes max but he wanted to utilize whatever little time he had with you. Sitting down on a chair beside the bed, he grasps your hand in his.

"Are you going to do this to yourself for the next month or so?" he whispers, bringing your hand to his lips and closing his eyes. You stir.

"Mm...Zayne..." you say in your sleep. He clutches your hand tighter.

"I'm right here." he whispers, not knowing if you were awake or simply calling his name out in your sleep. You did that a lot and he found it incredibly endearing.

"Zayne.." you say again and open your eyes, finding yourself eye to eye with a very blurry image of him. "Why are you still awake...go to sleep..."

Zayne smiles sadly, listening to your half-asleep rambling.

"Its not time to sleep yet, love. Though for you it is. I recall you saying you would not over-exert yourself..."

"I tried..." you say, weakly pulling his arm, wanting him to get into bed with you.

"I still have some work to do Y/N..." he scolds, yet gets under the sheet, throwing one hand under your head and the another over your waist. His presence like a warm blanket, making you feel safe and loved. You feel his fingers stroke your hair and detangle the knots in them. You bury your face in the crook of his neck.

"How are you feeling?"

"Okay now.."

"Be honest y/n." he scolds gently.

"Mm...nauseous and tired. My boobs hurt but they look bigger teehee." You look into his eyes. The both of you look dead tired.

"That is normal during pregnancy. Please tell me if there's something out of the ordinary. If there's blood--"

"Stop, I'm scared enough already."

Zayne almost instantly shuts up. You look up slightly guilty but he just kisses your forehead.

"My apologies."

"You don't have to apologize you big oaf."

"Oaf? Me?" he looks amused.

"Big Snowman?"

"How about Dr. Zayne? Doesn't that fit?"

"Big Snowman." you declare. You feel his chest vibrate as he laughs.

"You were amazing today." he muses.

"Oh yeah, you saw me."

"If you fight like that everyday, I cannot help but be concerned."

"The eastern squad was wiped out Zayne...I...got angry..." sadness clouds your voice. "We're going to hold a memorial for the deceased soldiers tomorrow. There were some we couldn't even get the bodies of." you pause, continuing in a whisper, "I don't know how I'm going to face their families..."

"Y/N..." You fall into silence.

"There were times when patients had died by my hands when I had spent and immense about of time, put an incredible amount of effort into saving them. If they still didn't make it, I would feel devastated and you would come comfort me." he says.

"But this is the thing, you tried your very best and that is what matters. You cannot spread yourself too thin, cannot protect everybody. That is reality, maybe with time the grief will lessen."

"Does grief really go away with time?" you ask, letting yourself be taken care of, be scolded, be comforted. You were human after all, you couldn't be strong all the time and you had an amazing person to be vulnerable with. So why not?

"No, but people can simply get used to being in sorrow."

Somebody opens the door, making Zayne look up from your embrace. Tara, your friend looks into the room, gives Zayne and apologetic look. "Just a little announcement, Dr. Zayne you can stay here if you want. The patients in the ward have been taken care of, many of them are stable now. Please rest, and you too Y/N, don't forget that I'm mad at you." she says sadly before leaving.

"Stay with me?" you ask Zayne.

"I would never say no to your requests love."

Just a quick genderbend Wednesday name headcanons before I forget

Wednesday stays Wednesday because it's unisex and it means something to Maurice (I could've kept Morticia since it's originally a male name, but I don't want to keep too many names, and I like Maurice, it feels ellegant. Also did you know Gomez is also a female name by origin? Anyways, I wanna change it too, so I think Gloria? is that still acceptable? For Pugsley I've searched for a while, but the perfect name was accually super close, Paisley! And that's the genderbent Addams Family for me)

Can't name Goody anything else than it's male version, It'd feel out of place, so Goodman it is ig

Enid is unisex I think, but I'm gonna go with Ennard (I don't play fnaf as for now and I'm not a huge fan, but I know of the existance of the character)

For Eugene, I think I'm gonna go with Eudora (apparently it means good gift, and he is), alltho Eugene has a female version, that'd be so basic

For Ajax, I think Imma go with Alexis, the meaning is nice and all, but I'm just happy it sounds similar

Xavier's female version is Xavia and I think Imma go with that cus why not?

