 Slowly losing my light and heat.

 Only a few embers remain; thinly glowing amidst thick ash and dead leaves.

 Burned out and smouldering. My purpose has been served; now I wait, unavailing.

 Yet the smoke persists for a time.

 Soon to be swept away;

 Like the calmness of my mind.

HOME IS MORE THAN A WHERE It’s a when. It’s a who. And also, a with whom. A scent that brings back a comforting memory. Your first boyfriend’s cologne. Childhood in a bottle of talcum powder and the smell of powder puff sneezes. Frying fish like your Goan neighbors used to make, even if you’re vegetarian. Home is a song you first heard in happy times. But home is not just pretty things. Memory is a messy place. How do you recognise messes? Pencil marks on the wall? Food splashes on the refrigerator? Clothes that tumble down, as you open the cupboard? The messes that you recognize, will make your pile of bricks, your patch of land feel like home. And how about people? People who laugh with you. People who think in the same language as you. People who tell the same stories, even in other languages. People who call god the same name. People who are praying for second chances, the same time as you. People who share your vices - cigarettes, alcohol, bad relationships. Home. The bed that you wake up in, after a good night's sleep, will feel like home. Don't go looking for home. Today is #WorldPoetryDay and as someone who has been writing poems since I was maybe fourteen, it felt good going around town after work and exchanging poems for coffee. I hit @columbusmuseum ‘s Schokko Cafe and @hillsdowntown . One graciously allowed me to the have tea instead (as I don’t drink coffee), and the other gave me a coffee mug and said okay to my coffee be passed to the next person. Now I remember a time where God told me in 2012 to stop rapping and focus on spoken word. Little did I realise that this was for a season during which Pass Me The Mic came out and God used that to prepare me to be a better rapper lyrically speaking until He released me to continue almost a year later. Then I was blessed to use a mixture of rap and spoke word on my last #highereducationmixtape and even bussing a couple A Capellas as poetry at a couple events. I haven’t done poetry live since last summer. Will I ever do more in the future? When the time is right. РЕАЛЬНОСТЬ. Без четверти полночь. Мозг ловит рифмы. День прожит в полумраке комнаты. Рожденья слов освоены законы, мы чужие – никто не понятый. По-дружески меня обняли рифмы. Я айсберга кусок отколотый. Вокруг лишь альтруистки нимфы и горечь моих дум непонятых. А за спиной только ночь и порог твоего дома, и ещё один холодный дождь. Ситуация до боли знакома. И, раздумывая о разности между рефлексом и сексом, понимаешь параллель реальности, но сначала безопасность, изучение разнообразных лиц, ещё не ставших личностями, а также серые травы и крики птиц – нужен укол безразличности. Или большая чашка крепкого кофе в наглой руке, под стон сигареты, в такт сердечной моей катастрофе.
