hello new followers!
I've had a lot of new followers recently and I'm going to take this opportunity to plug my fics, because that's why I am here (between shitposts and rushed meta.) So! I'm going to do a game I've been threatening to do for a LONG time, and I'm going to invite other writers to do the same.
Rules are that you plug a handful of your fics from your current fandom(s), give a quick summary, and then put in 1-2 lines from comments as reviews. Because fuck it, self-promotion is fine actually.
The Portrait
BG3. 6.5k one shot, Enver Gortash/The Dark Urge. Lord Gortash requests a portrait of his paramour. The pay is good, the contract legitimate. It seems almost too good to be true... In pre-canon, a young artist takes a job from an upcoming player in Baldur's Gate society. "The voice was amazing, the descriptions are poignant without getting too far in the weeds, you show so much without telling explicitly." "if i could frame this fic and put it up on my wall, i would in a heartbeat! literally the definition of perfection"
Monster, Mine
BG3, 7k one shot. Enver Gortash/The Dark Urge. There is a beast haunting the city, and there is a tentative reaching of hands across the table. In pre-canon, Enver Gortash tries to find the truth of the Slayer. "This is a genuinely stunning piece of fiction." "Their poisonous codependency and joint descent into it is the absolute delight to read!"
Even if Love
BG3, 8k, short chapters. Multiple. Shades of love for The Dark Urge, Orin The Red, Enver Gortash, Wisteria Jannath, Sceleritas Fel, Kressa Bonedaughter, Lae'zel, Minthara Baenre, Sarevok Anchev and Araj Oblodra. Can be read individually, but they do build a narrative together. "it is a crime that AO3 only allows one kudos for a whole fic" "All so distinct and sharply observed, and such gorgeous writing throughout!"
Blood and Bone, Bone and Blood
BG3. 3.5K one shot. Ketheric Thorm/The Dark Urge A collection of moments between Bhaal and Myrkul’s chosen as they are bound together with Gortash as the chosen of the Dead Three. "It simply drips with style. Gorgeous prose." "Feral about this fic"
The First Leaf on the Tree after Winter
BG3. 9k, multi-chapter. Halsin/Jaheira. Background Wyll/Karlach. Their time was a century before, she thinks. What can they be, these old souls rooted in their ways, these observers of the world, these failed heroes? "All the kudos here. The ultimate kudos. Oh I really loved this." "I reached the end with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. so bittersweet and beautiful. I adore every word."
Breath and Rosewater
BG3, 20k, multi-chapter ongoing. Gale/Tav She has always loved music for many reasons; the patterns that present themselves, and the sheer joy of playing. Working out the fingering, and bringing joy to others. The breath before the first note. The freedom that comes from following your heart and letting it soar. He has always loved magic for every reason; the study of it, the power in it. The quiet contemplation of hours of learning, the thrill of application on the battlefield, and off of it. The understanding that comes from complete control of your craft. "most well-constructed intro paragraph that i've read in awhile—we get such a strong sense of glim, her expertise, her pride in her art, in just four sentences." "Oh this whole thing is so beautiful. i adore your prose."

Gortash and Jannath
Tumblr media
Oscar's wife's name is Firelia. So is Wisteria then maybe her mother? It's about a young Gortash. So maybe this was written 20 years ago if he's like 40? But then this woman was already "old". Maybe her grandmother or an aunt?
But nevertheless. We are not alone for the thirst after Enver Gortash. xD Btw does anyone know how he came to the name "Gortash" as his parents are called Flymm?

Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered exactly what's going on with all the dead bodies in the Wyrm's Rock audience hall, if you leave and come back after Gortash's coronation?
I did some in-game research while working on a fic recently, and in the name of sparing anyone else from having to lay all this out, too—here's a list of the victims, and some notes-based educated guessing on Gortash's motivation here.
(Beyond Iron Counsul Nuff's summary in the screenshot above: "My lord requires a clear path to his magnificent future. We cut away the troublesome bramble.")
Lord Petric Amber
Lord Amber's Bodyguard
Lady Ailis Belt
Lady Haeril Birch
Baron Callem Bormul
Lady Alia Durinbold
Lady Durinbold's Bodyguard
Lady Durinbold's Attendant
Lord Sarken Eomane
Admiral Peil Hullhollyn
Lady Winstra Hullhollyn
Lord Raylen Jannath
Lord Jannath's Bodyguard
Duke Dillard Portyr
Lord Portyr's Attendant
Lord Portyr's Bodyguard
Lady Beatrice Provoss
Lord Myer Ravenshade
Lady Silifrey Sashenstar
Lord Rugger Shattershield
Lord Shattershield's Bodyguard
Lord Shattershield's Attendant
Lord Milton Tillerturn
Lord Randolf Vammas
Lady Madeline Whitburn
9 Unnamed Patriars
First I'll note that not everyone you see lingering after the coronation ends up dead: I could talk to Lady Eshvelt Guthmere, Lady Ruth Linnacker, and Lady Freida Oberon, and their bodies aren't present in the hall later.
It also doesn't seem to be connected to vocalizing support for Gortash or not—you can overhear Portyr and Shattershield challenging him in the ambient dialogue after the coronation, but when you walk around and talk to everyone else the only one who has anything negative to say is Silifrey Sashenstar. Everyone else on the list above sings Gortash's praises.
So, here's what I think it is!
In the corner of the audience hall, you can find this note:
Tumblr media
The Parliament of Peers is the body that's responsible for electing new dukes, and they held a formal vote to raise Gortash as Archduke and dissolve their own political body. Note the numbers: there's 23 members.
So who are these members? Up in Gortash's study, you can find this note discussing bribing, blackmailing, and threatening members of the Peers, which gives us the names of eight:
Tumblr media
Five of these eight end up dead in the audience hall (Portyr, Jannath, Whitburn, Sashenstar, and Eomane).
As for the three Peers listed who don't end up in dead in the hall—Lady Ruth Linnacker, Lord Hir Rillyn, and Lady Haeril Vanthampur—let's look to this note:
Tumblr media
Gortash has leverage against Ruth Linnacker through the abduction of her granddaughter, and I don't think it's unfair to assume Hir Rillyn and Haeril Vanthampur are similarly under Gortash's control, whether tadpoled or blackmailed (this is the one big assumption I had to make—bear with me!).
The other two with non-murderous leverage against them in the note above do end up dead, but I think there's some added context: I imagine Raylen Jannath is the husband of Wisteria Jannath, who Gortash canonically had an affair with (maybe it's personal? Maybe Raylen didn't care enough about the leverage of his own affair, if he knew she'd had one too?). For Portyr, there's the following in Gortash's study, noting he considers him a threat that shouldn't be underestimated, so he may not have wanted to stop at threats:
Tumblr media
The inclusion of Portyr on the list of eight Peers could imply that the other three dukes are members of the Parliament of Peers, too. There's a book in Franc Peartree's house about the current state of who the dukes are, which I don't have my own screenshot of, but here's the relevant text from the wiki:
Tumblr media
We know Belynne Stelmane is dead as part of the Bhaalist plot. Ulder Ravengard is tadpoled. The fourth duke was Thalamra Vanthampur, who's dead. They were waiting to replace her until Ravengard was found or confirmed gone—and Gortash was given this seat.
So, back to the original list of people murdered after the coronation. I bolded the names of those who aren't seemingly collateral damage (the bodyguards and attendants, and the unnamed patriars): there's 17.
17 killed after the coronation
Plus three Peers controlled through blackmail or other means
Plus Duke Stelmane and Duke Ravengard, dead and tadpoled respectively
That adds up to 22.
Add in Gortash's own vote, which he would have from taking (Thalamra) Vanthampur's seat, and you get 23.
The same number as the members of the Parliament of Peers.
Gortash didn't just orchestrate the Peers naming him the city's first Archduke, and he didn't just influence them to dissolve the political body that could vote another duke in. He made sure the individuals were destroyed, too.