Tyler is obviously gonna be Taylor, but just in case, lemme do a meaning check... yep, both are french by origin with basic meanings, checks out

For Bianca, I think Imma go with Byron, just for the heck of it

Lucas is gonna be Lucy, basic and normie

And I think the last characters Imma name are Laurel or Lawrence, and Josephine Crackstone, because what would we do without the villains? Marilyn is also a male name, so Lawrence is keeping it as a fake name

Equinox's Journey

The game that Root ended up falling into in the Small Town Hero AU. It's the developers copy, and she was hastily added in the newest patch for all servers.

It would follow the story as Hilde(F)/Xavier(M)/Arun(NB) as they traverse the lands in the hope of ending the fued between Kaiah and Mar. Root came in the newest update after the protagonist was expelled from the Espi Empire after trying to reveal its corruption.

It's a game similar in style to Genshin Impact, but.. better.

Hilde/Xavier/Arun

The protagonist of Equinox's Journey. The protagonist is choosable and customizable, but the creator's version (the one Root fell into) is coded to have all three. Their standard looks are brown hair, blue eyes, and a standard mage's outfit.

Hilde is the female protagonist.

Xavier is the male protagonist.

Arun is the gender neutral protagonist.

The protagonist was originally the Celestial Mage of the Espi Empire, keeping it safe from Kaiah and Mar. However, after stumbling upon the emperor plotting with cultists to allow monsters to invade, the protagonist rebelled. They were banished following this, though the people who believe them (other playable characters) come with.

In the new update, called 'The Dragon that Faces the Earth and Sea', follows the protagonist as they head to Shorefront to meet the 'Dragon' that can go against the minions of Kaiah and Mar without being hurt.

The Dragon that Faces the Earth and Sea

The update follows the protagonist as they make their way to Shorefront and get to witness the 'Dragon of Shorefront' in action. It's a beautiful dragon that oddly has no wings. It's scales are a pristine white. Soft white horns twister and curled, almost like the branches of a grand tree, and around the smaller branches were pure white vines. The creature's claws were long and sharp, yet scuffed and dull.

Once the monster is defeated, the protagonist introduces themselves the dragon, who transforms and reveals herself to be called Root Mallory. She's very reluctant to help out the protagonist, and a lot of it is trying to convince her. During this, Root's inability to remember her past comes to light, and the protagonist (and fandom) believe her to be a Beyonder, someone who came from another world.

However, she and the protagonist eventually uncover a plot from a noble, and it gives Root the amount of trust she needs to agree to leave Shorefront and come.

The protagonist places a spell so that Shorefront is protected from the monsters, and the party sets off. But not before being met by a Wandering Arcanist and a Wandering Merchant, both in cloaks. The Wandering Arcanist warns the protagonist that they may have more things to worry about in the future. More pressing than the Espi Empire and Kaiah and Mar.

After that, they vanish. There are some people who comment that Root looks pretty seemingly similar to SMG4!Root, but their concerns are drowned out. After all, the update is great!

(But the developers don't even know who the hell the Wandering Arcanist and the Wandering Merchant are meant to be.. they don't even have models about them..! Oh, well. At least people like the update.

