What I love about Iga Świątek (well, I love everything about her but let's just ignore that for the sake of the post) is that recently she said that there are so many causes one can support when given the platform. And boi, does she have one. And she chose the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She seems like a Ukrainian tennis fans' comfort person because she wears the pin on her cap all the time and keeps reminding everyone that the aggression isn't over yet. Of course, there are people on the tour who supported this cause but she acts as an active reminder there's still work to be done. It doesn't mean she doesn't support gender equality, equal pay and all the other issues surrounding women's tennis and more but there are already people actively working on that. She organised a charity event and mentions things are far from being done in Ukraine. And she gets tons of hate for that, too, even in Poland because there isn't a limited supply of assholes in the world and that includes the country who helped their neighbours flee war.

It's a sad day for me as a Pole and an Iga's fan, lots of compassion (and sleep deprivation because I had to wake up at the ungodly hour that is 3:00 AM to see her clash with Ostapenko) as she's stepping down for, well, a very controversial person to say the least, but I also believe she's got a lot to do in this sport. She's already made history as the best Polish tennis player of all time, regardless of gender, and she's only 22. She will come back and she, again, will be a force to reckon with. And boi, will she be feared.

As a bonus, thanks to watching Iga, I fell in love with Karolína Muchova's tennis and I'm so happy she made the top10 of the WTA rank. 💞 Will be supporting her and Ons until the end of the USO.

i genuinely can't think of a more deserving winner than coco today. she stayed so calm and collected throughout the entire match, but she's been on such an impressive run. To think that in less that 4 months she's bounced back from losing at Wimbledon's first round by winning her first WTA 500, 1000 and now grand slam is amazing. She's so so talented and we're so lucky to be experiencing this amazing period of women's tennis.

Today wasn't Aryna's day, but she's played brilliantly this year, and thouroughly deserves that no. 1 spot!!