Enver Gortash, né Flymm: a tentative timeline
OR: I try to make sense of whatever the fuck is up with the Dark Urge's oiliest ex-fwb
enver flymm lives with his parents, sally and dravo flymm in the lower city, cobblers for generations, etc. he tinkers a lot, "traps and mechanisms", described as "needy, foolish, wicked, demanding attention, very crafty, smart boy - too smart" "He was always a little monster. Nasty to the core. He would've torn me and Dravo apart with his whining, his demands, the never-ending racket of him!" (note: they note that they made enver feel powerless, and this would have been the inciting incident that made him feel justice= revenge and fear)
the parents owe money to The Guild, the criminal organization that basically ran Baldur's Gate behind the scenes (everyone either owing them money or getting kickback / blackmail from it)
a warlock shows up and offers money for Enver. they sell their son to said warlock.
Enver seems to have changed his name then, either the warlock doing it or him denying the flymm name?
warlock then brings Enver to the House of Hope - I assume Raphael might have been his patron? which would mean raphael wanted enver from the start. Nubaldin, who used to work in the prison of the House of Hope, calls him "a mischievous little blot of a boy, who slipped through his fingers"
at some point during his stay in the prison of the House of Hope, Enver figures out about the Crown of Karsus held in Mephistopheles' vault. he escapes the house of hope
back in faerun's plane, he starts moving against the Guild. There's a report to Nine-Fingers, Guildmaster, of "upstart smuggler Enver Gortash making inroads on the illicit arms trade in the chionthar valley", though states it's more like "annexation", replacing the Knights of the Shield and the Zhentarim. definitely had a grudge to bear against them lol
Notes that seem to be from somwhere in this period of time:
"lavender scented diary of lady wisteria jannath" where hes like. seducing this old pariar for the diamond ring worth more than her mansion.
a letter to franc, a now deceased arms dealer, where hes like being a freak about how "weapons distributions continues like a parent saving their drowning child: swimmingly" and also how he loves "any man willing to birth a little more slithering wet malice into the world"
1482 DR (for sure, from dialogue with Karlach saying it's been ten years), he's selling Karlach (who looked up to and liked him !) to Zariel in order to get the prototype for his Steel Watchers. because i think he can't be satisfied with what he actually has, he wants *everyone* to like him, through being terrified of him and his weapons.
at some point, meets with the Dark Urge and ally together. they steal the crown of karsus with halsik's help. the Absolute hoax is put into motion
they get ketheric and myrkul in on it, after the crown heist, by digging isobel up so she can get necromanced.
Gondians fit here (as the note by Vance Farnol places it)
not too long before the game (at most a year? two?), orin poisons and tadpoles the Dark Urge and goes to Ketheric and Gortash to act as Bhaal's Chosen. Dark Urge becomes a test subject chew toy for Kressa Bonedaughter at Moonrise.
gortash tadpoles his parents "months" before the game, as sally flymm states if you talk to her.
My question: when did Enver Gortash find the Emperor/Balduran and bring him back under the domination of the Elder Brain, as part of taking down the Knights of the Shield? Or when he and the Dark Urge had acquired the Crown? does anyone have a screenshot of the interrogation sequence between those two?
(note: the emperor has a devnote for the emotions the Voice Actor was supposed to express when gortash proposes an alliance thats like. Yeah he's lying but i hate his guts, and you could always betray him first)

...
(from "Perfumed Days, Passionate Nights", yanked from high security vault no. 2 in the Counting House. transcription under the cut)
[A lavender-scented diary of florid prose that describes Lady Wisteria Jannath's brief but torrid affair with a young scapegrace named Enver Gortash. A typical excerpt reads as below.]
"When he held me in his burly yet tender arms, it was as if the years melted away ansd I was once again the reigning debutante of the Upper City's soirees and cotillions. What matter if the diamond ring I gifted him, heirloom of the Jannaths for generations, was worth more than the value of the mansion? It looked so well glittering on his long, strong fingers, and his glowing smile as he slipped it on was worth a dozen mansions - or more!"