Reasons I ship Cherik:

1.) I relate to Charles Xavier, especially young movie Charles WAY too much person up in everyone's business, helps everyone but never accepts help themselves, overly empathetic yet unable to read the room in certain situations, depressed and parental issues, pacifist, he's my projector slate in this fandom, and as such, he almost automatically becomes bi in my head 2.) I also relate to Erik Lehnsherr, young movie version, in a sense, at least as a German mothertongue with a gift for linguistics, also by growing up with my grandma, World War II still feels very personal to me. Also, his anger at the world is very occasionally also me. 3.) In whatever canon you go, the dynamic of these two is INTENSE 4.) Them being the two co-dads of the X-Men is basically almost canon 5.) Their supposed female love-interest are for the most part pretty bland (at least in the films) 6.) I'm a sucker for power balance 7.) Them having romantic feelings for each other adds to their tragedy, when they were literally everything to each other, friend, brother, lover (Wait...) and then, they lose it 8.) There is a certain comfort in two characters being able to separate (most of the time) their diverging political opinions from their personal feelings towards each other and being there for each other in time of need even when they chose opposing sides on the battlefield. 9.) Their relationship has a whole meta-thing going on where one could easily interpret them as incarnations of the principle of yin and yang, active and passive, heat and cold, internal and external, constantly in a circle of attraction and repulsion, but in the end, you need both to survive. 10.) They brought me to learn chess.

Timeline (1986 - 1996): Scott delegated yet another write-up onto me. I hope he knows he can't use this "conflict of interest" excuse forever. This whole project is one big conflict of interest, but whatever. I, for one, don't need an excuse to talk about the second-coolest lady mutant I know. And Jean lived with the first on my list, so I know she won't take it personally.

Jean was the middle child of five to two college professors in Annadale-on-Hudson. Her parents doted on her, her big sis and little brothers loved her, she was the happiest little girl north of Broadway. Then one day, when Jean was ten, something horrible happened. Jean and her friend Annie were playing outside, when Annie ran out into the road and was struck by a car.

As Annie was clinging to life, Jean's mutant powers emerged prematurely, using her telepathic powers to try and hold onto Annie, but she didn't make it. Jean felt someone die more closely and directly than most people ever will, and on top of that Jean's powers were like an open wound, her mind taking in every stray thought and feeling around. Eventually, Jean couldn't take it anymore and fell into a catatonic shock.

Timeline (1996 - 1997): Eventually, Jean was admitted to the Millbury Clinic, at the time was one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country. The Greys were worried for their littlest, and who and what "Millbury" was connected to and had done wasn't yet exposed, so let's not hold it against them. After all, even after admitting Jean, they didn't call it a day. They kept looking into what had happened to their daughter, and that eventually got them in contact with Professor Xavier, who was still holding down his residency at ESU at the time.

It would be easy to give Xavier the credit of bringing Jean out of her coma, entering her mind and having a psychic counseling session, but right before Xavier went down to the Millbury Clinic, Jean had a brief anchor for her powers. The mental image of a boy her age with fire blasting out from his eyes altered the empathetic side of her powers. Xavier at least put in some mental blocks on his way out, to help curb the flow of thoughts and sensations Jean would be overwhelmed with otherwise.

Timeline (1997 - 2002): Jean was given a clean bill of health (Something "Millbury" didn't hesitate to take credit for publicly), but the incident with Annie still left an effect on her. As a teenager, the formerly outgoing Jean grew more withdrawn and introspective. She cut her hair, started wearing more muted clothes, and while supportive with others almost never opened herself up to someone else.

This is the time Jean's artsy side started to grow. This all wasn't too long ago, but it was still long enough for being an outed mutant was unthinkable, and though Jean can be quiet and shy, she is absolutely not the type to bottle herself up. That need for visibility is probably where her modeling and performative art stuff first came from, and trying to make sense of her powers is probably why she's so fond of more abstract art and music. All of it is just kinda static to me, but you do you, girl.

Her interest in behavioral science also came up around here. Even with her powers under control, a great deal of maintenance was still needed, and even though Xavier's blocks cut down Jean's telepathy, she had enough to grow fascinated with why people are the way they are. Speaking of Professor Xavier, he and Jean kept in contact over this time, doing check-ups and psychic training both in-person and across the state.

