Personally, I am not much of a stamp person. I have a few that I enjoy and find cute, but I do not get the allure of having a bunch of stamps around. I use some from time to time, but I find I am too impatient to wait for them to dry and I get frustrated with the ink not working. * * I picked up this ink flower and that changed the way the stamps are working. I think it was a great purchase for the stamps I do have, and the ones that come from time to time from StickiiClub monthly subscriptions. * * As you can see, I gave it a bit of a test run and the colors all turned out well. The girl that is tilted on her side up at the top is actually two-toned as well! * * After testing, I actually cut out each one and have used them to my travel journals and bujo. * * My favourite of the stamps is the girl with the flowers. There is something that balances Anne of Green Gables with The Secret Garden for me in that one. * * Are stamps worth it? In the 18th century, there was significant debate in the scientific community, specifically in the French Academy of Sciences as to whether the circumference of the Earth was greater around the Equator or the poles. In response to this, Louis XV - the king of France, sent two expeditions to determine the answer. One team was sent to the Arctic, modern-day Finland and the other to Spanish Ecuador. Pedro Vicente Maldonado accompanied the French expedition as an Ecuadorian geographer and topographer. They completed their survey measurements by 1739, measuring the length of a meridian arc of three degrees at the Equator. The Arctic expedition had proven that the Earth is oblate; i.e., flattened at the poles. This is how the West met Pedro Vicente Maldonado, a man of extraordinary talent, a man of science, an archetype of the spirit of Castilian nobility. He is the greatest scientific figure not only in Ecuador but in all of South America. He authored the first geographical map of his province and scientific reports covering Physics, Astronomy, Geography, Botany and Spanish Ecuador which served as the basis for subsequent studies for the descriptive Geography of the Americas. The Spanish Catholic Majesty knighted him and honoured him with a position of Lieutenant of Captain-General, the French and English made him the First Corresponding member of the Paris Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society of London for Latin America respectively. @stamp_sellers Krakatoa Eruption Letusan Krakatau 1883 terjadi di Hindia Belanda (sekarang Indonesia), yang bermula pada tanggal 26 Agustus 1883 (dengan gejala pada awal Mei) dan berpuncak dengan letusan hebat yang meruntuhkan kaldera. Pada tanggal 27 Agustus 1883, dua pertiga bagian Krakatau runtuh dalam sebuah letusan berantai, melenyapkan sebagian besar pulau di sekelilingnya. Aktivitas seismik tetap berlangsung hingga Februari 1884. Letusan ini adalah salah satu letusan gunung api paling mematikan dan paling merusak dalam sejarah, menimbulkan setidaknya 36.417 korban jiwa akibat letusan dan tsunami yang dihasilkannya. Dampak letusan ini juga bisa dirasakan di seluruh penjuru dunia. Sebenarnya jauh sebelum 1883, Krakatau juga pernah meletus pada tahun 416 sebelum Masehi, diikuti beberapa letusan pada abad ke-3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, dan 17 yang diikuti dengan tumbuhnya kerucut Rakata dan Danan.