Even if Love
Nobody asked for Wisteria Jannath fic, but here we are
Read on Ao3
At her debut she caught the eye of three patriars, two unmarried and one, the most interesting of them sadly, recently wed to the sniveling Eve Eomane who did not last three winters before her body broke under the weight of trying to secure an heir. He, one of the Bormul brothers who passed some forty years back, thrown from his horse after drinking too much, could not keep his eyes from her all evening. His gaze was new to her. She had known she was pretty enough, she had enough glamours put upon her by the Sunites to ensure she was as fine as she could be for the night, but where she had been a lovely ornament, a thing to be traded to the highest bidder, this Bormul (oh, how she wished she could remember his name!) had looked at her as a person for the first time in her life.
That night she had stolen away with the handsome man with the dark eyes and wandering hands into the orangery at the Caldwell estate and he had pressed his body against hers so tightly she could not breathe. He pulled her breast from her bodice and bit it so hard he left a mark, he unlaced himself under her skirts and rubbed himself against her petticoats whilst calling her the prettiest thing he ever did see, hot breath against her ear as he told her how he wished he could claim her properly, but this would have to do, his large thumb in her mouth as she squealed under his hand. What a pity, he told her, that she had not been debuted a year before. He would fill her body with her love.
She would marry Lord Jannath that summer, and the idea of such passion was put aside for a cool marriage bed focused on their children. She did her duty, she kept herself beautiful, but his interests were elsewhere in the boys down by the docks. She did not mind. He was careful, and he was caring in other ways, in jewels and parties and tender kisses on her temple. She kept those petticoats from her debut and never washed them.
She thinks of the Bormul boy as she lets young Gortash grip her hips from behind and finish inside her. There’s no risk of her quickening, it is far too late for such things, so why not enjoy the pleasure of his voice at her ear, the strain in his throat as he stills inside her, the breathless sweaty heap of their bodies together after? He kisses her long and slow and she is high on the scent of him, amber and jasmine over the smell of the base worker.
For a while she is giddy with it, the perfumed notes in his considered, careful hand, seeing him so flagrantly wearing the Jannath Diamond she gave him in court, so brazen. They all knew he was hers, and what of it? She had been a widow these past ten years and had been a loyal wife for twenty before it. They should know that he, this powerful, ambitious boy, found his greatest power in her bed.
He wears it for as long as it is useful.
Years later, Gortash comes back to her with a new crest and the flimsy badge of Lord festooned to him. It is garish and it is gauche, but she knows he does not care. He has always been shameless, and that was what once had thrilled her, hadn’t it? She always knew his ambitions were for more than just a warm sheath and a little coin. He has worked quickly, ingratiating himself with the lower lords with some ease, though some like that prig Ravengard are a little more wise to him. He is still handsome, but there is a coldness now in him, in the way he dresses, in the way he holds himself. Or, perhaps, she simply sees him with her eyes wide open for the first time.
He kisses her hand and lingers a little too long. An obvious game. When she asks what he wants, he plays coy with her as if she is a fresh virgin ready for the seduction again, and she hates that he sees her as so easy to play. Perhaps it is what she deserves.
He kneels before her and sweeps his hands under her skirts and it nauseates her to think that this was once what made her heart flutter, this obvious play straight from a three copper chapbook, one hand on her ankle and the other at the corner of her bodice.
She swats him away with a tap of her fan. Tell me your business, my Lord, she says. You have not been here for many years. Time stills affections, as I’m sure you know.
He smiles at her and brings himself to his feet, shrugging off the mantle of seducer as a snake sheds a skin.
I will need a wife, he tells her without ceremony, and your daughter seems as good an option as any. At least I know the quality of the stock.
The way he smiles at her should make her feel sick, but instead she feels an odd kind of relief. This, she can negotiate with. When she tells him her daughter is preoccupied with an artist, young Oscar Fevras, he is aghast. Gods, could she not choose somebody with a bit more flair? Litton, perhaps, or Guy Ceasebourne? At any rate, he concedes, she could keep him for all he cared. He needs the name. He needs the heirs. What a pity, he says with a creeping smile, that you were not born at the right time for it.
Hearing him say it breaks into that old memory, and she hates that she can feel her face flush again.
Then again, says Lord Gortash, returning to sit by her against and leaning in his lips to her throat, if she can keep her artist, why can’t I keep my interests? Would you like that, he says, as his hand pushes her skirt away, that I quicken your daughter as you warm my bed?
I will try and convince her, she says as she helps him to hitch up her skirts. Use your hands. You were always better with them than your mouth.
It is a pleasant pretense, that this could still be her bargaining chip, but he has no more use for her, she knows it, and this will be the last time she feels his heavy, jeweled hands on her cunt, cool gold on hot flesh. She will savour it. What else does she have?

Ok last one for now. But I do these collected character studies of the evil-aligned characters and their interpretations of love, called Even if Love (after the banger of a song by Bonnie Prince Billy)
This was literally originally a post about my Durge that I typed directly into tumblr. Now it’s got chapters about Orin, Gortash, Wisteria Jannath, Sceleritas Fel and Kressa Bonedaughter, and planned chapters for Lae’zel and Minthara Baenre. They’re still fast and sharp and I think are pretty good!