Around the end of her junior year, Xavier approached Jean's parents to ask her involvement in a pilot study of his, one that was meant to test out what would become the school. Jean had managed to graduate early and was ready to go to college down in the city, but she swore to her parents she could handle both. To try and sweeten the pot, Xavier offered to cover Jean's housing, which is how she first met Ororo. The two hit it off, both being beauties with big hearts who love all that artsy stuff. Ororo's influence definitely helped get Jean out of her shell, too.

Timeline (2002 - 2003): Jean was at the mansion the day Scott first arrived. She had told Xavier about her visions of him while in her coma, which helped him to track him down years before. Jean thought giving Scott a telepathic greeting would be a cute reunion, but Scott himself didn't seem to agree. Apparently, Scott said he wasn't used to having someone poke around in his head, but he'd also been in contact with the Professor for years up to that point, so I don't buy it (Nor does anyone else).

Jean did much better next time around, when Dr. McCoy first showed up at Xavier's doorstep. He stumbled in in a fugue state, one that even Xavier didn't know what to make of. Fortunately, Jean had been honing her empathy since then, and was able to get Dr. McCoy out of his funk. Wren, that was a different story. Being such a type-a personality, there was a sort of pecking order made by Wren with the only other girl in the group, but thankfully Wren learned to chill out before long. And Bobby, Jean said that he reminded him of one of her little brothers, so it wasn't all that hard to buddy up with him. So before they were even legit, Jean had been the heart of the team from the start.

When Jean first agreed to work with Xavier on mutant activism, she said she was planning on doing it in a sort of capacity Xavier was doing at the time. Helping from a distance, but not too far that her safety or anonymity could ever be put at risk. That's to say that she was probably the last person to ever see herself doing what they would do in Santo Marco that March.

But, believe it or not, while it was Scott and his rousing speech that convinced Xavier to intervene, and Dr. McCoy who told the rest of them the bad blood between Xavier and Magneto, and the whole idea of a mutant response team was first pitched between the two ex-friends years earlier, it was Jean that got all those moving parts together.

She's the one who lent the emotional support to get Scott to make that rousing speech in the first place. Just a few hours later, she and the rest of them were flying into an in-progress international incident. Talk about getting out of your comfort zone, huh?

Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge: “Pilot” | February 16, 2010 (online) | Pilot Debuted on DVD on October 27, 2009 Aired on television March 29, 2010 @ 12:15AM

I’m not sure I’ve watched this since it aired on TV in 2010. There’s a reason for that.

Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge originally debuted on DVD as part of the Adult Swim Pilots DVD, which was originally part of the Adult Swim in a Box DVD set. It had it’s non-home-video debut online as part of the Burger King Big, Über, Network Sampling event, where people were invited to log on and vote between two shows that were ostensibly competing with one another for a shot at airing on television and then, MAYBE, becoming a series. The first match-up happened on February 16, and was between this and Snake ‘n Bacon, which previously aired on TV and was covered already.

Cheyenne Cinnamon is a vapid pop-star in a similar vein as, uh (tries to look up who was a current female pop star around in 2009), Britney Spears (sorry, it was too hard), projecting a wholesome image while having an unsavory dark side that involves drugs and promiscuity.

Cheyenne lives in her Sugar Town Candy Fudge which presumably exists as a sorta girl-version of Neverland Ranch. The difference between boy Neverland Ranch is that it exists to aid and abet the molestation of little boys. Girl Neverland Ranch exists presumably for similar reasons, except she is in a permanent state of arrested development due to her own sexual abuse. But that’s not really what this is about. It’s more about how whoreish pop stars are HYPOCRITES.