Also I planned this and shared with some folks and others might find this interesting!
In my little canon world Gortash has many lovers, and I compiled a little list of his favourites!
Everybody listed here happened multiple times over a time period, so people like Haarlep which was a very set period and one off seductions like Liria (the name I gave to the elf whose head can be found in the workshop in Moonrise) don't count here.
Neither technically does Manva Warhelm, though she sits on top for always being on his mind sue me.
Putting under the cut because Enver Gortash is a bad, bad, bad man.
Bane. I mean this goes without saying. Visits from his God are always eventful.
Musahn Mensahn (Human) a Calishite importer of people who docks every few months. One of the few people Enver is actually fond of, Musahn is a shrewd, cultured man who spins a good yarn and is an attentive, gentle presence in his life. Afternoons with him are like a little holiday.
Del Dawnstar (Dwarf) A young employee at Mistress Yare’s flophouse in The Wide, Enver has been seeing them since they were a teenager starting out. Their position fluctuates; on the one hand they will do anything he asks of them as long as their price is met and he has been able to shape them to his tastes, but on the other hand, sometimes he likes a bit more of a fight (features in Let Me Adorn You)
Hester Ashenheart (Dwarf) A servant in Gortash’s household. He knows Hester does not like him, but that is part of the appeal on both sides. She has found herself in his bed on a number of occasions, often when he has received a less than pleasing letter - and she bears the brunt of the worst of his temper (Features in The Portrait)
Franc Peartree (Human, deceased) Franc and Enver have been working together for around a decade and have been lovers for almost all of that time. Franc has been a close supporter of Enver’s rise across business, politics, and religion, and their affair has always been one of a mutual understanding of his place.
Kruugar (Half-Orc, deceased) Kru is a mercenary who has worked for Enver across jobs. This one is pretty much just physical, and Kru has a prosthetic that Gortash fitted himself as a prototype (having also cut off his arm)
Kerrie Lovelace (Half-Elf) Gortash traded Kerrie and her brother Ellyan from Calimshan, and let her be bought by Karlach Cliffgate in what he saw as a very funny and misplaced moment of chivalry. She went on to become Ulder Ravengard’s mistress, which then sparked his interest; he blackmails her for her company when he feels he wants that particular feeling of power, and she cries all the way through, which is exactly what he is looking for (features in The Portrait and Ammunition)
Ivo Thorngrove (Halfling) A very shrewd moneylender, Ivo has been working with Enver for decades. They had a much more physical relationship when both men were younger, which has petered out into something more familial for the most part, though Ivo can sometimes be persuaded…
Helsik (Dwarf) A completely transactional, only occasional relationship when he wants something. He admires her business sense.
Wisteria Jannath (Human, deceased) Another transactional relationship, Enver nonetheless enjoys her sharp wit and warmth, and her understanding of what their relationship is.
Ettvard Needle (Human) Editor of Baldur’s Mouth. Enver met Ettvard when working on improvements to the efficiency of print and they formed a close working relationship which became closer when he joined the Banite church.
Ffion Goldgrind (Dwarf, deceased) Another working relationship, he sees Ffion when he needs a heavy reset.
Fariza Linnaker (Human) Technically his wife. Fariza was kidnapped and held as collateral for ransom to attempt to get Lady Ruth to hand over some of the family’s gold. She did not play ball, a move that Gortash deeply admired, and instead suggested that he keep her if he really wants the investment of the Linnakers. She has gone from locked up in a safehouse, visited only by Manva who “trained” her in what to expect should she live, to being locked up in his estate. He loathes her weakness.
Avery Sonshal (Human) Avery is a recent addition, an ambitious young man who is a Banite “friend of Gortash.” Enver doesn’t think much of him, but he takes a cock well and is eager to please, so is also easy to subjugate.