Emily is a young fan of Cinnamon’s, voiced by Kristen Schall. She’s an awkward girl who was impregnated by her softball coach. She lives in Detroit, which is depicted as a dystopian hellscape, basically Robocop stuff. Cheyenne Cinnamon’s magical land is just outside of Detroit, and Emily seeks her out for guidance. Cheyenne Cinnamon is of no help, and winds up doing more harm than good. There’s songs, which are okay. Cheyenne Cinnamon is voiced by Neko Case from FREAKING HIPSTER MUSIC, but her singing voice is actually Sofia Toufa, likely a contractual thing. They do make jokes about Cheyenne clearly lip-syncing; at one point she loses interest in her song and wanders away, lighting a cig.

The animation was CGI, and it looked roughly a little better than Lucy: Daughter of the Devil. But not as good as Xavier: Renegade Angel. Does that make any sense? Probably not. And yet it’s completely true.

This was created by Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro. There’s a lotta familiar voices in this thing, including one Chris Ward, aka MC Chris. I read, and vaguely remembered, that he was the one who rallied his fanbase to vote for this during the Burger King event. It subsequently won, subsequently aired, and subsequently sucked. I hated this!

The BKBUNS (hey, it was an acronym this whole time! Who knew?) was, as previously mentioned, an event where viewers were urged to vote on various pilots that went head-to-head in various match-ups. Then the winners from those match-ups went against each other until there was a clear victor. Spoiler alert, Cheyenne Cinnamon won.

I don’t fully recall how it worked, but I do remember it seemed a little bit like a mess. One pilot had multiple versions presented, and one show wound up having TWO pilot episodes, the second of which dropped after voting already started. I think. I don’t actually know that, honestly. I remember feeling discouraged from voting because it seemed like the stuff you were voting on kept morphing into different versions of itself, like if a presidential candidate suddenly sprouted a second head on election day.

Starting with this year, I’m making a push towards legitimizing online content in certain cases. Originally the idea was to just cover what aired on TV, but the line between online and TV had already begun blurring. Most shows primarily have their TV airdates available, but I’m not going to go out of my way to determine if they debuted online a few days before. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but there was a time when they actually debuted new episodes online first, then they’d air on TV a few days later. Pinning down all those dates seems like a nightmare, though. But stuff like this just makes more sense.

The matchups will be mentioned as I cover each pilot. My original research for this told me that a UK version of this existed that used “Gumball” (The Amazing World of, I assume?) as one of the pilots? But that piece of information seems to have disappeared. Could it be bogus? I don’t think I care either way!

I am pretty sure that screenshot is from one of the promos. I couldn't find one to check (I didn't really try, honestly), but I think they literally were mostly text, and that bit of Robot-Chicken-style animation was like, 2 seconds long and just was of that guy smiling. A terrific gift. I hope I dream about this man tonight. Goodnight!

Hello! Do you take ask about X-men too? I really love your meta on Jean, Carrie and Shigaraki, I was wondering on your thoughts on Rogue and her character arc, can be any version of her since she's my fav

My X-Men knowledge is limited and stops a few arcs after Kitty Pryde joined and Dark Phoenix happened. However, I will do my best to field your ask since you said any version of her.

X-men Evolution Rogue is my favorite version of her, though admittedly it is vastly different from the comics. Comic Rogue is more of a charming southern belle, not a goth type outcast and loner. What X-Men evolution does well in this version is portray Rogue's power as something that makes her life worse in all aspects. There's a post going around that's like "there's a huge difference in your mutant ability being the power to control storms, and a mutant power that can kill someone by touching them."

Rogue's power has destroyed all chances she has of a normal life, but she also does not exactly fit in among the X-men. To begin with it makes her a target for grooming by her adoptive mother mystique. The show even starts her out as a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before joining Xavier's academy, something that makes her deeply untrusting of them even after she is brought into the fold.

I used a picture of Rogue and Kitty Pryde because Rogue is used as a shadow archetype to both Kitty and Jean in the show in many ways, Jean is the main female leader team, the popular girl in high school that's too nice for you to ever get jealous of. Jean inhabits the position Rogue desperately wants both by being by Scott's side, but also by having a power that's actually useful and being a trusted member at the center of the group. Rogue pretty clearly wants to be where Jean is, but she also never really takes it out on Jean which is what makes the female characters in this show so interesting they can have complex relationships without resorting to getting catty.

Speaking of catty, Kitty Pryde. Most likable of likable characters. Kitty and Rogue are two sides of the same coin where they are the younger members, and newer recruits. Even in the comics that's Kitty Pryde's whole character conception, they put her on the team to give the perspective of an actual high school student suddenly joining Xavier's academy. Kitty however, unlike Rogue has a power that is mostly harmless and at times incredibly useful. She is also someone who is integrated into the group, whereas Rogue for a long time remains the outsider. There's actually an entire episode dedicated to this with the famous dance scene that still goes around in gifs. Basically Spike is just trying to make a film and asks Rogue to dance, and then when her dancing is still he suggests she touch Kitty for a fraction of a second to absorb and copy her dancing skills.

They are actually pretty similiar even if at times they argue, it's just Rogue's powers have influenecd her life in a way where it's gone in a much different direction until now. X-Men Evolution also does a more serious job at analyzing Rogue's powers, such as the episode where all of the people she's touched and copied remain as fragments in her head and she almost loses herself to it.

Rogue is the shadow archetype in the show, but she is still heroic unlike other shadow archetypes which usually turn into more negative and villainous foils which goes to show the strength of her character. She's moody, detached, traumatized from her mother figure's grooming but also her entire arc is coming to terms with these things. She has not had a normal life, nor is she a normal girl, but she can live with all of it.

Rogue's crush on Scott is a pretty big aspect of the show, and you know not even in the comics but I kind of like it because like I said Scott is like the epitome of what Rogue thinks she desires. It is once again Rogue desiring to be someone she's not, more like Jean, more like Kitty, rather than just accepting herself. Which is why towards the last season when she finally lets go of Scott, and starts to interact with Gambit more it feels like she has moved towards growth and self-acceptance because she's no longer wanting what she can't have and instead is more content with her place in the world and can get along with another outsider like Gambit.

Wolverine / Laura Kinney

Laura Kinney is a Mutant who was artificially engineered using genetic material stolen from the X-Man known as Wolverine. Laura was created by the shadowy organization known as The Facility. The villains behind her creation sought to recreated the Weapon X experiment and generate a clone of Wolverine to use as their own personal assassin and enforcer.

The geneticist, Sarah Kinney, was tasked to lead the project, proposing to create a female subject after twenty-two failed attempts due to a damaged Y chromosome in the genetic material. Contradicting her superiors, Kinney mixed her own genetic material with Wolverine's and became the surrogate mother to the experiment, giving birth to Laura (who was designated as subject number X-23).

In The Facility, Laura was forged into a lethally efficient weapon, being constantly brutalized by her trainer, Kimura. Though the young woman did receive a glimpse of tenderness from Dr. Kinney, who sacrificed herself so to allow Laura to escape The Facility.

Seeking to put an end to vile weapons like herself, Laura tracked Wolverine to the X-Men Mansion in an effort to eliminate him. Wolverine was able to fend her off and restrain his young attacker. He argued Laura had been a victim and offered to help her. Reluctantly at first, Laura ultimately accepted this offer and joined The Xavier Institute.

Laura would go on become a member of the Academy X training group while secretly also acting as an operative of Wolverine’s covert squad, X-Force. During this time, Laura was involved in a romance with her fellow student, Hellion.

She later she joined the Avengers Academy and was abducted by Arcade and forced to compete in the murderous Avengers Arena. Throughout all of this, Laura had used the alias of X-23, accepting the identifier bestowed onto her by The Facility. She would go on to better work through the various traumas of her past and decided to effectively rebrand herself as the all-new Wolverine, wishing to honor the man who she had come to see as a father. The original Wolverine was believed dead at the time. He eventually returned and the two agreed that they could share the moniker of ‘Wolverine.’