Lord Enver Gortash (Part 1 of ?)
How does Counsellor Gortash secure himself a noble title? The old fashioned way - marrying into a partiar family.
Tumblr media
The choice is incredibly calculated. A respectable family, close to the Jannaths, but not one of particular notoriety or prestige. Months of detailed research, collecting every secret the family may have. He decides to pursue their third daughter, a quieter girl who is overshadowed by the family's brilliant first daughter and dazzling second daughter. Most importantly, she is far enough removed from the line of succession so as to not raise eyebrows.
He watches her long enough to learn her habits. Always tucked into a corner, happy to allow her sisters to shine. He notes how she frequently slips away from evening gatherings to wander the gardens of whatever manor they may be in.
Charming her is easy. He's there waiting for her in the gardens one night, feigning surprise. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds these occasions terribly dull. He plays the part of like-minded confidant, orchestrating the initial meeting into a series of ongoing liaisons. He pushes their development from kindred spirits into pining friends until she is in his lap while he whispers sweet nothings into her ear. Its too easy, he almost feels guilty. Almost.
The hard part is legitimizing the union, convincing the family to let a commoner into their fold. But he made his selection for a reason. A good word put in from Wisteria Jannath (backed by a thinly-veiled, hefty threat), and he has the blessing of the girl's father.
They are wed in a simple but beautiful ceremony. He becomes Lord Enver Gortash, ever the doting and dutiful husband. That is, for as long as he must be. He does not intend to stay trapped in the union, forced to play a role he cannot truly fulfill, forced to pretend to give his heart to someone when it already belongs to another.
The time will come when he can end it and walk away with his title securely in his hand. He can wait, he's good at waiting, nothing can compare to ten years in the Hells.
Part 1 of ?

Fic stuff
I have a bunch of new followers recently so I'm going to plug the fic. Because the fandom has very quick turn around for people seeing things, and that's why I'm here. I refuse to let myself cringe!
You followed for Gale content?
I love the wizard. First thing I'll recommend is the ongoing longfic, Breath and Rosewater. It's Gale and a Deep Gnome Bard who is a queer woman, and it's probably 2/3 is not 3/4 from his perspective. I love him. Rated M for violence and very light sex references.
Not up for long stuff? Try Respite. Chronic pain and a bit of care for the wizard. Rated T.
Just want short fluff? I'm collecting prompts here under When in Waterdeep. Always happy to get more prompts.
You followed for Gortash?
I collect stuff about my Dark Urge and Gortash under A Jewelled and Bloody Hand. A part of this, and probably the part I'm proudest of, is Even if Love, a series of character studies about evil aligned characters including Durge, Gortash, Orin, Sceleritas Fel, Kressa, a bonus Wisteria Jannath... These are almost universally E rated. Sex, death, references to incest in relation to Orin. It's Bhaalists, they're nasty, do read the content warnings.
You like a rarepair?
Please come ship Halsin and Jaheira with me. The First Leaf on the Tree after Winter is one of my favourite things I've written. Rated M for discussions around grief, and some references to wildshape sex.
Closely followed by my other rarepair, The Dark Urge/Ketheric Thorm. Blood and Bone, Bone and Blood is a recent fic. I'm proud of the writing in this one, if not the themes. Rated E for extreme daddy issues.
I also take requests, prompts, and I love to talk about writing if people ask... let me know what you want to see!

Durgetash fic post
Listen I have a lot of new Durgetash followers and I'm going to push my villain fics in front of all of you because I am, for some reason, proud of some of them and I won't shut up about it. Everything has content warnings! Definitely heed them!
My Dark Urge is a custom, Manva Warhelm, who is a dwarf monk on a non-resist path. She loves her daddy very much.
Even if Love is a bunch of character studies including Durge and Gortash, but also Orin, Sceleritas, Lady Wisteria Jannath, and Kressa Bonedaughter, with upcoming Lae'zel and Minthara. Short bits that can be read individually but also build a story together.
The Portrait is the story of Gortash hiring a young guild artist called Guy Ceasebourne to paint his love. I'm dead proud of this, you all wanted portrait fics, here's one.
Control, the first thing I wrote when I thought I would just get it out of my system (ha) is about their reunion, directly after the coronation, and is a little fast slightly smutty moment.
The Thing Most Desired, Hand in Unlovable Hand, and I could kill you and you'd thank me for it are first kiss, holding hands, and something a bit spicier, respectively. Short prompts written quickly.
And as a bonus, Blood and Bone, Bone and Blood is about Ketheric. Because why not Ketheric. More people need to write some Durge and Ketheric. Again, I'm proud of this one. Whether I should be or not.
There's more planned, including some prayer, what would happen if they really were the last two people in the world, a retelling of Blood and Bone from Gortash's perspective because let's explore his father issues... I am far from done with this trash pile.