Not long thereafter, Laura met new clones of herself that were created by the sinister corporation, Alchemax Genetics. Laura would take in the youngest of these clones under her wing as her sister. Laura and her sister, Gabby, formed a new family and the pair embarked on numerous adventures together.

More recently, Laura has relocated to the island nation of Krakoa where she was elected as a member of the new flagship iteration of The X-Men.

A version of Laura/X-23 featured in the movie, Logan, where portrayed by actress Dafne Keen. The heroine originally appeared in the X-Men: Evolution animated series; her first comic book appearance was in the pages of NYX #3 (2003).

“I’m more interested in looking for something transitory than in producing a conclusion.”

“I’m interested in contingency,” the French artist Pierre Huyghe has said. “Of what is not predictable. Of what is unknown. I think that has somehow been a core of my work.”1 Pursuing interests in contingency and unpredictability, Huyghe creates art forms that incorporate living organisms, such as dogs, turtles, spiders, peacocks, ants, and bees. Over the course of an exhibition, his living works of art grow, decay, and die. Huyghe said, “They are not made for us. They are not made to be looked at. They exist in themselves.”2

Throughout his career, Huyghe has experimented with many mediums and technologies, including film, sculpture, photography, music, and living ecosystems. At the outset of his career, Huyghe collaborated with artists whose work explored human relations and their social context; to describe their interests, the curator and art critic Nicolas Bourriaud coined the term Relational Aesthetics. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Huyghe’s works often reenacted notable artworks or popular footage from mass media. In Silence Score (English Version), a musical notation of John Cage’s pivotal composition 4'33", he created a readable score for the silent piece using a computer algorithm.

In 1997, with artists Charles de Meaux, Philippe Parreno, and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and curators Xavier Douroux and Franck Gautherot, Huyghe cofounded a film production company called Anna Sanders Films. They named the company after a fictional character first developed in a magazine released in 1997. Blanche-Neige Lucie, the company’s first film, stars Lucie Doléne, the voice actor who dubbed the Disney character Snow White in French, and who won a lawsuit against the Walt Disney Corporation for the rights to the reproduction of her voice. The film features Doléne humming the melody of “Someday My Prince Will Come” in an empty film studio, facing the camera, while her story is told through the subtitles. The work explores how a voice can be used to create a character, and who then owns that product.

The Host and The Cloud fuses scripted action and improvised narratives generated by the actors. The yearlong project records theatrical events that took place in an abandoned museum in Paris on three holidays: the Day of the Dead, Valentine’s Day, and May Day. In a variety of fictional settings, 15 actors clad in LED masks perform alongside puppets and animation. These spontaneous elements reflect Huyghe’s interest in contingency and adding dynamic layers to his storylines.

Originally created for Documenta 13 in 2012, Huyghe’s Untilled (Liegender Frauenakt) is a reclining female nude whose head is covered by a live beehive. The work was part of an entire ecological system the artist created in a composting area in Karlsaue Park in Kassel, Germany. In a video Huyghe filmed during the exhibition, his camera captured a wide range of beings at different scales, including minute species that are barely visible to the naked eye. Huyghe aims to “intensify the presence of things, to find its own particular presentation, its own appearance and its own life, rather than subjecting it to pre-established models.”3 With interest in “the transitory state, in the in-between,” his complex worlds blur the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, the physical and the virtual, and the real and the fictional.4 In 2015 and again in 2023, the statue found itself in MoMA’s Sculpture Garden, placed in a new context and in conversation with other works of art. During the summer, the bees travel in and out of the garden to pollinate and build their hive.

Huyghe’s artistic practice reflects his belief that life is in constant flux, and that all beings exist beyond the perceivable realm of human senses and knowledge. By engaging with unconventional materials and technologies, he provides us with a way to see, feel, and experience the wild, untilled world we are living in.