Her afternoon appointment is in the richest streets of the Upper City, in the second-highest mansion in the best street. The stone is the highest quality white, and is blinding in the heavy summer sun.
“Your Grace, I am afraid,” Afua tells her, shaking in her fine velvet dress. Manva smooths out her servant’s doublet and smiles tightly at her.
“You have nothing to be afraid of,” she tells her. “You come from this world. All you have to do is be yourself.”
“Wisteria was at my mother’s side when I was born,” she says solemnly. “I have known her all of my life.”
“Then she will receive you as her kin, Slaying Hand.” She tries to bite off the edge of her annoyance, and smiles at her as softly as she can manage. “You are who you have always been, and so is she. And yet now, you are also more. You are His, and he will guide you if you let him.”
The silly girl smiles down at her. “You always know what to say, Primistress.”
“Please. Up here, you are Mistress, and I am but your humble servant. They will be expecting you. Do not make them wait.”
The Dowager Estate is not the grandest of the Jannath’s many holdings in the city, but it is, to her eye at least, the finest, with a beautiful view across the best streets of the Manorborn, with a pleasant vantage over the temple district, though perhaps that was not the fashion for these kind of people. They are greeted as expected, the butler taking them straight through the well-appointed hall with its winding stairs into a small withdrawing room, neatly set out for tea, and there on the couch in a fine silk gown is the lady of the house.

I've only barely edged my toes into Act 3, but I have to ask what is "Haunted One"?
thank you!! (answering questions about my WIPs here)
This one's a prequel fic! The title comes from the name of the in-game background if you play the Dark Urge. But I'll still be super cautious and go under a cut in case you don't know what the Dark Urge is yet and don't want to know.

So this is the origin story for my Valas DeVir, told in four days: the last day of his childhood, and his first day in Bhaal's temple, then the first day he meets Enver Gortash and the last day before he's betrayed by Orin.
He's the son of my character from the first two games, so there's a fair amount of reconciling that with the bg3 backstory: his relationship with Jaheira, tension with Sarevok and Helena Anchev, Bhaal taking hold of him through his dreams and the arrival of his Urge. It flirts with some broader dnd canon, too, especially the Murder in Baldur's Gate campaign: the death of Valas's father as he turns into the Slayer, and the off-page presence of Torlin Silvershield, the former Chosen of Bhaal.
Plus a whole lot of durgetash in the second pair of chapters.
This one's my biggest focus right now and the first time I've ever written all the chapters of something before starting to post it, so I'm ajsdklfjsfldsgfjdslf very excited to get it out into the world soon!
Hmm, for an excerpt I'll do some of the Gortash chapter I've never shared before:
It’s a singular feeling, the anticipation that comes before a party within the Upper City’s wall. Enver Gortash had savoured it, back when he’d had to arrive grasping a signed invitation to be admitted after dark, to stand on the edges at some minor family’s manor making eyes at Wisteria Jannath until she could steal away. He enjoys it still, new in his lordship, even as each night’s extravagance grows uninspiring: the moments before the performance, where his very presence is a show of power. And tonight, as he makes his way to the storied Silvershield Estate—tonight has the air of one he’ll want to remember. An important meeting, an introduction choreographed with a gravity befitting its promise. Later, with hindsight, he’ll look back and see this as a turning point. As perhaps the most important evening of his life. But for now, with a jacket dark and fingers adorned gold, he breathes in that potential in the evening air as he reaches the neighbourhood’s western edge. He chose today for the location itself, and he hadn’t had to wait long for the right invitation: the Silvershields are consummate hosts, their property the length of a city block, their gardens expansive and expensive, the walls themselves carved intricately, patriotically with yellow granite from the bluffs. It’s an unmistakable honour to be invited for newer members of the Gate’s gentry; being seen here—making an impression here—that’s been a coveted thing for generations. Yet the list is far from exclusive, to attract enough revellers to keep the grounds from looking too sparse: a place possible to bring an unexpected guest. A dangerous guest. Even better, in Gortash’s mind, is the layer of iniquity past all the pristine gravel and polished gossip, if you know what lies beyond the hinged bookshelf in Duke Torlin Silvershield’s office on the second floor. Gortash doesn’t, not exactly, but he has his suspicions from information spied and stolen: enough that he’d be surprised if his invited guest hasn’t graced these halls before, though surely not in the view of so many gentle, innocent eyes. No, a party like this is Lord Gortash’s world. And he intends to keep the upper hand.
